I've decided that education is highly overrated.
I mean...who thought of kindergarten???:voodoo:

She's super excited.
:dance:Can't wait to go.

Mom on the other hand CAN!:(

Hope she did well (mom too!)

Is she there all day or is it half-days?

No I didn't sit in the corner!
I was thinking about going into the cubby but their just to small.:(

She goes five half days. Thank GOD! That's the only reason I'm keeping my sanity.
I did get to go for a walk with my friend. That was nice!

Oh girl! Wait till they can stay home by themselves and watch their younger siblings! A whole new world emerges for you! But enjoy it for only a little while because then they learn to drive and then the wrinkles really emerge!

Hope Grace is having a great time!

I hope she has a great time! In Canada (or Ontario at least) kindergarten is being fazed in to full days. The school I work in was a pilot school and we have had full days for 4 years now. I hate it. I would hate to send my kindergartener to school for full days. I work in a kindergarten classroom and IMO these kids are too young to be in school all day. Its very stressful for some of them. They are hoping full days will keep parents from paying daycare to watch their children in the hopes that more families will be able to afford to go to work.

First off - hope she had a GREAT time in kindergarten!

The school here has full days - not sure what I would have done if there was only a half-day session as both parents work, it can be hard enough during summer vacation to arrange child care.....

Missed this yesterday. I'm sure she was thrilled to be going to kindergarten. When my second went, there were a few of us moms with second children starting that year, we all went and had pedicures as we finally had a couple of hours :) I think it is harder on us than them

Jacqui...pedicures? Um...yeah...hard!

I think at such a young age it is hard to generalize about what the kids are capable of. Some are ready for a full day all 5 days...some need a little more time. CT is one of the few states where the cut off is December 31st so we have quite a few 4 year olds in Kindergarten. My last two were 4, one of them into October. Both those years they were voting on whether or not to move the cut off to August so all kids would be 5 when they started...I bet you heard my blood curdling screams when I heard that one. I had my appeal letter all written as there was NO WAY O or her younger sister were staying home a day longer than they had to. The vote never went through. YAY for me. Many parents do opt to delay their child's start though so my kids had students in their class who were a full 6!

In Ontario you have to be 4 years old by December 31st to start in September. My youngest was 3 and a half when she started kindergarten as we have Junior and Senior Kindergarten (not pre-k and kindergarten). Our school is starting full day everyday this year. Previously it was full day alternate days so my girls went Tuesday, Thursday and rotating Fridays.

She had a great time. I MADE her hug me good-bye.

Our public schools has 5 full days for Kindergarten.

However, it's really just half kindergarten and half daycare.

We have Pre-K (3yr old), K-4 (4yr old) and K (5-6 yr old)

We even have early 5's program for kids that just aren't ready for K.

We decided to do K-4 because she is already mastered letters and sounds and numbers and adding up till number 10.
Also is gives her something else to think about then her joint pains.

:dance:Today I will going to get my hair cut and styled and I'm even thinking....color. I could get use to this.

Glad she enjoyed it! Funny - I decided to have my hair cut and coloured today as well! :) Don't know if my poor mom will like it but it's alot shorter and has thin streaks of copper running through it! Did your hair turn out nice?

My hair turned out good. You know how it goes.......it looks good on every one else but for some reason it looks different on you.:voodoo:

Grace's Teacher told me today that during a game (tag) that Grace asked if she could just sit down and watch.:(
She also said that Grace just sat still during most of numbers (I think it was numbers).
NOT NORMAL for my four year old.

Oh she hasn't poo'ed for 4 days. :eek2: I increased her Miralax.

Hopefully it's just a little bump in the road. Head back in sand and will enjoy it while it last.

Glad you're happy with your new hair colour! Flaming red, wasn't it!

Hoping too that Grace is just hitting a little bump! :ghug:

I have a friend who is a K teacher and she says it takes a good three weeks before kids adjust. She's always telling stories of kids falling asleep in her lap at story time, having meltdowns simply because they're tired, or doing the opposite and shutting down and hiding under chairs. She has a theory that the extroverts have meltdowns and the introverts shut down. Her whole goal for September is to keep everyone awake!

Anyway, my point is that I'm sure Grace probably isn't the only one opting out of activities. If its any consolation, my eighth grader came home and took a nap after school yesterday - and he hasn't pooped in two days :)

Maybe I've got my head in the sand too. Or maybe we just have kids with IBD.
