What is YOUR weather like today??

I always thought that chemo would be the worst drug experience I ever had. But prednisone beats it hands down. They can tell me I will surely die but I will not take prednisone ever again. Another warm night tonight and next wed we are expecting the temp range to be 18c to 31c.Ron.

12c and dreary, but it's 23c in London for the tennis so that's OK then.....
I slept well last night, apart from keeping one ear and one eye open in case wandering Rufus (Les) went walkabout, but that's been normal since his cancer treatment .If I get another good night tonight I'll have caught up...I could carry coal in my under-eye bags.

BUFF we need a note about your AWOL !!!

Warming up. Still 31c for Wed but now 36c for thursday. I see my doc on thursday, there is a few issues to discuss. I too hope Buff is ok.Ron.

I have never been a good sleeper but I need at least six hours a night to keep going . I have a feeling the coming summer is going to make that much sleep unlikely, Ron.

I am back from my visit with family and my Nephew. The weather was fairly decent and managed to tick off the bucket list of things I wanted to do, but a good vacation always comes to and end too quick. I had no health issues as this was my biggest fear about going on the trip. In Toronto where the airport is, is so packed with people one spends more time on the road getting anywhere, the place is grid locked most of the time. I couldn't live there. The best part of the trip was the week at the family camp, the area is beautiful. The worst part of the trip was those hard airline seats, its no wonder we hear so much about air rage these days. Flying has become very uncomfortable, I think sardines have more room in the can.

Good to hear everything is ok with you Buff. It is starting to hit the fan in Australia. Both the pacific and Indian ocean have developed a full El Nino profile with very dry weather forecast for all of the continent. yesterday there were 45 fires burning in Qld and 65 in NSW as well as several in Tasmania . There is no reports from Victoria or South Australia because the bushfire reporting season has not started in those states yet. Temps across Nsw have been over 30c and up to 36c in several areas this week. We have several bad fires around our area though none close enough to seriously alarm me though for the first time in years I am packing up some clothes and papers in case I have to leave in a hurry. It could be a very bad year for Australia. Ron.

hey Carol , wet and windy here 19c , how are tings as we say here in Cork ?
All's well Tony.Just got caught in a really heavy shower in town and it was either shelter or run for it (no car now) I'm a run for it sort 'cos who knows how long it's gonna last...Les is a shelter kind and whinged all the way home,30-40min walk, but he was glad we did....secretly.He's doing OK and I'm trying very hard not to think too far ahead...Hope you and your's are well. How's your BP.? We went to have Les's pacemaker checked the other day.All good, another check next year as he has a monitor beside the bed.but I almost laughed when she said he'll need to go in for day surgery to have his battery changed....in 12-15 yrs. Still, you never know hahaha

Good to see you back Buff....I did have a feeling you had mentioned a trip to visit family and I'm happy all went well for you .Ron,always a worry for you at this time of year and good that you're putting a few things together JUST IN CASE !!!
I see a report that NZ South Island has had an earthquake....18c with blustery heavy showers.I've put my summer clothes away for the next 6mnths so that's me back in comfy stuff,Yaaay !!! Have booked our Covid boosters for Saturday. The GOV. has brought them and the flu jabs forward....do they know something we don't ???

Its good to have a plan in case one must run Ron. If it comes down to it, I'll grab the cat, wallet, and whatever pictures and videos on discs and get out since I only have one way out to the main road. I had my MRI done for my pelvic area and it was late when I got home. It was a bit much for my first day home along with a large grocery run with long waiting lines at the checkouts. Now comes the wait for the results.

GRAB THE CAT !!!! RESPECT mate.....Fingers x'd re: results Buff.....

Hope the results are good Buff and I am glad Les is not too bad Carol. I'm off to the doctor this morning. I'm out of a lot of my scripts and I am waiting on some test results on my kidneys, temps as high as 36c today with hot NW winds and high fire danger. My allergies are getting worse and they are causing asthma. I have been having to use the symbicort preventer puffer as well as ventolin. I have had my sleep disturbed a few nights lately waking up in a panic because I cannot breathe. I am getting so congested that with the cpap I can breathe in but I cannot breathe out. The NZ quake does not seem to have caused much damage this time but they are still getting aftershocks.Ron.

Breathing problems are really stressful Ron,but you don't need me to tell you that .I had probs about 30+ yrs ago and I still remember the panic I felt.Maybe prop yourself up on your pillows at night, again stating the bleeding obvious....

Clear blue skies today with a definite nip in the air at 11c

I saw my doc he said that my problems are a combination of the allergy and the asthma. I'e been on a 100 microgram turbo haler and he has put me onto a 200 microgram one. Nothing scares me worse than not being able to breathe properly. It was 34c today dropping to 23c tomorrow. ron

Hope it works better for you Ron...are you still getting a "care" package ?
Temp up to 16c so had a walk down to the coast which was nice...the thing is most of the nice little individual shops that used to be in the village are now almost ALL food / drink outlets....and the prices are stupid....they seem to do OK though

I suffered from asthma when I was younger. I took ventolin as needed and the steroid inhaler too. It subsided in my 40's and I havn't had to use inhailers ever since. Sometimes I feel tighness in my lungs, but it goes again when I relax. Nothing much worse than not being able to breath properly. Its a dandy day here today, sunny, calm and they are forecasting a high of 25C. I rested all day yesterday, its was probably a combination of being tired from the trip home and the contrast ( gadolinium) used in the MRI.

My mother and brother were both chronic asthmatics. I am more acute, I never know what will bring an attack on. It is mostly environmental with a lot of flowering plants causing it, i also have problems with a lot of cleaning agents. I can remember having a bad attack one day when a lady wearing a particular musk perfume walked into the shop. It is not pleasant. It is cooler today but next week we are expecting at least seven days of over 30c temps. It is also very smoky here at the moment. A bit of rain would be pleasant, Ron.

Looks like a quiet early Autumn day (7-30am)....boosters at noon so will walk up to the clinic (30min) and back ,Rain and blustery wind forecast tomorrow so will make the most of the calm...

When I left the doctors last week he said he did not want to see me for six months. I had better change my epitaph to "the doctor did not want to see me " Ron.

I noticed an odd mouse smell in the truck when I got back from vacation, but yesterday the truck stank of rotting mice, feces and urine to the point I could not drive it. I pulled the fan from the heater/airconditioner unit and found a nest with dead chopped up mice with a stench that made me gag when I cleaned it out. I figured the mouse nest was built while I was away, and when I drove it the fan killed the mice and then they rotted over the next days until I started up the truck. Mice populations spike in the late summer and fall when food is plentiful, and then plunge once the weather turns colder and they run out of easy food. 15C partly cloudy.

Nothing smells worse than dead rodents, you have my sympathy Buff, it is hard to get rid of the stink. It is hard to react to my doctors statement carol. I think in his case that it is due to work pressure but I feel that people in our situation need to see the doctor every three months at least. Sunny and warm todac,28c. Ron.

18c breezy but a really nice day...I wish I had some laundry to hang out,but I don't and I'm not looking for any
Strong winds and sharp showers for tomorrow.
Our social worker is calling in this arvo....I really can't fault the support we're getting BUT thankfully we don't need anything
just now...we've been told that if we cancel our support it will be difficult to get it back should things go haywire again so we'll just hang on to Les's support worker twice weekly. He's really there to give me a break so I've made dental and hairdressing apts for the next couple of Fridays.....

Sunny 15C a good day coming up. Keep your options open Carol, you never know when you may need the extra help. We have a mouse population explosion going on. I found another drowned mouse in the wheel barrow after the rain the previous night. So far nothing has come into the house, and if they do they have nothing to fear from the cat.

We had one cat like that Buff, play with the mouse for ten minutes then let it go. I had a unit inspection yesterday but I had the aged care cleaners in the day before so there was no stress or strain. Over 30c predicted for today and possible storms on thursday . Ron.

Supposed to be raining today, clear and sunny at the moment. Feeling sorry for the rugby league players in the grand final this weekend in Sydney. They will be playing in 36c temps. Quite unsafe in my opinion ,Ron.

Well our first named storm of the season,Agnes, didn't amount to much here.Bit of light rain and a bit of a breeze....Grey and mild so far today, still not cold enough for "layers" but have got me socks on now until April.....and yes,I will change them at least monthly.

A big band of storms rolled thru the SE this afternoon. It dropped 50mm in some areas ,we only got about 10mm. There was also some hail and strong winds in some areas but no damage reported so far. Back to warm and sunny tomorrow. Ron.

It is warm but certainly not sunny with90% cloud cover and showers. I have had to take it a bit easy the past week as my back is playing up and I have been waking up most mornings with pins and needles down both legs. I don't like it much as I always feel it could be a sign of worse things to come, Ron.

I went in for supplies and forgot to pick up a few things, I need to start making better lists as memory keeps failing me. The truck while smelling better still stinks of mouse nest and cleaners. Not pleasant. Its warm here too, and we may have a rare fall heatwave by early next week. 17C mainly cloudy.

16c and I'm fed up with it........Buff I've always had a list, wouldn't leave home without one because you can bet that the one thing I forget will be the most important one.I even put an asterix in red beside some things..

Warm and sunny and hot on the whole east coast of Australia. There is one man dead and another in hospital after a recreational fishing boat collided with a whale on Sydney harbour this morning. For some reason the whales are migrating close inshore this year. Marine scientists believe it is to keep the newborn calves safe in shallow water. Perhaps the whales are just sick of idiots in boats. Ron.

15c and grey, but my sort of weather......saw that accident with the whales in the paper....sad,but that's what it was,an accident.
I love whales and all wildlife but we must respect them and their habitat and not think we are a better species that can ride rough-shod over them willy-nilly

The whale accident has been on the news here too. Interactions between humans and large wildlife usually never ends well. Carol, I forgot that most important item, one that I want to return at home. It was to be returned before the end of the month. I'll try next week and see if my excuse of 'forgetting' will hold up. Maybe the forgetful old man tactic will win a round.

I haven't been bumped by whales though I have had many pass close when I have anchored up fishing. I have had plenty of sharks hit my boat mostly while attempting to eat my fish. The ones that put the wind up me the most was the Crocs up in the Northern territory. I got hit three times in one day. The guy fishing with me went white, we were only in a three meter boat. Not too hot today with a couple of early light showers, Ron,.

I always say plead ignorance ....,hopefully we can get away with it at our age.We spend our lives trying to do the right thing now it's our time to let others do right for us......

A nice calm and mild day but clouding over....will have a walk soon then settle down with a good book and a bit of crap TV.....no,scratch that....I'll just read and Les will nap.

Its been on the warm side despite the cloudiness this morning with a couple of summer like days to come before the reality of fall comes about. 17C. I rather enjoyed sitting out on the deck while supper was cooking.

Two areas of Victoria are on fire. The Gippsland region is the worst with three major fires burning ,one on a 43kilometer front with an unknown number of houses lost but no casualties. They are expecting some heavy rain in the next couple of days then a return of hot northerly winds and high fire danger. We are expecting some rain later in the week then hot windy weather.Ron.

and so it begins Ron....keep safe !!!

Its that time of year when the weather can make big swings, in some years we have had snow, but this year we are getting a couple of summer days with temperatures in the upper 20's, but the long term forecast is calling for a reality check by the end of the week.

Severe storms in South Aus overnight with 100 kph winds rain and hail. Thousands are still without power and there are large trees down everywhere. Gippsland in Victoria has three out of control fires with winds up to 125kph . The irony is that later today the same areas could receive over 100mm of rain then back to strong winds and more fire. There are two large fires burning in Tasmania and also on Flinders island one of the Bass strait islands. Much of NSW is under severe fire warnings and there are 82 bush and grassfires currently burning in the state with around 30 out of control. QLD has severe fire warnings but all of the fires burning in the state are under control. It is not even into the official fire season yet. Not much to look forward to, Ron.

OMG !!!! sounds like Hell Ron....16c with a nice drying breeze for the washing,Warmer weekend on the way maybe 22-3c but I absolutely refuse to unpack my summer gear and I'm keeping me socks on...

A lot of people living in cities don't take the carnage going on in rural areas seriously whether its natural events like weather and fire or man made land use problems like clear cut logging and hydro electric flooding. As long as their days are not being interrupted and they have plenty of loo roll they have no idea of the pillaging of natural resources going on. It went up to 27C yesterday, I went out in the canoe and enjoyed the day. Its another warm one today, but flurries are in the forecast for late week.

Areas of Gippsland Victoria on fire yesterday have warnings today of riverine flooding and even snow on the higher ground. What a difference a day makes. Nearly all of the Victorian fires are under control but now the south coast of NSW is on fire again with 73 fires still out of control. We have had some heavy showers this morning which should damp down some remaining hotspots from fires of the past weeks. Most of the worst of the fires were in pine plantations and the stumps and roots smolder under ground for ages. Ron.

Decided to bus along the coast for a wander 'round the shops but after waiting for half a hour realised that the buses were on strike, like almost everybody else in the UK,so walked down to the village instead.Quite enjoyable, but glad to get home. We're expecting higher temps of 22c here at the weekend,25+ down south........Ron,sleepless nights are a real pain as you know. My sleep is average but I'm up and about at 5-30 to 6am every day and faffing around cooking and ironing like a twit which makes it a long day....Oh to have 8hrs deep dreamless sleep.....

It was a warm day yesterday 27C, but today the winds are blowing from the west bringing in the colder weather with snowflurries expected by the weekend. I did little and simply enjoyed the day. We have the same problem of the vast size of replanted areas of softwoods that have become our nation's main cause of uncontrolled wildfires. The authorities won't admit it and blame the fires on other causes or rather excuses as softwoods are very profitable for the logging industry.
Carol, I get a pretty good sleep from 1am until 9am, but for some reason my body craves a noon time snooze before lunchtime.

I'm an after lunch napper Buff. Parts of Victoria received over 250mm of rain yesterday resulting in moderate to severe flooding from Melbourne in the west to most of Gippsland in the east. Four more homes were lost to fire in the Bega valley overnight in southern NSW. Most flights out of Sydney had to be cancelled due to high winds from an east coast low overnight. I woke up to heavy showers this morning. Ron.

12c and drizzly.....WHAT HEATWAVE ???? Have to go for Les's BP check and blood test due to the hospital changing his meds after his pacemaker was fitted. Hid BP seems good to me but best to have the "experts" check.Have either of you had a shingles jab ? It's being recommended on TV for those between 70-79. It's a horrible thing but I thought you weren't at risk unless you'd had chicken pox, which I haven't..........also we discharged Les's careworker....It was getting to be a pain wondering how to fill 2hrs every Mon.& Fri afternoon. The bad weather is almost upon us and who wants to be going for walks when we could be snuggled in an armchair with a good book ? We don't know when or if Les is going to have an episode,it could be months or weeks or longer.Just now,he's OK so we'll carry on regardless.

I have had the shingles jab. I thought I was going to die when I had chicken pox at 36 so they were more than happy to give me the shot. Another warm night, I will need the fan on all night. More showers tomorrow. Ron.

I have not had the shingles jab as my doctor does not recommend it even though I did have chicken pox as a kid. Wet, 6C this weather is seasonal, but it hurts after that nice stretch of late summer weather.

The MRI scan came back negative for cancer, it gives me some relief. There is a continued infection going on in the rectal area and they are recommending a round of antibiotics. I am hesitant because this has been going on for over 20 years and so far none of the antibiotic therapies have worked over the years.
Cold, windy and wet 3C.

That's got to be a load off your mind Buff.....as to anti-biotics ,you know best but will it do any harm to try again ? I woul;d have a word with your doc,ask him what he would do....That's a big drop in temp for you eh?
Been to dentist,I go every 6mnth....and since my last visit in April I need 4 fillings !!!! seems like all the chocolate and icecream are working their magic.... sooner I'm off the pred. the better my diet will be she hopes

Negative is good Buff but infection is not good. Carol one of the main things that suffered over my years of immuno-suppression are my teeth. I can't remember how many root canals I've had done . I still have most of my teeth but most of them are dead. I constantly worry about oral cancers developing. Mind you there are a lot of things that will kill me before my teeth. I take my B/p and sugars as well as pulse every morning. B/P and sugars were ok but pulse was only 48. A couple of rainy days over the weekend , temp only 23c today. Ron.

I am weighing the idea of the antibiotics but I have no symptoms other than the rectal bleeding that has gone on for all these years. Antibiotics turn my body inside out with a rough ride. Interesting you mention your teeth Ron, my teeth are the same, many dead ones, the remaining ones are thin and worn. While on treatment with Aza and Cipro my dentist shook his head and said he doesn't understand why he sees my teeth melting before his eyes. All these problems were stabilized after getting off of imunosupresents and antibiotics.
Hard frost this morning, -3C with brilliant cobalt blue skies.

I sometimes need suppositories Buff...Asacol...they do the trick after a week or two....not my favourite pastime though

I am supposed to get a monthly statement for my expenditure thru the myaged carers. I had to ring them to get my August statement. I am not impressed . For a start the $749.00 walker i got is useless, it is too wide and too heavy and it is not what I asked for. I wanted a chair first. I don't like the occupational therapist. I cannot get anything without her approval. With the cost of the OT and the delivery and installation of the chair. What's to install? (just lift it out of the van, install ?????) the walker cost me $1,532 what a ripoff. Cool and overcast today with a top off 23c. Ron.

Frost again last night. I spent the afternoon clearing brush and had a good day of it. One of those days when my body had some energy, I am hoping to do more today. Carol I take mesalamine but as enemas rather than tablet, which is similar to Asacol. I have been on it long term, its not as good as it used to be, but it still keeps me out of the ER. Ron, are there any websites that sell second hand walkers and wheel chairs. Buying new is very expensive, and the problem is those who buy them can least afford it.

16c so far and sunny.....25c in London which is at least 10c warmer than it should be....Parts of Scptland under water
after torrential rain, earthquakes in Afghanistan ,war in Syria/Palastine........not sure about all the scoops regarding UFO sightings so I'll keep an open mind, but maybe this is what they've been waiting for, for us to destroy Earth and ourselves ......

Been a cool day but no rain. Crap day on planet earth if you happen to live in the wrong place. I keep wondering when it will happen that someone who was involved in one of these situations was at the pub the night before and someone offered him a cheap nuke and of course he had to use it. I wonder if that will be the epitaph of this planet. Ron.

Agree Ron.....the world is so full of fools it's terrifying...all we can do is be glad we're in our Autumn years and hope when IT comes we go together and quickly. and don't put your spare cash into stocks and shares

The conversation has been the same with friends and family, we all agree that life at this time is better for us seniors. I believe that the time and age we are presently in is the worst and most difficult times to be alive. If I were to be able to pick my time, I would have lived 30,000 years ago in the nomadic age long before borders were drawn and game was plentiful.

Gone are the days when I would go for a drive for pleasure, Our fuel has been around $2.20 to $2.40 a litre for months now. Clear and sunny today with 24c max. Ron.

I haven't been on this thread in ages. It's quite warm here (Utah, USA) for this time of year, about 77°f, or 25°c. We still go for rides for pleasure, but really shouldn't. Dang gas prices and, well, everything else.

Bufford, I think everyone is being taken for a ride, so to speak. Ugh. This world. Ron, both Doug and are are both doing as best we can considering we both have multiple medical issues. I'm sure you all relate to dealing with med issues.;)
As for the weather, it has cooled down a bit, it's rainy for the next couple of days and around 50°f (10°c) for the high temp. I kinda like it like this.

Yes mate Life has become less life and more long term survival. I have been a little slow over the past few months after I fell down ten concrete stairs. I surprised all of my doctors by surviving. It probably knocked another ten % off my already diminished ability to get around. But life goes on ,Hugs Ron.

Don't give up your day job. I wont be doing much tomorrow, I have a recliner being delivered. It is a manual but it is very comfortable and it will do till myaged care funds can afford an electrical one. It only cost $199.00. I can send my current one back to the lady that loaned it to me. She and her husband are moving to central NSW so she will want the chair back. Suits me as I hate borrowing. Ron.

Living with undiagnosed chrons was survival, yet it was the norm because I knew of no life different. Then came the promise of better with retirement, that 'different' was nothing but a figment of my imagination. All one can do is cope with it and carry on. Gray, and damp, 7C

Sunny and 26c. Very severe fire danger in NW/ NSW with complete fire bans and schools closed. When I was working Buff at least life had a routine ,with retirement that has all gone. At least I had the intelligence to retire before my health started impacting my ability to work without error,Ron.

12c bright and sparkley......but condensation on the bottom of the windows after a cold night....and so it begins.
But considering the state of the world I'm not going to whinge about a bit of moisture on the windows..
Enjoy your recliner Ron.The trouble with ours (or not) is I've lost the ability to "sit up properly" as me mam used to keep telling me.
