So this weekend the weather finally cooled down. I havent' rode my horse in 2-3 months, as the Texas heat has been completely BRUTAL. It has been a toll on my body and I gave up the horse, fishing tournaments, and outdoor stuff in general as it set off my intestions like nothing else. Hell in the spring I was putting Mr Charmin's kids through college I think.

Well, like I said it cooled down. Thirty minutes into lunging my horse to prep her up for riding, I felt cramps yet again. Minutes later in the bathroom I finally gave up, and accepted horseback riding simply isn't enjoyable anymore. There's too many variables that must be in place for me to have a good ride, and worse, this horse is still young and gettign wilder and wilder as the weeks pass on.

Got to work today, and talked to a woman with a 10 year old daughter who loves my horse, and they were asking if I ever sell her talk to them first. Wednesday I take her in to get her annual vaccines and shots and all that, then I'm dropping her off at some stables they are getting coordinated right now

This by far was the hardest thing to give up this year.

That truly sucks. I had apps for many years and had to give them up. I still miss them.

Aww Joe. I'm so sorry. That was very sad to read and I'm sure it's extremely hard for you to do. The only positive is that she will be with someone who will love her and take care of her. At least you know that much.

Sorry to hear that you're having to make such a hard decision.

If you really enjoy your horses can you find an older experienced one to have around and be able to hop on without having the stress of not knowing how they are going to react after being off for a few months? I don't know about the States - but in Canada there are lots of great older horses that people are willing to free lease out just to not have to feed it anymore - then you could always give it back to the owner if it didn't work out.

I've got one of each - a wild and wooly 2 year old that I'm starting right now, and an older one that all the kids (and their friends) can ride.

Good luck with your decision.

Awwww Joe! That really stinks!!! Even though it's hard to give up something that you love, the good things she will be with someone now who will love her too!!!

dropped her off today with the new owner, who is goign to test her out for a month and let me know for sure.

bah.

I'm sorry to hear about that. Sometimes giving up family members that we love is the hardest thing in the world to do, even if it's the right thing.

I can truely relate to your situation. I may have to give up my dogs. I'll pray for us both.
