My barium swallow showed I have slight muscular coordination and they want me to take one session of speech therapy

I had speech therapy Ron for awhile after head injury. Have issues swallowing sometimes, forget how to which is weird, have to chop and chew food to death. Sometimes have to spit out if can't swallow but most of the time under control. Hopefully yours will be simple sending prayers.

Happy Anniversary Doug and Sandy [emoji180][emoji307][emoji179][emoji178]

I'm still feeling pretty unwell thanks to my latest taper fail, ugh. The good news is, I've gotten a TON of crocheting done. :p I finished the blanket that I was working on and made a smaller child-size blanket in just 2 days. I'm going to give the child blanket to my youngest niece, she's 3. That was a scrap blanket, I had a bunch of scrap yarn in many colors so I made a multi-colored striped blanket and that turned out quite well.

Happy anniversary, Doug & Sandy! And go Sandy go, you awesome kayaker you! Did you guys bring Allie on the kayaks?

Doing good cmack. Thanks for asking. He is improving gradually. How are you doing?

I also hope CYY is doing okay. I hope she's just busy - being a student and dealing with Crohn's surely is not easy at all! Hope you are doing okay, CYY.

Haven't seen Trysha in this thread in a little while lately either. Trysha, are you doing okay?

"Eastbound and down.". Can't remember any more of the words but you made me think of the song from Smokey and the Bandit, cmack.

I hope you are well CYY.

Hope you are doing okay, CYY.

Thanks for the concern everyone! Really appreciate it ^^

The jab went quite well, but I was very exhausted on Thursday and Friday after the jab. Just felt like doing nothing but sleep all day. Saturday came and I had accumulated tons of homework, so I spent my whole day clearing the backlog. It's Sunday night right now, and I'm now doing my weekend homework ._.

I hope my body gets used to MTX soon. Another one is due again this Thursday. *Groans*

Wishing everyone well :ghug:

CYY, I hope your next injection is easier on you! I can relate to your large amount of homework - I was out sick from work last week from Tuesday through Friday, so I've got a ton of work to catch up on when I go back tomorrow. I'm definitely not looking forward to it at all.

Cmack, I'm so sorry. I'm here if you need to talk.

My favorite Beatle is also John Lennon. He always seemed like the most interesting, the most crazy, and I think he just edged out Sir Paul as the best singer & songwriter.

So here's something fun - I'm getting a new toilet today! :p Our toilet at home has been not working very well lately. At first it was just running and running all the time, so my hubby tried a few things and apparently fixed that issue. But then it immediately got a new issue, now it's clogging almost every time we use it. It's a very old toilet (our house was built in the 1950's and was remodeled in the 70's, so we think the toilet is from the 70's - also, it's a pink toilet so it's super ugly). So, it's time for a new one. We went to a few stores yesterday and we have one in mind, but we're going to a couple more stores today too just to make sure we don't find another one that's better than the one we saw yesterday. I'm pretty excited to get a new toilet and I knew you guys would understand my excitement!

Tony,I have Rainbow Bridge pasted on the back of a collection of framed photos of my hairy darlings, all eight of them.I know it sounds a lot,but I did have them in multiples of 3 or 4 at a time. They would be the only reason that,if I had the choice,I would go back in time. And to a life before crohns of course.
CMACK,A lot of us have been where you are now and none of us can help you my friend.
But as long as you know, we know, and are here for you and sending hugs.

Carol, you know it's going to be me! :D It's almost noon here and the fancier (more expensive) toilet store opens at noon, so we're just about to head over there to take a look. We probably won't buy one from there but I like to know all my options before I commit to a large purchase like this. We did tentatively pick one out yesterday at a different store but the fancy toilet store was already closed when we tried to go there yesterday evening, so we want to just check it out to be sure. Who knows, maybe I'll come home with a fancy toilet! :p

Cmac..so sad for you....the same thing happened yesterday to my friends...their dog had been playing in the garden with his sister dog...he came in the house laid down and did not wake...such a shock to lose our dearest companions.Lost my lovely one in 2006 and still miss her so much .
CYY good to see you..feel better soon.
Noted the bathroom humour on this page today....congratulations on your new bathroom
ornament Cat.....happy landings.
The last few days have been a little difficult regarding some unwanted symptoms....two abdominal ultrasound scans scheduled for Tuesday morning 8am....the usual fasting of course....and a litre of water to drink at 7am........one of life's little pleasures.......I'm sure you can all relate to this......ho hum...
At least the sun is shining today and it is a beautiful day...
Winning....

We got our toilet, and we got it at the fancy store! They had a floor model on sale 40% off and it was everything we wanted - hubby wanted the dual flush feature (so that you can have a smaller flush for just urine or a stronger flush for poo). And it's got the smooth outside so it's easier to clean - there's no outline of the pipe, it's just smooth. It's a good brand and I think we're going to like it a lot.

Having said that, hubby just uninstalled our old toilet and apparently our bathroom floor in the area of the toilet was just rotting away. Oh, great. So he's currently fixing the floor first before he can even install the new toilet. I might be hopping in the car and running over to a gas station or fast food restaurant if I need to use the restroom in the near future because that's our only bathroom so we currently don't have a toilet...

Cat, I was in the store and considered buying some sushi but wasn't sure if it was gluten free.

I've always found it to be Ron, even the battered shrimp is done in rice flour by me.

Ron, I agree with Jane, most sushi in the US should be gluten-free. In Japan, they don't know much about gluten and they tend to add soy sauce to everything, and of course there is gluten in soy sauce. But here in the US they probably do make most of it gluten-free.

I would be a bit wary of grocery store sushi, though. It's not typically known for being very high quality so it might make your guts upset. If you're going to try sushi, look for a reputable restaurant where the sushi chef knows what they're doing and practices safe handling of the raw fish. Or, if you do get grocery store sushi, opt for a cooked and not raw type. That's what I do - there's a grocery store in my city that has fairly decent sushi, but even so, I tend to go for the cooked shrimp rolls rather than anything raw, just to play it safe. You can even find veggie sushi sometimes - like, there's a restaurant near me that has avocado rolls - it's just avocado, rice, and nori (seaweed). It's yummy and safe and very easy on my belly.

Toilet update: Hubby is still fixing the floor. But, he had to go to the hardware store to get a few things, so I came with him, and we both used the bathroom there while we were at the store. So I'm good for now, phew. I'm one of those people who has to pee like every hour on the hour, though, so things might get iffy shortly.

Happy anniversary, Doug & Sandy! And go Sandy go, you awesome kayaker you! Did you guys bring Allie on the kayaks?

We did not bring Allie this time. It was our first time kayaking in 40 years. Similar with Sandy. It was a blast on the water. Sandy beat me right from the beginning. And I'm glad to see it.

Thanks for the anniversary well wishes!

Cmack, it took most of the day and 3 trips to the hardware store! (And at least one more trip to come because we bought a few things we didn't end up using so we have to return some stuff.) But it is done, and I really like my new toilet. :) My old toilet was pink and we think it was installed in 1977 when the house was remodeled by the previous owner - the previous owner REALLY loved pink (when we bought the house, the exterior of the house was pink, many of the walls were painted pink, and all the bathroom fixtures and countertop are pink). So, finally I have a toilet that is just normal white and not pink. It's so nice! I always hated having such a yucky, ugly toilet. Now my toilet is not yucky nor ugly, it's shiny and new and modern and not pink. :p

And yes, we've painted the house so most of the pink is gone now. But we still need to remodel the rest of the bathroom - the tub, sink, and countertop are still pink.

I got some photos and uploaded them so you guys can see my new toilet vs the old one.

Here's the old one, it was pink and hideous and from the 70's and it clogged constantly.

And here's the new one, it's so sleek and pretty and nice and not pink!

Yea looks like a bidet kind too, I'm jealous. :)

I got a new printer that we can print from anywhere and fax yea.

Cat.....very smart toilet, and thank you so much for omitting yourself from the photo.

I have a little duck like yours and mine sits on the soap dish in the shower.

Carol, I have a lot of rubber ducks! There are many more that aren't in the photo.

Jane, yes, it's a bidet sprayer and I love it! I've had it for a couple of years now. It's very basic, not heated or anything, but it still helps a lot when I'm having a lot of bathroom trips. I'd love to get a fancier one someday - when I was in Japan, they had ones with heated seats and warm water and oscillating and all sorts of different settings. I'd love that, but those are quite pricey and for now I'm fine with my basic bidet sprayer. I think it cost me about $40 on amazon, well worth the money. My hubby loves it too and he doesn't even have digestive issues (he calls it the butt washer, ha ha).

Cat, to your dismay I have a pink duck in my tub lol. Ya I need to buy that Amazon one until we do our remodel at our cabin and move there, then I'm getting the best one for there for sure. :) It's the little things we look forward too. :)

Cat,

The duck looks like he is waiting to go for a swim ....Hahaha. Awesome upgrade, props to your husband. I couldn't have done it any better myself. :) I'm jealous, and that is a sin. But remember, hate the sin not the sinner... ;)

Hi all..hope to find you all well today.💞

So glad you have got your new toilet sorted Cat. it looks lovely. Enjoy... hopefuly not to often tho eh!!😉
Trysha good luck with the tests . Hope they help to get things back on track for you.💕
Love n best wishes to you all :ghug:💝💞

I've never seen a pink duck Jane, what breed is it ?
I think you're in hospital today so sending support and hugs. That's if you're not too tough for hugs......:thumleft:

I have a yellow rubber duck on my basin, I keep the basin plug on his head, it looks like he's wearing a cap. I'm working this week in Hamilton. Busy again.

I found an old shoe repair ticket in a bag that once belonged to my granma. It was dated 1947.As the shop was still trading in the town I thought they might like it for posterity. When I took it in, the cobbler's son looked at it in amazement. After a few seconds silence he said
"They'll be ready Thursday".

Honestly, my husband struggled A LOT to get the toilet installed. He exhausted himself just fixing the floor around the toilet - apparently the tile floor in our bathroom is not waterproof, and the previous owner had put in a sub-floor that was made out of plywood, so of course that got wet and rotted away over the years. So hubby had to remove and replace all of that before he could even start installing the new toilet. And then he ran into issues right away with the install and he sort of freaked out and didn't think he could do it (specifically he didn't think the toilet would fit into the space available). I managed to get him calmed down and I looked at the instructions and figured out the problem (the toilet is supposed to be almost right up against the wall and we did end up having room after all) and then we worked together to install the thing. It looks great now and I'm so glad we did it, but it was a big challenge to get it done. So don't be too jealous, we have a nice toilet now but we sure worked hard for it!

That is funny. One of my first jobs at 10 years old was working at a shoe repair shop. To this day I love the smell when I find one and just walk in, silly huh.

Cat,

I used to be a maintenance man for several years at a very large ski resort. The times I had to cut out the sub floor and replace rotted portions to fix the toilet... I can't count that high, even with my socks off.

So that's the scans over for now...had trouble with the second 500mls of water so I added a touch of lemon juice and made it...just.The scan was exactly on time at 8am and finished by 845am...found it a bit painful ...but it's done now
Tomorrow I see the orthopaedic surgeon for six month check up...walking better and much less pain...not quite there yet but doing well.
Monday I have an appointment with a kidney specialist.....O joy!
Things have moved so fast since I saw my GP last Thursday...he said things couldn't wait but I never expected this speed.Good to get it over with...
Hope it all amounts to nothing...
I see you had lots of fun with the loo installation Cat....good thing it's finished...now you can spend many hours enjoying and admiring it....
We have suddenly sprung into summer from winter....trouble is it does not always stay put.
Carol thank you for the neat story of the shoe repair man.
Mandy thank you for the good wishes...hope you are doing better..
To Everybody....hope you are all keeping out of trouble...healthwise that is...
Winning.......

Hi Trysha,

Trouble? That's my middle name! ;) On a more serious note, I hope everything goes well Trysha. I care about you, you always find a way to make me smile. You are such a nice lady, I really appreciate you.

Your bud,

cmack

CYY,

Are you out there bud? I hope you are OK.

Yup, I'm here (sitting in front of the computer with a glass of Modulen beside me) ^^

Called the cancer centre at the hospital today to place an order for the MTX tomorrow. They don't stock MTX on the shelves at the hospital, so the people at the lab make it fresh from its chemical constituents and deliver it to the day therapy centre, where I get my jabs :/

Geez, time really flies. Just when I've finally managed to clear all the backlog of homework from last week, I need to get myself ready to start all over again tomorrow ._.

Last week was a hot week. Heat rashes broke out again on my back (been having such episodes since I was a baby). Luckily, most of the pus-filled "pimples" have burst and are healing now :>

Have a great day, everyone! And love the new toilet, Cat :D

Trysha hope all goes well for you hun. Glad you seem to be improving well with your walking.
Im doing ok thanks hun. You take care now ok...💕💕

I'm pretty well, Cmack, I hope you're doing okay too.

Mandy, what's the point of misbehaving if you don't enjoy it? ;) Of course I'm enjoying it, ha ha.

It must really be springtime. I took a walk through the forest and I saw 2 butterflies and a dragonfly today! Usually I don't see bugs like that until at least May. It seems too early to be seeing butterflies and dragonflies. I've also seen several bats already.

Just getting over last weeks cyclone, towns still evacuated and flooded and we are getting another tonight, supposed to be the biggest in 40 years. Will update tomorrow if we have internet. Its crap at the best of times where we are.

My insurance is fighting me for going on Entyvio. My doctor's office is frustrated. I had a biopsy on my chin today. By the way, I am misbehaving.😁

That sounds terrible Trev...prayers for your safety
Thank you for the kind words cmack..and Mandy.
.Ron I think it's terrible that you all have to fight to get the appropriate prescriptions....Mr T should be working on this asap....have you brought this to his attention?
.Cat...how lucky you are to see a dragonfly...so beautiful .. as welll as a butterfly.
Orthopedist was pleased with his surgical results on my knee....have to return in one year.....sooner if problems....

Trev stay safe mate and please let us know you are as n when you can.💕
Trysha glad your surgeon is pleased with your progress. Keep up the good work girl 💕
Cat n Ron glad you are enjoying misbehaving 😆💕

Love n best wishes to all 💞💝

We went Kayaking tonight and I had a unexpected experience. i tipped the kayak. Not fun. I lost my glasses and a fishing rod. Expensive spill. But I have a backup pair of glasses and another rod, so all is good. i am going to figure out a way to bungee cord my fishing rod to the kayak when not using it. All is good.

Hey Doug,

I'm sorry bud. That sucks. My glasses cost 800 bucks. I'm glad you are having fun though. I'm a good diver, I wish I was there to retrieve them. I was once a fireman with a diving certificate.

Better luck next time I guess.

cmack

Opps there Doug....shame about the glasses n rod but at least your ok. Ye fastening the rod sounds like a plan 💕

First the doctor told me the GOOD news: I was going to have a disease named after me.

Trev.,You and Debs keep safe. On a lighter note,at least you won't be as bored as you were a while ago.
Doug, for goodness sake man, please be careful. And put your specs on a cord too.I'm assuming Sandy wasn't with you.Have you got it on video hahaha

Doug, oh no! I always put one of those cord things on my glasses when I kayak because I'm terrified of losing my glasses too. I'm glad you had a backup pair, but that's still not good. A couple years ago we lost a camera and hubby's wedding ring off the side of our kayak so I can definitely relate to the feeling of losing expensive things. :( We lost them in shallow but very murky water, so we went out to rent a metal detector in the hopes of finding them, but after 2 hours of searching, we didn't find them. Here's a tip: If you lose a camera (or anything else) over the side of the kayak, make sure your wedding ring is on very securely before you start feeling around in the water and muck!

There is no video, but Sandy took before and after pictures. Future specs are going on a cord also.

While it is a shallow pond, we were at one of the deepest areas when the "special event" happened. Luckily I was not wearing the wedding ring yesterday. It's safe. The water was quite murky. And yes I was wearing a life jacket. Sorry you guys lost a wedding ring while searching in the muck.

My hubby once lost his keys in a lochan in Scotland, off a fishing jetty.Car keys and as we were away with the caravan, those keys too. Luckily I had spares with me.We went back to the campsite and made a hook on and walking cane with a wire coat hanger.People were giving us funny looks (not for the first time hahaha) I was actually hanging onto his ankles as he dangled off the end of the pier, and trying to hang on to two G.S.D.s and a terrier at the same time.Luckily he managed to hook them. Now I'm forever asking "Have you got the keys" or "Zip your pocket up"...Happy Days.

It's actually quite amazing what you can do with an old coat hanger isn't it? They have gotten me out of a jam numerous times after locking my keys in the truck and even fishing out tools that I have dropped way down inside the engine compartment. With my luck I can't be without one. ;)

We came though the cyclone ok, had to move the motorhome as felt like we may get blown over, power was off but didnt affect us as we make our own, lots of slips and roads closed, but all good.
