Hey guys,

I used to be a member on here a few years back but I have lost my account details and cannot recover them. Anyway, I now reside in Melbourne, Australia having moved here from the UK.

I was diagnosed in the UK with Crohn's disease when I was 17, I'm now 26 and have been on the same medication since: 125mg Azathioprine and 4g of Mesalazine daily. Because of the long term usage of these I am wanting to get an opinion of someone who trusts and believes the MAP bacteria may be a cause. I am in the process of sending my blood samples across to NZ to get me checked out. I want to get a more up-to date medication as I am starting to lose weight again and be in more discomfort.

Does anyone know of a good gastro in the Melbourne area, I know I saw Howard Tang in Glen Iris but wonder if anyone has any experience with someone who may be worth visiting?

Thanks

James

He's not in Melbourne but works with GI'S all over Australia his name is doctor Tom Borody google him he runs a centre called the good gut health centre in Sydney. Also there is a good GI here thar specializes in FBT they basically replace your gut bacteria with someone else's http://www.melbournefmt.com.au/the_clinic.html

Thanks for that, I had read up on Borody. Potentially down the line I may pay to visit him. I have heard about the Fecal transplant, I'm certainly down for anything as I don't want the azathioprine to do any more harm to my body. I take probiotics, around 300billion CFU daily and I will say that it definitely helps reduce my pain, that's why I'm convinced it must be MAP or some other bacteria. I'm open to suggestions though. My Crohn's is active in the duodenum and some small tiny ulcers in my large intestine but no pain associated from them.
