I hope this doesn't fall under "had to be there"...
It only took about a month after my "reverse ileostomy surgery" to endure another flare. GI now believes Tysabri is best option. I've been placed on prednisone 40 mg and instructed to administer Mezaline enemas each night while we wait for my blood test results.
I've been fustrated because I thought I'd be enjoying a medically induced Remision but regaining my sense of Humor helps...
Last Night I was in my bedroom on the floor (wrapped in a huge beach towel) "delivering" the Mezaline (our bathrooms will not accommodate my six foot frame laying down). There I was and in walks my three year old son who asks "Dad what are you doing?" I tell him I'm looking for something under the bed. "What are looking for?" My Dignity I tell him. No sooner then him saying "I'll help you" he is on the floor looking under the bed. Next my wife follows in and says "he ran up here before I could catch him." My son says "Mom we are looking for dad's dignity". Without missing a beat she says "Oh I'll help" and she gets down there with us Looking under our bed. As I lay there, wrapped in a beach towel, my family beside me I couldn't help but laugh...Crohns is tough, but if we find some humor in the absurd situations it places us in --it gets a little easier to cope. Hope you can all chuckle today.
