hi eveybody im becky...im new to this so please bear with me,lol....looking for some advice.im 35 week pregnant with my 4th and have had Crohn's 10 years...this pregnancy ive had mild flare....but lately ive become worried as ive had unusual symptoms which include faeces coming out of my vagina every so often (really runny, loose) which stings and burns me like hell when it happens, also im so sore and red and swollen down below, alot of discharge and 'gas'.....horrid i know, somebody mentioned to me it sounds like a fistula...what are your thoughts?

also im pretty sure ive had a prolapse of some sort as i feel like everything down below is about to 'fall out of me' and have pain, heaviness, dragging sensation constantly...awfull backache struggle to walk and when i decided to have a look down there in the mirror it looks as though my insides are bulging out of my vagina and when i cough or 'push' it protrudes forward to slighty outside my vagina.....really bad with 'wetting' myself lately too....not a little but can be a full on wee...had to start wearing incontinence knickers...so fed up im only 30! mentioned this to my midwife she just said its because its my 4th and shrugged the prolapse thought i had to one side, didnt even examine me....

ive now told her the 'fistula' symptoms and also that my Crohn's is playing up slighty so shes booked me in to see consultant tues....

just anxious for the appointment now...what do my symtoms strike you as?im terrified as i heard that fistulas can be dangerous for delivery and im due soon....would i need c-section if this the case?was originally down for another homebirth but now im unsure if i want one as im scared of pushing as im sure my 'insides' are going to fall out if you know where im going from?plus the fact im so so sore down below, even my anus kills me lately plus a few haemaroids which are getting worse!please help and advise me! thanks everybody for taking time to read this it means alot.....:sign0085:

Are you seeing a gastro? I don't have fistula disease so I cannot comment with experience in that arena. I want to say I have read that you should have a c section if you have active fistula disease? I think you should make an appointment with your gastro to determine what is going on so you can make an educated decision for you and your baby's health. Please keep us posted

Hello and welcome to the forum.

It does sound to me like to me that you might have a fistula, I am glad that you are seeing your GI this week as they will be able to check this out and advise on what needs to be done next. I have not had fistula's myself so could not advise on how this will now affect whether you have a c-section or natural birth, this is something your GI should be able to advise you on tomorrow - at the very least I would think a home birth would now be ruled out. I would also ask about the other problems that you are having so this can be sorted for you as well - I do not think much to the midwife and her comments :(

Out of interest are you on any meds for your crohn's and if so what are you taking?

thanks for your post angrybird...i am currently on messalazine 500mg 6 times a day, mercaptopurine 50 mg one a day, iron 200mg two a day and folic acid, vitamins etc....i have had two previous pregnancies and was on no meds whatsoever due to being fine....however at 2 month pregnat this time round i had a flare so was advised to stay on my meds, consultant just 'tweeked' them and managed well upto about a month ago.....yeah im pretty dissapointed with my midwife too, but at least i should get some answers 2morro at the hospital! really anxious though...ive wrote down all of my symptoms to show him as im panicking i will forget to mention everything as theres so much going on!just wondering what sort of tests/exams doc able to carry out on me being 35 wk pregnat, and even if he able to do anything whilst im still pregnant?any ideas? is this your first baby whilst having Crohn's? its great to hear your coping well with the pregnancy......

This is my first pregnancy with crohn's so I am not sure what tests they can carry out but considering what they can do nowadays in the medical world I should think more can be done than we think. Writing everything down is a really good idea so nothing is forgotten.

Please keep us updated on how you get on.
