The GI nurse just called to tell us her last day is this Friday. I think my heart literally stopped beating. She has been his nurse for 5 years and absolutely wonderful! She's even called during off hours when at home just to check on him.

She's moving to a different clinic closer to home and with less hours so she can spend more time with her family. Can't blame her for that, I guess, but it sure was hard saying goodbye.

Ugh.

And the scary part is that they haven't hired, let alone trained, a new nurse yet!

:ghug:

Thinking of you hun. It surely is hard, and scary!, when someone you have great faith in and a wonderful rapport with leaves their position.

I hope all works out well in the long run and this ladies replacement proves to be fabulous too. Good luck!

It's horrible when you lose a medical person you really like and trust. Hopefully the next one will be great too

I feel for ya. Grace's infusion nurse ways away at a conference and I thought Grace was about to cry when she heard. We definitely get attached to the good ones, don't we?

I hope the new nurse will be just as good and kind.

It may not always be the case but, often it's the overall environment and/or culture of the clinic that results in good staff. Hopefully, it will carry on with the new nurse.

When S's regular assistant/nurse went on maternity leave, we found the new one to be pretty much as helpful as the previous one (although, she did have less experience... but, with the knowledge you/we have all gained here, you can easily fill in those gaps!).

Aww I feel for you. My Remicade nurse went on Holiday and I was so sad. To the point where I am trying to plan my infusions by when she is going on vacation this year

Hugs our GI nurse changed three times
It takes a bit to get used to the new nurse
But you will get there
