Hey everyone, hope this finds you in good health today. So I have something new going on....seems like a regular thing these days. I didnt sleep well last night, my legs were hurting really bad....bad cramping. Im not sure what to think, but I hope it passes. Usually I get cramps in my calves....but this is from my hip down, on both legs. They both hurt really bad, so bad that I can barely walk, I took a pain pill and that seemed to help. Has anyone ever experienced this before?? Is it crohns causing this problem, or do I need to worry about something else?? Any input helps....thanks!!:yfaint:

Hey Bev, I got that from time to time, steroids can cause it, and if you are a person who walks alot and then stop sometimes that causes cramping. One thing you can try is tonic water, use cranberry juice with it as it tends to taste bitter and fizzy. The quinine in it is what helps cramps. It works for me when I need it.

Also, I see you are on Entocort and Lansoprazle, please tell me you are taking a good amount of Calcium and Vitamin D (D3 is best) to counter act bone loss. Anyone at any age on these should be on adequate amounts. :hang:

Maybe your potassium is low? I got this after my last scope. I got really sick and one of my worse pain was really bad leg cramps. Only way I can describe how it felt Is it felt like a bad Charlie horse that doesn't go away in both legs. We think the leg cramps was from low potassium and electrolytes thrown off by the prep.( I got sick because of contaminated diprivan..scary!) I took a potassium supplement pills and drank some powerade and it got better. I would check with your doctor first though and see what he thinks.

Have you ever experienced arthritis from your chron's? That has been one of the most debilitaing problems with me. Before I got diagnosed and on meds that worked I could barely walk or get out of bed even it was horrible. Maybe this is perifrial arthritis(thats what my doc calls it) from the Chron's....Hope you find relief soon

Not only bone loss...but I find if I am lacking in Vit D my muscles start to cramp in my legs....especially at night.... Might be something else to try......

Don't forget the salt! You need both potassium and sodium to help your muscles work properly. Bananas are good for potassium and easily digestible. And then something salty - I don't like the taste of salt so use bovril (chicken stock). White bread also has salt in.

Alternatively you could try an oral rehydration drink (not the same as a sports drink) which has the correct balance of electrolytes. Don't know what you have in the usa, but here we have dioralyte. The chemist will stock something similar.

Wow, no kidding!

I've only had four colonoscopy tests. The first two were completely different. At SickKids they pump stuff through a nasal tube to clean you out during the day.

My first one with prep was when I was on Remicade, and I got through it without any trouble. Probably because I was healthy.

Early this year, when I was really sick and got the last colonoscopy, I had really bad leg cramps. I was taking advil to kill the cramps so that I could actually GET OUT OF BED and physically stand.
But uh... OOPS NOT A GOOD IDEA. Apparently I shouldn't take advil and if I were to guess, advil is probably the reason I threw up blood that one time. I'll just not take it and document how many minutes red liquid doesn't fly out of my mouth in a projectile manner, and deem such science conclusive.

I thought I'd actually destroyed the muscle in my legs somehow. I thought I'd be walking like a penguin for the rest of my life. I never would have thought it had anything to do with the colonoscopy prep, considering I was already limping.

But I'm good now.
