Ron, I hope your wife feels better soon! Keep us posted on the barium swallow, I hope you get the results you're looking for.

Cmack, I do drink a lot of water. I'm not sure the amount but I make sure to drink enough that I have to pee about once per hour. :p I'll let you know if I figure out something that works. It's definitely not fun to be our ages and have acne! I've been trying a bunch of different Korean skincare products, and a lot of them seem to be good quality and smell nice and seem to moisturize my skin and all that, but the pimples persist anyway. Korea is known for their skincare products so I was hoping that'd be the answer, but it isn't. Let me know if you figure anything else out too!

Hah, on that note, when we went to visit my grandma, apparently my mom was talking with one of the staff members, and the staff member asked her what college I go to. My mom told the staffer that I'm 37 so I've been done with college for awhile. :p The staff member was apparently very surprised! And at first I took it as a compliment, but then I realized, it's probably just the acne that's making me look young! Ha ha, oops.

Sorry to hear your wife has pnuemonia Ron... sending hugs n best wishes to her 💕

Hope all is ok with your barium test too 💕

I have psoriasis and the children in the Sunday School group I help with always ask what is wrong with my skin.

Cat im 54 n still get the odd spot or two.. in fact sportting a couple of lovely ones now. One on my chin n one at the side of my nose. As my nan would have said...i look a right bonney begger 😃.
Sorry if that info has not given you much hope of a spot free future 😕 💕

Mandy, well, at least I'll be in good company! ;) I might have to start wearing makeup just so that I can use concealer. :p

Allie is starting the glucosamine today and will start with injections in the shoulder starting tomorrow. I am truly amazed that a dog can get scheduled for a whole month of injections, twice a week, and we only pay $73.00. If it was for us Humans it would be thousands of dollars.

Doug, I've noticed that as well with my pets, it's so much cheaper than human medicine. Sometimes I think I should just put on a collar and take myself to the vet! :p

Hey Ron, I'm sorry about your wife. Pneumonia sounds really serious. I hope she gets better real soon. Hope your barium swallow results come back normal as well. Waiting is tough

On my end, I just discovered that I have a teeny weeny perianal abscess yesterday afternoon. It was draining mostly pus and some blood. Then it stopped draining for the night, and has resumed draining again today. I guess it was just sleepy last night XD

On a more serious note though, all of my previous abscesses (none of them have drained before) always seem to come and go. They're always around the same area and heal by themselves after a couple of weeks. I hope I'll have similar success with this one. I'll go to a doctor if it doesn't get better in a week. Wouldn't want to be hospitalised again :/

Time to learn some first-aid skills XD

EDIT: Need to get ready for an appointment with an eye specialist to check for EIMs. Catch up with you lovely people later :D

Doug...hope there is a good response for Allie and that soon she will be pain free...
Ron...sorry to hear about your wife and hope she will make a swift recovery....glad to hear the barium study went smoothly and hope for good results for you.
CYY...you seem to be having a trying time ....have you mentioned the abscess to your docs?
Good luck with your eye exams....feel better soon
My friend with cancer is not doing so well...a matter of time unless something is found that helps.....very depressing.
It has been a rainy day....hope for some sunshine to morrow.
Now I will return to listening to a Mozart music programme on tv...I really like his 🎶 music
very consoling and inspiring.
Winning.....

Thanks, Trysha! ^^

I just came back from the eye specialist. They gave me some eye drops to dilate my pupils, so my vision's all blurry now. The effects will wear off in about 3 hours.

Anyways, I was told that I've got a combination of myopia and astigmatism. I've been wearing thick spectacles since I was three, so it wasn't really surprising. Although the specialist had no idea what Crohn's was, she didn't see anything alarming in my eyes, so she told me to come back for a review in a year. So I guess I don't have EIM of the eye. Whew! :')

I've not mentioned the abscess to anyone yet, as I'm hoping that it'll heal by itself without having to go through surgery to get it drained. It's not causing me unbearable pain at the moment, and the swelling's reducing, so I guess that's a good sign. There's still some blood-mixed pus leaking out, unfortunately. I changed my panty liners (sorry to all the guys that had to read this!) not too long ago, so hopefully it'll last me for another half a day ._.

I've got an appointment with my GI doc tomorrow as he wanted to oversee me getting my second dose of MTX, so I guess if pus and blood is still oozing out of the abscess then, I may need to seek medical attention. I hate to skip school because of hospitalisations, and I think my teachers hate it too. Crohn's suck! D:

Anyways, I hope your friend responds to treatment quickly. Sending a bucket of strength your way ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ

Totally agree that Mozart is great. I like his music too :D

It's the middle of the night, but Allie has my sleep schedule more mixed up than normal. I'm really hoping for some relief for her soon.
Ron, I hope your wife gets well soon. I really feel for her. Trysha, I'm very sorry about your friend. I hope you and he/she can find some peace, and, God willing, healing. What you have said sounds like it must be very discouraging.
Though not the one with the IBD, I think its my turn to call the GI. I've had a lot of cramping and the big D with blood clots, probably just from hemorrhoids, but better safe than sorry.
Carol, have you been able to enjoy little blacky lately?
We've had some absolutely gorgeous (and record breaking) warm days, clear up to the upper seventies, only to be followed by snow a couple days later, then warm again, and then record breaking rain downfall for one day the other day. 2" in one day, more than our average rainfall for the entire month of March. (Utah is very, very dry normally.) It rained again today, and I sure love the smell of a fresh rain!
Cat, sorry your visit with your grandmother was not what you anticipated. It is indeed hard to watch our loved ones struggle. My mom is not too that stage yet, but I fear not far behind. And I'm sure Ron can tell you all about it. (My mom must had told me in our last conversation "I am 87 years old, you know" about 87 times. :ytongue:)
CYY, please take care of yourself and don't let your condition worsen.
There is a lot more I want to say, but it's almost 4am, so please excuse me if I didn't mention you. I will end with I hope you had fun in the park with little Jaxon Mandy! That is a pleasant thought to end on.

Wow, Sandy, your mom is definitely doing better than my grandma if she remembers what her age is! My grandma never has any idea what age she is or what year it is. When my grandpa died back in May, she had me take her clothes shopping so that she could get a dress for his funeral. And at one store, she decided to write a check, and she asked me what the date was. Then she asked me what month it was. And then she asked what year it was, and she started writing "19__" on her check. I was like, nope, it's not a year that starts with 19! And she is always shocked to learn that she's 84 years old. "I am!!??" is what she says anytime I tell her that she is 84.

CYY, definitely do mention the abscess at your appointment. I know you hate missing school, but you need to take care of your health first and foremost, and your doctors need to know about the abscess. I hope it heals soon, but your medical team really does need to know about it.

Trysha, I'm so sorry about your friend. I have a friend who just found out that her brain cancer came back after 4 years, so I can relate. It's very tough. I hope both of our friends can find some treatment that helps a lot!

Everyone is having a sad and worrying time regarding friends, family and their own ongoing health problems. Not forgetting Allie too,of course.I'm so sorry.

Whereas the worst thing to happen to me today was my cap blew off and a peddle came off my bike.Hubby was way ahead of me,but eventually realised I wasn't there, and came back to fix it.If only everything in life was so easy to put right.Hope you managed a few hours sleep Sandy, and that Allies meds.kick in soon.It might take a week or so mind you.

Carol, bicycle pedals are important too! I'm glad you didn't crash your bike when the pedal came off (that's the sort of thing I'd do).

I'm having a rough week all around. I think I need another joke from Cmack!

I just saw that, thanks Carol. They were a new member, that was their first post. So they apparently just joined the forum for the sole purpose of telling me that I'm making up my illness. Yeah, I'm not having that. I banned & deleted them. We're a support forum and I'm in no mood for jerks. Good riddance.

That's what I thought, but it's not my place to do the banning.Talk about making friends and being supportive !!!

Making up your illness? Wow!! People actually say that on this forum? I have only seen incredibly supportive posts. I have seen a lot of crazies on facebook though. There is a page for a 7 yr old girl who passed away battling brain cancer. People attack her parents too much with insensitive words. I personally can never stand all that. Good that you banned them, Cat!

A day in court

Judge: “Where do you work?”

Defendant: “Here and there.”

Judge: “What do you do for
a living?”

Defendant: “This and that.”

Judge: “Take him away.”

Defendant: “Wait; when will I get out?”

Judge: “Sooner or later.”

Had my barium swallow this morning. I don't think there is anything major going on. My wife went to minute clinic. She has pnuemonia.

Hey Ron hope your wife is ok and gets better soon . prayers and positive thoughts sent to you and her .

I love it, Cmack! My grandpa was a judge and I could totally see him saying something like that to a defendant. :p

Mandy, ha! Eggbert! :D

Thanks for the jokes, guys!

Thanks, Tony. Her temperature is 99.4. I think that is the lowest it has been since she has been sick. I can never hear the thermometer when it beeps.

Now here's a little story
To tell it is a must
About an unsung hero
That moves away your dust
Some people make a fortune
Others earn a mint
My old man don't own much
In fact he's flipping skint

Oh,my old mans a dustman
He wears a dustmans hat
He wears cor blimey trousers
And he lives in a council flat
He looks a proper narner
In his great big hobnailed boots
He's got such a job to pull them up
That he calls them daisy roots.

Ron I hope that radiologist further explained the reason for slower eating which could be due to esophageal narrowing or just a sluggish motility .Hoping your wife is improving steadily....must be some type of infection with such a high fever.
CYY glad to hear you came through your eye examwithout any sinister overtones.
I have the same eye problem as you...myopia and astigmatism.Used to have thick lenses but now with the marvels of modern science I have light weight lenses...high refractive index glasses...self tinting.......no more prescription sunglasses. Not allowed to have contact lenses due to repeated infections.....some of us have all the luck...
Cat...you have such an interesting family history....thank you for sharing.
Mandy...thank you for your helpful comments...this last two weeks is like a lifetime...but it is the results which count and it has certainly helped .
Sandy....hope things will soon improve for you all
Carol....sorry you lost your pedal...could have been worse...glad it was easily fixed ...I remember those times in England...sudden punctures....chain falling off etc....I always carried tools and first aid kit in my saddlebag...both needed at times.
A big thank you to everyone for all the support which has been so helpful

Thank you Ron
In the First World War at Ypres,France,he was gassed ( mustard gas) and left for dead on the battlefield.
He then was loaded onto a truck with other fallen soldiers but someone saw him move and he was resuscitated by the French who then transferred him to a field hospital where he was subsequently repatriated to England to a military hospital where he had a long stay .
Ayoung Fifteen year old when he signed up and pretended to be eighteen...as many did.
.For the rest of his life he had a graveyard cough which terrified us as kids...he was a stalwart and expected us to be the same.

After the war he had little time for the Germans, but this changed in later years.
After we came to Canada we sent him tickets for the voyage to come and spend holidays with us...he loved sailing.
This time we booked him on the Queen Elizabeth, but things went wrong when the ship went on strike.
Passengers were offered space on the Europa,a German luxury ship.
We thought he would wait for the QE strike to be over....instead he chose to sail on the Europa which turned out to be a good decision.
In the dining area he sat at table with a German gentleman and his wife.
They had quite a time recounting the war in France and it turned out they had both been injured at Ypres.they concluded each had been aiming at the other on the battlefield, quite a remarkable coincidence.
Then the ships captain invited my father to sit at the captains table
With other officers....he was quite delighted of course and a bit overwhelmed with the friendship and camaraderie.
Just goes to show better make peace than war.
Winning...

My grandfather serverd in the second world War. He was in the desert rats which I think was the 8th or 7th army. He was under Montgomery any how..
His tank was blown up but he survived it. In the mopping up period at the end of the war he also drove the big wigs round. I can't remember a lot of the stories he told. Most of which were only told on request as he was not one for doing the "when I was in the war" thing. He also had no problems with the German soldiers , he said that they were only doing as they were told just like him
My father's brother was lost in the second world War and is buried in Belgium where he fell.
I am so thankful for the sacrifice these people have made for us all. Also the sacrifices of their families.
They all have my deepest respect and gratitude.. 💞

Hope everyone is as good as possible today. :ghug:💕💕

Wow, you peeps have such rich family histories :O

My paternal grandfather was some sort of prison guard while my maternal grandfather worked at a shipyard. My paternal grandmother was a housewife while my maternal grandmother worked on the assembly line in an electronics factory. My dad used to be a project manager at construction sites before he was retrenched. It's so interesting to see how each generation's occupation is related to the country's economic development. During my grandparents' time, Singapore was a politically unstable place, where there were riots everywhere. Most of the population were too poor to afford an education and started working in labour intensive jobs when they were in their early teens. It was only during my parents' time when the situation began to clam down and the living conditions of people began to slowly improve.

My Dad was a sergeant in the Paratroopers in WW2.He never spoke about the war to us.I do have his de-mob papers and he had a commendation from his senior officer.I know he was shot in the calf and we used to joke that he got that while running away.Mam worked in a munitions factory and was in the Land Army too.She wasn't a country girl and she once spent a whole day hiding in a hedge when a fox ran across the field she was working in.........

My maternal grandfather, he served in WWII. I never met him though and don't know a lot about him, because he died when my mom was 17 so that was years before I was born. I never met either of my mom's parents, my mom was orphaned at 17. So I've only really had one set of grandparents, my dad's parents.

My grandpa who just died last year, the judge, he served in the army during the Korean war but he didn't go to Korea. The married men with families, the army tried to keep them out of combat as often as possible. My grandpa had just married my grandma and she was pregnant with my dad, so instead of Korea, they stationed my grandpa in France. He worked as a medic there. My dad was born in France (but on a US army base so he's not a French citizen, he's a US citizen). Later on my grandpa worked at a radio station, then went to law school and was a lawyer for many years, and then was a judge. So he had some varied and interesting jobs in his life!

My father served in the Army during the Korean war, but like CAT's grandpa, did not serve in Korea during the war. He was in boot camp at Fort Riley, Kansas. One morning he and 19 other men were called out of formation and the rest of the unit was dismissed. Those 20 men were exceptionally lucky. They were informed they would be serving with the Army in Germany. The rest of the unit was going to Korea. So he served in Germany after World War II. Later he re-enlisted and served in Korea, but after that war was over also.

Doug, that's sort of similar to my husband - he was in the army in the mid/late 90's and he had a couple tours in Kuwait, but he served between the two Pres. Bushes so it was during (relative) peacetime in the middle east. He saw no conflict during his time in Kuwait and when he talks about his time there, he mostly just complains about how hot it was and how much he dislikes camels. :p

My father was in Korea, part of the chosen frozen. Didn't talk about it. My grandfather was in WW2 at Pearl Harbor when the attack happened. They were moving their household because of my uncle being beaten up often for being white. They left the harbor and their car was being sprayed with bullets from the Japanese fighter planes. His ship was sunk so my uncle being beaten up saved their lives. My great grandfather was part of the King's Royal Guard in the Swedish Military and Spanish American War Cavalry division. Other Grandfather in WWI. Sister and me yep family of military.

Tomorrow is hubby's colonoscopy. Which means today is prep day 😱 I think by "prep", they actually prep you to lose the will to drink any more water. Hats off to all you peeps who do this.

Best wishes for his prep. May the liquid go down fast !

My dads dad was a mechanic in the army. WW II he was a tail end Charlie. Used to go in with the truck to bring back injured and the dead.

Steve and I celebrate ten years marriage tomorrow [emoji16]❤️[emoji175][emoji253][emoji898]

Had my second jab of MTX yesterday. Was too tired to do anything productive last night. Going to take folic acid tomorrow. I hope it gets better with every jab ._.

Abscess was draining a teeny weeny bit yesterday, so I spoke to my GI about it. He told me to monitor it, but if it doesn't get better by the end of this week, he'd refer me to a gynaecologist to get it checked out. I may need to be hospitalised to get it drained properly.

The good news is: It didn't drain at all today. So I guess it's healing. Yay! \(^∇^)/

Congratulations, Aura! I wish you another happy ten years :D

Totally agree with you on this one. Prep day sucks! All the best for your husband's colonoscopy. Hope the results come back negative for inflammation

Have a lovely day tomorrow,Kirsty and Steve.Very best wishes to you both.:heart::kiss::drink::rosette1::medal1::emot-waycool:

Hey CYY When I was on mtx I was taking folic acid daily to have a build up in my system before I took the mtx ,
hope you get good results , its a good drug when it works for you .

Happy anniversary, Aura!

Madhu, oh yuck, prep day is the worst. Which prep is he doing?

CYY, I'm glad to hear the abscess is (hopefully) healing!

Today it's been one year since I went to Japan - last year on this date, I was getting on a plane and heading to Narita airport. I wish I could go back! My guts felt so great when I was in Japan - of course being on vacation is fairly low-stress, and my guts loved the food, and I walked around a ton which my guts also loved. That was the healthiest I felt during all of last year, was when I was in Japan. I want to go back! But I can't afford to go back. Maybe someday...

Ha, we need to get organized on here and all buy lottery tickets together. Could you imagine if Last One Wins won the lottery! :p We could all meet up somewhere, if that place had enough toilets to accommodate us. ;)

Cat, he took Dulcolax + Miralax yesterday and Magnesium citrate this morning. Even his disease didn't make him feel this worse. The prep managed to do that in a single day!

I remember when you went to Japan with your mom. You were so excited :)

Oh, Dulcolax & Miralax, I've done that prep before too. It also made me feel terrible - it made me very dehydrated and I had to go get IV fluids. Not a fun time! Even though the Miralax was mixed with a lot of Gatorade and I was trying to drink as many other clear fluids as possible, I still got dehydrated. Yuck! The good news is, the worst part should be over for your husband now and the scope should be relatively easy. And he should hopefully start feeling a bit better once it's all over with and he can eat again. Good luck!

Yes, I loved Japan, that was the best trip ever. :) And it was nice being able to eat almost everything there without having to worry! My stomach loved just about everything I ate there, and we were there for 3 weeks and I ate a TON of food. But my mom is gluten-free and she had a really hard time finding GF foods, they don't really seem to know what gluten is in Japan and they put soy sauce in everything (soy sauce has both soy and gluten in it - my mom also avoids soy and she has an allergy to raw fish so that was very limiting!). It was weird that she was the one with dietary issues and not me! So anyway, we ate a lot of shrimp sushi (the shrimp is cooked and it was gluten-free and they didn't put soy sauce on it). Fortunately, shrimp sushi is delicious and we were happy to eat it just about every day! We found a sushi place in Kyoto that had really yummy shrimp sushi with avocado, yum yum. We kept ordering more and more from the chef and I'm pretty sure he kept saying things in Japanese about how crazy we were. :p We'd order 3 at a time, the Japanese word for 3 is "san", so we'd order san ebi avocado (ebi is the Japanese word for shrimp and apparently avocado is the Japanese word for avocado because that's how it was written in the menu) and the chef kept saying in a shocked way, "San??!" Like, really, you want 3 more? You crazy American ladies! :p But we didn't care, it was delicious and yes we really wanted san more. Ha ha.

Have a lovely day Kirsty and Steve and many more..
Talking of scopes mine are looming up June 2 .....have to drink 4 litres of prep...2L the evening before and 2L. Am early....the scopes day. Thanks Crohns!
Other preps forbidden due to renal failure...
Best to live in the moment day by day...take the rough with the smooth....talking of that
we have snow in the forecast for today.
Then we can enjoy the bliss of silent sparkling white snow transforming the landscapes once more with beauty refreshing our wintry composures.
Winning......

Thanks everyone for your good wishes. The scopes went well. His small intestine is completely fine, but the colon has mild inflammation. Not as bad as diagnosis last time but still a bit mild. Dr believes that tweaking the infusion schedule should do the trick but we can never know with Crohn's. I'm so relieved the tests are over. Prep was a real test of patience and love for the both of us. I was more stressed than him 😂

Madhu.Glad the scope went well...hope the infusion tweaking gets things under control very soon hun. Best wishes to you both 💕💕
Now then young lady time for you to de-stress ok 💞

Cat i think we should start calling you sushi girl 😃
Must admit iv never fancied trying it tho....not even sure why 😕

Thanks for all your good wishes. I'm happy no fog at airport today so I will be able to go and pick him up and think take him out for lunch.

Mandy and Ron, sushi is delicious! My very favorite is unagi, which is broiled eel. It's so yummy! It all sits really well in my belly, my guts have never been angry about me eating sushi, even when it's raw. Not all sushi is raw, so Mandy, if you're nervous about trying sushi, just ask the chef for non-raw sushi and I'm sure they'll be happy to oblige you.

Madhu, I'm glad all went well. I agree with Mandy, now it's time for you to relax and de-stress! Do you and your husband only have one bathroom, is that the reason you said that it was a test of patience? I only have one bathroom in my house so I know that feeling!

Sending love to you all, hoping things improve for all who need things to improve. If all is well for you may it continue to be so..
I am attempting to lay my head down to sleep... So I will bid you good day/evening... Hope you can have a good one which ever applies in your time zone. :ghug :💞💕

Ah may be I should put my brave head on and try the non raw sushi in the near future. I am a bit unadventurous in the food department, and not just because of the crohn's, always been like that. I really should get a life of haha😁

We have one bathroom Cat. But that's not the reason I said that. It was because I had to cajole him to drown the prep and finish it ;)

Oh I bet you did hun.. I know I would rather chop off my arm than drink that Devils brew 😈

Now really must get to sleep... 😴😴

CYY,

I hope you are doing OK with your recent abscess. Those are never fun.

Madhu,

Thank goodness that is over with. Sounds like relatively good news for your husband. :)

Fuzz,

Sleep tight!

Cat,

I like sushi too!

Ron,

I'm sending my best wishes for your family.

Wishing everybody well,

cmack

We have 1 and a half bathrooms! The half bathroom is sooooo small. It is off the master bedroom and only has a toilet and a sink. If I use that toilet, my knees bang into the wall opposite the toilet and sink. So the half bath does not get much use from me. Sandy uses it for her makeup. It is nice to have when the main bath is occupied and I have to rush.

Sandy is doing OK for her. Allie is doing better. Allie was put on a series of injections to help her joints. Sandy was trained by the vet's office today in how to give Allie the shots. Allie is still limping, but a lot less than a week ago. Things are looking up for Allie.

Cmack thanks..slept like a log
Only thing is i woke up with my head in the fireplace 😃
Hope you are doing ok 💕

Ah Mandy,it's an oldie but a goodie......actually it's not that good either. It's a "roll your eyes" joke though.Must be your medication.hahaha

We have one bathroom too.My hubby is deaf,so if he's not wearing his ears (aids) he won't hear me pounding on the door and yelling "Get out of there NOW" !!!
Luckily the light switch is outside the door, so I can flick the light off and on and he knows there's an emergency.Unless of course his eyes are closed, then I'd have to get the axe and break down the door and chop his head off.Or something.

Hey everyone! Thanks for all the words of encouragement. I'm glad the abscess is healing quick. Must have been a very minor one. Just a piece of loose skin and a small mark left XD

I read somewhere that abscesses are caused by fistulas. And fistula means surgery. Just wondering if it is possible that I've got an abscess but no fistula. I don't want surgery :/

Glad to hear that everyone is doing better today. Hope you all stay that way! :D

Glad to hear that everyone is doing better today. Hope you all stay that way! :D
In 1992, I had an abscess so the answer to your question is yes. It is possible to have an abscess but no fistula.

Hi cyy. My hubby had abscesses. Or that's what we thought. Until it got severe, we saw the specialist, took an MRI and found that they were fistulas. He literally went through hell with it. For crohnies, they don't usually do a fistulotomy and remove it coz it ll cause more trouble. They ll put a Seton (rubber band kinda thing) which ll help drain the infection out of them. They do that before starting any of the biologics.

Hope you spoke to ur doctor about it and get some clarity. Fistulas are nasty. Hope you don't have them!

Madhu, yes, drinking the prep is just so vile, it's no wonder you had to force him to drink it. Most preps taste terrible, and there's such a large amount to drink. My last prep, I was in the hospital and they made me do GoLytely. It tasted like sea water (very salty) and I had to drink a lot of it. Not a fun time! And they made me stay up until midnight drinking the stuff, and then they woke me up at like 5 AM to do a blood draw. Gee thanks.

Carol, that sounds totally reasonable. :p Maybe I should also buy an axe, just in case hubby is hogging the bathroom. Ha ha
