So happy for you Trysha! I hope you have the help you need from friends/neighbors and/or Carol gets there quickly. ;) I was having a hard day (emotionally) until I went for my echocardiogram "with bubbles" (amonst other things, to see how fast things move from one chamber of heart to other). Just before, Doug let me know he would meet me there (I didn't think he would be able to make it) so it was great to have that support. When there, I found the echo tech to be a long lost cousin that I care for greatly but we just lost track of most of that part of family as we all grew up and went seperate directions. It's a little weird, tho, in thought, to have a male cousin placing electrodes on my chest! But we were so absorbed in conversation and catching up that the test just flew by. (I won't have results of all my testing until Dec. at follow-up appt.) Get Holter monitor tomorrow.

It's ☔️again. It's still chaos here with transport and roading conditions. I won't see much of Steve over the coming months as he will be very busy with all the roading issues in Wellington and more importantly the top of South Island.

Yeah Trysha you are home sweet home...enjoy the comforts of home . Dont over do things tho n make sure you get to rest enough hun. 💕
Cat glad you are feeling a bit better. Hope it continues that way for you 💕
Sandy well it a small world as they say..though i wouldnt like to hoover it 😆. Hope moniter sheds some light on things and you can get to feel better for it 💕
Kirsty though you wont see much of Steve at least you can take comfort in that he will be helping get peoples lives back on track after the quake. So glad you are both ok hun 💕

Big hugs all round :ghug:💚💛💜

I hope you had a good night in your own bed at last TRYSHA.It's been a looong time coming.Send me your shopping list and I'll pop over with it.Not too much mind,as it will have to go in little blackies panniers.Keep warm and get that knee better or we really will have to do the 3 legged race......we'll still beat Sandy though.

Well, today has started a lot better than yesterday, my cousin really cheered me up (along with a combined church social and spiritual lesson for the women where we learned to and/or improved skills for making fudge and learned how not hold a grudge. It was a "grudge and fudge" night.) :ylol: Hope everything is improving for all of you too. No more major earthquakes, tell the rain to subside where needed, surgery recoveries to go exceptionally well from now on, upcoming surgeries to go well, tummies to settle down, energy to pick up, brain fog to go away, etc., etc.
Talk at ya all later. Busy day ahead (so I keep playing on the forum:rof:).

Sandy,it's a sure thing you're going to win the marathon. You and Doug never tire of telling us the Utes are winners, and Doug's told me you've started training already to give you the best chance. But don't eat to much fudge and spoil it all.

Good news, the mini tornado missed us at Te Horo it was the next village down from us. The sun is now shinning.

Erm Sandy i like fudge if theres any spare !!😆
Carol you know im winning the marathon as im the fittest of us all... oh looks like id dozed off there i was dreaming 😆.
Love n hugs to all 💞💟💝 :ghug:

What did you New Zealander's do to tick off the gods? Earthquakes, Floods, and now a Tornado, all in the last week! It sounds very biblical.

It does, normally NZ is a test case. They try things on us to see what happens. [emoji16]

Aura, my goodness, glad you missed the tornado (or rather that it missed you!). We're supposed to get snow here next week and I've been complaining about that, but I'll shut up now. I'd take snow any day over a tornado!

Sandy, fudge counts as marathon training food, right? ;)

I'm continuing to improve today. My appetite came back in a big way which is not a bad thing. I feel like I've been eating everything in sight though! So of course you had to mention fudge, ha ha. My boss already mentioned cake to me today and now I'm seriously thinking about having cake for dinner. (I didn't have any on my birthday, so I can totally have some today to make up for it, right? Like, just one cupcake's worth?)

We have an American staying with us tonight. Her name is Britney and she's known as the Road Rash Queen. She's here to promote safe motorcycling.

I am spending most of my time in the bathroom since this weekend. The surgery on my scalp is the twenty third. I am supposed to stay off Humira until two weeks after the surgery. My wife is afraid that when we go to my son's place for Thanksgiving I will spend most of the time in the bathroom.

I wonder if I'm supposed to press the button (for my heart monitor) and write in the diary when I feel my heart rate increase each time I visit the bathroom. If so, I'm going to be extra busy writing the next couple of days...

(It's a good thing you don't have the monitor Ron!)

well I am over this crap weather, its supposed to be summer, if I wanted this crap I would move to England.

Steve's laughing Trev. Today we had hail, lightning and torrential rain. Have you seen any locusts yet?

First snow of the season is expected tomorrow evening and it's a storm! Almost 60 Fahrenheit today and winter storm tomorrow with possible blizzard conditions. Mother Nature has a strange sense of humor if you ask me. Love the giraffe Sandy, he's adorable. Gave up my window seats on the plane trip and always avoid looking out the window or it would be a full blown panic attack for me. Get better stay well everyone.

We are similar Shanen! We had a long run of mostly record warm days (it hit 71 day before yesterday) and this morning it is 30° with a little snow! They say the ski resorts should be open by thanksgiving. (Tho they have been making artificial snow already.)
2016-11-17%2006.57.38_zpsjaxmbvzv.jpg

Shanen, I saw a news report about that snowstorm that's coming! It should mostly miss me, I'm in southern Wisconsin and it's mostly going to all go north of here from the sounds of it. But yeah, I have a friend who lives in northern Wisconsin and she was saying that they're supposed to get something ridiculous like 3-8 inches of snow! Eek! We might get a dusting here or we may get nothing at all - they were saying maybe some slushy snow at worst. Yuck, though! Today's high temp is 68 F here and sunny so yeah, snow sounds farfetched right about now. Gotta love the midwest and its crazy weather changes!

Happy Friday, today we reached over 2000 aftershocks. Just as well we don't feel most of them. The sun shone today and the wind was calm. People didn't know what to do a day with no major event from Mother Nature. So it's totally a Happy Friday.

Happy friday Kirsty.. lets hope that the worst is over and things can get back in track for everyone. 💕💕

Slight snow on the ground this morning. We are predicted to have a very snowy winter this year. I will struggle to get to work as im in the countryside n snow gritters n ploughs tend not to clear the out of town roads. Mmmm should be fun. Will probably have to park a walk away n walk down the hill to the store.
Love to all keep safe all 💖💝💞

It's lovely and sunny over here Mandy,so far.....Of to buy some paint for the kitchen.Neither of us is in the mood for DIY but it will be something to do when the weather turns nasty.I mean, you can't stay snuggled up with a good book and a box of chocs Aaall day can you ?

Hhhmmm let me think.... chocolates.... painting....book and chocolates...painting. I know what I'd choose [emoji16]

Change of plan...decided I didn't feel up to trailing round the DIY store. So just sitting here being lazy (ish) Got my unopened book nearby, but don't feel like choccy.so I must be poorly.

Morning everyone. Bit chilly here on the east coast but lot of sun predicted today. Going for a run soon :)

We're officially at the start of our weird weather too. Today's high temp is 64 F. Tomorrow's high temp is 39 F. :p And they also said winds up to 40 mph! Apparently no snow, but my goodness, what a change from one day to the next!

Is anybody else starting to get ready for xmas? I know it's still early but I need happy distractions in my life right now. I've been buying decorations and wrapping supplies. I kind of hate wrapping, so I'm going to try to just stuff everybody's gifts into gift bags this year. I got a bunch of gift bags and tissue paper yesterday, and earlier this week I bought a bunch more xmas lights which I'm going to put out this weekend. Next week I'll put up the tree! :) I still have to buy some more gifts, but I have some handmade gifts done already and am working on a few more. I'm excited for xmas!

We usually don't celebrate christmas, but I love the festive mood in the malls and cafés. It's already begun here and there are songs about snow and Santa everywhere :)

Weather near work wasnt too bad. Managed to get down to the store ok. Been a sleety hail rain day . I had more layers on than an onion today to keep warm ☺

Yes.

Madhu, I am not religious and don't celebrate xmas in a religious way, but I do celebrate it in the ways that include gifts, pretty lights, a tree, decorations, food, etc. :) I love the festive atmosphere and the songs as well. The lights and decorations make me so happy. It puts a warm feeling into me during a cold and dark time of year.

Every year around thanksgiving, my mom's side of the family gets together for a meal and then we all play bingo. Everyone brings small prizes, and when you win a round of bingo, you get to pick a prize (they're all wrapped so you don't know what you're getting). All the bingo prizes I'm contributing this year are xmas ornaments because I'm feeling festive. And is it wrong that I kind of want to win my own prizes? ;) We're doing this get-together tomorrow, wish me luck at bingo!

Thanks Mandy! Last year I think I won pencils and M&Ms. :p I'm hoping for slightly better prizes this year!

M&M's and a good book with a blanket on the couch. Now that would be a great afternoon. 😊 Dusting of snow overnight with icy roads and a roaring wind this morning. Welcome to winter in a hurry. ☹️

The wind is roaring here too! There's a wind advisory from now through noon tomorrow, they're saying 25 to 35 mph winds with gusts to 40+. Yikes! I'm supposed to drive an hour and a half tomorrow to my family meal & bingo. I think I'm going to swap cars tomorrow with my hubby, my little tiny car really gets thrown around by wind but hubby's car is much larger so hopefully will do better in high winds. (I have a sub-compact and he's got a large sedan - bonus, his car has heated seats!)

Ron, I am going to be the slowest person on the highway, ha ha. I hate driving in bad weather. I think I'll be okay in the bigger car. And we're not getting snow or even rain, apparently, so it shouldn't be slippery, just really windy.

Shanen and Cat, you have different parts of the storm that passed thru here, and it should end up with Trysha after that. It was actually a large storm here, but came mostly in the night and started as rain, then turned to snow before morning, so we didn't see it very well before it was gone. (People always drive like idiots the first snow, tho, even if it doesn't stay icy.) It's path is east and north, should stay formidable in its main path, and Trysha should even see it eventually. Tired, night night all!

Everyone be careful in the bad weather 💕
I got a letter to say i have another mri scan in dec??? Not had results from last one yet..going to have to ring n see whats going on. Dont want to do bowel prep again so soon 😨.
Big hugs n love to all.💞💝:ghug:

Well I started the Christmas clean today.Got the back windows done but will have to do the rest later. The winter sun is burning my eyeballs.
We don't celebrate Christmas at all, since our son emigrated to Oz.18yrs ago,and we're not religious either Cat.It's just another day to us,annoying because there are no daily newspapers. When we had our little dog,we used to go for a hike and a pic-nic,
If the weathers good,we'll go on the bikes or a walk down to the coast.I usually send cards, but I might not even do that this year. You're probably all thinking "miserable b*tch"
but I'm not really.I just think Christmas is about people who can ill afford it worrying what to buy for great aunt Maud just to save face.Hubs and I don't exchange cards or presents either. If I want something I buy it myself, and I'm always buying stuff for him. It's nice for little kids, the magic is still there, but over a certain age it's all about "I want" and if they don't get for any reason, parents are made to feel bad......this is my last word on the coming festivities.....or maybe not

Hi Carol, how's the chocolate? Steve comes home tomorrow then departs again Tuesday. I may get out in garden today, or I may not, time will tell. My mind wants to, just have to wait and see About the body.

We had a walk down to the craft market today and I bough some warm freshly made macaroons, couldn't resist.Rasberry, vanilla and banana.Delicious.I We also bought a driftwood sculpture. It has an owl sitting at the top and a little goat (both very realistic looking)standing at the bottom and a little bit of greenery. It's 2ft 6in high and about the same lengthways.Had to move stuff around to make space for it,and the charity shops will benefit from the overspill.....I got the windows finished,so a good day all in all.

Sorry, Mandy.

Thanks Ron im going to try n get out of it if i can..hoping its a mix up really.i will ring monday n see what the script is.💕

Carol even with the wee baba in play my take on xmas is still bah humbug . To much hassle n pressure cant be ar*sed to be honest. 💕
Sandy yum yum i think i could go veggie for that lol 😆💕

Much loves n hugs to all. 💝💞💕 :ghug: Must go back to sleep now 😴😴

Oh, my thoughts go out to you Carol! I hope you feel better soon.
I just have to say that generally I like Christmas, don't like the commercialism or expectations to spend or appear cheap in some people's eyes aspect, but love the festive moods, get togethers, decorations, and music. Don't like that I usually commit myself to too much, but that is my fault. But have you ever heard of a bah humbug grinch type personality for Thanksgiving? I know I'm referring to mainly an American holiday here (and Canadian on another similar day), but to find a person cynical enough to not want to "give thanks" on a day set aside for it? The irony isn't lost on me, but that is perhaps the day I'm least thankful for. I've grown to detest thanksgiving, and this year is no exception. Just call me the thanksgiving grouch.
Carol is right, Trysha, WHERE ARE YOU?

Sandy, I'm similar with my attitude towards Thanksgiving. It seems like it's become mostly just a holiday for eating too much food and getting into arguments. I've also had some personal tragedies that happened right on/around Thanksgiving - in 1998 one of my best friends died suddenly in a house fire 2 days before Thanksgiving, and in 2006 my grandpa had his cardiac arrest the day before thanksgiving. He called me thanksgiving morning from the hospital, asking if I could go pick up his car! He nearly died (he technically was dead for a few minutes) and his big concern was his car, he didn't even want to tell me the full extent of what happened so he just said he had "a little heart thing". I didn't find out until later how close of a call he'd had - they had to defibrillate him 7 times before he came back to life. And now of course, my grandpa died for real back in May, so this is my first thanksgiving really and truly without him.

So yeah, personal tragedies plus the fact that I just simply cannot physically overindulge in food without severe consequences, plus the fact that there almost certainly IS going to be an argument this year (we have to go to my in-laws' and we're pretty sure they voted in a different way than we did and my father-in-law drinks too much, so politics is inevitably going to come up and just ugh). I'm all for xmas, but thanksgiving frankly I could live without. The only good part is playing bingo with my mom's side of the family (I won a cat-shaped teapot yesterday at bingo!). Bingo aside, bah humbug to turkey day.

I think people just get carried away with it all and the commercialism is appalling. We've had Christmas forced upon us for over a month now and it's not funny.
There are millions of people worldwide who don't know it's Christmas, either through religion, poverty, remoteness, ill health etc. Also the forced jollity is overbearing. It's also the worst time of year for fights and accidents. And come the New Year how many regrets are there when the credit card bill pops through the door ??? None in our house that's for sure,we spend NOTHING.
Having drank copious amounts of water the cystitis is easing, but I've worn a path to the bathroom and exhausted myself in the process.I'm going to the health shop tomorrow for triple strength cranberry tablets.

Hey Ron, I see your team is playing mine tonight! Redskins vs Packers! I don't have high hopes for my Packers, they've lost 3 games in a row. You know things are bad when the Detroit Lions are currently leading the NFC North, eek!... But at least we're still not as bad as the Bears, ha ha.

Oh sitting on the fence here Cat n Ron..best of luck to both your teams ☺

Carol hope your trouble is short lived hun.💕

Im all for giving thanks myself.. there is a lot in life to give thanks for..but does it have to end up being a commercial event. Shouldnt we just give thanks each day and count our blessings. Which despite our many woes are plentiful. Im not a very religous person but if we are to celebrate christmas it should be for the real reason and not a money fest. Anyhow enough of my whinge ☺

Love to all 💟💞💝💕

Hmm, I'm going to have to turn on the TV tonight to see who to congratulate and who to send condolences to...
(Trysha dear, I know you have been around at least somewhat and if you're not up to checking in, I understand. Just know we are all here for you.)

This has been a truly sad weekend. The UTES lost to Oregon, 30-28. Oregon scored the winning touchdown with 2 seconds left in the game. The loss means we are out of the running for the PAC-12 championship.

Well the water seems to have cleared the cystitis.so I'm doing the same today to make sure. It's a continuous drink one-pee one, so I won't be leaving the house today but it's a rubbish day outside so I'm not bothered.
Trysha,I was glad to see you're around but I really hope you're not too sick to post ?

Ron, congrats on your team winning. I went to bed before the game was over but it was clear by that point that my Packers were going to lose (again). It's just not their year. Oh well!

Ron, I used to like our quarterback - still do, I guess, but he's not been playing so well lately. And he's dating some silly woman who has apparently alienated him from his family, I don't like her at all.

Carol, I'm having bladder issues lately as well. Not sure if it's the pred? It feels like I'm always sort of on the borderline of getting a UTI, but so far I haven't gotten one. It just feels like, there's a weird pressure and urgency in my bladder, and it gets worse if I don't drink enough water. I've had bladder issues for many years but they've never been diagnosed - it's never been like this, though, which is why I'm wondering if it's pred. At any rate, I'm tapering down my pred, so hopefully soon things will be better. I hope your bladder issues clear up as well!

You might want to check into a condition called interstitial cystitis Cat. I have an unofficial diagnosis of that myself from GP, and it fits. My family already had its thanksgiving meltdown, argued on phone and thru texts all day. can only go up from here. Actually think things will really be ok (as far as my family can be ok) from here on out. We're taking a niece and my brother to dinner on Thanksgiving as I'm not up to cooking a whole meal, niece is a student without cooking facilities and brother just alone (and helpless). Not as good as a homecooked meal, but also don't have to do dishes. (Multiple other siblings, grown nieces and nephews all out of state or doing own thing.) Last heart test tomorrow, will be out of my misery soon with TG and tests done.
Keep drinking water, ladies.

I called my doctor with my symptoms. He wanted to put me on a suppository that cost four hundred dollars after insurance. No way!

Ugh! Why are meds so expensive in the US? Oh yeah, they kind of have us at their mercy with med needs and supply and demands. There has to be a system that combines the best of universal health care and the choices we have here including choosing own doctor and changing if want, plus lower wait time for most things. And definitely some sort of anesthesia during scopes no matter what.

Even generics can be so expensive here. I was recently put on Lotronex (didn't work and made my face break out into a rash). Fortunately, with my insurance it was only $10. Without insurance, I was told it would be over $3400. !!! For a generic IBS med?? Um, nope!

Sandy, I've heard of IC and I think I will ask my primary care doc about it. I usually get my yearly physical done in January anyway so I can ask about it then. I'm also actually seeing him on Wednesday for a consult to see if I can get an IUD (with this new administration coming in, nobody knows what's going to happen with women's reproductive rights, and everything I've read has suggested it's best to just get an IUD because that should outlast this administration!). But anyway, I'm not sure if I can ask about IC at that appointment or if it's strictly for IUD discussion. Guess I'll find out.

Cat, there is no way even Trump can take away birth control. That just isn't going to happen. But if you want some form of it that will last, regardless of who is in office, that sounds like a good option to me. I hope things go well for all upcoming appointments.

Hi all... hope your appointments go well and if your feeling poorly you soon feel better.
Trysha hope you are ok 💕

I have to have a repeat scan on the 4th Dec as my last one was blurry in parts..😯 didnt want to do that prep again so soon 😨

Love n hugs to all 💕💙💞💝

Sandy, he can't take it away, but he surely can make it much more difficult to have access to, make it more expensive, etc. I'd rather just do this now and be set for the next few years. It's not even... I hate saying his name. It's not even the president-elect, it's his VP who really terrifies me on this regard. He is a very vocal opponent of reproductive rights for women. At any rate, I'm 37 and don't ever want kids so I feel like an IUD is a good option for me regardless.

Mandy, oh no! That really stinks, I'm so sorry you have to drink that awful stuff again so soon! :( If it makes you feel better, I have an MRE on Dec 2, so we're scan buddies. I am sure I will have to drink something icky as well, I'm already dreading it myself. You're not alone!

It's sad that someone else should have a say in our reproductive rights. Hope it works out for you, Cat. I saw an article that ever since he won the election, doctors have reported that women asking about IUD is on a huge rise.

Hey Mandy, you poor thing. So sorry you have to do that again.

Tryshaaaaa, where are you?

Sandy and Carol, hi :) Hope you guys are chilling :D You too, Ron. When is your surgery?

Tomorrow. I have to be there at seven.

Has anybody else heard of the concept of a "survival bribe"?

http://www.xojane.com/healthy/japanese-7-elevens-anxiety

I had read this article in the link above, mainly because it was about the magicalness of Japan (it really is as wonderful as she describes, if you read the full article). But the last paragraph of the article really got to me. It says:
A smart person once called stuff like my daily journey to 7-Eleven a "survival bribe" against anxiety and depression. Survival bribes are the little kindnesses we pay ourselves that give us reason to get out of bed, put one foot in front of the other, to carry on.

Oh my goodness. That is SO me! I buy myself so many presents just to keep moving one foot in front of the other. Sometimes life is really hard so I give myself a lot of survival bribes. I was thinking about my upcoming MRE last night, and I kept looking at cute fuzzy slippers online. I kept thinking, if I can just find the cutest and fluffiest slippers ever, that might somehow make everything okay, and I can even wear them during the scan. It's my survival bribe to get through this scan. Do you guys do this sort of thing as well?

(For the record, I've narrowed it down to a couple cute pairs of slippers, but I can't decide which animal should be on my slippers - fox or owl?)

Hi everybody! I am sitting in the cardiologist office waiting room while Sandy is having her stress test. It's suppose to last about 3 hours. Real fun!

Good luck Ron. We will be thinking of you.

Hey Doug. Hope you have a good book with you. I took a book with me when S had his MRI but I could hardly read 2 pages. I kept thinking about how hungry and bored I was :D
