I'm OK today folks.I think we all get low sometimes and this time of year is the worst.
I miss everyone I've loved and lost.I miss the excitement of Christmas and the happiness.
But there are so many people worldwide with terrible things happening in their lives.
So I count myself lucky to have had a happy life, with lots of love and no worries. It's the same now of course, but there are less of us.I've got absolutely nothing to be miserable about.......Loved the pillow case story Cat.You're so thoughtful.

Yay, floor day! They should be here any time.
Mandy, I appreciate your kind words. Unfortunately, I'm not very good at explaining myself at times. Also unfortunately, the lung condition I got diagnosed with at the ER the other day is just an additional lung condition caused, most likely, by the lung function test itself, of all things. The pulmonary hypertension is a permanent, rare condition and that is what they are trying to find the cause of (could be a number of things, probably at the top of the list is the blood clots they found in my lungs about three years ago, but also having sleep apnea, part of my narcolepsy, and asthma don't help). I'm fortunate that this wasn't diagnosed 20 years ago, because life expectancy was only 2-3 years then. Depending what caused the PH, and like IBDs, the severity (and prognosis in this case) is highly variable nowadays. A lot of people live for a lot of years after. If anyone wants more information about PH here is a link: http://www.phassociation.org/AboutPH. Gotta go make my bed before they get here.
Have a great day everyone.

Hi Carol, I was apparently writing my post as you posted yours. Glad today is better. Later I will have to tell a funny story related to what you were saying about cows. It involves my special needs foster son and is hilarious...

Sandy glad you found out the cause of your lung issues and can get better. Hope the racing heart settles soon.💕

Hi Mandy. Unfortunately the Pulmonary Hypertension is the likely cause of the pleurisy and not the other way around. I wish the pleurisy was the cause of the lung problems. I really do! The more I read about Pulmonary Hypertension the scarier this is to me. Sandy has really been struggling with all this going on. And she is right. If this was just 20 years ago, people with Pulmonary Hypertension would have a life expectancy of only 2-3 years. Thankfully this disease has much better treatment options now, and there are people with PH who have lived for many years after diagnosis.

This is a very scary condition. But so is IBD if it isn't under control. Sandy will get there. I am sure of it.

The insurance company has denied our appeal, for the same reason the first appeal was denied. The FDA requirement for Humira is one injection every two weeks and the insurance company will not budge. It looks like I will be starting on a new biologic. Either Simponi or Entyvio. Entyvio is my guess, as the insurance company has told us they would approve it.

I'm exhausted today. The "sleep disruptions" side effect of LDN seems to have kicked in. Fortunately, poor sleep/vivid dreams usually only last about a week tops from what I've read, so I shouldn't have to deal with this for very long. And obviously if LDN works then a week's worth of poor sleep will be well worth it.

Remember a little while ago how I said I was a bit worried about my cat? I'm a bit more worried now. She didn't eat all her food yesterday - there was food left over in her dish this morning that she hadn't eaten. She never leaves uneaten food! And, she had vomited quite a bit in the middle of the night, and the vomit was all water. There was no food in it at all. I had to smell it to make sure it was puke and not pee, it was just completely liquid. So that's worrying that she's apparently not eating at all and is vomiting water now. Hubby made an appointment to take her to the vet tomorrow afternoon - he even arranged to leave work early to do so (so I can tell he's worried too, and he claims he doesn't even like my cat). And usually our vet is booked up for a few weeks in advance, so for them to squeeze us in the next day like this, that also leads me to believe that they think it's a serious situation. Ugh. Wish us luck, I think we're going to need it. I'm scared we're going to get bad news tomorrow. My cat is only 13, not very old as far as cats go, but this is very worrying to me. I don't know what I'd do without my Lydia kittya!

But since I'm used to being a professional patient, at least I'm going into this prepared. I wrote a long list of questions and concerns and info for hubby to give to the vet (same thing I do for myself prior to a doctor visit). Hubby is a bit clueless when it comes to doctor stuff, so I feel like he needs a list from me for the vet. At least I can do that part.

Good luck Cat, thinking of you.
I'm in Picton at the moment, it's the top of South Island. So I'm in the same island as Steve. Yay! We are here till 22/12. He's working here since the earthquake. It's nice to be together again.

Floor looking good (oo, pretty!), but not finished, they have to come back tomorrow after my ultrasounds on my legs. Will tell funny story then, exhausted tonight.

Aw, poor kitty cat, Cat. Cats (and dogs) are people too.
So glad you finally get to be with Steve, Kirsty. Will you cook for our party again, Chef Kirsty? (Did I ever tell you that my grandfather was a professional baker (with his own business) from Denmark?

When it rains, it pours. My furnace stopped working yesterday - hubby and I got home from work and it was quite cold in the house. Furnace was blowing air, but it was cold air - no heat. Hubby figured out the problem but of course it wasn't something he could fix on his own, so we had to call the after-hours emergency furnace repairman to come out and fix it. It took him like 3 hours to show up and it was very pricey, ugh. That was not a fun time. At least the furnace is fixed now, though. It's bitterly cold out (wind chills of -15 F) so we absolutely need to have heat in the house!

My cat seems somewhat better today - she ate some of her food this morning and didn't vomit, so that's progress. Hubby's still taking her to the vet this afternoon anyway.

While waiting for the furnace repairman, I got 2 more of my Bambi pillowcases sewed. :) Just one more to sew and then I can mail them out to my cousins. They are so cute and of course bring back happy memories. I think my cousins and my brother will love them.

Sandy, that's cool about your grandfather being a baker. I forget the exact relation, but one of my ancestors a few generations back was a milliner - she made ladies' hats and had her own hat shop. That sounds really cool to me and maybe explains where I get some of my crafty tendencies from. :)

Sandy, I'm sure you'll get through this too, as in every other case. Sending good luck your way.

Hi to everyone! It's a sleepy sleepy morning. I just can't wake up before 7.30 am nowadays. Ugh!

You annoy me who allows this annoying pop up

Hi Trysha. I'm sure everybody will want to see this post from Jennifer.

http://www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?t=79802

In another thread, Jennifer's post says "This was implemented by the owners of the site without discussion. Once I became aware of it I contacted them and am trying to get it removed. So far they said they will try and see if they can make it so it doesn't pop up more than once as it is a nuisance but to me it goes against everything the forum stands for. I understand the need for ads to stay afloat but as mentioned this is too far."

Hello Everyone
Thank you all for your kind concerns...this has been a long journey for me but at last there are some slight improvements and here's hoping for a faster resolution.
Currently there is a very annoying advert for this Dr Amin appearing in my LOW website and I don't know how to eliminate it....it almost covers the site for corresponding with you all.it seems to have attached itself in the lower right hand corner of the LOWpage.
Any suggestions?
I have reported it to the management but maybe it's a bug that's crept into my pages.
Any suggestions for its elimination will be most welcome..
There is a problem with the website in that it is difficult to hold onto the page while posting

Hi Ron....I'm beginning to move forward on this long journey and really appreciate the kind thoughts you have all expressed.
We have had lots of snow...just as I am about to venture outdoors....I have really missed my walks, but gradually getting there again.
How are you....I saw that you had a few complications yourself and hopefully these are getting resolved

Welcome back, Trysha! Yeah, the pop-up is happening for all of us on all threads, it's seriously annoying and I hate it. As Doug mentioned, Jennifer is working on getting the forum owners to take it down. In the meantime, if you are using Chrome as your browser, you can install AdBlock and use that to block it.

Welcome back Trysha. We missed you :) Glad to see you are getting back on your feet.

Hey Trysha , nice to see you back posting again , take it nice and slow and you will get there ,
I'm doing well apart from a chest infection that just wont go away , but thats just a minor issue compared with most people on the site , hope everyone feels better for Christmas Day (or whichever day you do celebrate ) .

Trysha's back,YAY:dance::dance::dance: You have no idea how much people missed you.
Tony is right, take it slow and steady and you will get there. But Tony, you are wrong about one thing, the "just a chest infection." Everyone here is dealing with different things, and some may sound bigger or scarier than others, but your struggles, and everyone's here, are not to be trivialized because they are yours! And you've been thru some major things! Some of us are just more vocal than others.
Myself, this cough since my lung scan, is getting most annoying. I can never sleep long before I have to wake up coughing. I'm sure I'm about to drive Doug bonkers with all my hacking and wheezing, but he has, of course, always just been the gentleman and doesn't complain, just offers support.
The good news, the flooring people after being here almost two full days, are (almost) done! It looks beautiful and lightens up the place immensely. The part that isn't done is the estimator who came out and measured beforehand miscalculated on a couple trim pieces in a couple door spaces to bedrooms and the installers need to exchange trim pieces, then come back with the correct kind of transition trim between the hard floors and carpeted bedrooms. It all looks nice though.
I still need to tell my funny cow story, but it won't have the same impact after some past conversation has moved on, but I'm still going to tell it later today. It has me chuckling to myself just thinking about it. Just need to go back to (cough cough) sleep again for a tiny bit...

Best to everyone. I am a kid in a sixty year old body enjoying a Yogi Bear movie one day and a Scooby Doo movie another.

It doesn't matter Ron,as long as you're enjoying it.They don't make 'em like they used to eh?.Has your scalp healed ok since your op.?

Ron, I love cartoons! There's no shame in that! I also like playing with Legos, and I own an embarrassing amount of stuffed animals. Do what makes you happy. :)

Speaking of happy, I finished sewing my last Bambi pillowcase yesterday, and I got everything ready to be mailed - just have to go to the post office (doing that later today). It makes me really happy to have this project completed, and all my cousins can have a little bit of happy memories to tangibly hold onto now. That makes me feel really good.

Sandy, I want to hear the cow story! I love cows! Sometimes I tell my hubby that I want a pet cow. He reminds me that we live in the city and cannot have livestock. I tell him that I will register it as a dog and put a collar on it and take it on walks. :p Think that'd work?

Sure it would Cat 😆
No one would know the difference at all...
Glad your gifts are all complete. I am sure they will be treasured.💕💕
Trysha so glad to hear from you hun. Keep on trucking girl. Big hug.💕💕
Sandy sorry i miss understood your post on the lung issue. Hope it can at least improve re the coughing soon. Big hug 💕💕
Ron hope it stops hurting soon. 💕💕
Love n hugs to all :ghug:

Hi Mandy,I bet you're worn out with all the "hysteria" at work.I hope you get plenty time off to enjoy Jaxon's first Christmas.Have you had you results from your scan yet ?

Sandy your post really cheered me up and brought tears to my eyes , I really dont know what i would do without this site , it has kept me going in the worst of times even when i cant post and just browse it has kept me going ,
Really sorry about your cough and funny enough mine started after a chest mri with contrast , the only med keeping it at bay is solpadol (codeine and paracetamol)
anyway we are still waiting for the cow story :D

So not much time with Jaxon but il make the most of it
No news yet on scan probably be after christmas now before i here.

Mandy, no worries about what you understood or didn't understand about my lung condition. I'm sure Carol is right, that you have had practically madness at your work right now. I had noticed that you haven't posted as much lately and was a bit worried until I thought of the time of year. 💛
And Tony, I don't think many of us would know what to do without this forum. And that is funny about when your cough started...
Ok, funny story following, a little sad in some ways, but funny nonetheless. And not what you will expect, Cat.
Oto (our former foster son that we still claim) came originally from living on the streets in Guatemala (he is very street smart) then a hospital for a year for malnutrition (shouldn't have survived), then in an orphanage, then was moved to the states as he was adopted by a family here in Utah who are extremely conservative. He saw just about everything in Guatemala, then was very sheltered here, and between his backgrounds (and lower functioning IQ in many ways), it was hard to know what he knew and didn't know. One of Oto's favorite pastimes is to go for rides in the mountains and canyons to look for wildlife like deer and moose. (I'm sure some of you may have noticed we still do that occasionally.) On these sightseeing trips it is nearly impossible to get to deer and moose territory without passing some farmland with cows and sheep, etc. We had had Oto living with us for several years and had gone on many a such trip, when one spring day while passing a pasture with cows and their newborn calves, Oto became very contemplative and said "it's a good thing humans don't do that." I asked what he meant and he said "You know, eat like that." I looked over and realized he was watching the newborn calves... I had to explain yes, (some) humans do that too (and explained a little more). He was in a little bit of shock, and so were we at that point.

P.S. Besides what I said above, Mandy, half the time I can't understand what I'm saying myself, and oftentimes I miss speak. Ask Doug. I often say exactly opposite of what I mean!

So do i sometimes hun ☺. Especialy when tired,so i get where you coming from on that.. aw cute story on the cow n calves ☺. Bless him what a tough time Oto had. So glad he got to the states and got you two in his life. Im sure you have made such a difference to his life. 💕💕💕

Sandy, that's sweetly innocent of him that Oto didn't make the connection!

Reminds me of being a kid and having all sorts of misconceptions about how the world works - my favorite one is, when I was about 4 or 5, my mom and I were going to go somewhere in the car, but my parents had a junky car and it wouldn't start. So my mom told me she was going to have to call a tow truck. I didn't know what a tow truck was, and I presumed the word was "toe" and not "tow." I then envisioned a truck body that walked on big giant toes, instead of on wheels. :p Like a truck on tippy toes. How I thought that was going to help with our stalled car, I have no idea, ha ha. I was really disappointed when the tow truck showed up and it was just driving on regular wheels. My disappointment must have shown on my face, so my mom asked why I was so disappointed, and I said, "I wanted to see the toes!" It took her a minute to understand how badly confused I had gotten, but she did eventually come to understand that I expected it to have toes instead of wheels. :D So that's my toe truck story.

That put it smile on my face.[emoji2]

The insurance company has denied our appeal, for the same reason the first appeal was denied. The FDA requirement for Humira is one injection every two weeks and the insurance company will not budge. It looks like I will be starting on a new biologic. Either Simponi or Entyvio. Entyvio is my guess, as the insurance company has told us they would approve it.

My GI is not giving up quite so easily! He is filing another appeal, taking this case further up the insurance company's chain of command. There are 2 more levels of appeal that can be taken.

In the meantime, he has provided me with samples of HUMIRA. I am supplementing them with my old prescription, which gives us 1 shot every two weeks.

Good luck, Doug! Sometimes these things are worth fighting for. I know I had to fight my doctor for months to get put on LDN (and even so, my insurance won't cover it - fortunately it's a fairly cheap med, I'm paying about $40 per month out of pocket for it). I hope all these appeals get you somewhere!

Well, all you lovely people have made me smile today.Thankyou.

The four most beautiful words in our common language are.....I told you so !!!

Sandy,Have you got the dance floor finished for the party ???

Tony's going to teach us Irish dancing, but I know we'll have to do it in our socks.

Michael Flatley (spl?) has got nothing to worry about.

Nope nope nope. I am not dancing. :p I am possibly the world's worst dancer. Sandy, please tell me there will NOT be dancing at our party! I seriously would rather run the marathon than try to dance.

I can't stand "Irish Dancing" esp Flatley with his fake Irish accent , the real Irish dancing is set dancing which is kind of like barn dancing and people have a lot of fun doing it .

I love to watch Irish dancing! Those that want to dance can, those of us who don't want to, don't have to. Yes, the dancing floor is all finished (minus a couple pieces of insignificant trim, which should be done this next week.) Western line dancing is popular around here lately, but I've never been able to do that with my limited physical abilities. This will date me, when I was in high school, I dated a guy from another local school who they called "the disco king." He made my dancing look good, but truth is I've never had an ounce of my own dancing abilities.

Ha ha, Disco king! Okay, so this might also make me sound old - when I was in high school, my mom was reconnecting with some of her old friends that she had in high school. One of her friends had a name that was very similar to Donna Summer (the disco queen!). So this lady called one day and I answered the phone, and she asked to speak to my mom. I asked who was calling, and I swear she said Donna Summer. My eyes got wide and I was like, "Moooom! There's a disco lady on the phone for you!" Of course it wasn't really her, it was just a lady with a very similar name. :p

Haha made me chuckle all your little stories😆😆
Hope everyone has had the best day possible
Big hugs 💕💕:ghug:

OK Cat and Sandy,if you won't dance, how about a song.I know Tony will have a few ballads to bring a tear to the eye.Hahaha

Trust me Carol, you do not want to hear me sing. You really don't! I'm musically and rhythmically challenged, I can't sing nor dance nor play any instrument. The only time I sing is when I'm in my car, by myself, with the windows rolled up. :p And even then it's not pretty.

Ron, stay safe in that weather, don't go out if you don't have to. We're getting snow here, it's just started. They're saying we might get 10 inches of snow in this storm, yuck! And then brutally cold weather again, they said wind chills of -35 on Sunday. Um, ew. I will be staying in! Going to hunker down with some sewing and some crafts. Stay safe!

Cat you take care in that snow hun...
I see we are also singing and dancing buddies 😆.
Sounds as if Ron is as good as we are too...😃 💕💕

Ha ha. I went to the store earlier today, and there was a little girl there and I think she was trying to sing "Let it go" from that Frozen movie, but she was getting all the lyrics wrong. And she was singing it super loudly and off-key of course. She was singing made-up lyrics such as, "Let it show, let it show, with the kids and the park and the kids and the things!" :p

That kid is still a better singer than I am. Hah! :D

I can't carry a tune in a bucket either. But I can play the piano, well, a tiny bit. And I have a lovely cream colored baby grand to play if anyone is interested in playing it.
Had a trip to family doc to get a C-pap situation straightened out, now on pred for still wheezing lungs after lung function study (and created an upper respiratory infection in addition). I hope I can get a little energy to work on my barely started projects. Christmas is too close.

And I've never seen the movie "Frozen", but it is freezing cold here. In fact, it's snowing, with a little lightening earlier, not to common in snow. It's definitely not nearly as cold as the Midwest or Wisconsin (brrr!) In fact, we had near record highs a couple times in past few days, now snow.
Did I ever tell you Cat that Doug's sis lived right there in Madison for a year but couldn't handle the cold? She moved there from hot Vegas suburb, lol.
Ron, be careful. Freezing rain is scary.
And no Cat, your story, though funny, didn't make you sound old. It made it sound like your mom is from my generation, which I petty much knew was the case.
Time to crochet. (I think the pred is starting to kick in.)
Winning

P.S. Major awards will be given to those who attend the party. Carol, I've made arrangements with your son to be here, so you can't bah humbug this party. 🎄🎄🎄

Sandy, as my aunt once said, pred is great for projects! And I think I'm the opposite of Doug's sister, I'd hate to live in Vegas, too hot! My guts don't like hot weather at all. Then again, my joints aren't crazy about cold weather. But I've lived in WI all my life, and here in Madison for something like 15 years now. Sure, winter can be hard, but I don't mind it that much. I mostly hate driving in snow, but I do plenty of outdoor winter activities - snowshoeing, ice skating, etc. The hubby even mentioned going skiing this year - I've never been downhill skiing, so that could be fun (or it could be a hilarious disaster!).

It's snowing heavily here as well but no thundersnow (that's apparently the actual term for it) yet. Have fun crocheting! I have sewing to do tonight, I have one last xmas present to make and then I'm DONE! Woo hoo!

OK Cat and Sandy,if you won't dance, how about a song.I know Tony will have a few ballads to bring a tear to the eye.Hahaha

I know a lot of sad ballads , and they will bring tears to your eyes , whether its my singing or the sad songs , I will leave you leave you be the judge .

Oh dear Ron...just when you can do without an extra expense, blooming typical eh !!!💕

Cat iv still got all my present shopping to do yet 😯. Thankfully im off mon tues n weds so i can just about get it done in time for christmas. 🎄💕

Sandy hope the pred helps hun. Dont be polishing the dance floor to much as we could all end up in heap 😆 💕

Mandy, oh my, I don't envy you! I've finished my shopping and I've just finished up sewing my last hand-made gift and wrapped it. So I'm DONE! :D Whew!

I'm in shock right now. My uncle just told me that a few days ago, my grandma was found with no pulse and not breathing and they thought she died. But then she took a breath and came back on her own without CPR/defibrillation and was apparently fine. No heart attack and they're not sure why her heart stopped. That's really scary. Her doctors apparently said it's just a part of being old, but I'm like, NO, that is not just a part of being old! Peoples hearts don't just stop randomly because of being old! I'm in shock and terrified now, afraid this is going to happen again but that she won't start breathing on her own again. She's the only grandparent that I have left and I just lost my grandpa in May, I can't lose my grandma so soon after losing grandpa. I'm crying, so scared for my sweet grandma. She's 84 and has Alzheimer's/dementia, I know she won't be around a whole lot longer, but it's terrifying to almost lose her. This is how I lost my grandpa, too, I got a call on a Saturday morning that he was gone. When my phone chirped this morning, I morbidly thought, what if that's the call about grandma? And it almost was. Sorry for the rant, guys, I'm just emotional right now and can't deal with any more loss this year.

Thanks Ron. I'm alternately sad, terrified, and angry. My uncle is being so flippant about it. He's saying that my grandma isn't worried about it so I shouldn't be. Um, she's got severe dementia, she cannot remember that she's supposed to be worried, she cannot remember anything about it! So of course she's not worried, she has no short term memory! Ugh. I'm not wrong, my uncle is wrong! This is a worrying thing!

Aw Cat how worrying ... send love n hugs to you and praying your grandma is around for a long while yet hun.💝

Thanks guys, I'll be okay, it was just so scary. I appreciate your support so much. :) Group hug!

Your welcome hun . Thats what friends are for, here to listen and support anytime you need us. :ghug:

Going back a few posts now but...A little funny miss heard story of mine is that...i use the phrase "gordon bennett" alot regarding when things go awry or wind me up. Only a year or so back i found out my son (27yrs)always thought i was saying "god and bennett". I always said he never listened to me 😆.

So sorry Cat.Unfortunately illness doesn't recognise Xmas, and just gate crashes when it feels like doing so.Not inferring that you don't worry about your Gran at any time of year of course. Her Guardian Angel is looking out for her that's for sure.

On a different issue.Of the eight or so houses I can see from my front window, one has a Xmas wreath on the front door, and only the corner house has a few indoor decs up,for the
grandkids.I can't even see any if I crane my neck.Looks like I'm not the only misery guts.(Just saying)

Had to share some good news. My son's bodd created a new position for him so he could pay him more money.

It's 13 below here and a bit c-h-i-l-l-y......
Any one like a shovel or two of snow to enhance the Christmas spirit?
Too cold for walks just yet....
Winning........

Here are a few photos from another wildlife seeking adventure in South Fork Canyon yesterday with Oto. We saw tons of deer and three moose. The two I show here are a mama moose and her calf a little ways down the hill, plus a couple sunset shots from the vehicle. And it is now down to 13°f at 10:35 pm. Plus the pred burst of energy only worked the first day, in spite of 40mg per day. (I really liked it:ysmile: ;)), but at least the asthma and cough aren't as bad.

Hooray! I just got a call, my GI *finally* sent the LDN prescription over to the compounding pharmacy!!! I'm overjoyed, it seems like I've been waiting forever for this day! And ironically, this isn't even the day. :p I get done with work at 5:30 PM and the compounding pharmacy, which is on the completely opposite side of town, closes at 6 PM. With good traffic I might have a chance of making it there in time, but in rush hour traffic, not a chance. So I will go first thing tomorrow morning when they open. Tomorrow's the day! LDN! :D :D :D

I'm starting at a lower dose, 2 mg to start with, and if that goes well then I'll move up to the normal dose of LDN which is 4.5 mg. Wish me luck!

What is LDN?

This thread started as a game. The last person to post is the winner, until somebody else comes along and posts. Thus this game is never ending. LOL.

Doug, it was -8 here this morning and that's without the windchill! Eek! It's supposed to get up to a balmy 15 degrees today, and tomorrow it's going to be 30 F! That sounds positively tropical compared to the weather we've had lately. :p

Sandy, I love your pics! We don't have moose here, but hopefully soon I will be able to go eagle watching. There's a spot on a river not too far from here where bald eagles like to congregate to fish, and their numbers are highest in January. It's very cold, but very beautiful to see them. I always take a drive out there to go eagle watching at least once every winter.

It is COLD. The space heater has become a part of my body. Hope everyone is having a good day!
