What is YOUR weather like today??

The cyclone formed off Cairns in North Queensland yesterday. Not very big or strong but it has flooded a lot of areas and destroyed over a third of the states banana crop. It is expected to move south and offshore. Cyclones rarely do what is expected of them. Ron.

-5C a few flurries. I need to take advantage of the snow while we have it and get the old canoe and drag it behind the snowmobile back to the house so that I can work on it. I am nowhere near ready for spring yet, and never am, its not a pretty season around here, but I can fully understand those who live in more urban areas. Once the trails break there are many areas inaccessible except by float plane or a rough ATV ride.

Went out to the cabin and had to deal with a large pile of trees blocking the trail. It took quite awhile to clear the mess, but we finally got to the cabin. With the trail cleared I'll go back out and dig out the old canoe and ready it for a trip back. One has to break down the work into manageable pieces, or it becomes too much. -10C under sunshine.

7C here today. Feeling colder in the wind. What happened to our lovely mild summer? It's over by the feel of things. Got my jab today, mind, the vial for my AZ jab isn't anything like the one always shown on tv. I'm being culled, i say, i'm being culled. Didn't feel a thing as i had it. We'll see what happens. Was a nice drive out to the centre. Lanes i had not travelled before. A friend from the village was there at the same time and so was the receptionist at the mot test centre where i was after my jab. Small world congregating. So many more daffs and crocus' up now.
p.s my car passed it's mot again! Not bad for an 11 year old Hyundai.

A bit of seismic activity in the pacific last night with calls for New Zealanders to head to higher ground with Tsunami alerts. The quakes hit around a small island half way between New Zealand and Australia. The quakes were quite big with one of 7.2 magnitude and the other 8 magnitude. There are no reports yet of damage or inundation from any of the pacific islands as yet. Ron.

We had very little trouble with cyclone Nerin. It left North Queensland as a cat1 cyclone but by the time it reached New Caledonia today it was a huge cat 5 storm and hit the islands with 260+kph winds. We have not received much information from the area because most of the communications are out. New Caledonia sent its entire fleet of passenger aircraft to Australia during the week to save them from destruction. I hope that they have not suffered too many human casualties. Ron.

5c and sunny. It felt warmer as the sun shone through the kitchen window but alas when we got away for a bike ride I realised I hadn't dressed warmly enough. You'd think I'd know better by now....The roads and everywhere else are still very busy but the kids are being allowed back to school on Monday so hopefully things will quiet down a bit....

I mean't to say digging it out from the snowbank, our trees are skinny and spindly, it would take something far larger to create a dug out canoe. The canoe I am refering to will take a lot of time to rebuild, a project I will work on over a period of years. I went for a long snowmobile ride yesterday and met many people out on the trails and lakes. Everyone wants to get in a few more trips before the big meltdown. It will be a long time with a lot biting flies before the snow returns. -5C overcast with a damp south wind.

Hello from chilly London. It's hovering around 4°C all this week so the brief spell of warmer spring temperatures is over for now.
Gardening boosts my mood even if it is demossing and weeding and I need happy thoughts badly right now as my next door neighbour Lorraine was found dead at home in early February. She had a lovely greyhound Scooby Doo who is in the Dog Pound. I'm not next of kin so don't know what happened.
Taking herbal calm tablets St John's Wort to soothe my nerves which are shot to pieces.
The GP is useless, he shouted at me to meditate in an empty room and that his dad had died of Covid. So glad I have my cats to keep me busy. Tempted to get more or a dog.

I'm always a cup half full person and always think there are a lot of folk worse off (a lot better off too of course, but I rarely consider them) I think we're all getting depressed now and it doesn't take much to push us over the edge. It's sad about your neighbour but there has been buckets full of sadness this past year. We're hear to support you even though there are forums on here where you can whinge and vent. Or you can start one.
Miserablely grey here but quite mild at 10c.Wet and stormy coming soon. But it too shall pass.....

This time of year for me is the most depressing in many respects with the worst to come when the clocks go forward, I try to manage it by focusing upon the small things that bring pleasure and hope. It is not always easy, but then I have been in far worse in the past. Its all part of life, it cannot always be easy sailing, the main thing is that I wake up each morning. +1C gray, I'll need a longer snooze a bit later, a wee bit of hibernate.

A lovely spring day here today. The sun is out and no coat required at all. The snowdrops have all turned and the masses of daffs and crocus are blooming lovely. My tulips have all their leaves up now and the heads are just starting to show and the bluebells are starting up. I also have an eager to show itself cornflower. The hyacinths in the garden are also ready to rise and open. The lights come on around 6.15 now and i can't wait, unlike Buff, for the clocks to go forwards in a couple of weeks. Then i start to feel miserable as we only have 3months of nights getting lighter before the summer equinox and darker days. Oh, the years roll by like this. I have started to just appreciate the day we have rather than looking ahead. I've no real side effects from the vaccine, although the crohns is kicking up a fuss for the moment.

Stay safe all.

The snow took quite a hit when temperatures remained at +7C for most of the night with strong winds. Ugly out there, but there is some hope as there could be 15 cms of snow to freshen up things coming overnight. The neighbors want to hold a big snowmobiling party on the weekend, hopefully the weather will cooperate.

-8C with 12 cms of fresh snow. You are most all welcome to come, there will be a bon fire and good times for all, and the pie and bottle will do fine
carol. Right now the weather looks okay for the weekend, I'm just watching the spike in temperatures for one day, some have to come a long ways on the trails. It might be the last good winter weekend, but then its still March and anything can happen.

A doctor who doesn't help is no doctor at all! I hope you feel better soon, Ron. On another note, things were sunny here today, however we reached a mere 7c. Good enough for me though. As soon as I saw the street sweeper go past today, I went straight to the insurance agency and got my motorcycle on the road again... I have mechanical work to do so I need to be able to test ride it after each adjustment. ;^)

-12C under brilliant sunshine. Chances are good for a snowmobile ride later today. Without pain relief there are times when I cannot function, there is good reason to take them when they offer a chance to feel close to normal for short periods of time. As Chris stated, a doctor who doesn't help is useless, hang in there Ron.

Hot humid and rain. I wish autumn would kick in. Carol they will only let me take panadol and I find it pretty useless. It appears that my neuropathy has reached my lower body and is starting to affect motility. As a result it is almost impossible to take any opiates including any of the codeine products. My bowels just cease to function. I can't take nsaids because of my kidneys. They also interfere with warfarin. Although cannabis oil is legal on prescription in Australia doctors steadfastly refuse to prescribe it. I have tried physio(repeatedly). I have tried accupunture . I have asked my nephrologist several times about surgery on my lower back. He maintains that with with my level of immuno suppression and auto immune disease, it is highly likely that i would not survive or recover from surgery. My GP recently described me as his oldest seventy year old patient. It looks like my life is as good as it is going to get. Ron.

Hope you're feeling better today Ron.....I find panadol useless too but luckily I'm able to take a stronger OTC pain aid when I need to.We also have OTC rubs that a lot of folk swear by,some with Iboprofen added.
7c with a cool breeze and some sunshine today.

I have been lucky that percocet works well for me. I try to avoid taking the pills unless the pain is warrants it. Being an opiate I find using less is better than taking more to avoid dependence, and it does create constipation. Luckily we have medical cannabis, and I find CBD and indica help with pain and sleeping issues without any side effects. I take in in flower form through a vaporizer as well as chewing it as the edibles don't have the same effect and are much more expensive. 0C under sunshine.

Same here regarding the herbs, Buff. My doctor has lately mentioned a specific type of saline injection into trouble nerve pathways. Apparently it's a very small needle and can treat some pretty serious pain within minutes, as well as lasting several months. I have yet to try it, however, it can apparently help regenerate damaged nerves. I'll be sure to let you know what I find out about it, Ron. It's 12c and sunny here.

Interesting Chris. Today its a pain of a different kind; Daylight saving time. I find it painful and wasteful. Darker colder mornings for one thing, and too much light shifted into the evening when its not needed. I have not changed the clocks yet, and they can wait since I have no daily schedual, nor any doctor appointments. I'll just sort of slide into this mandated time warp over the coming days, but I will not get used to it until we move the clocks back in fall. As far as I am conserned this is nothing more than forcing people to rise and go to bed an hour earlier and it only leads to sleep deprivation, something I already suffer from.

I agree Buff, although Di. won't bless her.Our clocks don't got forward until the end of the month although the days are already longer than I like. 11c and calm today.Started the Spring clean indoors and Les has been painting the back fence.....I'd rather scrub floors.
Home Ron's feeling better and that Di's OK .

What I call Blue Monday, the first Monday following the March time change. That it is, we had our farewell to winter party yesterday at the lake. The kids rode around all afternoon on the snowmobiles while doing a fish deep fry by the bon fire. Due to covid we were a smaller group, there was another party going on the other lake over. Perfect late winter day with sunshine and no wind. But the weather forecast going forward it would appear that this might have been the last of the winter season. Carol if you feel up to it, I have floors that could use a good scrub too. 0C sunshine.

I am here still, however, i still have node and abdominal issues still. I have also got a lot of neuropathy pain from where i had chemo previously. this has been specifically since my covid jab. It seems to have upset my nerves in my lower body and legs. So, i really haven't done much at all other than listen to the strong winds we've had lately. We had in any one day sunshine, hail, sleet, snow, heat, wind and frost. What an absolute mix we've had this past week.

Feel better soon Di,....have you mentioned the side effects to your nurse or doc. ? Of course I don't expect there's much they can do about it now.Hopefully it will ease off, albeit slowly.
Nice mild sunny day, but a crisp northerly breeze spoils it. I should have hung some washing out but thinking about scrubbing Buffs floors did me in.

0C Mainly sunny. Everything seems to be in slow motion right now, if it were not for the virus I would be turning my thoughts to taking a trip, and get out of here while spring does its thing. Di I hope with time that you will be back on the mend and better weather as it warms back up. Don't worry about my floors Carol, for they are half the globe away. I am not thinking about them for that ten cord woodpile is staring me down and laughing at my skinny arms.

Went to the hospital for my bloods yesterday. I was so frozen my tongue went cold and tingly. I've never had that before. My feet went quite numb too. That's rare also. Weird. Was so nice to get back home and warm up. I have an appt with my onc tomorrow. I will mention all my issues then (i hope, i'm not good on the phone with consultancies. Don't know why,. but the docs aren't open again either.

It's not as cold and windy today thankfully and we're half way through March, whoopee. Not that i've got plans on going anywhere just yet. Hope you don't get too flooded Ron. Take that trip before the spring, Buff. You will be chopping wood for the rest of the year before you know it. Mind, you might want to start before the black flies get you lol.

+2C Di the rush will be on soon to cut as much wood as possible before the black flies emerge. The other reason is that there isn't much else to do around here in spring other than work or get away as far as possible by taking a trip, but not this year with the virus situation. I wouldn't want to wear a mask on a two hour flight on top of the time spent at the airport. Thats not possible either, the airline I fly with has suspended operations until the borders reopen.

The rain has been causing quite a lot of flooding in Qld and NSW . It is usual for the sunshine coast to receive more than their share of heavy rain from rain events but this year the distribution of the heavier falls has been in different areas and so far I have been very lucky and only one heavy storm has put water in my flat. Unfortunately the rain pattern seems to have avoided the catchments for the major water supply dams and levels have remained under a combined 60%. Ron.

0C sunny. The nights have remained well below freezing which helps hold the snow pack, during the day temps rise into the mid single digits. As long as the humidity remains low, the snowmelt will be slow. The warmer weather cycle is about 3 weeks early this year, I started digging out a work area from the snow on the green pile, and will soon start working on the woodpile effort.

I was so cold on Tuesday when i went for my bloods the poor nurse couldn't draw enough blood. I had to go back yesterday to have them redone. I'm all ok bloodwise. My ca-125 has dropped another number, but i still have the node issue. I googled it and there is such a thing as Lymphodenitis. I'm wondering what exactly that is. Let's hope it's just that.

It's another cold and drizzly day outside again. The amount of blossom on trees all of a sudden made the trip to hospital yesterday really lovely. Unfortunately i had a puncture so got volunteer driver which meant i got to have a lovely conversation with a stranger who drove a completely different route to the hospital and i really enjoyed going through different old quaint villages with all the flowers and trees in blossom and today i got the govt email stating i can go out on April 1st. The traffic on the road is a joke, as is hospital parking. The only real difference we've had this lockdown is that schools and many shops/leisure are closed.

I'm looking out for sightings of hedgehogs but i don't suppose i'll get any this year. The badger cubs will exit the sett soon.

We had a good walk along the bank top and down to the Quay,a nice circular route.Lots of traffic trying and failing to get a parking place, and queues at the food and coffee outlets. It's 8c and cloudy today but I've just seen a warning of snow and falling temps next week for three days.

Severe floods on the full length of the NSW coast. People are being told to stay home due the dangerous conditions. Many centres on the coast have received rain in excess of 500mm. Warragamba dam , sydneys main water supply is expected to overflow today. Most regions have had to set up evacuation areas. And state emergency is responding to up to 800 requests for help each day in worst hit areas. It is still raining heavily from Newcastle south to the Victorian border. It is still raining in my area and we are expecting 80-100 mm for the next week. Ron.

+3C Temps at night have been mild in the minus single digits and daytime temps close to10C. The snow is taking a hit with these kinds of temperatures, normally we enjoy some of the best trail riding conditions at this time of year, but this year its turning into a bust. I started cutting firewood yesterday, and I was splitting wood with nothing more than a T shirt and underwear in the blazing sunshine. I definitely got a good dose of vitamin D with the sun reflecting off of the snow. Since I cannot do much of anything else I'll keep moving wood.

Heavy rain is continuing in NSW and is expected to continue into late next week. The main water supply for Sydney has over flowed for the first time in many years adding to flooding downstream. whole herds of livestock have been swept away and houses have seen seen floating down flooded rivers. We are starting to get some heavy rain on the sunshine coast and we are expecting rain for the rest of the week with some heavy falls. I don't expect to get thru this lot without water coming in. Ron.

Ron, I'm really feeling for you at the moment. The floods have been on the news here and plenty on YouTube. Looks horrendous. I really feel so bad when animals suffer like that. Can't bear that you are going to have to bail out next week. Sincerely hope you cope.

Tee shirt and undies, Buff. You'd make the world laugh if they could see you. But it needs to be done. I'd offer to come and help but i'm physically useless.

We've had sunshine today and it's quite nice out. I've only been in the garden and given my windows a wash on the bungalow. Is it Spring today? I'm thinking it probably is. That's a good time of year. Mind, if we get the cold next week i shall not be too happy. I'm hoping for better weather and to get out and about in April.

+7C windy, the wind has been carrying away the snow during the night. Rocks are showing up through the snow cover, and it would appear that the trails are becoming impassable, its a full month early. I felt sorry for the neighbor's snowmobile when he drove it down the bare dry road yesterday and the grating sound it made. For winter lovers such as myself its a depressing time of year as there is little to look forward to but a brief period of nice conditions between the time the snow has gone and the biting flies emerge. Depending on conditions there will be the wildfires to contend with as well. The better part of the year is still months away.
Di I have shocked a few people who ventured into the yard watching me cut and split firewood in barefeet, T shirt, underwear, and that colostomy bag hanging out swaying in the breeze. I don't know any other way of doing this work, If I wore clothes the clothing would tear the bag off my body from the constant rubbing. Chronies, we are all a tough bunch who learn how to cope with our predicaments.

Still raining, many areas in coastal NSW are under water and rain is still belting down with falls of up to 300m a day. Two rivers in SEQ also flooded yesterday wrecking roads and inundating houses . 200-250 schools in NSW closed today. It is too dangerous to travel anywhere. There is another massive rain system coming in from the west that is expected to flood western NSW and then add to the problems on the coastal strip. It has been raining non stop for 24 hours in my area. ron.

No sun today, we're back to the dull white sky. No rain but a cold feel even indoors. Ron, I guess you're bailing out but don't like to mention it or moan. It's headline news here Ron. It seriously doesn't look good at all. If it's not fire destroying homes then it's floods washing them away. Obviously no peace for the wicked, but i do declare forgiveness to all those transported for very minor crimes. all is forgiven.

Lynda I hope the worst is behind you (no pun intended) and you feel better soon.
The news on the lap top is still forecasting bad weather soon.
10c and sunny so had a nice bike ride.Les has a routine apt. with oncologist tomorrow.First face to face for a long while. But all's ok,we think.

Yesterday was a better day healthwise and I cut more wood than on Saturday. My stricture has been acting up lately, I must go easy with it. I hope you will feel better Lynda, and you are back home. Its a struggle as there is nothing worse than falling behind on firewood and coming up short when one needs it. Its not a problem if I work at it in a timely manner. +6 Gray. We had rain overnight adding to the melting mess, but this week could be interesting as a storm system expected to develop could bring needed snow to this area that has received below normal precipitation levels.

Nothing has changed. NSW, SEQld and now eastern victoria are all awash. NSW is talking about 15000 evacuations likely today. There are six separate rain systems active in Nsw and two in QLD. I am holding my own against water coming in but I am losing a lot of sleep waking up and using a torch to check for water coming in every time I hear heavy rain. Prolonged droughts, a year of fire and now a once in a century floods . Wonder what happens next year. Ron.

-1C partly cloudy dead calm. They are calling for heavy snow for the next day, I'll have to get ready for it, bring in dry wood and watch nature's fury. I got an air fryer from the Airmiles program at no cost. It does an amazing job cooking up food much like a BBQ, and I can run it on my generator during power outages. I did ribs the other day and they came out like from the restaurant.

Sounds like everyone is having fun. Carol with her oven and yearly ritual. Les is actually seeing a medical professional. Ron is doing a watch on rain in Australia, Buffs got a new air fryer, and Lynda is in hospital. Where's my excitement? Oh, hang on, ........ the sun is out! It's not too cold Jackdaws are collecting twigs from my garden (how helpful). My elderly cat has her bikini on in the garden (something must be right with our weather), and even my house plants are showing signs of new leaf and buds. Not a bad day really. I still deserve a quick holiday in the sun, however, our govt have now made it illegal to travel on holiday! I wonder when the misery will end? I just want to do my bucket list come home and hope to live a few years. This isn't living, but today is a better day.

I actually saw the sun this morning. Many areas in NSW and SEQld have also seen the sun for the first time in a couple of weeks. Sun or no many areas are still seeing rising river levels and no relief from the floods. Supermarkets are receiving supplies by helicopter in areas cut off by floods. The cost of repairing roads is going to be massive . In many areas the entire bitumen surface of the roads have been ripped off and many bridges will have to get safety checks before they can be opened. In many of the flooded areas the rainfall since the start of the rain event has exceeded over 1000 mm of rain. Most meteorologists have said that they have never seen anything remotely like it. Ron. PS . I was able to stop the water from reaching carpets and cleaned up most of the incoming water late last night. I'm feeling pretty tired and unwell but nothing serious. Ron.

Di., thinks I was having FUN cleaning the oven !!! Wrong. Whilst I like a neat and clean home I no longer enjoy keeping it that way,if I ever did.I think I was born into royalty and my dear mother brought the wrong baby home.Glad you managed to clear that bit of dampness up Ron,now rest.
It's a lovely day sunny 11c.I had a bad start to the day but managed the weekly shop this arvo....now if I only had a chef to cook it and wash up,as I deserve.Might have to get an air fryer.

The rain mostly left NSW , QlD and Vic yesterday but one of the lows continued south and areas on the east coast of Tasmania received over 300mm of rain yesterday. There are still 20000 people evacuated in NSW. On the coast the floods recede fairly quickly because of the proximity of the great dividing range to the coast. One of the major rain systems hit the west of the state and the flood waters move much slower. This morning they entered the western town of Moore and much of the western side of the town is flooded. It may not peak for another four days. As smaller creeks have receded they have recovered two cars from flooded areas in Sydney and SE Qld. Unfortunately both drivers were found dead in their cars. It is now very hot and very very humid. WE are expecting more showers and possible storms towards the end of the week. Ron.

Ron, i wish i had a brolly big enough to put over Australia. those rainfall levels are ridiculous. How on earth is anyone expected to deal with that and the aftermath? I continue to see it on the news and on videos by locals there. What a rough time you're having. Sincerely hope you're coping. I'm slowly starting the indoor spring clean. yesterday i was in the garden and it actually felt like Spring had Sprung! God, i felt wonderful and got loads done. My mood was so lifted, it must be spring. It's such a wonderful feeling to know that the dark days are gone for a while and all is coming back to life. I do love it. No sun yet, but it's definitely warmer today and i intend on continuing as i did yesterday. I'm in the mood to get things sorted. Just wish charity shops were open.

Me too Di., I've got loads for the charity shops and quite a lot in the loft for the auction.Trouble is every one has accumalated "stuff" and the ch.shops can't cope with it when they first open.
12c and a grey and blustery start, but we went for a bike ride (10 ml.) as forecast is a bit iffy tomorrow and the weekend. But don't despair Di.it's just a glitch and all will be hunky dorey soon.

-10C under brilliant sunshine and cobalt blue skies. Chances are good I will go skiing later. We received 20 cms of snow yesterday to freshen things up around here with a good north wind to chill the recent thaw. This is good as the prolonged thaw was getting to the point that the trees may become fooled into thinking its spring only to get frost burned when the cold returns. Its too early as we always get winter conditions well into April. The air fryer is great and I recommend getting one, great tasting food without the fat and grease.

Bright sunny day. Just been down to the medical centre to get my INR checked. It was fine All the doctors were practicing by giving covid vaccines to each other. One of them looked at me and said how would you like to be our first real customer so I had my first shot of covid vaccine. No problems . Ron.

-7C Sunny. Went for a ski yesterday, but the early meltdown left a portion of the trail impassible below the beaver dam with open moving water. Looking forward to getting my jab, but it going to be awhile with the slow roll out of vaccines. Still no mention for when those 60 and older can apply for the shot, and only a small percentage of those over 70 are getting it. The government officials are running around like chickens with their heads cut off in the way they are handling this pandemic.

Not happy.Clocks forward as Di. said.Daylight until after 7pm and soon it will be shining in my eyes while watching TV until 10pm.I do have blinds (shades) so I will close them early and pretend it's not there.
There's talk of us oldies getting a third vaccination in Sept. but we'll see if the 2nd ones go smoothly in April/May.Lost my cursor y/day and could have done with some help.Don't have a I-phone and it was difficult to move around the screen without a cursor.Took me most of the day to sort it and everybody knows I'm NOT tech.savvy........A grey day today but Di. will be pleased that temps in the south are rising into the 20s this week.I'm very happy for you Di., no really I am !!!

We don't do daylight saving in Qld. That suits me fine. We are back into rain tomorrow and most of it is falling in my area. Not happy. Absolutely no reaction to the covid shot.I get the next one in 11 weeks. Ron.

-8C partly cloudy. Went for a snowmobile ride and checked the area where I thought I lost the glasses but no luck. Another 5 cms of snow to freshen up things, I may go for a ski later. Just noticed your post popped up Carol, I feel exactly the same about the clocks going forward. Its wasteful to have the daylight in the evening when I don't need or want it at the expense of the mornings leaving them colder and darker. I never get used to it until we move the clocks back in fall.

I'm envious of those who had no reaction to the vaccine. I'm going to ask for the Biontech one next time. No way do i need another dose of that.

Ron, i feel for those experiencing those weather conditions. We get more than a fair share of rain however, it's not in the quantity that Aus gets. We do flood though, fortunately not in my property. It's lovely and sunny today. Nice and warm and just a cool breeze now and then. I agree about the mornings though. Maybe we just need to lengthen the mornings too by changing the clock hands both for evening and mornings. A 6 hour sleep once a year. Don't think that would work though.

We are expecting a little rain today and temps are string to cool a little overnight. There are still a lot of people unable to return to their homes in NSW due to bio hazards from flooded sewage treatment works and ruptured septic tanks. It will take a massive cleanup to make things safe. Ron.

`15c and sunny. We drove along the coast on the way back from the supermarket and as expected it was rammed.Pedestrians packed on the pavements (sidewalks) no car parking spaces, lots on the beach and in the water. What happened to the 2mtr spacing ? Couldn't fancy a bike ride today !!!

-1C sunny, but very windy. I will do a fuel run as the federal government is intent upon jacking up their carbon tax April 1st despite the financial misery many are facing due to Covid. Its going to be busy at the fuel stations on the first nations reserve where prices are lower. With the rising number of cases I'll have to take all the precautions. Then stock up on groceries and stay home.
