Happy New Year everyone.
Many thanks to admin for getting us online again.

It's nice and quiet here, I hurt my knee falling in chicken coop before Christmas. It's still swollen and hurts every time I bend. I can't put weight on the knee. So I'm strapping it everyday so it doesn't buckle on me. My doc said I had bruising but I'm thinking it's a bit more than that.

Happy New Year, everybody! I hope everyone had a good time. I had a long weekend off from work, and hubby and I got a bit lazy. We just sat around for a good chunk of time watching TV and playing video games (I did do some crocheting). So finally yesterday afternoon, hubby said we should stop being lazy and go out and do something. We ended up going to a toy store and buying ourselves some new Lego sets. :p (No, we don't have kids, the Legos were for us - when I was hospitalized back in August, I found that Legos were a great distraction from the hospital and the flare, so I became a bit of a Lego fanatic at that time.) Then we came home, and built Legos while we sat around watching TV. :p It was a fun, lazy weekend. I hope everyone else had a good time too!

Hope you are all enjoying the New Year
I was hoping to leave behind all the negatives...aches and pains etc but some of them want to stay!!!
Currently undergoing torture at the physio clinic......it's has to get better than this...
Can't believe it's raining and not snowing.....but then that will come later and suddenly we wake to that beautifying landscape of pure white and a silky silence to soothe even the most fractured nerves.
Loved all your pictures Sandy
Kirsty and Carol and Cat and everyone hope you are all feeling better and up to enjoying
a new year with all its mysteries....and appointments...shhh....
Trysha

Kirsty...I just saw your accident report
I damaged my knee some years ago and now it has come back to haunt me
The orthopaedic surgeon did a total knee replacement last October and I am still recovering
Very painfully from that.
Would have been better to get it properly treated years ag instead of taking family docs advice..
In my opinion. Would be far better for you to get the help of an orthopaedic specialist soon.
Have you tried ice packs on it... have found this to help with the pain
Take care
Trysha

Hi Trysha thanks for that. I've been thinking I may have pulled or stretched a ligament on the outside of my knee. If I get an orthopaedic referral I'll get him or her to check out my compacted sacrum as well. That's from my skiing accident when I was 16.

Kirsty and Trev, I just saw on my weather and earthquake app that there was another big earthquake near Figi. I hope it doesn't affect you with anything like tsunamis.

Doug went back to work today after being off since the Thursday before Christmas. I was kinda liking having him around. Darn, my slave has gone. . .😉
Sorry about the knee Kirsty, that doesn't sound fun at all. And sorry recuperating is taking so long Trysha. I also wish I could have left aches and pains in the old year, but if I didn't have aches and pains every day I wouldn't know I was alive. And I'm jealous of the Legos, I'm a kid a heart and that sounds like fun. When I was a kid I loved making houses with Lincoln Logs. Anything to do with houses and floor plans, I've always loved it. I guess that's why I went into real estate after being a legal sec for years. (Rats, had to quit when health declined. )
We just had Ashley (former foster daughter) here for evening, finally gave her her Christmas presents (spoiled her too) and I even managed to cook most of a lovely roast chicken dinner. Had chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, green beans, jello salad. Doug made mashed potatoes, I made rest, including the gravy from the drippings. Yummy if I say so myself. (So myself. He he.) Chicken dinner, we're the winners!

Think I'd like to come to your place for some of that food Sandy but no chicken
What is the jello salad?
No sleep tonight too much pain......have to wait three hours for the next pain med.....
Wish there was more could be done.
Have to wait two weeks for the surgeon to return from his well earned holiday....nobody else wants to touch it......thems the breaks......
Good thing I have the iPad and LOW for company

Big winds have arrived, it apparently snowed in Otago and cold front on its way up the island. Steve, Jammer and I go back to Blenheim on Friday. Steve made a chocolate zucchini cake yesterday, it was yummy.

Kirsty, its suppose to be summer there! The snow is here in Utah right now. Next storm moving in tonight.

A scientific paper published in 2016 had more than 2000 authors,including 38 Wangs,3 Dings,3 Dongs,a Botti and a Brest.

A new organ in the digestive tract has just been discovered. It's called the Mesentary and was originally thought to be fragmented, but has now been proven to be entire. It's not known yet what role it plays but it could be significant in future digestive tract research. It was first mentioned by Leonardo Di Vinci in the 1500s.......so no hurry then !!! :yfaint:

P.S.This has just recently been published in the Lancet according to todays web. news

Hi Shanen! So nice to see you. How are you doing these days?
Cool, Ron. Nice to see your sunshiney face, as always. I wish I knew how to be brief, like you. 😎😎

You're right Trysha, I don't know what we would do without LOW and technology that allows us to connect with each other, organize our calendars (with its multiple doctor appointments) and organize other things, listen to music, look up stuff and maybe even play a game or two, etc. ,etc. I'm sorry you have to wait so long for your surgeon to come back and the pain is giving you so many problems🙁. Sometimes when I'm having difficulties I try to practice "mindfulness" techniques, a form of meditation. It doesn't take pain away per se, but it does help shut out all the other riff raff so things aren't so overwhelming.
I've been getting similar results to your having no one else want to touch your knee problems, it seems that almost anything I bring up with any health care practioner the reply is "I'm not a cardiologist" implying they don't want to do anything that could even within a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of an inch affect what is going on. It seems almost everything has to be run through the cardiologist, and he is so hard to get in to see. To answer what is jello salad, it is any jello (flavored gelatin) mixed with fruit or other things (in this case fruit and a whipped topping, so basically a desert).
Today I have one of my "helpers" coming, so happy about that. I also plan on going thru some of my multiple boxes from when the flooring was installed. This has beer a lot slower process than anticipated, but I'm getting there.
Hi everyone! :ghug:

Wow! I just googled Mesentary and there are some interesting articles out there.

Sandy, is it boxes of craft supplies that you're going through? You'd be proud of me, I packed up my un-needed sewing machine (I still have 2, didn't need 3 though) and also packed up some fabric and thread and various other sewing supplies, got rid of a big box of craft stuff. Giving it all to my niece! She's 13 and has told me she'd like to learn to sew, so now she'll have everything she needs.

Speaking of sewing, I had a bit of retail therapy today and also gave myself a new sewing project in the process. :p I went to the thrift store and found a very nice, high quality warm wool coat in a soft grey color. It's slightly too big on me, so I'm going to move the buttons over slightly on it. I think I'm also going to remove the shoulder pads and make a few other tweaks to it. It's going to be a really great coat once I tailor it to fit me.

Yep, craft supplies, tools, and papers. I have too many unsorted papers right now, that is what is the biggest problem. Some craft supplies are sorted, a few aren't, but now I've got to figure out which spot everything is going in. Oh, and too many books.

Since the forum came back up, I have not received any emails telling me about posts.

Doug, I think they're still working on it. I'll tag Jennifer here just to make sure she's aware and can convey that to the forum owners.

Oh yay, the forum allowed me to log back in. How are you everyone?

I have been trying to get my face off the gadgets. We seem to be getting terribly addicted to it. I don't think it's working though :( Not going to give up! Definitely going to reduce tv time and using the phone. Maybe I should uninstall few apps from it.

Since the forum came back up, I have not received any emails telling me about posts.

I've got this problem too. It'll be good if somebody could fix this. Thanks to anyone in advance! ●‿●

Madhu, I'm trying that as well. Usually in the evenings I just veg out and watch TV, but I'm trying to do something productive instead. Last night I succeeded - I kept the TV off and I did some organizing. I got a new gym bag, so I took everything out of my old gym bag and organized my things and only put in the new gym bag what I really need and got rid of some unnecessary items. Then I went through all my workout clothes and organized those and tossed a few things that are old/don't fit. And then I also went through my pajamas and organized those and tossed a few things there as well! I feel quite organized now, ha ha.

I'm going to try to have at least one evening a week where I do something productive and keep the TV off. I think I can do that.

Organizing is a constant issue. Cleaning out clutter helped tremendously but I still can't find what I'm looking for when I need it.

I just thought I would point this out (because it is cold here today.) 11°F (-16°C) currently about 1:30 pm.
Collage%202017-01-05%2013_06_16-2_zpsjdrwofto.jpg

I totally misread that at first and I thought it said "6 months till spring." I was like, noooo, that's so far away, surely that must be wrong? Then I read it again. Duh, Cat. :p

Whew! I'd die if it were months. And I also thought of you, Cat, when I saw the sweaters for chickens. I wonder who in their right mind would actually make these, though? (Not implying you would, Cat, just know you crochet a lot.)

I got out of the office and performed some site visits today. Man that was a mistake. It is COLD out there! It is currently 13F (at 3:50 pm this afternoon).

Sandy, admittedly I have not crocheted a sweater for a chicken. I did make one for Lily a few years ago though! I'll try to find the photo. It's quite difficult making a sweater to fit a corgi, they are shaped so oddly. :p A chicken would probably be easier!

Found it! Apologies in advance if this photo is huge. I made Lily this sweater about 5 years ago (she's 8 now, we got her when she was 2). She hates wearing any type of clothing and won't look at the camera when she's modeling an outfit. :p

My husband's GI called today and said his recent labs shows elevated inflammation. So he wants to do an MRI as soon as possible. It's been eating me since. We have enjoyed a year of remission. I hope it continues :(

Love the sweater Cat. Allie hates even wearing a collar (which she can slip out of because her neck is as big as her head) or a harness, but if I get it out she comes running because she knows she gets to go out so tolerates us putting it on. The minute we get home she fidgets with it until we take it off, however. Spoiled dog.

Brrr, it is now 7°f (-14°c), a town Doug used to have to travel to regularly for his work is currently -17°f (-27°c).

Tomorrow at 8:00 am the forecast for here is for 1°f (-17°c).

It's -4 here right now with a wind chill of -14. :( Too cold!

Lily loves wearing her collar, if I take it off of her to brush/bathe her, she'll pick it up in her mouth and bring it to me to put it back on her. But anything else, including her harness, she absolutely hates wearing. We always have to put her harness on before going for a walk, and she acts like I'm torturing her as I'm putting her harness on. But then once it's on she's fine. :p Silly pooch.

Alex has a working collar for daytime and a different collar for night. He likes to smell the daytime one when I take it off.

Rescue battery hens need them because they lose their feathers through stress
and dirty conditions etc.I never buy other than free range eggs :(

My attic is beginning to bother me.I really need to get up there.Well,it's tidy actually, but every time I buy a new lamp or rugs or cushions or blinds, the old (?) stuff goes up out of sight.I know there are at least 3 foot stools, and framed tapestries.Oh,I'm going to stop now, otherwise I won't sleep tonight.

It just came to me......the key to happiness is low expections....now go forth all of you,and be happy.

Forgot to mention.....they're advertising Easter eggs on TV, and they're in the shops,as are hot cross buns.(a traditional fruity bread roll with a cross on the top)

I would be speechless, but it's not in my nature as you know.

Carol, the stores here are just putting out their Valentine's Day things, I haven't seen anything Easter here yet in the US. I can tell you though that Easter is HUGE in Japan! I went to Japan a month after Easter, but at Tokyo Disneyland, they still had their Easter decorations out and were doing the Easter-themed parade. From what I read, because Japan loves all things cute (or "kawaii"), and since bunnies are cute, Easter is therefore super popular. It has very little to do with the holiday itself, they apparently just love cute bunnies. :p

Ok, now it's -2°f, with a feels like temp of -24°. The US seems cold in many places. My sis who lives in Ely, NV, it's -18, with a wind chill warning of -41f. My nephew who lives in Hawaii, it's 65 however. I feel a little obsessed with these temps right now. :ywow:

I miss my pet bunny I used to have, who I had occasion to walk on a leash and harness, believe it or not. His name was Circles.🐰

Sandy, I know a couple people who live in Atlanta, and apparently they're getting the "worst" weather. ;) They're supposed to get 3 inches of snow, and the reports from down there are telling people to prepare to hunker down in their homes for at least 3 days. Seriously! We're getting 3 inches of snow here on Monday as well... we just call it Monday. :p No need to hunker, just drive slightly slower and all will be fine.

It's "warmed up" to zero degrees here, but it's still saying -14 wind chill. Yuck. My poor dog is getting cabin fever, I can't walk her when it's so cold. I need it to warm up just slightly!

Cat,isn't there an island that is for rabbits only .Visitors go to it on the ferry and walk among them . I'm sure it was one of the Japanese islands. It was on TV a while ago.I'm sure it was rabbits but it could have been cats.

We've been hovering around -25. Today is 1 (with a -11 windshield). It's the first day above zero this week. Bring on spring soon please.

Carol, yes, both! In Japan there's a rabbit island and also a cat island! They were quite far from where we were in Japan (we stayed on the main island, mainly in the Tokyo and Kyoto areas, and I believe those islands are very far to the southwest). There's also a fox village called Zao Kitsune (kitsune means fox, not sure what zao means). I had thought about going there, but I read sad reports online - people saying that the foxes got no veterinary care, so they saw limping foxes, foxes missing ears, etc. That sounded very sad to me so I didn't go to Zao Kitsune.

my brain scan just came back normal, I bet that surprised a few of you, I was hoping to find something causing the headaches and fatigue, I don't believe its crohns fatigue as ive had that for years, this fatigue stops me in my tracks, and I am told it makes me a grumpy so and so, I prevents me posting on here as I sit here most times staring at the screen unable to think what to write, just waiting for it to kick in today. someone suggested I drink Tequila, I don't drink but am willing to try anything, anyone tried Tequila for crohns problems?

Trev, just a long-shot, but have you had your iron levels checked lately? I had low iron and horrendous fatigue in 2015. I got iron infusions, and not only did my fatigue go away, but I found that I now get far fewer headaches/migraines. I didn't realize that my headaches were at least in part due to low iron. It's worth having your bloodwork done if you haven't lately, at any rate.

I have not tried tequila specifically, I haven't heard of that one before! Most alcohol makes me feel worse so I can't imagine that tequila would be much different.

Hi all just checking in... yep im still alive 😃
Busy knackered n got a cold but otherwise just peachy ☺
Off to bed now but il be back (wards) soon 😃
Big hugs :ghug)

Trev Pina Coladas are working well for me. [emoji483]

Trev.I don't believe for one moment that you're grumpy.hahaha.But please don't beat yourself up 'cos your fatigued, let the rest of the family beat you up instead.
Seriously though, there's nothing wrong with just sitting there.Because you've always been active your mind is telling you what you should be doing, but the old bod is in disagreement.Go with the flow for now,it'll be ok soon. Hugs.

Aura, I've tried to get my dog to walk on the treadmill - she won't do it, she hops on and hops right back off again. But hmm, maybe if I got her a dog-sized treadmill... ;)

The land of my fathers Ron.....my Dad was a Glasgow native.
Places in the highlands are very similar to some places in Canada....Loch Lomond is similar to Banff,Canada
Very cold here today....snow is on the horizon...
Very terrible happenings in Florida...glad we did our travelling before all this terrorism.
Prayers and heartfelt best wishes for speedy recoveries of the injured and condolences for the bereft families.
It's very quiet on the forum tonight ...think I am the only one not asleep

Hi Kirsty, how's your knee ? It's 10-55am here and 8c. I've prep'ed a stir fry for hubbies lunch, put some leek and potato soup in the slow cooker, made some bird cakes and tidied up.Going for a walk along the river soon.Thank goodness the hols are over and the public toilets are open.Ron,we know Scotland very well.Mostly the highlands and the north west. It's very close to our hearts. Please warn them about the Scottish Midge (midgee)
though if they're going near the lochs, rivers and trees.I don't think anyone has something good to say about the nasty little blighters.....Trysha,nice to see you, how's YOUR knee doing, and the rest of what's left of you,of course.I'm assuming something horrendous has happened in Florida ? I haven't seen the news yet. Will have a look now.Back later.

Hi Carol how are you...you are sounding quite sprightly and it is nice you can take such lovely walks. The leek and potato soup sounds great...might make some myself.
There were several people killed and six injured..three are in intensive care.
The gunman had a gun for luggage and opened fire shooting people in the head at the baggage reclaim area.
He ran out of ammunition and laid down waiting expectantly for
police to arrest him.it happened at Fort Lauderdale a very busy resort terminal .

Oh no thats terrible about the shootings. It showed up just after i posted mine. 😯😠. Makes me so angry what horrid things people do....

Just out after having a gastroscopy , just waiting for my cup of tea and getting the results

This is for Trev......I'm great at multi-tasking.

I can waste time,be unproductive and procrastinate all at once.

Thanks Ron! I was surprised that the Packers played so well, I was really expecting it to be a much closer game, I didn't think the Packers has it in them to do so well. Next week is the real challenge, the Packers are playing the Cowboys. I *really* would love for the Packers to win that one, but I don't know how realistic that is as the Cowboys have been almost unbeatable this season.

So, you guys, I realized - my car is now 16 years old (2001 model year). My car is old enough to drive a car! :p Should I get her a new car for her sweet 16 present? ;) Ha ha!

What news Tony ? Hope it's good.

They found some polyps in my stomach and they took biopsies , they also took biopsies for antral gastritis (that's a new one for me)
So overall lots of biopsies taken and some waiting time for the results :mad2:

It could be worse it could be snowing , darn I forgot that's coming Thursday .

Oh,well at least the day's over.I hope you don't have to wait too long for results, and that nothing needs "tweeking" for the time being.Yes,it looks like winter might make an appearance this week, but the sooner it gets here the sooner it goes.Hopefully.

I hope the best for you, Tony. And Cat, I hope the Packers can beat the Cowboys.

I like to root for the Packers, but especially this week! I can't stand the Cowboys! GO PACKERS!!!!!!!

Well the appeal process is over. Insurance company won every step of the process. However, my G.I. decided to provide me with 2 Humira pens a month to supplement my old prescription (which is approved). So I will continue to take my Humira on a weekly basis for the foreseeable future. The weekly Humira is working and he doesn't want to rock the boat. My G.I. is totally awesome!
