Hi Stomagang;

I was just wondering if any of you is using the Stomaguard and can give some feedback as to its usefulness.

I am coming up on pant season and am a little worried about cutting off the flow of my output and after watching the video this product seems to be helpful in that regard. But, the thing costs a small fortune and I don't want to spend that kind of money if it doesn't work as it advertises.

I already bought one of those heart thingies for intimiate moments and that thing was a bust like no other and cannot be returned because it is intimate apparel.

Any comments are welcome.

Thanks in advance!

I don't find wearing jeans cuts off my output at all and I don't use any kind of stoma guard. Most jeans are pretty stretchy these days, and I'm thinking as long as you're not wearing them skin tight like we did in the 80's you'll be fine :) Also, as Amy mentioned on here, maternity pants are great too with the elastic front panel.

The only person I remember talking about a stoma guard is Mark...http://www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?t=11056

Hope that helps!

Hi Heike!!!!! :ycool:

I wear 'pants' everyday....we call them trousers here in the UK. Pants are underwear over here!! LOL.

I wear higher waisted ones, or elastic waist. And I just bought my first pair of maternity jeans...way cool they are! PERFECT for us ostomates!! And once you're reversed...no worries, cause all these things are also perfect for our 'bloated' moments....like right now for me thanks to pred. :(

Can't offer any guidance on the stoma guard. You all know I am a big fan of maternity pants and maternity jeans are the only jeans I will wear anymore. I did recently find some great regular pants at Kohls. All of them have a wide waistband and plenty of stretch. And apparently, according to my husband, the pair I have on today make my ass look good!

i don't find wearing trousers or jeans cuts off output at all... i wear tight low rise jeans with my bag flopping over the top of them, then just a tight top to hold it flat.

Amy....honey...all of you looks goooood! :soledance:

Aw, shucks! Thank Misty! I'm all smoke and mirrors. Actually, I find it fun to see how I can dress with an ostomy and not have anyone suspect a thing! It's like a game!!!

Well, I wouldn't mind the tight jeans but I am in no condition anymore to wear tight tops. I guess, I have to check out the maternity section.

Thanks, Nyx, for posting the link, the stomaguard I was referring to looks a lot like that but is way more expensive.

In the past, when I wore pants/trousers it seems that I cut off the flow which was very uncomfortable (mostly mentally) so I was/am looking for something that gives me some peace of mind.

Thanks everybody for responding so quickly .. love you guys! :)

I tried on some jeans a few months ago to help with my bloating and I can't find any small enough! They are all way too baggy around my legs and hips. Annoying!

Michelle I got my maternity jeans from Next, size 10, but they have smaller. They fit great, not at all baggy, and room for bag and pred tum!

Yeah, they are the ones I tried on! Haha! I'm usually a size 8 at next. Do you think they do size 6 maternity?

Misty, that seems to be exactly my problem too. I have no waist to speak off (I am pretty straight in that area) and when I find some that are comfortable around the waist they are baggy on the pretty much non-existant butt and thighs.

When I go down to the hip then it seems to cut off the flow because most of them end just below my stoma, and evene the stretchy ones don't help much.

Argghhhh, I hate shopping and trying on every piece ....so exhausting. :(

Hi Ladies, sounds like all the problems have been solved with stretchy jeans and such. However, being a guy that use to (past tense here) wear wranglers and loved every min of it, it kind of stinks(opps). My ileo landed right on my belt line dispite my sergeon's best efforts (2007). I had to switch to sweat pants (I have a closet full) because the pressure from the output is like a tooth ache with anything like jeans on. I have looked and looked but really have not found an answer at least for me. I guess I am not complaining because before I had the ileo, life was hell as long as I was awake. Moving on ; ), I have considered buying a belt from celiberty out of Mass but they are very expensive. I am still debating and I may take the plunge. I miss my blue jeans more than my mind so we will see. Good luck to any having the surgery, I would not go back and I have considered having the thing reversed, my surgeon advised me its posible but maybe after my memories fade abit about going the old fashion way, I might also try it. Stoma Guard from Parthenon Co, St Lake Ut

I have sense recieved a new Ilostomy Belt with a Stoma guard option and it works great, even with my jeans. I found it under the Christmas tree. Actually, my PA daughter bought it for me, the perfect Chrismas gift. I would recomend this belt to anyone with a stoma that gives them pain from pressure. Thanks for the info on the flexable stoma guard. This forum has helped a lot of folks find relief from Ostomy problems. Bob from the foot hills of Maine... Think Spring
