Oh i love the wait n see attitude....Not!!it stinks dont it 🙁
Funny how they like to wait n see when its not them suffering 🤔
Try n keep your chin up cyy..hopefuly you will soon be feeling better

Doctors got worried last evening, so they went on a two-pronged laxative offensive on my intestines. X-Ray showed that they managed to get some stuff out, as well as clear a small opening for air to flow through. Feeling a bit sore from yesterday. The swelling is starting to subside, but it's still quite painful to the touch.
The doctors at peads are going to discuss with the adult GI docs to see what they should do about the stricture. One of the doctors was telling me that it might be more laxatives, antibiotics, or another endoscopy, in that order. Still no news about the CT scan that was supposed to happen but never did. I love waiting >_>

CYY, poor thing, I hope they can get you feeling a lot better very soon! Did they say if the stricture is due to inflammation or scar tissue? Hang in there, we're all thinking of you.

Thanks guys. Really appreciate all of you :ghug:

Well, I've got an MRE scheduled on Monday, and that's what the doctors are gonna find out. Meanwhile, they have given me the go ahead to drink sips of water but it irritates my intestines, so I think I'll continue on IV for a while longer.

The thing is that this big vein on my arm that they used for the IV failed after 3 days, so the nurses have resorted to using the smaller veins on my wrist, which, based on experience, is very likely to spell failure in less than 24 hours. Prepping myself for another couple of needles tomorrow :/

Looking into the near future though, anyone knows what to expect when you have a stricture?

Hug....for me I just need to have milk products instead of laxatives....butter does it for sure......and more enjoyable. :)

Yes, yes it will :p

Anyways, it's day 2 of the laxative offensive and the docs really want everything out of my intestines before that MRE. Hugging on tightly to a failing IV which I'm not sure whether it can last through the night.

Patient in the bed opposite mine is having some fried chicken wings and a burger for lunch. My mind keeps wandering back to butter cookies and a large butter cake full of icing and whipped cream. I'm hungry... ●﹏●

The making of bottle caps in the U.S.A. uses more steel production than is used in making motor car bodies........

Oh my, a lot has gone on since I posted last. CYY, :ghug: from here as well. I hope you are able to get relief soon, and that they can find a vein that will work for the duration of your stay. I often am a pincushion when it comes to drawing blood or putting in IVs, I don't have very good veins. When they needed to do a CT scan to confirm my pulmonary emboli a few years ago, they worked on me for over an hour to get a vein, gave up and have me come back the next day where they had to poke me several more times. It doesn't seem to bother me anymore, but I think it's because no brain no pain. :ytongue: I've always had a high pain tolerance, and seriously don't seem to feel it as much as most people, probably because of old stroke damage.
Carol, I am so glad you are back. I was worried. Jane, it is wonderful to see you too. It's actually great to see all of you. :ghug: :ghug: :ghug:

Yep im one of them people 😉

Hi ya all..just a quick pop in.
Keep as well as you can folks.
Sending love hugs n best wishes to all 💞💝💕 :ghug:

Thanks for all the support, guys :')

Doctors are starting me on a clear liquid diet today, in preparation for the MRE. The course of antibiotics finished yesterday, so they are looking into oral-ising the painkillers and whatever else they've got me on. IV came out early this morning, but laxatives just went in ;_;

If the whole population of China jumped up and down at the same time, the vibration could create a tidal wave that would engulf the United States.....lets hope they don't all win the lottery on the same day eh.?

Hi Sandy, all's well here. Trysha were are you ?

CYY, do you have to drink that icky barium stuff for the MRE? I had to do that last year. It was slightly better than drinking prep, but that's not saying much. Good luck with the test! Are they putting you back on modulen?

So my dog is still doing reasonably well, and there's a corgi picnic tomorrow. It's going to be hot weather, 90 degrees F (I googled and it looks like that's about 32 or 33 celsius). So we probably won't stay for very long, as neither me nor my dog do well in hot weather - she acts like she's miserable, and my guts start to get angry with me when it's hot out. But I really want to go, it'll be Lily's last chance to go to the corgi picnic, and it's always a lot of fun. Last time, there were about 80 corgis in one small park! So adorable and ridiculous!

I hope you both do well with the picnic tomorrow Cat. We are getting ready to go on a couple of day retreat to a B&B with my brother and sis-in-law, originally had planned to stay there as a home base and do some kayaking and fishing a little further up the road with them. The weather was 90° last week but will probably be snowing or close to snowing when we arrive (in the mid 30s). So now it will most likely just be resting and relaxing and enjoying a beautiful scenery at this point with family I don't get to see much.
CYY, how are you doing now? Carol, I'm glad you're doing okay. And I agree with you, TRYSHA, WHERE ARE YOU? Kirsty, I may be a little slow but if still you want me to send you info about oxygen levels and CPAP, I can still send that to you in a p.m.

Sandy, I'd way rather have 30 degrees than 90! My dog would also highly prefer that. Can you please send some of that cool air up this way? I have a new winter coat and I'm all set for that type of weather. 90 degrees I'm not so set for.

I read on facebook that a few people are bringing kiddie pools to the corgi picnic, so that the dogs can stay cool. That's a great idea, if your dog likes water. Lily, of course, does not like water. She hates swimming, she hates baths, she hates rain. She loves snow but that's the only form of water that is acceptable to her. So, I'm not sure how tomorrow is going to go. I went outside briefly just now and it's just way too hot outside. I might have to at least take my shoes off and stick my feet in a kiddie pool tomorrow myself! :p

Oh that looks fab sandy ☺ would you like some extra company 😁 . Hope you have a brillient time 💞

Cat hope you n lily get to enjoy the picnic even if it is so hot... pop your feet jn the pools girl. You can say my dog dosent like water so your just taking her turn 😃

Good point Carol...if i jumped up n down in a puddle of water i wouldnt weigh enough to cause a ripple haha 😃

Love to all :ghug:

Mandy, I'm thinking that I'm going to bring a folding chair and a parasol for shade, and I might just park my chair right in front of the kiddie pool so that I can sit with my feet in the water. :p I don't care if anybody thinks I'm strange (I already know I am and don't need confirmation of that, ha ha!). As long as no dogs pee in the pool, it should be okay. And I'm bringing a towel just in case Lily decides that cooling off is more important than her dislike of water.

In my relatively short lifetime, I have seen a lot of wild and crazy things with my very own eyes. Somehow I have yet to see a corgi picnic in real life! I love stuff like that, and yes Cat, I watched your video on YouTube of a prior picnic and it was great! Have a good time buddy, it looks like fun to me. :) Give Lily a great big back scratch and a pat on the head for me. ;)

CYY, do you have to drink that icky barium stuff for the MRE? I had to do that last year. It was slightly better than drinking prep, but that's not saying much. Good luck with the test! Are they putting you back on modulen?

Hey Cat, I drank the barium stuff for my MRE last year too. It felt so gross, but agreed that it's slightly better than prep. Hope they won't make me do it this time :/

As for Modulen, the doctors haven't said anything about it yet. Had some clear soup this morning, but it tasted like salt water.

The doctors are giving me laxatives up and down. The alternative is the NG tube, which I hope I won't have to go through. My butt hurts ._.

Hey CYY! I sure hope things get better. I hate it when my butt hurts too... real bad! Take good care and make those doctors earn their pay! I'm around if you wanna chat a bit. ;)

The international dialling code for Antarctica is 672.....Now you know that you can all sleep better tonight.

Can't sleep because I've been taking lots of laxatives. Hope you guys don't feel as shitty as I do! (Forgive the bad pun) :ghug:

Hey CYY,

You are entitled to worse puns than that one buddy. I really feel for you right now. Just being in the hospital is bad enough, never mind massive doses of laxatives. I hope you get through this rough spell soon.

Me too, CYY

Our thermostat reads 76 but i am feeling cool. My wife says i dont feel like I am running a temperature.

If you have had rain recently, the air could be damp and cold feeling. I'm not sure though. Women seem to feel cold when guys don't. No way to know... one of the little mysteries.

For anyone who missed me, I was away on vacation for a week. Life has been so stressful lately, so hubby and I just dropped everything and disappeared for a while. Hope everyone is behaving. Good to see you back, cyy. Hope your gut improves soon.

There is definitely something amiss with my internal thermostat. My hubby says it's like sleeping next to a radiator.I don't have to excert myself much to generate perspiration but luckily I don't smell hahaha (TMI ?)
Today, down at the mouth of the river (Tyne) they are unveiling a monument to fishermen. It's about time too, they've been fishing here since before 1,000 AD.There'll be crowds of people and as we don't do crowds, we're off for a cycle. The bronze fishermen will be there for ever so we will go down when it's quiet.

Am up early trying to sneak some crackers into my system before the NPO order kicks in in about 5 minutes. Having an MRE later. Best case scenario: discharge tomorrow with follow up endoscopy. Worst case scenario: emergency surgery to remove stricture. Fingers crossed.

Hi Carol and Sandy and Everyone
Thank you for the concern
I ran into a tsunami of problems which are being evaluated right now.
It started with the loss of sight in my left eye...it returned quite quickly from the total blackout....but now there are so many specialists involved and so many tests......too many
Hard to keep track and it seems one problem leads to another.
Plus the usual bouts of abdominal pain.....with which you are all familiar...
Hoping for good solutions this week....
Cheers!

Oh Trysha, just how much more are you going to have to tolerate ? I'm sure that you're glad to be home though with your "team" feel better soon or at least improved.

The last two nights I've had dizzy spells ? While getting up to the bathroom and it even wakes me when turning over in bed.It wears off when I'm up and about and I did 10mls on little blackie yesterday.Meds haven't changed and BP slightly high.Any thoughs ?

Sending pillars of support to all of you guys, especially to Trysha and Scottsma :ghug:

Oh Trysha and Carol, that doesn't sound good! And CYY, my fingers are definitely crossed for you!!! I'm definitely praying for the quick release!
Trysha, I'll keep you in my prayers that they find quickly what has been going on, and that it is as easy fix, or resolved and nothing to worry about on the eye problem, and that your stomach problems calm down and everything else calm down or resolve quickly.
Carol, being dizzy like that is nothing to take lightly! I've always read and understood from doctors that being dizzy is something you go in right away for. Please go to your doc today! If that is not possible, go to an A&E (ER equivalent for those of us from the US not familiar with that term). The two things that come to mind are inner ear problems like Meniere's disease, or heart problems. I also just discovered the post not too far back of yours that I hadn't seen for some reason that mentions your thermostat being off. I don't know if that would be related to anything or not but you ought to mention it to the doctors when you get evaluated. Something is definitely going on with you (as if you didn't know) and I am quite concerned.
Hope everyone else is at their upper end of of being good health wise, and every other way also.:ghug:
I have a lot to get done today, foster kiddo is coming for an overnight stay tonight, and Doug and I are going to have an unexpected major lifestyle change come up in about a month that I need to start getting ready for. It seems that Doug's somewhat disabled brother is coming to live with us permanently as things weren't working out living with his sister.
I'll have to postpone telling about our little weekend adventure until later. It was nice to get away though. Take care of yourself everyone!

Carol ...Sandy is right...go see your doc as soon as possible. The irregular heart beat can be a few things one of them is thyroid malfunction and of course heart problems. It can also be reaction to Meds.Go see your doc like the day before yesterday
CYY thank you for your concern....hope you are soon well again and Bach to your home.
Sandy Ron Cmac.thank you for the concerns.
My current situation is plenty more appointments...nephrologist,ophthalmologist,neurologist
and cardiologist.....have to be thankful to the docs for keeping me going even if it's in opposite directions to where I'd rather be.......
Just completed a very inspiring weekend retreat....such peaceful surroundings and the sounds of silence...food for the soul...

Cmack, I don't know about other corgi meetups, but the local one here allows anybody to come. There were at least a few people who showed up just to gawk and squee at all the corgis (my dog found a group of 4 people who seemed corgi-less, parked herself right in the middle of them, and they all started petting her - she was in hog heaven, ha ha!). So if it's something you want to do, see if there's a local corgi meetup near you and just go to see all the ridiculous dogs. :)

Yes, I'm one of those women who are always cold. It's like 90 degrees F again today but I'm freezing in the air conditioning, wearing a sweater and my nose is dripping because I'm so chilled. :p

Carol, when I had labyrinthitis (inflammation of the inner ear which causes vertigo), that would wake me in the night whenever I moved at all in my sleep. I had horrendous vertigo which took 3 months to fully go away, it was awful. I really hope you don't have that! I agree with Sandy, go to the doctor and get it checked out right away.

Trysha, how scary! I hope they can figure it out and that it's nothing too terrible causing the temporary blindness. Take care.

Madhu, I was just about to ask where you've been! I hope you had a good vacation.

CYY, how did the MRE go? Are they going forward with the endoscopy?

Sandy, wow, that is a big lifestyle change! I hope it all goes well.

As for me, I did take Lily to the corgi picnic for a short time. It was very warm out. My guts were unhappy with me so I didn't end up eating anything at the picnic. Lily got too warm and was clearly getting tired (she was laying down and resting instead of socializing with the other dogs) so we left early. I think she had a good time, though. Her energy level seems to be gradually dropping. Today is 2 months and 1 week since her surgery - both vets said she'd likely have about 3 months left to live after her surgery. So we have roughly 3 weeks left with Lily.

Cat, I wish you the best with Lily. About being cold ,Saturday i turned off the air. It was 76 in the house and i was still cold.

Ron, I turned off the AC in my house as well - my feet felt like ice and I had to put slippers on! :p But now I'm at work and can't change the thermostat, and am freezing again.

I really care about all of you folks. I'm hoping everyone is okay, or at least headed in the right direction. :ghug: Carol, CYY and Trysha I wish you all the very best.:rosette2:

Thanks for your support friends.I'm sure the dizziness is nothing to worry about. I'm going to see if it happens again tonight and if so I will make an apt.
We went down to the river to see the Fisherman sculpture yesterday and it's wonderful.I got quite emotional. We do have modern type sculptures dotted around here but they're dedicated to the past ship building, now non-existant.There's fog rolling in off the sea today so will have to wait until it clears before hitting the road on Little Blackie.

Cat, I have the opposite problem with heat (more like Carol). I overheat at the drop of a button. I absolutely detest summers! Carol, please be careful with your dizziness. I also forgot that hyperthyroidism can cause fast heartbeat, but knew that. I'm sure there are other things also, but as I said, please be careful. (But I do hope you have/had fun on Little Blackie today and glad you had a good experience with the new sculpture yesterday. I can't imagine an area being settled for as long as yours, but I know our little neck of the woods is different most areas of the world in that it has only been permanently settled since the 1850s) Trysha, I am sure there are a myriad of things that could have caused your problem with your eye, as you alluded to, I just hope it is something that doesn't cause you problems in the future. I also wish you could just get well all the way and quit having new things come up. I also wish things were better with your sisters overseas.
Again, there is too much I really want to say, but like I said above I am glad each and everyone of you are here. This group is the best!!!
I do have to add one thing. I AM FREE!!! I just took Oto home from an overnight stay here and it is nice to have my own space back. I love him to pieces, but he is a lot of work. Nap time. Hugs to all. :ghug:

Sandy, I dislike summers as well. Even though I get cold way too easily in the AC, my guts can't handle the heat or humidity, and they get angry if I'm out in it. Fortunately our heat wave seems to finally be over. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 65 degrees (about 18 C for the celsius folks) here which is MUCH better. No need for heat nor for air conditioning! That's the best weather.

Carol, I had such a "duh" moment yesterday. The hubby was watching a John Wayne movie, True Grit. I had never seen it before. And the female protagonist had a horse named Little Blackie. I was like, oh, Carol's bike is named that! :p I guess I had always just figured that your bike is little and black, ha ha, I did not realize that it was a reference from a movie. Oops. :p

Ron, hugs to you too. How are you doing today? Give Alex a hug for me. Lily is doing okay. She's becoming more and more lethargic, napping and resting more each day. But she's still eating, drinking, peeing, and pooing normally. Her appetite is very good (she's gotten quite fat!) and she's either not in pain or if she is then she's hiding it well. She still loves getting treats so I don't think she's feeling too badly at any rate. At least I hope not.

Thank you Sandy for your kind concern and that goes for you all
Today I saw a retinal specialist and he repaired a torn retina with laser surgery
What an experience that was....I saw very vibrant colours...had great difficulty sitting still through it all...the nurse held me very firmly...
They had put so many drops in my eyes...about five times...so it was painless but not comfortable ...the lights were so very bright....an incredible procedure...awesome..
We are so fortunate to have these highly skilled very accomplished doctors among us...who achieve exceptional results.
Hopefully this will be the cause of all the problems and the end of them
You are all so supportive and I am grateful for all the moral support you have given me.
Cheers!

I am a little bloated and my righr shoulder is bothering me a little. I just cut down from three of the prednisone to two and a half. Give Lily a big hug.

I built a new front porch today. It still needs more work, but it's solid and safe to walk on. Now I need to cover it with plywood and non-slip rubber coating. Oh yeah, then I need to fix the railing... the weather is nice for a crohnie, so I should be good. I pounded at least 500 3" nails today. "WHEW" :) Happy but tired.

CYY thank you for your concern....hope you are soon well again and Bach to your home.

Haha I see what you did there, Trysha ;)

Anyways, jokes aside, I wasn't discharged yesterday unfortunately, but rather, I was granted home leave until Monday (more explanation below). Thanks for your concern though ^^

CYY, how did the MRE go? Are they going forward with the endoscopy?

Preliminary results of the MRE suggests a stricture in my small intestine, but also shows some warning signs of a fistula in my large intestine. Because the MRE wasn't able to take a clear picture of it, I have to go back to the hospital on Monday for an MRI of the lower portion of my large intestines. The endoscopy has been put on hold.

I'm not sure what's gonna happen next, but I'm just taking it a day at a time. In the meantime, it's good to be home anyways :')

May all who are not feeling too well get well soon, and all who are feeling well continue to stay that way :ghug:

Get yourself to the doc Carol please , its probably nothing but get it checked , my wife had an inner ear infection which caused one of her ear drums to rupture and she had symptoms like that , feel better soon.

The word fistula freaks me out. I'm sorry cyy, don't mean to scare you. I hope they attend to it soon. Usually fistula means your disease is active and severe. My husband had 2 and I wouldn't wish that suffering on anyone. Usually they don't remove fistula for crohnies, because it makes stuff worse for them. So for my husband they put in setons (like rubber bands on both ends of the fistula). It will keep compressing it and the infection will come out as drainage. They usually do this before starting any immunosuppressive treatment. Sending all the good luck to you xx

Feeling better friends. Thanks for your concern.I'll see what transpires tonight and WILL make an apt. tomorrow if I need to.
Cat,my little blackie is as named, but that little pony in the film would have been much appreciated on the banks yesterday.Sandy,we go back 2000 yrs and more, but you know that. Our local Priory is 11th century and there were fishing communities living in clay thatched houses on the river banks, well before that.Of course we all have history, and I'm very interested in North American Indians.

Carol, wow! 11th century, I'm always amazed when things are that old. We have nothing that old here, and our Native American history is sadly mostly erased as the white settlers tried to assimilate the Native Americans into white culture, and a lot of Native history was orally told and was lost as their language and other aspects of their culture were lost. The oldest recorded history here in the US is stuff like Plymouth Rock, which dates to 1620 (I had a couple of ancestors come over on the Mayflower).

When I went to Japan, though, everything was ancient and beautiful. Walking through the Fushimi Inari shrine in Kyoto - that's the shrine with the 10,000 orange torii gates. Each gate is sponsored by a local business, and it's been done that way since the 800s AD! Wow! I saw a list online more recently, it was a list of the most highly recommended place for tourists to see in each country in the world. Before I looked at Japan's, I guessed that it might be Fushimi Inari, and it was. That list got it right, for sure.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fushimi_Inari-taisha

I hope you don't have a fistula CYY. They are totally not fun! Have a good day or evening everyone, whatever applies best to you. I'm headed outside after I eat lunch, the porch doesn't build itself. ;)

Hey Chris, we have a few home repair projects you can do when you are finished with your porch.   It is beautiful weather here right now as well for such projects, sunny but cool. When we were on our little getaway Doug and my brother went kayaking Saturday morning, then it clouded over and turned into a cold rain, was snowing by evening, and when we got up the next morning the whole area was blanketed in a heavy snowfall. (It was just raining at our home, a lower elevation by quite a bit.)
Cat, you explained the history of our area and Native Americans (American Indians) quite well. That is cool you had ancestors on the Mayflower!
And I'm with Madhu, CYY, the mention of a fistula doesn't sit well with me either, for reasons she mentioned (Doug had one that was surgically repaired when they took out a chunk of his small intestine, also had a sister have one repaired when she had diverticulitis), and also because there is a very small chance I have an anal fistula, although it is most likely just a boil that is slow to heal. Last time I went to the doctor (three weeks ago) the appointment was partially to have him look at it, but at that point it seemed to be healing, it had long since scabbed over and seemed to be disappearing, so told him I wasn't concerned about it anymore so he didn't look. But since the scab broke open again, a couple of times, and it just won't go away. I'm sure it is nothing, but I'm a worry wart. (Sorry about all the detail ... someone with experience with these things please tell me I'm worrying needlessly!!!)
Well, must go get some things done before the day is over. Hope you are all behaving yourself.🙋🙋🙋
P.S. Give all doggies a hug for me.

Sandy, I don't have any fistula experience myself, but I have had stubborn hemorrhoids. The internal ones have always been the worst for me, even when I got them banded they came right back, and I bled out my backside for a full year at one point just due to hemorrhoids. Nasty, horrible things! So yes, in my experience, hemmies can take forever to heal and go away, if that's at all helpful.

It's sort of cool and sort of sad about my ancestors coming over on the Mayflower. I feel really badly about what my white ancestors did to the Native people and African Americans too. My mom did a lot of work figuring out our genealogy, and unfortunately she found some negative stuff too, including things like a will where a "girl" (slave) was passed down from father to son. So it's not all great, finding out your ancestry like that. There are some cool parts and some funny parts* but also some sad and shameful parts.

*The funny one I can think of is, and I've possibly already told this story on here, but apparently a couple of my ancestors got into some naughty trouble. They were caught "fornicating" (that's the wording that my mom found) and they weren't yet married. The man's punishment was to be put in the stocks for a day, and have tomatoes thrown at him. The woman's punishment was to watch as her lover was put in the stocks and had tomatoes thrown at him - she definitely got the easier punishment! :p They later got married, so it all worked out okay in the end. Ha!

Hey Sandy,

That does sound like either a boil or possibly a small fistula. :( If it is still draining there isn't much that the docs will do, it isn't something they would usually operate on unless you were to abscess in the area. I would keep close tabs on it and watch out for pressure like feelings, fever(possibly low grade), redness and warmth in the affected area or moderate to severe pain. Any one of those would require antibiotics and further assessment. If in any doubt I would also have it looked at.

I have had several fistulas before and soaking in nice warm salt water is very helpful to promote healing. Regardless of what it is, or isn't, salt and warm water would be recommended. I was told to use a sitz bath but I always preferred a nice salty bath in a freshly cleaned bathtub. I hope everything turns out for the better.

And yes, if I were closer I would certainly help you with a few home improvement projects :)

It's definitely not hemmies, though I've struggled with those too in much the same manner as you, minus the banding, although our GI recommended it at one point. He gave me literature, but I never had it done and I think he forgot he recommended it with my following GI problems. Because I'm on blood thinners now, I doubt it would still be recommended.
Regarding ancestry, there has been a lot of work done on both Doug's ancestry lines and my lines as well. It is common to find the not-so-good stuff along with the good. It makes for fun storytelling to other people though! One of my favorite things in my ancestry is during colonial times, not far after the Mayflower, when my ancestor Anne Marbury Hutchinson was banned from the Plymouth colony for standing up for her religious beliefs. I love the fact that she was considered a charismatic leader, and a female, in her day and age! (Even though she was banished from the area for her beliefs.)
Off to the next shift of chores (but not building a porch...)
Jane, are you still around? I found out my brother, currently a long haul truck driver, drives down the Columbia River Gorge all the time. Made me think of you.

Thanks Chris, I didn't see your post before I posted mine! I will definitely try the suggestion of either sitz baths or salt baths! (And the other things.)
And you are such a sweetheart saying you would help with the home projects if you could.

My fistula was internal. Didn't know about it until I was diagnosed with CD. It was surgically repaired when I had my resection.

I haven't noticed any other external anomalies since I've had pus coming out of some sort of boil from my behind a few months ago. That one has long healed by itself. You mentioned an internal fistula. Was it causing much pain when it was there?
