Hey guys doc told me I have heaps of inflamation in my rectum so know I know why my backside hurts like hell.

He said I should try steroid suppositories to get the inflamtion down but I couldnt get it up there and it hurt like hell due to the inflamation.

Then he suggested a cream ok but how can I put it on when I have constant leakage and BM's so it will rub off straight away so I was just after some suggestions as to what I can do cause sitting here in pain and discomfort.

hey ozboz
i have been going through a similar dilemma - if you could just tolerate the first 2 times i know it is hard but it actuallly does get easier. I started mine a few days ago - i got a nurse to do the first one for me. If you are anxious about not being able to keep it in, lie on the bed face down and have something to distract yourself straight away, i find a book or a laptop. have you tried the foam form ? it might be easier to take, also use plenty of vaseline or kyjelly. try to keep the next one in there i promise you it will get easier but i do think you should try the foam inside of suppositories

I'm also in the same boat!i couldn't do the suppositories due to diarrhea all the time but I did manage to get some lidocaine jelly up there and it helped a whole lot with the pain..just numbed me up..if you can ask for viscous lidocaine. It has a small applicator that u can put it in with right from the tube.if you can squirt some inside, you may be able to handle the pain of the steroid supp.

All great suggestions. All I can add is truly, it gets better quickly if you can manage the first few days. I've done suppositories and enemas. They all hurt like hell, but got better over time. Once the inflammation started to go down a bit, the supositories were actually less painful than the nozzle of the enema, even though the suppository is a larger size in diameter... well, that's how it was for me.

Best of luck to you!!

also maybe take it an hour before you are due to get up - before you start having a BM, it is harder when you are up and around I find.

karj I have bm's as soon as I get up so dice there my bm's are unpredictable and come on heaps at a time

i feel your pain, i had to skip mine last night because of BMs, try and just to take it once anytime in the day that you are free for a BM, or maybe get the doc to prescribe imodium so that you can take it even the first day? maybe that might help
