Hi Madhu :) it's nice to see you around! I wish your husband good health. I'm working inside today because its rainy and soggy outside at the moment, and soggy grass cannot be raked. :( Oh well, I'll be dry in here anyhow. ;)

I can't imagine waiting months for an MRI, but I guess being free would do that. There are pros and cons to both kinds of systems. I need to go have a bone density scan tomorrow, but don't even need an appointment (most kinds of scans do, just not this one). Shanen, nice to see you again. It sounds like our weather is similar to yours, but we're a tad ahead.
Have a great day everyone. :ghug:

Hubby thinks he may be developing a fistula. I'm losing my mind, trying to tell him it's probably nothing. I'm starting to get really worried. He has a bit of pain. I don't have anyone else to tell this to [emoji22]

I'm so sorry you are having this stress. From experience, pain isn't always the only telltale sign, for me it was terrible fatigue, a pressure like feeling and borderline fever, barely above normal. I really hope things are going to settle down. You have my support, I know how stressful it can be. :ghug:

Thanks Chris. He has been feeling tired for a few weeks now but no fever. I'm sick of everything. We can't catch a break [emoji22]

I'm here. What did I miss? How is everybody? I'm still doing okay. Busy busy busy with work and life! Lily's going downhill a bit. I think she had another episode of internal bleeding recently. Her gums became pale and she didn't want to eat her lunch. She bounced back from that, but the vet said that she'll likely have more episodes, and that makes me think that the end is not far off now. She doesn't seem to be in pain but she has been limping a bit - the tumor in her right armpit lymph node has gotten bigger which has been causing her to limp at times.

Other than that, life is going well. I still like my new job. I'm working a lot - I even volunteered for overtime last week. My guts are okay for the most part. They got really unhappy for a few days when I tapered my pred from 2 mg to 1.5 mg - guts did not like that at all! But I recovered after a few days. I'm tapering by 0.5 mg once per month, so I think I'm probably going to have a mini-flare each time I taper now that I'm down to such a low dose. I just want to get off of pred already, though.

I'm a bit more active on facebook (particularly with Lily updates and photos of Lily), so if anybody wants to add me on facebook, send me a PM. :) I'll continue sporadically checking in on here too.

Hey Cat. Glad you are doing ok and still liking the job. Sorry our Lily is feeling not too good. What a little fighter she is. Hope its a blip and she improves some soon. 💞🐾

Madhu we are here for you. You can whinge and vent to us hunnie we have broad shoulders. Hugs to you both. I hope the best possible for hubby. 💞

Love and hugs to all. :ghug:💞💝💞

Prayers for Lily and you. Alex sends puppy wags to all.

My dog used to get rose thorns in her paw after I trimmed the rose bushes, Ron. I hope Alex, and everyone really, has a better day today. I knacked my finger cleaning the blender blade yesterday, no wonder it's called the ninja brand. Yikes, I almost needed stitches. I feel like I was sliced by a real ninja! Does a great job if you keep your finger off the blade though, mind you. ;)

Welcome Ron.
Well iv spent my day off at the hospital with my sister. They thought she may have a blood clot... turns out after a scan that she has torn a muscle. So rest n painkillers are advised.
Mmmm i could do with some of that rest me thinks ☺

How is Alex doing? Is he home yet?

Our little monkey, Meika, had a hairdo the other day. She thinks she is The Queen! I just go along with it. :)
The vet could not feel anything. Thinks he tweeked his hip or knee.

My son in OZ is probably losing his dog today. She had an eye removed a few months ago
But lost the sight in her other eye on Monday. She's a big girl, cross mastiff boxer.Scott was working away when he got the news and is due home today. He doesn't want to talk to us until he's ready. He gets that from us.We always grieve alone.

Chris, put warm soapy water in your blender and switch on for a few seconds, then rinse.I use a long handled pot brush too as chia seeds sometimes stick. But I expect you were just being a man, doing house stuff as quick as possible so you can get some serious important stuff done in the shed......Going for a run in the country today to pick up a new release book at a book store in a market town. I only have about 50 now,to get through.I really do need help.

Sorry about your son's dog, Carol.

Thanks Ron.Only other "dog people" understand how painful it can be when our furry friends are sick and eventually, when we have to say goodbye. When they're pups the good times are stretching ahead, but those times pass far to quickly.......

Got my reserved new release at the book store,I'm so excited.AND I bought two second hand ones at a charity (thrift) shop. That's four this week. It's stopped being funny.I just cannot help myself....I AM AN ADDICT.There you go,I've said it.

Me too, Carol. My wife was asking me this morning for the names of all the books she has mentioned recently that she would love to read. I will spend a long time in the library or a book store

Ron glad Alex seems to have nothing serious going on. Hope he recovers soon. Maybe abit of gentle massage on the area may help ease it for him.

Carol you are right its only those of us who have/ had pets realise how hard it hits you to lose them. Im sorry your son is in that boat right now. Love to him and his family and as always to you hen. Xx

I have have a veritable library in my house, your all welcome to come and rumage. Then i might have room to swing the cat iv not got...:)

Love n hugs to all you lovely peeps 💞💝:ghug:

At first glance, I thought you were asking for an entire book case for your bike. :) I'm also a book addict even though for a time lost ability to read anything beyond a sentance or two (though pretty normal now on ability, just don't read as much as I used to). I even, unfortunately, inherited a lot of my mother's books when she moved 1500 miles away. Then, every time we travel to some place with a national park, I seem to pick up books on geology of the area, history of indigenous American Indian people, etc.
Carol, so very sorry abt your son's dog. I think most of here understand how hard that is, most of us being dog people. Ron, I'm glad your Alex doesn't seem to have anything major wrong with him.
Mandy, I'm sorry abt your sister. That sounds incredibly painful. I'm glad it's not a clot though, but what she has is bad enough.
Chris, I second Carol's opinion about cleaning methods for your blender, it's a method I always use. And thanks for reminding me it's time I start using mine again, it would work wonders with my Weight Watchers efforts (a weight loss organization I joined a while ago).
Speaking of Weight Watchers, I'm really excited abt something that happened yesterday. I had my follow up appointment with my cardiologist yesterday, which went really well, who praised me for making an effort to get healthier and announced that if I would like it, he was looking for a group of five people to give fitbits to if that would keep me motivated. I had the Samsung equivalent, which I gave to Doug, but using the fitbit they will be able to follow my heart rate, steps taken, and what ever other information fitbit keeps track of that I'm willing to share. (I'll share everything because it will keep me motivated.) They would have given it to me even if I hadn't said I would share the data with me (they offered it before they asked if I would share data)! Apparently a wealthy patient offered this donation to them, and I was the first one they offered it to, I'm pretty sure because I was able to prove that I am serious abt getting as healthy as I can thru weight loss I achieved between visits. If possible, they would like the five of us who receive these fitbits to become "fitbit friends" and compare info to motivate each other. I'm sooooo excited!

Oh Sandy thats was a nice gesture from person to offer free fitbits for others. I hope it helps you in getting fitter n healthier as i know thats what you'd like to do. All power to you girl.. just dont go running the fitbit ragged now ☺. Remember its a marathon not a sprint. The slower you make changes the longer they last. Thanks hun my sister is pleased its not a clot, tho it is painful its not going to kill her . So happy days eh !!💝💞

Love to all :ghug:

Hi everybody. I am still reading posts. Still in remission. Today is our anniversary so Sandy and I have been celebrating. Going camping and fishing next week.

Happy Aniversary Sandy n Doug.
Heres to many more. 🍾🥂. Enjoy your trip and safe journey.

I received my letter re my Gi appointment. It said that im still in clinical remission with a HBI of 1 . So hopefully my scan will confirm this at the end of the month ☺

Have a good day/night everyone 💞💝

Hugs and best wishes Sandy & Doug.Have a great trip and Sandy do what Mandy says.DON'T overdo it just because you're being monitored.Softly.softly, catchy monkey.

Sandy & Doug have a good camping trip to start a season with many more good trips to come. That first camping trip of the season can feel magical, just make sure to have warm clothes and sleeping bags, those nights can still be cold.

I hope everyone is winning a round. Had a better night this time instead of tossing and turning like the wash for the past 3 nights. I know I'm having issues when I wake up downstairs in the living room chair not remembering climbing out of bed constantly repositioning myself. Then going through the day in a constant fog of fatigue.

Same here, Bufford. I'm hoping tonight is better too.

The waking up in the chair thing reminds me of a time when my best friend in high school woke up... only to find that a drunk guy had stumbled home from the bar... he had gone into the wrong house and passed out in the recliner right outside my friends bedroom. Boy did they both get a shock in the morning!

Hi everyone, hubby had his MRI today. He has a fever of 100.15 now. He has never had a fever after an MRI before. Have you heard of this? He had an MRI enterography with IV contrast. If it persists in the morning, we will be calling his dr.

I haven't heard of it from anyone I know. I suppose the contrast could cause an issue if you became sensitized from too much exposure to it though. My very best to you both.

That's what I read too. Thanks Chris

Hi Madhu...it is a good idea to check with the doctors about the fever and ro make sure your husband has not picked up an infection through the IV.
Tomorrow I have to have the same procedure and not looking forward to it with undiluted
pleasure.
Hope your husband will soon feel better

Thanks Trysha. His fever broke last night but we are still keeping an eye on him. He had to drink 3 bottles of the barium liquid compared to the 2 he used to drink earlier. Poor thing was miserable. You are all champs for doing this. I hope you ace the test and it shows you in remission. Good luck!

Well, I have another doctors appointment myself this week. The doctor is fine, I just don't like sitting in the bloody ugly chairs. ;) We have been getting the grass raked here. I hope everyone is feeling okay. Cheers!

Hi all..a quick pop in before i start work.
Madhu as said earlier mention it to the doctor. It may or may not be related to the contrast. Hope he feels better soon 💞

Chris best of luck with your appointment and the ugly chairs!!💝

Trysha hope things go well for you too hun. No nasty surprises please MRI scan ...thank you very much. 💞

You all have a good day/evening.
:ghug: :)

Thanks everyone. We let his dr know and he made a note of it. He may premedicate with benadryl or prednisone next time just in case

The MRI report came back clear with no active crohn's. Now we have to figure out why he is having symptoms. Thanks for your support everyone [emoji4][emoji173]

Quite the ordeal today....good thing we are made of strong stuff...
The first IV went interstitial and I watched in horrified fascination as the swelling increased
By degrees like an incoming tidal water....hidden under the skin.....forming a small balloon...
It was quickly removed and another started in the other arm.
Then buscopan was injected....that stuff dries out the mouth completely and they expect you to talk. Then I had to sign a waiver because of the renal failure and the radiologist sat and explained the dangers with renal failure and gadolinium contrast agent, which they really needed for an accurate diagnosis. So I signed away.....what can you do...
Next I am taken to the MRI room...and climbed into the machine carefully with the IV in one arm and an alarm rubber System placed in the other...modern medicine at its best.
It is quite possible to compose a tune out of all the clicks bangs and crashes...fascinating experience.
The contrast courses through the vein at a defined time.
It seemed like forever inside that tube and at one point felt like I wanted to get out.
Made it though but it was very tiring and seemed never ending.
I received compliments on the deep breathing and was told it out performed some twenty
Year olds....well I am a runner and always ran with my dog..she was a very lovely miniature French poodle very active as poodles are.I was also school champion for running the 100 yards...I could still do it but not allowed right now .
Since it was an overnight fast I thought I would stop at the snack bar and get a cup of tea
and a sandwich.
As I am looking to make a decision I suddenly knew I could not eat or drink anything...shades of hospital food.....
So I walked to the bus area and went straight home and made my own tea and toast..
Beginning to sound like the tales of Benjamin Button....
Some might think it a profitable morning ....hopefully it will all be worth it and enable
A happy start to springtime...and no additional Meds.
It was a lovely sunny day today, bitterly cold and windy...but sunshine makes a difference.
Madhu I hope things stay settled down for you both...good news to hear he was a bit better.
Time to say good night Everyone.

Chris...good luck with your appointment...sorry the chairs are not visually appealing...
But are they comfortable to sit in..?
Thank you Everyone for all the support.

I just read the first 12 pages of these posts. You are all wonderful people.

Thank You for sharing. Lynda.

Hey Trysha, the exact same thing happened with my husband as well. The IV went interstitial and swelling happened. Then they punctured the other arm. It was a huge ordeal until the test was over. He was so nauseous because of the barium. You guys are true warriors [emoji173][emoji173]

Never seen an orange chicken strutting about..the closest would be a Rhode Island Red..
and they are huge used to have some in our garden in UK.years ago.
It’s a better day today.....only appointment is Physiotherapy and that’s always good.
Welcome Lukesky and Linda.
Our weather is something else...no sun ..rainy... and snow expected by weekend..lovely.
Now to finish the chores and get on with living
Cheers Everyone
Winning....

Things went fine at the doctors today, back to the rest of my life I go. I only complain because the chairs are old and they clearly aren't clean in the least. It doesn't kill me, I just find it disgusting. Anyways, if that was my biggest problem for today, I'm blessed. I hope you all are doing well. It's miller time here! ;)

That's great news, Chris!

Lynda it looks like you're getting addicted like most of us on this thread....welcome to the Loony club....;)

A few minutes after Friday here (well, almost 1am), so happy weekend to all of you. Welcome Lynda and Luke. Lynda, I'm sure it was a strange read in some ways, but glad you are here (as well as you LukeSky).
Im glad everyone got thru their appointments ok (as did I for a follow up on a med change). I've also had IVs infiltrate, depending on how badly, it can be quite painful. There were times when I was misdiagnosed with MS and they thought I was having exacerbations (but actually having mini strokes) I would have five day IV steroid treatments at home, it would infiltrate in the middle, and I would have to call the home nurse nursing service to come fix it.
Yes, we had a good camping, fishing trip, even though I didn't get out on my kayak as we brought Oto, our former foster son and he is afraid of the water so Doug kayaked while we shore fished. (I'm also dealing with low iron levels so fatigued.) Oto was very well behaved for Oto, and very happy to camp with us as we used to camp quite a bit when he was around more (ie living with us). Where we went had full electrical, sewage and water hookups, and we were even able to watch tv or DVDs in the evenings. Hardly camping in a way, but all three of us couldn't live in that space very long, it's only a 17 ft trailer.
Right now I am quite sad though, Casper, who has gotten more and more attached to me (and vice versa), just isn't working out very well as a family pet. He growls and lunges at strangers, has nipped at Dave when he lived here, barely tolerates Doug, has nipped at Oto, and even after the camping trip when back at our house bit Oto. It wasn't too serious, because I swatted a warning swat at him as he lunged, but did break through top layers of skin and bruised him a little, just not deep enough to bleed. This last bite was all because I asked Oto to rub my aching foot (the one that needs a joint replacement.) We are seriously considering bringing him back to the shelter we got him from tomorrow (it's a no kill shelter so he will stay there until he gets another home.) It breaks my heart, but we can't risk having him do serious harm to someone. He obviously doesn't like Oto, we think because Oto has a significant tremor and awkward body movements, but Oto is at our house almost every other Saturday, all day, and we don't want problems for him, of course. 🙁 I just wish there were some way to communicate with Casper the seriousness of his actions. My little snuggle buddy probably not here after tomorrow. :frown::frown::frown:

Welcome Lynda and Lukesky 💞

Sandy glad you had a good camping trip ☺
Aw so sorry that Casper is not the dog for you.💝

Glad the appointments went well for everyone. Hoping that it contines to do so.

Love n hugs to you all :ghug:

More upset for you Sandy. It's very sad but sensible ,that he goes back to the shelter.Heaven knows what the poor little mite has been through in the past to make him snappy.Maybe he needs a one to one home with a lady as kind as you are.

Doug just texted me that he has taken Casper back to the shelter (as planned) while I was at my Weight Watchers meeting. It is for the best as he has snapped at everyone who has been in our home (except me) including Doug and Dave. He is definitely a one-person dog. The good thing is that when he went back to the shelter, according to Doug, he was playing with the dogs up front so he is still dog friendly. Hopefully he can find a good one person home. I feel a little numb right now, I'm sure tears will follow soon.

So sorry Sandy. I'm sure you did the right thing for him and everyone. I hope he finds the right home for him with people as kind as you xx

My last picture of my little buddy, waiting for Doug to finish loading the kayaks.

Sorry to hear your sad news Sandy but you have done the right thing.
Dogs are never allowed to bite people especially children...and things can escalate so rapidly.
There will be another home for him but he does need training by a dog specialist.
The gadolinium seems to have infiltrated my arm ..it is very swollen and inflamed but cooling off with ice packs.
I can’t stand the thought of an ER visit...and I’m pretty sure they will only do what I have already done.
The acupuncturist stopped all the pain and swelling in my leg following the MRI with contrast.
I’ll see how things go after the weekend.
Our weather is dark and foreboding..very wet and windy...temperature dropping snow in the forecast.
Such a lovely weekend...........?...
Cheers.....
