Ok so every night my bag fills with so much air I have to empty and burp it every 4 hours or I feel like someone is taking my oxygen from me.. So weird. So I havent had a good nights rest in about a yr. Last night I didnt eat anything 3 hours before and put a diaper over my stoma and taped it to my skin. Open enough So my stoma could breathe..

I had the best sleep!! I felt so rested this morning and had energy that I never had before.:D
I know its weird but hey have to come up with something..lol Just something weird to share..

Hehe now wish I could do it again tonight.. Also it felt so good to sleep on my tummy..

I don't eat after 7pm - usually allows me about 6 hours sleep, sometimes 7!!
I usually lay on my tummy when I first go to bed and my bag is empty. It's heaven!! But I always have to roll over before I go to sleep.
I love your nappy/diaper idea. How did you rig it up? I'd like to try it.

well I was Thinking soft and that could handle stool. I use luvs on my daughter size 6 and it covered my whole stomach then I taped(from the diaper) to my skin then I had some tights on and I put it over the diaper it laid flat. also it had the "leak gaurds" on the side so top and bottom for me. And to my surprise it worked. I felt like I could breath good...I was really shcoked this morning the difference I felt.

Sounds fabulously elaborate. And something I might adopt for nights I get a sleep in on. It's really annoying having a sleep in day - and having to get up to empty the bag - then not being able to get back to sleep.
Happened this morning!!
I'll probably ask more questions once I have the nappy/diaper in my mitten and I'm ready to wrap myself up in it!
What kind of tape did you use?

I just used the tape from the diaper. I bought some boy short/tight panties and just covered over the diaper area to keep it from moving. I didn't try it last night and I feel so tired today also woke up feeling out of breath again and had a bag full of air.. I feel the same as usual. Tonight I'm gonna try this again and see how I feel tomorrow.

I Think having the bag over it my air can't escape and it just gets pushed back in and I feel I can't breathe.. with this I dont have that pressure..

Maria, exactly what bags are you using? Can you tell me the type and manufacturer? Do they not have a filter?

They don't have a filter. THey are convatec #125330 It's the only kind my insurance will cover.

wish I could sleep

I'm glad you got a good nights sleep, I am up at least every 2 hours usually to empty, I started using gasx about an hour before I go to bed, If I still have gas I take another one, it seems to work as far as the gas goes.

I know I was much more gassy for about the first 2 months after my surgery Maria, so it should get better. But I would certainly have a word with the insurance company! Again, charcoal tablets (cheap, at the health food store) will help. But if they wont let you have filter bags, they should at least let you have the little sachets you put in your bag to help with gas and thicken output. Ileo Gel I think it's called. Its a help at least.

Yes.. for me it's been a year and it seems like the longer it goes the worse my problem gets. I'm def gonna have to check out the charcoal tablets. I need any help I could get.. I was gonna try the diaper again tonight but I ate wayyyy too much so I dont want to have to deal with a mess tonight.

You might have to tweek your diet to less gas causing foods as well. If its been a year, then it's got to be your diet. Sorry!! I hope you get some help with it.

haha yeah my diet is high in gas causing foods:( I just can't beleive how fast the air gets there then it like pushes it back into me and I get so uncomfertable.. So it's my fault.. Just so hard now I get to eat what I like now sometimes it's just worth the risk.:rof: :ybatty:
