Well,if you don't mind me saying,I think you've over done it.Do you really need two ?:rof::rof:

What is this winning about?

What Doug didn't tell you is THERE IS NO PRIZE !!! :(
We discuss our ailments,or trips out or what we've eaten. Some of us talk rubbish.Anything goes.(more or less).Oh,and the Utes THINK they're the champs, and we LET them think so. Anything for a peaceful life.:ylol2:

Technically, as a supermoderator, I could post and then lock this thread, thus ensuring that I am the winner for all time. :p But I'm not mean enough to do that. Although maybe on April Fool's day... ;)

(Kidding of course!)

Mandy, the thing about candles is, eventually they'll melt down and become nothing. So if you're not into decorations, that's the way to go - just let them melt down and you won't have any more decorations up! Nothing to put away, either! Win-win! :)

Speaking of decorations, I put out a bunch of pretty lights on the shrubs and hedges in my yard. I noticed that one shrub wasn't lighting up any more. When I went out to inspect it, I found that a squirrel had chewed through the wire! Ohh, naughty thing! They steal all the bird food from the feeder and now chew up my xmas lights too!

Oh naughty little critters....

I dont even light the candles Cat so i guess il still have the trouble of putting them away...😆

Hey, I head that! :voodoo:
And welcome Meljordan. :ghug: What Carol (Scottsma) didn't tell you is that is we took possession of the prize about five years ago. But we are willing to share so long as you stick around.

Well, truth be told, the only decorating I did was thru instructing one of my hired teenage helpers how to set up a tabletop Christmas tree. No outside lights or decorations up at all up (unless you count the two regular porch lights, one of which is burned out, and has been for a while. I guess we should change that bulb. Unless I find a squirrel ate through the wire in which case I'll have to hire an electrician. :rof:) I even gave my helper carte blanche on decorating the tree out of a couple boxes of Christmas decorations. Madhu, I hope you're being careful with that space heater, they scare me. And Cat, my one trip to Wisconsin (which I absolutely loved, stayed at a lake cabin and did some sightseeing), we saw a lot of bald eagle, way more than we see here. They are such magnificant birds to watch. And there was a very ugly snapping turtle we saw in the yard slowly meandering back to the river/reservoir/lake. And though I didn't see it, there was a black bear wandering thru the neighborhood I understand one night.

Excuse ME! The UTES are the Champs simple because we are the UTES! We might lose a football game once in a while, but because of our vast superiority in Life, we are the Champs.:dance::dance::rof::rof::rof:

Sandy, this is a bit morbid, but my father-in-law is a hunter and my mother-in-law looooooves xmas decorations and always goes way overboard. So FIL has several mounted deer heads in the house (I find them awful, I don't understand why someone would want a dead animal head on display). MIL decorates the dead deer heads for xmas. :p Red rudolph nose and everything! I think she even hangs mistletoe from their antlers (I'll have to look when I'm there on Saturday). It looks similar to that horse, but of course I'd take a live horse over a dead deer any day!

And yes, we do have big snapping turtles here! I was on a bike ride once a couple of years ago - on the bike path, not going off-road or anything like that. I rounded a blind corner, and all of a sudden I had to brake quick - there was a HUGE snapping turtle right on the path! Fortunately he stayed still and I was able to get around him. As for bears, though, we don't really get them here - I'm in the southern part of Wisconsin, and bears only seem to be up in the northern parts of the state. We do get plenty of wildlife here but it's of the smaller variety - raccoons, skunks, opossums, coyotes, etc. We had a skunk get into our outdoor garbage can on several occasions this year, so now I'm really careful when I let my dog out to potty because I don't want her to get skunked!

Yucky poo, as an former co-worker used to say. I'm not particularity fond of taxidermy myself, especially heads mounted on walls. But that is kind of funny in light of my pic.

Yeah, I've never liked taxidermy. It gives me the chills! Like, there just should not be a dead thing that looks alive-ish and is staring at me for all eternity with creepy dead glass eyes.

Going back a couple posts - speaking of close football games, wow, the Packers really made for a close game on Sunday! I really thought it was going to go into overtime. Glad we beat those Bears though! Now we just need Detroit to lose another game or two and we might actually make the playoffs. Go Pack!

My wife does my dressing every day and she says it looks like fairly healthy skin is up on my scalp where the surgery was.😊

Good news Ron. Hope all is going well with everyone. Our move is finally over. Boxes everywhere I look that need unpacking and sorting but I'm too tired to do anymore this evening so I thought I'd check in and see how you folks are doing in the real world.

Winning.

Hi Shanen. Glad your move is done...shame it wont unpack itself. Just do a bit each day and dont exhaust yourself. 💕💕

Aura, that beach looks beautiful, and of course Jammer is always adorable. Thank you for the photos, that brightened my day. :)

I'm coming down with a cold and feeling grumpy about it. But, I also did expect this, just not quite this early - I always seem to catch a cold or virus at xmas time. Usually I see my nieces & nephews on xmas eve and one of those kids passes some germs to me and I then get sick. This time I haven't seen the kids yet, so I must have caught this cold from someone at work (lots of people at work have been coughing and sniffling lately). Hopefully this means I won't also catch something from my nieces & nephews! Here's hoping!

This is to remind everyone but Kirsty and Trev. We may be moving down there for the winter. It looks sooooo beautiful. And Jammer is looking more beautiful each day too.I love his coloring.

I thought my shopping and crafting for xmas was all done. Well, technically MINE was done but I guess hubby's wasn't. Last night, hubby had "that tone" in his voice - not the sexy tone, the "I need a favor" tone. He asked if I had "a scarf or two" made up that he could give as gifts to co-workers. (I sometimes stockpile handmade scarves in case last-minute gifts are needed.) So I said yes, but then suddenly he decided he needed to take 3 of my scarves - I only had 4 total in my stockpile as I had recently donated the rest to a women's shelter, so he left me with one scarf. Gee, thanks a lot. Then he was riffling through other stuff looking for a brooch to give to his icky aunt (I had a couple cheap costume brooches on hand also to be used as last-minute gifts and he ransacked those). He sure couldn't be bothered to shop but he can go through my little stockpiles! I guess that's an upside to my hoarding tendencies, I'm like my own little gift store. :p

you should put price tags on your stuff Cat , at that bery least it might make him value your craft items more [emoji102][emoji102]

I love that idea, Tony! "Sure, you can have 3 scarves. At $15 each, your total comes to $45. I accept cash only." :p Hah!

Haha Cat that would teach the cheeky monkey 😃. Plus extra dollers for more craft stuff...win win me thinks

The only Christmas shopping done in our home is my shopping for Sandy! I get to take her shopping when I get home tonight.

Hey Doug your lucky...id love to take Sandy shopping ☺
As im so far away might have to online shopping though 😆

I want to go shopping with you guys too! That would be so fun! We could buy SO MANY craft supplies, ha ha. And we could get Mandy another candle (or would three be too many?).

Ha ha, I have a surprise Doug! (And you won't see this until you get home.) As I'm sure all of you have picked up, I've been a bit like Jammer, just don't want to go any further. I've hardly been able to do anything this past month, even getting myself to my zillion med appointments has been hard and I've usually had neighbors and/or Doug drive me. Today I had a routine neurologist appointment, and though I managed to drive myself, I was in rough shape when Doug met me there. However, about the time I was leaving and Doug was going off to a mandatory training session in another vehicle, my second "wake up" (for "excessive daytime sleepiness/narcolepsy) pill (taken a little early) plus the last dose of pred kicked in. I was finally able to do some Christmas and a tad of grocery shopping done. In fact, I think I'm about done. Now I've just got to wrap presents and get ready for the Christmas Eve party. But I will take anyone up on craft shopping...

Hi all...glad your near on done now Sandy, hope Doug enjoyed the surpise!!

I bought my daughter in law (ish) craft supplies for xmas as she is also a crafty girl..

To be honest its as rare as rocking horse poop that i buy online..i like to see the items im buying b4 i buy really.
By eck this post was hard work..keypad locked up a few times 😕
Hugs to all 💕💝💞

That's a typical "man" thing Cat....but I hope he won't be giving YOU a scarf for xmas ;)

Ha ha, Carol! No, hubby and I usually don't exchange xmas gifts, and he told me he did give the 3 scarves to people at work (the boss, the other boss, and the dish washer - hubby said a chef should always be nice to their dish washer). I tried to teach hubby to crochet once, but he got frustrated and quit, so unless he's secretly taken up crochet/knitting when I wasn't looking, I don't think he'll be giving me a scarf. ;)

I did a lot of my xmas shopping online as well. I did a lot of crafting and a lot of online shopping. The only time I really went to stores to xmas shop was going to the craft store to buy more supplies, and going to the bookstore to buy some books to give as gifts. Everything else I either made (crochet or sewed) or bought online.

I honestly don't know what I'd do without online shopping! Especially when my flare was at its worst, I sure didn't want to drag myself to the store to buy stuff. It was so nice being able to just order things online.

I agree. I don't make it to big stores that much because I don't drive so I don't drive so online shopping makes it easier. I got my wife pajama jeans.

I tried to get Sandy to do that. One thing to remember when online shopping for your spouse, have the package gift wrapped. I ordered a new CD Player (kind of a joint gift for us) and it came in the products original box. It announced to the world what it was, and Sandy picked it up when it was delivered. OOPS.

Hubby and I don't exchange gifts or cards etc. He's very generous and his heart's in the right place, but I don't know where his brain is.He actually doesn't know very much about me at all,'cos he doesn't LISTEN !!! There isn't anything I want to be honest,I'm a cheap date.I even bought myself perfume last week.I'm finished at the shops until after the hols. It's ridiculous how much stuff I've got in the freezer, fridge and cupboards, but it will get used.

I went to a café that serves breakfast anytime,so I ordered " French Toast during the Renaissance"

Carol, your husband sounds like mine. When we were dating, hubby worked at a flower shop. So he got a very good discount (wholesale, I think) on flowers. But did he ever remember to send me flowers? Maybe twice in the 4 years that we were dating. And never since he stopped working at that flower shop. I gave up, and like you with your perfume, I just buy myself flowers now.

Doug, if I'm buying hubby a gift online and don't want him to see it, I have it delivered to my workplace instead of to my house. That way I can wrap it, hide it, etc and he can't see it.

Oh! Speaking of hiding gifts! The other day I was a bit headachey, and chocolate sometimes helps my headaches. But we didn't have any chocolate in the house, I ran out of it and hadn't bought any more (I've since remedied that situation). Hubby said something to the effect of, he had some chocolate hidden in the basement!! Um, what?! He went down to find it, but either he couldn't find it or couldn't remember where he hid it. He came back upstairs chocolate-less. I'm not sure what I find more shocking, the fact that he'd hide chocolate from me, or the fact that he couldn't find it! If I hid chocolate, you'd better believe I'd remember where it was hidden! So I was doubly upset with him, that he was hiding chocolate from me AND couldn't produce said chocolate. Ugh!

That French toast sounds lovely Carol. It is my favorite breakfast food.
I too am headachy today. I woke up in the middle of the night with the classic migraine aura, couldn't see for quite a while except in splotches, and then migraine came on fast and furious. I overdid it yesterday, but it was worth it emotionally. And even though I have a headache (the very worst is over) I have to drive to Salt Lake for an appointment to be fitted for and pick up a new CPAP my doc ordered.
What Doug didn't tell you in his story about the CD player coming in a marked package is that we both had the same idea in mind, so it probably saved us some aggravation of having to return one. Plus we got our new flooring, and that is supposed to be our gift to each other. Merry Christmas to us! As for ordering things online and delivering them to Doug's work, he really can't do that because he works for the state, has to be careful about mingling personal property and state property and time. Plus he works in an area that is locked away from where the general population and even most state employees have ready access because of the sensitivity of his work. Also being government as opposed to private industry, Doug's work can't even have things like a Christmas party (or any employee appreciation party) without everyone having to chip in and pay their own way because it is taxpayer dollars.
Well, off to get ready. I need chocolate. Carry on all.

Doug's job sounds so secretive! Is he a spy? Or a secret agent?

My hubby is a chef. The only secrets he learns at work are things like, how to make custard. :p I'm pretty sure that's not actually a secret, either.

Doug's job sounds so secretive! Is he a spy? Or a secret agent?

No. Nothing quite that secretive. There are 23 of us state wide that perform unemployment tax audits. Yes, I am the big mean tax auditor. I have actually had people tell me I am ruining the reputation of tax auditors, and that is a good thing.

Our offices are locked away because we have access to data provided by the IRS. That data has to be under lock and key and behind secure doors.

Suuuuure, Doug, a likely story. You can't fool me. I know you're really a secret agent. ;)

So you guys remember how I was worried about my cat? She had some bloodwork done and it came back normal. Her kidneys are fine and it's not cancer. Phew! She had been doing well on pred for allergy issues, but the vet took her off of pred recently and that's when she started acting lethargic, not eating much, etc. The vet said she could go back on pred, and it's like I have my cat back. She's feisty and vocal and hungry and playful again! Off of pred, all she would do was sleep and drink water. Now she's begging for food, for catnip, for attention, for treats. Pred is apparently her miracle drug! So I'm guessing she'll be on pred for a long time (she's 13). Cats fortunately metabolize pred much better than us humans do for some reason, so it's safer for cats to be on pred long-term.

Aw glad puss is ok Cat..i must say i hide things then never find them again or at least till what i was hiding them for has passed ie xmas or birthday..😯

Im not buying the tax man story either Doug 😆
Sandy hope the cpap helps hun.

Big hugs to all 💕💕💕

I probably won't be on the forum much the next few days. So I hope everyone has a good holiday, even those of you who are bah humbuggers. ;)

To all my crohnie family.....Keep well, keep warm, and be content.Hugs to you from Mrs.Grinch.....AKA Bah Humbugger.xxx

Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you all snuggle up with your families and enjoy with great health :)

Ok ham is in the oven, nearly ready to come out. It has pineapple and ginger glaze. Steve mad a loaf of bread. So ham Sammies for tea. It's good to be home again.

Merry Xmas guys, I hope you have a good one and don't pay for it on boxing day, I am sure I will. cant believe its xmas eve already, seems like we just had one a few months back. I am on here most days checking on you guys although I don't post very often, had a MRI yesterday to try and find the cause of the headaches, if they find something, it may help the brain fade. here's hoping.

Merry Christmas to you to Trev, sorry to hear about your headaches. I'm already paying for it by eating gherkins and olives with lunch.

Kirsty that looks great hope you enjoy it ☺
Hi Trev hope that the scan helps find the cause n you can get treatment that makes the headaches go away.💕

Well, it's barely into Christmas Eve day here (about 2:45 am), so it will be interesting to see which of you shows up when for the party considering the time differences. Kirsty, that ham looks delicious! I'm making clam chowder, fruit salad, a veggie tray, putting out rolls, crackers and cheese, cold cuts, and I'm going to cheat and buy a pie. Most of my family that was coming are chickening out due to a snow storm coming in, don't want to travel the 30 miles in it. Their loss. At least I'll get to see one brother (that we have to pick up from the same general area, about 30 miles away because he doesn't drive) and Oto. And we have each other. And Doug's niece is having a baby today (lives near Las Vegas), poor little Christmas fella will have his birthday forever overrun with Christmas doings. Doug's first grandnephew thru blood (have several on my side). I'm excited to meet little Grayson hopefully not to far down the road.
Trev, I really hope they can help your headaches. They get old fast, and never come at convenient times.

I'm on my way Sandy.Coming on Little Blackie so I may be a bit late (unless Mandy passes me in her little sporty job and offers me a lift.Blackie will have to take the back seat,so any surplus prezzies will be donated along the way.

Kirsty, please don't do that to me.It's bad enough you showing pics of Jammer, but I was drooling at the ham pic....But at least it wasn't "chook".
Trev, nice to see you around.Best wishes to you and yours and better health next year. All of you.

Hey Carol there will be plenty of ham at Sandys. I thought if I showed you pics of what I was cooking you'd all make sure you're on your way [emoji16]

We are supposed to go to my son's for an early Christmas this afternoon. My stomach has been acting up the last few days. I hope it settles down .

Don't overdo it Ron.It's too easy when nice food is placed in front of you.Just have a "little"bit of everything. But it's Christmas and you won't be the only one to suffer the consequences.Enjoy your day.

The ham looks so lovely......on my way to the party
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Yearbook
