Hey cmack, I hope the fires in your neck of the woods are improving? It was very hazy here yesterday and the air smelled like smoke. I thought they were doing some controlled burns on nearby prairies, but then I saw in the news today that the Canadian wildfire smoke has now reached my area, so I guess it's smoke from your area that has come down here.

http://www.channel3000.com/weather/...fires-arrives-in-southern-wisconsin/615059656

Yeah we have a lot of smoke here, sorry that we had to share with you folks. Cough! There is a forest fire 4KM away but it is fairly small and somewhat contained. I'm looking on the bright side... If the house were to burn down it sure would save a lot of cleaning. We should be fine, (fingers crossed). Thanks for the concern Cat. :) It sure has been a hot, dry and smokey summer here. 30-35c got old about two months ago, bring on the fall and some rain!

Chris stay safe buddy... those fires are a law unto themselves ๐Ÿ˜ฏ๐Ÿ’•

Ron it feels like autumn/fall here too mate. The mornings and evenings are getting quite chilly. ๐Ÿ’•

Cat yes we are all winners....oh!! go on then you can be top of the list ๐Ÿ˜‰ i dont mind giving up my top spot to you :rof:.

Tony glad we have been able go help you through the tough times old pal. Heres to better times for you. ๐Ÿ’ž

Carol talking of fancy dress ..our theme for our xmas displays at work this year is pantomimes.. so il just pinch the costume i cop for this time to wear to the low party. Knowing my luck il end up as widow twanky :rof: . Let me me know if you want me to pinch 1 for you to. I will post it to you

Sandy when i have the money for a flight il be there asap girl. I would love to see the places you show in pics for real. Especialy the canyons etc
Oh well im off the land of nod now.. thinking of going Derbyshire on Saturday. So i need my ugly sleep ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘‹

Hey Shanen...i heard my email come through. Low n behold it was you โ˜บ
How have you been love ??
Hope your doing ok ๐Ÿ’•

Ron, it feels like fall here too. It's gotten cooler, it's long sleeve/jacket weather a lot of the time lately. Some of the trees are already starting to change color, and I've heard geese honking overhead as they fly south. Summer is over.

Madhu, I know winter is coming very soon! I just bought myself a new winter coat so I'm ready. Well, maybe ready isn't the word. I accept that winter is coming. :p I don't have to like it, but I accept it.

Cmack, glad you're okay! I hope that fire stays far away from your house! Seems like it must be pretty major if I can smell and see the smoke from here. Stay safe!

Edited to add: Mandy, go to bed! ;)

That's the problem! I never waited for the monkey to come! ๐Ÿ’ Darn it all anyways! ;)

Chris you gota get the sleep monkeys to come mate. ๐Ÿ’
It can be hard to get the pesky beggers to come tho ...im about to call for them now.
My friend and i had a lovely day in the lake district today. Around an hour n half drive from where i live. Its so beatiful up there. It calms the soul to wander its hills and valleys and quaint villages .
Good to get some really fresh air in the lungs โ˜บ

Take care everyone ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’•

What's everybody up to? Hopefully everyone is enjoying our last bit of summer and feeling as well as can be. By the way, thanks for the kind words yesterday Sandy, I really appreciate knowing you. Say hello to Doug for me too, I expect a fishing report card! ;)

Summer's gone for us, Chris. I hope it's a temporary thing and the sun is back but I doubt it [emoji22] we have the heater out. My friends in California are all whining about it being too hot. What I wouldn't give to be there, lol. How is the weather like at your place? Do you usually get harsh winters? What am I asking, you're in Canada, duh! [emoji14]

Hey Madhu,

We are medium range cold, average -20 -40 below celcius is about the worst we get. We get days above zero in between as well. The long cold snaps are the worst, I'm hoping for -20 or above on average, at least then if you dress for it you can still do things outdoors. +30 now yikes!

I've always wondered, what's a New Jersey winter like? I have never been, I just watched "The Sopranos." *

*Fun fact ;)
It's cold. Lol. We live close to NYC. Only been here 3+ years now and the cold keeps increasing every year. Pretty sure climate change is real. Obviously. We usually get snow Jan to April. A few snowstorms but nothing too severe. We got snowed in only once so far :)

Hopefully we both get off easy and don't get snowed in. :) It's weird here, one day its hot... then a certain day in September comes....and totally...NOT! Me no get???

Chris im sure you would love it in the lakes, as we fondly call it. Full of lush green fields, valleys, beautiful lakes a plenty, quaint stone cottages and sheep wandering the twisty narrow roads.
Have a google to see picz of it. Id post some i took but i can never get it to work !!!

We had a lovely warm sunny day saturday today was raining n cold go figure ๐Ÿ™„

Love to all. :ghug:

From what I understand about farenheit to celcius conversion Chris, isn't -40C and -40F the same? For a medium cold place, that seems mighty cold to me. But your current temps seem mighty warm too. We've been having near record breaking heat for this time of year also, in the nineties. Can't wait for fall weather! And can't wait for the fancy dress party. And would love to see the Lakes District also.
Hope all is well Trysha and you had/are having a pleasant journey.
Back later.

No Sandy. Example 30 C is equivalent to 86 F. We use Celsius in india too, and now in the US, I still struggle with Fahrenheit [emoji23]

Yes Sandy! it looks as if -40 is the same. Sometimes it's confusing at other temperatures though. No expert here, just an average Canadian dude. :)

I hope everyone feels well and those traveling are safe.

Cheers!

If I'm attending the "fancy dress party" What color dress should I wear? Or possibly, other suitable men's attire? ;)

Edited to mention: I heard somewhere that Cat might wear jammies.

Hi Carol....and Sandy.thank you for the thoughts..
The flight was a bit bumpy now and again but other than that went well
It is so long that's the problem
Now I am home again and quite weary.
Keep well Everyone
Winning....

Thanks for the confirmation on the farenheit vs celcius temps Chris. I thought the cold weather temps you mentioned from what I knew sounded cold, so I did my usual Google celcius to farenheit conversion search (I'm too lazy to remember it plus apply the appropriate formula), when I ran across that little tidbit about the -40 temps being the same.
As to the fancy dress party, men can dress "fancily" in their tuxedoes. :rof: I can't wait to see Doug in one, haven't seen him dress that way since our wedding 22 years ago, though he has had a few business suits over the years.
Very glad you are home safe Trysha, and hope you are getting some good rest.

Hi ya all โ˜บ
Glad you got to see the pics of the lakes Chris. People come from all over the world to visit the place. We saw all sorts of nationalities there on saturday.

Sandy im sure you would love it there.. if you ever get over here its a must see destination. ๐Ÿ’•

It is a wonder though that nearly every country on earth has it beautiful places. Very different variaties of beauty too, from desert landscapes to icy wilderness.

Trysha glad you got back home safely..try and rest up for a day or so. The washing can wait โ˜บ

Love n hugs to you all ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’

No Sandy,no posh tux's.....we need silly and the sillier the better.

Happy you're safely home Trysha, sleep tight,

Aw bless you all ...
Thank you so much. I had a good 1 tho working.
Went shoe shopping after work..in desparate need of some. So i used my birthday money to get some. I bought boots, dress shoes, work shoes and trainers...yipee im fully equiped for a while now ๐Ÿ˜
Big loves to all ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’

Aww, it sounds like you had a good birthday Mandy. Hope it was as sparkly as you are!
zaw37.gif

May all your wishes come true this year....Happy Birthday to you Mandy....and many more

A big thank you to all you wonderful people for the lovely welcome back........
I am still so jet lagged and of course the sleep pattern is up the creek plus....
I have a doctors appointment tomorrow......however I am
Winning...

I decided I have a form of jetlag too, lol. (Obviously, not really, but my sleep cycles are always disrupted with my sleep disorders, much like someone with jetlag. It's most annoying when trying to get things done.) Found an interesting article in all my health perusings talking about jetlag, etc. @ http://healthysleep.med.harvard.edu/healthy/science/how/external-factors.)
In answer to "how to make cake" (teehee, I get to make a real one tomorrow), I figured out that if you can find an image or gif that has its own URL, it's not too hard (Much harder to post my own images that I want private elsewhere.) I usually Google images and gifs when looking for an appropriate one. It's basically copy and paste. Just follow these steps (it's easier than it sounds once you get the hang of it):
(1) copy the URL address at the top of the screen where your image is (not in Crohn's forum, and you have to open the image itself, usually by hard pressing the image itself if using a phone like I do, or finding a way to open only the image, then copy the URL) ;
(2) go to Crohn's forum thread where you are posting, place the cursor in dialog box (before or after any words you want said) where you want your image inserted;
(3) then find the little yellow box at the top of the message box with two triangles (I think meant to look like mountains), and press it; (screen should look something like this below):
picture.php

(4) delete the letters/symbols "http://" as it will be pasted with the URL address you copied;
(5) paste the URL address (with the copied letters/symbols "http://") into the place where the pop up asks you to paste it;
(6) then I like to go to "go advanced" at this point so you can preview it.
Yay! You should be done and can handle it from here.
Be well everyone.

I think I'll pass on that one Sandy. They say ignorance is bliss and there's nothing wrong in being blissful.

Speaking of disrupted sleep and sleep patterns, my (insert swear words here) large toe joint connection to my foot that needs a joint replacement kept me awake more than not and I'm ready to throw my whole foot out. Oh my, how it aches. I also knew Trysha was, for the most part, speaking metaphorically when she asked how to make the cake, but since that is one thing I can still do (mostly because I waste too much time figuring it out), I thought I'd share that tidbit of info in case anybody else wanted to try without wasting quite as much time. I never expected most of you to try. Right now I wish I were a little more blissful. ~sigh~ ~sigh~ ~sigh~
(Sorry so grouchy)

Sandy, you haven't been kicking poor Doug I hope ??? Save that for his retirement after the "honeymoon" period has worn off.hahaha

Doug..How many days left to the big day ? I know you're counting.

Sandy thanks for the cake...it was yummy ๐Ÿ‘
Sorry your foot is giving you gyp girl. Hope it settles and you get some relief.

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone . โ˜บ

As for the instrutions on posting pics...
I lost the thread at the 1st word :rof:
Dont know how to copy and or paste !!!
Oh my im a dinosaur oh well as our Carol says ignorance is bliss...till you really want to do something ๐Ÿ˜

Happy birthday Mandy! Welcome back Trysha!

I had an interview today for basically a promotion (same company, same department, basically the same job I already do but more money). Another lady at work also interviewed for the same job though and she's probably going to get it. It's only the two of us but I feel like they're going to give it to her. I'd be really happy if I got this promotion, though.

We are going to have my sis, her hubby and one (adult) kiddo stay with us overnight (late arrival, after 10pm) tonight for very short visit while they are en route to bring their daughter to college in Idaho tomorrow (they are from Indiana). Been working like a madman today getting things ready (guest room ready, birthday cupcakes as it's sister's birthday tomorrow too, snacks, etc.) I think I'll hold off on the kicking for a while. You're safe for the moment Doug.

It's always a comfort to come on and check to see what the family is up too. I've been so busy with my three grand daughters because my daughter was having problems. We are back on track and I get to go home in two days it's been a couple weeks so ya really tired. Been really tired of breathing with ash and wiping down everything when we open the window to get air because of the heat. Really wish I would have bought them an air conditioner. The Columbia River Gorge which is close is on fire. My brother in on level one alert and is thinking about what he would grab if it travels more. Please keep him in your prayers. We were coloring today and the Elizabeth said no grandma the sky is brown...yep enough said, no joke.

Madhu...I was wondering how the Keto diet was going ? I read today that Mick Jagger is on it and he became a dad at 72.

Friends....what is red and smells of blue paint ????

It's going good Carol. 2 weeks in, and I'm down 7 lbs :) it's supposed to reset whacky hormones and help to get pregnant. Wonder how that helped Mick jagger [emoji23][emoji23]

Thanks Ron. Are you tracking hurricane Irma? I heard Virginia also is starting to be on alert. Stay safe

I hadnt heard that yet. The last we heard was that it had hit somewhere in the Caribbean.
Yeah it's wreaking havoc in the islands now. Florida and the Carolinas are on high alert. And someone said Virginia beach too. But they expect it to reduce strength before then

Jane, it was great to hear from you! I'm sorry you have to deal with the effects of the Eagle Creek/Columbia River Gorge fire, I've understood from elsewhere how very nasty that one really is. My family used to travel down the Columbia River Gorge every year, several years in a row, to go visit friends in Portland. Very happy memories, and I was always mesmerised by the gorge. I had never seen such a big river! I'm still mezmorized by the gorge and was just telling Doug recently that he needs to see it as well as the northern West Coast (not just LA or near Disneyland).
We also had a small fire near us yesterday that destroyed six homes in a very, very short time. The 40 mile per hour sustained winds coming out of the canyon didn't help. Most of these destroyed homes, if in California, would have been multimillion-dollar homes. I don't know where people get all of their money (the homes are not so far behind in worth here!) It is such a waste when you see the destruction of these natural disasters. :( We also have the brown sky now between that, Wyoming fires and your fire out west. Very hard on the lungs. You would think that fire season would have ended since it's already September.
Speaking of disasters, Ron, A neighbor's uncle who was in a nursing home in Texas had to be evacuated, then was moved several times afterward, couldn't find a place for the nursing home residents. I hope that doesn't happen to your father Ron, it is already hard enough to be displaced when you have normal thinking abilities.
Our company has come and gone. My brother-in-law was chomping at the bit to get on the road as soon as breakfast was done, it sure would have been nice to see them a little longer. I understand though, they have over 3 three hours driving each direction to do plus getting their daughter all situated in her new apartment for college. (They are staying with another brother tonight.)
Stay safe everyone.
I think I'm going to talk Doug into moving to England after he retires so we can get away from high altitude, earthquakes, smog and smoke, etc. :ytongue:

We should all move to England, Sandy. I love the British [emoji7] I have been obsessed with watching documentaries of Princess Diana lately [emoji23][emoji23]

Well, I didn't get the promotion. I didn't think I would. I honestly didn't even think it would be close but I had to throw my hat into the ring anyway, you know? And, my boss said that it actually was close. She praised me on doing really well in my interview. So that's something. I still didn't get it though. I came in second place out of two people. :p That's like the most meaningless silver medal ever.

Madhu...I was wondering how the Keto diet was going ? I read today that Mick Jagger is on it and he became a dad at 72.

Friends....what is red and smells of blue paint ????

I almost forgot to answer ... red paint:ylol:

Cat sorry you missed out,it just goes to show the bosses dont know what they are doing !!๐Ÿ’ž

Praying for all in natures path to be safe and sound ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’

Thanks guys. It's depressing that I didn't get the promotion, but I pretty much expected that they'd give it to the other lady instead. So this is depressing but not surprising. I've been stuck in a rut lately at work and now I just feel more stuck, though. And it's so hard to change jobs in this country when you have a chronic illness, dealing with changing insurance and having a gap in coverage until the new insurance kicks in. So I'm just feeling really bleh at the moment. Stuck in a rut.

These hurricanes are crazy! Anyone in the path of Irma, be safe. Pretty glad I live in a state where the worst weather we have is the occasional blizzard. I guess we do get tornadoes too, but those don't seem to do a whole lot of damage most of the time. (Knock on wood.)

Hey Cat il lay bets that crohnic illness or not you'd run rings round the lot of them. Bosses iv sent better down the loo ๐Ÿ˜œ!!๐Ÿ’ž ๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿ˜—

I'm so scared for Florida. Irma seems to be ruthless. I hope everyone is safe :(

Sorry about it all Cat...but hey...every cloud has a silver lining...hope it turns up soon for you. Everything's a gamble....did you buy a lottery ticket yet?
Not so lucky myself lately and the worst thing happened to me through signing up with Instagram...I was immediately hacked and it is so difficult to correct this.
When I sent an email to Instagram to inform them and change my email the hacker replied with the website heading as if he was Instagram.it is very bad that these systems make it very difficult well impossible actually to speak directly to a staff person.
I removed the hackers email on my personal detail page in Instagram and have suspended use of the programme....nothing else so far.
It seems Instagram belongs to Facebook so I notified them also at least they had an area to do this.
Not much help available to ensure everything is ok on my computer.
What a headache......all Solutions welcome
Hope you are all keeping well and out of trouble
Cheers

Sorry, Trysha.

Mandy, you always make me laugh! Thank you. :)

โ˜บ well im glad you laughed Cat... i could tell you some tales re bosses that would make your hair curl... that of course is if your hairs not already curly ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Keep smiling girl.. its the only way to survive what life chucks at ya.
As Trysha says every cloud...
Your cloud will have a gold lining though as you are pure gold girl ๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿ˜—

Trysha how awful that happend to you ๐Ÿ˜  darn hackers..
I tend to keep off social media things in general,as i find them very intrusive and am wary of who can access them. I really hope you dont suffer any more from hackers my lovely lady ๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿ˜—

Hope everyone in the path of the weather having a tantrum stays safe.

Love hugs n best wishes to all. :ghug: :ghug: ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’•

Trysha, funny you should mention lottery tickets - another department at my workplace apparently buys lottery tickets fairly regularly. They'd all like to become rich and not have to work anymore. They told me I can join them in their lottery pool, if I'd like. I told them I don't have much spending money these days (still paying off the credit card from my dog's emergency surgery), but I told them that if they win then they can use a tiny bit of their winnings to buy my dog a steak. Well, I guess they haven't even won enough to buy a steak yet! :p I won't hold my breath on that, ha.

I don't use instagram myself so I don't have an answer for you there. Tagging cmack as he is technologically minded and might know more than I do.

Mandy, my hair is wavy, does that count? ;) And I think IBD did that to me, my hair was stick-straight before I got sick. It's been nearly 8 years now that I've had this gut illness, and my hair has gotten more and more wavy over those years. I'm sure it'll end up curly at some point the way it's going!

Seriously though, thank you for your kind words. That has cheered me up. And, it's actually my 15 year wedding anniversary today, and my mom sent us some money, so hubby and I are going out for a nice dinner shortly. There's an expensive historical restaurant nearby - it was built by gangsters in the 1920s, used during prohibition, has slots built into the brick so that they could stick their tommy guns out and shoot if the FBI ever raided them (which they did not). Supposedly the original owner met an untimely fate, his body was never found but he's rumored to be buried in this restaurant, and people say they've seen ghosts there. I'm such a nerd for that sort of history, I've been dying to eat there but it is a very pricey restaurant. But, it's our anniversary and we were gifted some money, so we're going there tonight. :D Yay!

Cat my lovely have a brill time at the restaurant..wow i like the sound of that im a history geek. Love old buildings and the history of them... when i went to york the other weekend i loved it as there are shedloads of old buildings there. Went to see Dick Turpins grave aswell.

Enjoy your evening and Happy Anniversary to you both. ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’•

Hey Trysha,

I have heard that a lot of Instagram accounts have been hacked. If you can use another device that has not been compromised(like a laptop, desktop or if all else fails maybe a friends computer) I would recommend that you do so and go to this link for assistance, https://help.instagram.com/368191326593075/?helpref=hc_fnav Do not use the compromised device to make changes to any passwords, as it could all be transmitted to the hackers responsible, therefore they would just easily sign back in and fool around.

There is something called two-factor authentication, so you want to try to log on to Instagram on the non-compromised device and try to see if it will allow you to change your password and enable two-factor authentication. You can have a code sent by phone or email usually within seconds with these secondary verification methods, therefore proving it is actually you that is changing the password. If you are able to get that far you should be secure as long as you aren't using the other password which was compromised for anything else. If you do use the same password for anything else you should change it ASAP. Phrases are the hardest to hack so pick familiar phrases for your passwords and you should be set. Lastly you may want to scan your affected device for malicious software that could have been added by the hackers(this will help with future attempts to hack you as well). On android I use a free Antivirus app from AVG https://www.avg.com/en-ca/homepage they also have options for Apple and Microsoft configurations. I have been using AVG on my mothers Samsung tablet for years, it works great and it is free. I have put the links to said procedures above. all you need to do is click on them and you will be at the correct place to get started. By the way I am running an antivirus on my PC and these links are safe and authentic, so don't be afraid to click on them. You can pm me if you aren't sure about something.

I hope this helps,

Chris
