What is YOUR weather like today??

It rained on the way to my cardiologit's office today in Salt Lake City (abt 45 minutes away), then rained more on the way home. Then after that it rained 😆 🤣 😂. High was about 50°f again (10°c).

I think I am going to see my cardio guy again. In the past three months my pulse has been bouncing between 65 and 35 beats per minute. I have had arrythmias for years . One holter monitor put me at 11,000 premature atrial and ventrical ectopics a day. Then at one stage i was in hospital for vertigo and two ecg's produced evidence of atrial fib and atrial flutter. I spent two and a half years on warfarin. They haven't been able to reproduce the same result since that so my GP took me off warfarin. I don't think that my sinus node is sending signals at all now so I may be due for a pacemaker. You can send some of that rain my way. We currently have El Nino references in both the pacific and Indian oceans. The average rainfall over Australia in September was 4mm. That is the lowest monthly average ever recorded for Australia. It is getting a little scary. Tere are fires burning everywhere and we are not yet into bushfire season. cheers Ron.

12c and sunny with a fresh breeze which is so much better than warm and muggy....Ron,Les didn't even know he had a problem until his recent trouble and it was only discovered when he had a general overhaul, although he did have a stent fitted 3yrs ago.He had a pacemaker put in in June and feels much better for it,even though he didn't know he needed it. So,if you can,go for it......

7C cloudy, damp. Busy yesterday, I got the truck rustproofed, then took advantage of the lower gasoline prices, 121 per liter, filling jerry cans at First Nations reserve which is about 45 cents cheaper than found at the regular stations. Those prices went back up to normal this morning. The numbness in my right foot has been worse the last couple of days. I was just at the doctor two weeks ago, I'll have to observe it. Hopefully its just a one off. My arrhythmia bothered me yesterday while standing in line at the checkouts, it creeps up when I get tired during a long day. All we can do is carry on until we can't.

You got that right Buff. We could be up to $2.40 a liter by next week. Qld has the highest fuel prices in Australia. My doctor does not want to see me for six months Carol. My carer from Suncoast care wants me to get a new doctor. She does not like the fact that he is doing nothing about my low pulse. It is a bit scary watching it go from 70bpm on my pulse meter down to 33bpm in two minutes. I think I may have to annoy my doctor next week as my oxy saturation is also dropping from 97 to 92. it is warming up here, 33c yesterday ,32c today and 34 c by next week. Ron.

It seems a few of us on the "weather" thread have heart problems or a spouse with heart problems. I've got heart failure and pulmonary hypertension (the connection between heart and lungs, not just regular hypertension) and I've had a small heart attack somewhere in the past couple of years. I don't know specifically when because if I went to the ER every time I had chest pain, I'd be there half the time. 😁 (PEs caused a little lung damage a few years ago, and I get chest pain from that.) At any rate, I feel blessed to have the cardio team I have. World class cardiologist with a team that are all excellent in my book (even if they just put me back on a diuretic, lol).
I did a little research to compare our gas/petro prices to yours Ron . It seems you're a little higher than ours, but not much. I had to convert liters to gallons then compare your dollar to ours. Utah's gas prices are higher than much of the US, which I don't get since we have several refineries here. Gas prices in California are always outrageous though. I hope the wildfires stay way away from you and yours, and your summer isn't too hot. We just went thru a several year drought with our reservoirs and lakes being dangerously low, but we were blessed last winter with the best winter we could have for our conditions (too much snow would have brought horrible floods last spring, we did have some, but more help than hurt with the moisture.) All indicators say we'll have another good winter.
I'm rambling.
Tomorrow we get a solar eclipse in our neck of the woods, but I'll prob sleep through it. I just don't do mornings. 🌄 :ROFLMAO: g'night all, it's almost midnight here.

Another nice day, cool and sparkley......and oh,deep joy,our town square and main street has the Xmas lights up on the lamp posts !!! It's really pit me in the for the festive season.NOT !!! although not yet lit up although I don't go out at night so it's hard to tell.

 I wouldn't like that either. Too early.

I'm awake in time for the eclipse but it's too overcast to see anything here today. High will be near 64°f, or 17°c. I think I'll go back to bed. Zzzzz

I don't do mornings either Sandy, I'd rather catch some good sleep than wake up to the wet and cold of the morning, and take advantage of the peaceful evenings instead. The eclipse doesn't start until 10:30 this morning. I usually nap around 11 so I don't know how much I'll see, and its a small one at this location. Ron fire the doctor and get someone else. If a doctor is ignoring the symptoms you have then he's useless to you and the world.
5C Mainly cloudy and damp.

I love mornings. My greatest peace in life was being in my boat thirty miles out at sea and seeing the first sliver of gold of the sunrise coming out of the ocean. The magic never lessened no matter how many times I saw it.
Buff we are finding it harder and harder to just find a doctor where i live let alone a good one. My doctor is very good. At nearly every appointment he has a trainee doctor present. My nephrologist said that i would be hard pressed to find a better GP than the one i see. His problem is that he is so busy, it usually is a months wait before I can get into see him. He has already told me that I have too many problems and that I am a 73 yr old living in the body of an 85 yr old and that things like falling down flights of stairs just makes the problems worse. Lately I have found that I have to be my own salvation. The cinnamon capsuals I have been making and taking have made remarkable progress with my insulin resistance and the tumeric and pepper capsuals I have been taking for a month seem to be having some impact on my arthritis and inflamation. I have been told the longer I am on it the better I will get. I use meta-mucil every day and It has helped my stomache problems. I just have to find out what helps a flakey pulse. Ron.

Another bright sparkley day with a chill breeze. We had our daily walk and count ourselves very lucky to live so close to the sea and river with three beaches and a mile long pier at the mouth of the river with a 10th century castle / priory perched on the cliff top.We can walk into town /docs/pharmacy/ shops in 10-15mins dependind on which way the wind blows hahaha....but more and more we are glad to get back home to settle in the recliners,Les having a nap and me with a book.
Ron,Scott had a drama yesterday when a parrot landed on the power line outside his house. There was a flash and a puff of smoke and when it fell (the bird) it started a fire in the shrubbery.Good job he was home and it all got sorted pretty quickly.
He said the snake population are out and about too, due to the rise in temps...Me,I was more than happy to see a fox on a mission wandering down the street at 2-30 yesterday morning...

Its interesting our perspective of things. Ron, my favorite moments were canoe camping trips. After supper I would go out on the lake in the canoe to enjoy the sunsets, and the rising of the moon and stars. If I was lucky the northern lights would put on a show later in the night. They were like curtains of light, green/blue waving about overhead while sitting around the campfire. I miss those times, I would be totally at ease and one with nature.
That is a good pic of the eclipse Sandy, our eclipse was much smaller, the sun looked like a cookie with a small bite taken from it and I slept through the first half of it.
I tried out the george foreman grill this morning, and it works well for making bacon and eggs. Easy to clean, which is the main reason I got it. We are having a power outage, and these small appliances work well with the generator.
5C Gray.

Buff where I live is pretty much right on the coast. From midday every day we get a 15-20 knot breeze off the sea. Trying to get out to sea in a boat was anything but comfortable or relaxing. Most of my offshore trips involved going out before first light and getting home just after lunchtime. I put most of my damage to my spine and limbs to the belting I received offshore travelling in not so good conditions. Mind you I would still be doing it if I could. Carol It's sad but true that in Australia even the parrots are pyromaniacs . The only good side is that they might fall on a snake. A great deal of the east coast has extreme fire danger with very gusty winds. There have been a lot of grass fires this year and they are very dangerous and fast moving. 33c today,Ron.

13C feels like 7 dull and windy and just had a bracing swim in the sea , I have been told that open sea swimming is good for back pain and BP , but it was COLD this morning even in a wet suit , rain on the way over the next week so that should be fun ,
I hear you about the teeth Ron , have had a lot of trouble with mine over the years

I know what you mean about swimming in the cold Tony, I used to go diving at green cape on the NSW-Vic border in winter. Five minutes without a hood and you had no Idea which way was up. There was always some tough guy being pulled out onto the rocks because they thought you didn't need a hood. They rarely went again it scared them that bad. Fortunately everyone used the buddy system and never dove alone. I sure miss those days. We sure ate some beautiful fresh seafood. Nowdays I nearly puke eating some of the supermarket offerings of supposedly fresh fish. None of it even comes from Australia. Cheers Ron.

I get my fish, particularly salmon from the locals who commercially fish lake Superior, the fresh salmon makes the imported fish from the east and west coast taste old and tired. The best fish are the ones I catch ice fishing, they don't come any fresher than that. I don't do much in the way of ice fishing anymore as I get cold easily. Standing around ice fishing is a quick way get cold fast, when we do we put a fire on by the shore.
Mainly cloudy 4C.

We're a little deprived here in Utah, no fresh actual seafood, because there is no ocean any where near us. (It's about 1,200 k, or 750 miles to drive there.) We do have plenty of fish like tasty trout, kokanee salmon, etc. in our lakes and reservoirs though.
The weather is way warmer than usual for this time of year here today, we'll have a high of about 77°f or 25°c.

Lots of fires burning in NSW and Southern Qld overnight. Some properties lost and one property owner burned to death whilst trying to cut firebreaks on his bulldozer near Kempsey in central NSW. There is catastrophic fire danger across the Berkley Tablelands in the northern territory and extreme fire danger in central Qld and the north of Wa. It cooled down in my area overnight and temps have dropped from 33c yesterday to 24c today. Ron.

-1C Frosty and sunny, we havn't seen sunshine in awhile so this will be some needed drying time. I probably should run the wash through and hang it out on the line, who knows when we will get another dry day, we have had a lot of rain not just this fall but since the spring melt.... I went down and got the washing machine going. I seem to have some energy today, yesterday was a slow one.

sunny and blustery and not a bad day...Babet is still on the way for Thur. and Fri, so we went for the big shop . We really can't complain about the weather in the UK this year so far,so we'll see what winter brings. We've had very little snow for a good few
years , in this part of the UK, here one day, gone the next so it would be a change

Several severe fires burning in Qld and NSW. Several homes destroyed overnight. Numbers lost are still a bit sketchy as firefighters cannot get into some areas yet. Smoke is becoming a serious health hazard in SEQld and those with breathing problems have been told to close windows and doors and keep meds at hand. It is still relatively cool her so far but temps are expected to ramp up and winds to strengthen during the weekend. Authorities have said that two of the Qld fires may burn unchecked for weeks. Ron.

Raining but mild.....But we managed a walk into town before it began...East Scotland is on amber to red warning and people are advised to stay at home as a months worth of rain is expected to fall in 24hrs.We down here are expecting the worst tonight and tomorrow

A horrible day here .....10c which is ok but very wet and windy ( and the weathers not good either )
It's not as bad as It was forecast here, but I expect the news will have some tales to tell.....I know the sea was crashing over the local lighthouse and pier yesterday.Very dramatic but not unusual at this time of year....nights are cutting in,dark at 6-30pm
and the clocks go back an hour next weekend....so time to snuggle down and be thankful we're not living in the Middle East or Ukrain
or anywhwer else that humans and nature are wreaking havoc

Sunny today after a frosty night. I had a rough day yesterday. I felt fine driving in, but about halfway I started feeling faint. The traffic lights were all against me, out of 28 that I counted I only got 4 green lights. I thought I was going to black out in the grocery store, it felt like I was standing still and it was the shopping cart and aisles that were moving. I got home, lit the fire and had a snooze before supper. Lots of work to do before the snows come, but I'll make a light day of it.

Sorry to hear that Buff, It is very scary when your body starts to revolt and you feel like you are losing control. My doc does not want to see me till after Christmas but I don't think I can wait that long. My pulse rate is never over sixty anymore and is usually in the 40's. My O2 levels are still ok but I really think I need to see if I need a pacemaker. Sounds like you might need some urgent medical attention too Mate. Take care. Ron.

I'm glad you haven't blown away, Carol. I got curious yesterday and looked at pics of your town. In my perusing I saw pics of your lighthouse, including an old one during a storm with water crashing behind it. It was quite impressive. Pictures of the pier are quite impressive too, as are pictures of a castle nearby. The oldest buildings we have in Utah are from when pioneer settlers came into the valley in 1847, and old pioneer cabins aren't nearly as impressive.
I have no idea what the weather was outside today. I've stayed indoors with drapes drawn because I didn't want to deal with the world after watching some localish things on YouTube and news about the Middle East. I also didn't feel well because I forgot my heart (and all) meds from last night somehow, which I rarely do, but need to get my heart rate down a little now. With meds, my heart rate is usually good, but I do struggle with oxygen levels at times, I'm seldom above the low 90s, but I do live at a much higher altitude than most of you.
I'm praying for fires (fires are so scary) to go out, that you're not so dizzy Buff, and your heart rate doesn't go too low Ron. I hope everything goes well for all upcoming doctor appointments for all.

Please don't ignore that Buff,a quick check up might put your mind at rest

No change still wet and windy....the sea was so rough yesterday that waves of 150 ft + wipe the dome clean off
the south pier....Sandy glad you caught up with our historic town,we tend to take it for granted sometimes....Tony,we get cruise liners in the Tyne all summer long, another thing we take for granted,we also have daily ferries to and from Holland and Nissan sends a ship load of motors to the continent regularly.......and of course we have the fishing fleet, although not as many as back in the day,,,the fish processing shops are nearly all cafes etc. although we can still buy fresh fish etc,but goodness knows how long for

Beerwah a smallish town 40 kliks to the south of me had to be evacuated today because of a fierce fast moving bushfire. They had six water bombing aircraft working on it at least six ground fire crews. They did a good job and no homes or people have been lost so far. I have no doubt it will spring up again tomorrow with strong winds again. If I was 30 years younger I would join one of the bush fire brigades, now I stay clear of fires and the water. It is getting hotter ,up to 35 in the next few days. I will have enough problems just surviving that. Ron. Stay well everyone.

That's entirely too close Ron. Stay safe.

Yes Sandy I worry about fires. I live at the base of an old volcano called Panorama . The slope above me is Koala national park. There are virtually no koalas there any more ,they were all chased away by wild dogs in the 1960's. The trouble it is all natural bush and it would take very little for it to all go up. It is 34 c today with dry and brisk NW winds. Ron.

beautiful morning and early afternoon , bright and crisp , 9C when I went in for another swim in the freezing sea , supposed to be good for building up your core but I'm still to be convinced , great to be near water Carol , always something to watch no matter the weather

It's a beautiful crisp fall sunny Sunday here. Unfortunately, I'm going to have take the rest of the day off and rest my tummy which has given me problems since I last interacted here, and I'm not the one in our household with an IBD. I've had my share of gastro problems, it feels like to me, though I'm sure all of you are laughing at that statement with all you have to deal with when I say I have a sore gut. But I'm sure you empathize also.

The high today is at least 20°f cooler than the last several days, a high of about 50°f, or 10°c. It's my kind of day weather wise. The next few days should be getting cooler still. 😎

There are three out of control fires in central NSW.The biggest problem with them is that the temps there are predicted to hit 40c by mid week. We still have a couple of fires burning in Qld and there is a bad fire in Perth in WA. We have the first cyclone of the season in the Pacific just off Vanuatu. They are not sure which direction it will head after passing over that island so it will be wait and see. Ron.

11c and a really lovely morning after a chilly start. Had a walk down to the river / mouth, and we could debris etc floating from upriver after the heavy rain and wind at the weekend. There's also debris, pebbles and lots of sand on the walkway after the high tides have crashed ashore.Lots of dog walkers, cyclists, kids on half term break and of course the old and decrepit (us two) making the most of a nice day...... more wet and windy on the way......I took the last of the pred. this morning so hoping my chipmunk cheeks go down real soon.

That's brilliant that you have finished the pred

Heavy frost this morning, -5C. Sunny, I made a big breakfast and want to get more done outside before the snow flies. More firewood, a burn't out headlight on the truck, which means removing the battery to gain acess. The snowmobiles need to be checked over, which should have been done back in the summer.

I noticed that yesterday's post was still in the preview window, it goes to show how attentive I am first thing after breakfast. I seem to be feeling more energetic again, but I know how these cycles of good and bad health roll by. I'll take the good before the bad comes around again. I got the bulb into the truck without disconnecting the battery. Its a wet day after a couple of sunny ones, as we are expected to see a pattern change that will bring some snow into the region later in the week. 5C gray with showers.

The contrast our bodies receive from the effects of temperature range is supposed to boost and stimulate our bodies; improving circulation, metabolism and energy levels. While I don't jump into cold water, I do like walking around on the deck barefoot when we have some fresh snow and the temperature of the house is warm from the wood heating on a winter evening. Doing this can help with pain, particularly back pain, and just feels good all over. But only do this when the house is warm.

We don't really get that cold in tropical Qld but a few years ago I went fishing one night on the Maroochy river . It got cold and before long I could not think straight. I got back to the boat ramp. I could not co-ordinate my body to get the boat on the trailer. I got into the ute and turned it on and put the heater on full. I must have passed out for ten minutes. When I woke up i was mostly warm and got the boat on which I found incredibly difficult even with an electric winch. Now I avoid the cold. It is very hot ,over 30c all week. There are several bad fires burning up on the Darling downs to the west of me with houses and property losses. The fire to the south of me is under control but not out. The cyclone out at Vanuatu has reached cat 5 and is hitting the islands today. Three major fires are still burning in NSW. Authorities said the water bombers are doing a good job but they find that they rarely put the fires out but they do give the firies the ability to steer the fires away from homes and structures. Ron.

11c and a wee bit damp but bearable and at least there's no wind, not even a breeze.
Had a walk into town for a few bits.We are definately getting slower in our old age. I can't believe how quickly age has crept up and made such a difference to us.Les has had four serious health problems in four years and of course it's made a difference, but I feel much the same mentally as I always have .I just cannot believe I've reached old age so suddenly....it's come as quite a surprise and not a pleasant one.....but as I've said before I wouldn't want to be young and starting out rhat's for sure.

7C wet. I fully agree with you Carol, being retired despite living with worn and broken parts is easier when one can live at one's own pace. I sometimes wonder how I made it through life. The worst part about being younger was gaining respect while making the next mortgage payment, back then we had it coming from all directions and for the most part it wasn't easy.
Ron, I remember some of those day trips in the canoe ending well after midnight freezing cold sitting in the truck with the heater on after a long journey in the dark. During the day, it was all too tempting to go further down the lake, but often the return trip ended up after dark. I wanted to get the most out of my days off.

Around 45 separate fires burning in Qld overnight. Several homes have been lost in the Darling downs fires and one person has been found deceased. We may get a reprieve on Friday with some rain and cooler temps. It is 17c-32c today , on Friday it will be 14c-19c. I went to bed with a sheet and the fan on. I had to get up at 1.30am as my legs were cramping. I had to turn the fan off and put a light blanket on. I was not feeling well so I checked my blood sugars. at 10.30 when I went to bed they were7.8 by 1.30 am they had dropped to 4.6. I had not taken any diabetes meds in the evening I take them in the morning. When I got up this morning they were 4.3. I did not take any diabetes meds this morning. It is like walking a tightrope. I think that getting cold in bed last night probably burned up my glucose reserves. I will go into town this morning and have a good lunch. Ron.

Fires are still out of control particularly up at Lara on the darling downs where 16 homes have been lost and two deaths. Vanuatu has received a lot of damage and water contamination after being hit by a cat5 cyclone. full damage will be known after the affected area becomes more accessible . Warm conditions today with severe storms this afternoon and a cold change overnight. Ron.

There's one thing about this thread....we all have something to moan about no matter what time of year it is or what part of the world we live in....but at least here on the North East coast of the UK we don't have too much to worry about.....
10c and still damp...off to the dentist for the first of four appts.....I wouldn't care if I didn't look after my teeth,I've been going to the same dentist since 1991 and go every 6mnth for check ups !!! crohns maybe ? I think one of you mentioned that a short while ago....

Immuno-suppression does nothing for teeth, particularly. One tiny infection and the tooth develops an abscess., then a root canal then a dead crumbling tooth. I have a mouth full of them. The fires over here are a crap fight at the moment. They hoped that storms this evening would damp the fires down ,instead dry lightning started ten more fires. A lot of people on the west of the downs at Tara and Millmerran have had to evacuate their homes. The home loss stands at 16 but that's only because the authorities cannot get into areas to check. Ron.

Treatments wreaked havoc to my teeth, while on AZA my dentist shook his head saying I don't know whats going on but your teeth are dissolving before my eyes. Like Ron, my mouth is full of dead teeth and I don't bother going anymore to the dentist. Having stopped chrons treatments both my body and my teeth are better for it despite the damage already done.
I got both the flu and covid shots done, one for each arm, restocked the pantry and ready for snow to come. 0C with some slush on the deck.

Oh my, there is a lot to moan about, isn't there? Across the country from us (about as far as you can get from us in the US) there was another mass shooting in Maine at two places in a town: a bowling alley, and a bar and grille. 18 are confirmed dead, many injured and the shooter on the run and not found with a massive man hunt underway. Very scary for that area at the moment with all businesses and schools closed to keep the public at large safe. I really, really, really wish they would get some gun control laws passed here, especially with regard to assault style weapons, which this guy was using. There is no reason for the general public to be able to have access to them. We also need to find a way to help the mental health of our people better.
My rant for the day. And I won't even go into the cost of meds here, except to say they're bankrupting us.
The weather fits my mood. It's close to freezing today, quite overcast, and we just had a cold rain this morning, with snow up on the benches of the mountains. Very gloomy.

Drastic fire weather warnings remain the norm for much of Australia. The latest reports from Tara on the darling downs put the home losses at 32 and deaths at 2. Some fires don't even get any publicity because of no human habitation. A fire has been burning un restrained in Carnarvon gorge national park for over a month. It currently is burning on a 500 kilometer front. The loss of native wild life will be terrible. Slightly cooler today but the strong SE winds will not help with fire control. Ron.

Oh my,that's so worrying and sad.500ks is mind blowing as far as uncontrollable fire is concerned. Or any thing else that's life threatening...10c and still damp here...dentist appt. went ok.....3 more to go, Then I'll be smiling at everybody.... NOT !!! actually,no one would know I have dental probs as they look good, and as you all know I never complain about anything.... only because most people don't have the time to listen to me

We got an unexpected drop of rain at lunch time today. Yesterday they predicted there was zero chance of rain today. Well they have not ruined their reputation .It is much cooler today around 8c down on yesterday but it won't last. I reckon my health has dropped around 30% since the start of spring. The past few days I have been taking stemitil to stave off a vertigo attack. I don't know if I would survive a serious bout of vertigo at the moment the way my heart is running like a two bob watch. What will be will be. Ron.

We had freezing rain overnight as the storm curved and drove north. There is a coating of ice on everything. I am getting concerned about my wood delivery as it is getting late. We are facing firewood shortages as decades of clear cut logging and unsustainable forestry has made fuel wood both expensive and harder to get. With our government so fixated on making climate change profitable the cheapest furnace oil I can find I must pump and haul myself at first nations for $1.70 which works out to $6.42 per gallon, and prices rise as winter progresses. My sister gets delivery and pays over $2.00 per liter. I would go broke heating with oil or anything else other than wood. Heating season goes on for more than 8 months of the year.

Please don't have any more falls Ron....I know it was accidental, but please think before you stumble again...

Carol unfortunately clear thinking and vertigo rarely go hand in hand. Much cooler day today with overcast conditions. At least it may help to get some of the fires under control. The way it is going all of the firefighters are going to be burned out before the regular fire season starts. It is no wonder it is getting harder to find volunteers every year. Ron.

Ron, I can't imagine being at the start of fire season with the problems your area already has. I hope the cooler weather and moisture help, and winds don't blow up more problems. As for your vertigo, could it be an inner ear problem? I've had both dizziness from heart issues at times, but my vertigo, where the room feels like it's spinning, I just found out is from a condition called benign positional vertigo, which thankfully is indeed a benign condition. I hope that's all yours is, though it can be very annoying. And falls are not good. At all. And varying and low heart rate doesn't help.
Bufford, I hope your firewood delivery comes soon. I can't imagine being without a source of heat, or worrying about getting it in time. All of the houses around here use natural gas (or some electric heaters), for heat, and during most of the winter we're not even allowed to use wood burning stoves or fireplaces because of the pollution they cause (unless one doesn't have any other heat source, which is very rare.) It's all based on the particulate levels in the air whether we have a "green air day" (one in which we're allowed to use fireplaces, etc.) Because we're surrounded by large mountains, it holds the pollution in, especially in winter months, and we can end up with some bad inversions (the pollution being held in).
Carol, I'm glad you're getting your dental work done, but sorry you have to do so. It really pays to do what you can to keep your teeth in the best shape you can. But when health causes problems, ugh! As you all know. Hugs.
The good thing here is Doug may have found, through hard work and hours of searching, some programs to help pay for some of our most expensive medications.
I'm much, much happier today.
I don't know how warm it got today, but right now it's a chilly 33°f, or 0°c. It is almost midnight, however. With that, I'm off to bed. G'night all!

I am lucky with heating, I don't need a heater even on the worst winters day inside the flat it is always around 18c. A one jumper day and a one blanket night. My vertigo is supposedly calcium crystals in my inner ear. None of their manipulations have ever helped and it has put me in hospital several times. last bad attack affected me so badly they dxed me with atrial Fib and atrial flutter . I finished up on warfarin for a couple of years. Now i always carry stemitil on me and at the first sign of trouble I take a tablet a lay down. They have never been able to find atrial fib since so I am no longer on warfarin but I do take 3000 mg of fish oil every day to keep my blood thin.Ron.

very little change in the weather here....10c and grey but no wind which makes a huge difference....we had a nice walk down to the quay, lots of people about, and traffic of course..Heaps of debris and driftwood washed ashore after last weekends storm.
I love driftwood...every thing has a story, even the old car tyres etc. have a tale to tell

I called the driver who hauls wood. He is behind schedule after dealing with a break down, but he is back on the road and estimates my delivery for sometime next week. The window is closing fast, once the snow comes he will not be able to come here until after the spring melt and when half load limits on the roads end. Meaning delivery could not be made until june of next year. This would put me behind as I do most of my work early in the spring when there is still snow on the ground. Oil is my best alternative when I need back up heat, I can haul it myself whenever I need to top up. Propane is very nice, but it requires delivery, which would mean paying a lot for snow removal service. Electric heat makes oil look cheap even at these prices, few people use it except when there is nothing else available.
-5C with flurries and a dusting of snow on the ground.

Ron, I apparently have the same inner ear condition as you, but mine is not nearly as bad and I haven't had the Epley's maneuvers done yet. I can't imagine it being so bad it put you in a hospital a couple times. Ugh!
Bufford, I sure hope you get your wood delivery soon. Carol, I'm glad you can still go out on your walks. That's so healthy for you, both physically, and emotionally. And I love driftwood too, and yes the stories it all could tell!
It's our Ute (American college football) game day here in an hour or so. Doug can do nothing but talk football on these days, and he and his brother in Nevada sit and text each other during the games to compare notes on who should have done what on the field, which official made a bad call or should have made a call, etc. He's obsessed. I'm a fan, but not to the degree he is. We have our former foster kiddo (who just turned 40, yikes!) with us today so it will be more fun than usual to watch, and hopefully win, but we have a fierce opponent this time.
Hope everyone has a winning day on this thread.

fires burning everywhere across Qld with properties being lost everyday. There is a total fire ban in my area now so i hope everyone abides by the rules and we don't have any accidents or deliberate acts. Cool and cloudy today. take care all, Ron.

You deserve a win Sandy.I mean let's face you're not having much luck anywhere else ;);););)
It's an awful wet miserable day here so we won't be going far....Les is giving the carpets a good vacuum as they're being professionally cleaned tomorrow..I've scrubbed the bathroom and kitchen floors on my hands and knees instead of the usual mop and I don't mind admitting it almost did me in. Just goes to show what I was saying the other day,,,,old and decrepit body but a mind which thinks I'm 20.......or even 60 would do...Buff,how the heck you do all that firewood prep. is amazing so let's know your secret..
I'm asking for a friend you understand and I know Sandy would like to know too (y)(y)(y)......On a more serious note TRYSHA please let us know you're OK. Sending hugs it they'll help xx

Feels like winter is making its appearance, it went down to -7C last night and yesterday it did not rise above -2C A dusting of snow on everything. Good weather for working outside, maybe I will get something done this afternoon. Carol, its getting to the point that I am using all my time and spare time working on the firewood effort. I started in April, and stopped in June, before picking it up again in the latter part of August and I am still at it. I only work for two hours at most and often less per day. I consider it my part time job where I am boss and work from home. The payback is pretty decent; saving me at least $5000 or more, and providing me with a warm house.

Over 40 homes lost now in the fires up on the downs and 70 fires burning in various areas of the state. 29c today and up to 35c tomorrow with strong hot NW winds. At the moment Vic and Tasmania have a bit of a reprieve with rain and even snow in both states . Crazy country Ron.

our clocks went back yesterday....I'm still up and at 'em at stupid o' clock...this has been happening since January which began with toilet trips and has never stopped despite all the meds and recent steroids..I don't really mind too much, but the cold mornings are a bugger. All I want to do is snuggle under the duvet. It's dark at 6pm and is just getting light now at 7am.This of course will continue to change until the winter solstice in December. After yesterdays athletical floor scrubbing etc. I have aches and pains where I had forgotten I had places ,which are easing off a bit with an early morning dose of pain med.......a good start to the day. It's 7c and not as damp as it'd been this last week but storm Cairin is on it's way for the second half of the week so I'll get wet on the way to my 2nd dental appt.....us poor oldies take some maintenance eh ????

Take care Carol. I am starting to seriously wonder if steroids ever help anything or do they just cause ten more problems. When I was having chemo they had me on dexamethasone and that was ten times worse than the occasional bout of nausea. To be honest one of the least invasive and effective things I have taken for my colon is Meta-mucil. It is not as harsh as the questran and does not cause constipation. Ron.

I have given up treatments and most of the medications they offer. All too often the side effects are worse than the underlying condition. Side effects are the body's way of saying STOP! Doctor's may disagree, but after my experience(s) I believe doctors over prescribe the chemicals, and under prescribe pain relief. There is a lot of politics going on between the doctor's office and the medicine cabinet. I have done far better by cutting back the medications to the bare minimum and pay attention to diet and lifestyle.
-7C Partly cloudy.

10c and sunny...carpets are sweet smelling and clean but being just the two of us,they weren't scruffy.Being a female,I just felt they needed a shampoo, although I expect this will be the last time ever....Then we had a short walk around the park before the storm kicks off on Wednesday.Buff I agree re: pain meds and chemicals,Like Ron said a while back " if I was going to overdose I would have done it before now"or something like that...As to the steroids Ron, I really didn't want them again but my inflammation level was sky high and I was expecting to get Les home from his adventures in ward 20.....they did clear it up,but at what cost ?

Nearly 80 fires burning out of control in the state. Homes destroyed now stands at 58, deaths remain at two. Fire fighting teams arriving from Victoria and New Zealand. Temps 35c to 40c for the SE of the state and gusty hot NW winds and hundreds of people evacuated. My main concern is the forecast of dry electrical storms this afternoon. I jokingly call my suburb lightning ridge and if we get a heat storm this afternoon the whole place could go up in flames. Carol my brother has had a flare in his ulcerative colitis in the last twelve months. It started with a complete prolapse and he has not gotten over the surgery to fix that. He takes sulfasalazine every day and is frequently using prednisone suppositories. Nothing seems to be working. My diabetes drugs are not working and I am achieving better control with my home made cinnamon capsules. panadol does not relieve my pain and my pulse varies between 60bpm and 31bpm. I don't think that that is a genuine reading but it now seems like my heartbeat is generated by everything except the sinus node which is supposed to control heart beat. Ron.

I hope the lightning storm passed without bringing you grief Ron...It's must be a real worry for you what with ill health etc.....word to the wise...keep the motor topped up with all it needs to get you away and keep your bag packed ,not forgetting your meds.Hopefully the prep.wont be needed buy why take the risk ??? Oh, and I would dig up that gold from the back of the house and weigh it in so that you can afford somewhere nice on the coast, should you need it. Or a yacht, with crew,I know you're not fussy !!!
A chilly 7c here,but dry.

-10C Its been steady cold of late, the ground is freezing up with flurries in the air. I had a serious heart flutter episode at breakfast, I could not even pick up the heart monitor I was so weak and I could not get warm. Lay in the chair until it past and slept for a couple of hours. I have not had one that serious in about 3 years. I hope you get some rains soon Ron. I think it's time for me to get up and move around a bit.

If I could just remember where I put it Carol, mind you I don't think two gold fillings will get me far. Please take care Buff. Put the ambulance number on speed dial. The storms passed south of me Carol but i think they may have started two new fires near the border. There are two new fires overnight just north of Nambour where I live. checked outside before I went to be last night. The wind was from the N/W and there was a strong smell of smoke and fire in the air.Ron.

Wet again....book day methinks.

Buff, that must have been scarey for you.No matter how tough you guys were back in the day,you must be sensible !!!!
I worry more now because of Les's last health scare. If I need to go into hospital or worse,he'll have to go into care. And Like both of you , that's not what he had in mind for his retirement. So please LOOK AFTER YOURSELVES !!!

When this happened yesterday, just as with the other heart events I had no fears at all. Rather a general feeling of frustration of getting the heart to reset itself. Not that much different than troubleshooting equipment at work. I got nothing done, despite the good weather. Today I feel pretty good, and will get a few things done. Ron, when we get dry spells with high winds I have trouble getting sleep, all it takes is a spark from the power lines. I wish the electric utility would shut the power down when winds are high and we are under fire bans. Many fires start this way. No worry about bush fires now, -7C mainly sunny.

Some slightly cooler and less windy weather has helped with the fires but there are still 80 fires burning from the Qld NSW border to central Qld. More homes and lot of stock has been lost. We had a storm overnight but the amount of rain that fell would not have extinguished a candle .It is getting very smokey and my breathing has already started to suffer . I woke up several times last night with low oxygen symptoms . I suppose that the symptom I should worry about most is not waking up. Ron.

Storm Cairan arrived with a vengeance last night but it's a lot worse in the South than here,,,,here it's just VERY wet and windy and although 10c feels a lot colder. Off to the dentists this pm for appt. no.2. It's only 10-15min walk so it's not worth the faff of a taxi so will battle the weather and feel smug...

17c-27c today almost back to normal spring conditions, pity about all the smoke and fires. I really don't know how bad it will get when it is summer. There probably won't be a native animal left in Australia. There was a shark attack in SA two days ago . They have searched for the two days but they cannot find anything of the guy. It was a 4.5 m great white and they don't leave much. sad for the family. Ron.

Its been quiet weather around here, but colder than normal. Ice is forming on the smaller lakes and the ground is starting to freeze. Did some light chores yesterday. I wouldn't swim in the ocean in areas known for sharks, its quite apparent by the numbers that sharks have a taste for humans, not unlike we have a taste for juicy burgers. -3 with a flurry.

not a bad day today , mostly dry with some sunshine 10c feels like 4 with the wind , hope you avoid Storm Ciarán Carol , we just missed it here in the south of Ireland , got my first shot of Prolia (osteoporosis) today , hopefully will help strengthen my poor ol bones a bit

I hope the Prolia helps Tony. I was scheduled for bone density tests a few years back but with covid it never happened. I had previously been dxed with osteopenia so i should try for another scan. Buff the area of the attack was Streaky bay in SA. It is known as a great white breeding ground and also for colonies of Australian for seals. Many of the current bushfires are being brought under control due to cooler and less windy conditions. Back up fire fighters have arrived from Vic and New Zealand, Ron.

I've always been afraid of swimming in the ocean, even when I was a strong swimmer (before small strokes and heart problems) because of sharks. They terrify me. ~shudder~
Tony, I forgot you are from Ireland, that is where my favorite doctor I have ever had is from, my heart doctor, Dr. Ryan. I wish I could share Dr. Ryan's expertise with all here who have heart problems. He's the best.
I also hope your treatment of prolia helps your osteo a lot, Tony.
I hope everyone here stays safe from storms, sharks, fires, chemicals, and more poor health.
It's been quite warm for this time of year, lately, but I'm loving it. We're having highs of around 60°F, or appx 15°C, my kind of weather.

I probably gave sharks around 35 years to have a crack at me but they never had a go and now I don't go in the water, short of a charter boat sinking from under me the sharks have dipped out. All of the fires in my immediate area have either been put out or under complete control and the weather for the next two weeks is good fire control . I'm going to have to see my doctor soon about my pulse problems but I really don't feel like it at the moment. I really don't feel well and I don't think seeing a doctor is going to do much to alter that. Ron.

good news regarding the fired being under control for now Ron,I hope you can breath easier..Please consider a trip to see your doctor. We all know how reluctant we all feel regarding appts, but if you're not well it's daft to ignore it....

10c and not a bad morning,,at least no rain,so we were able to have a walk into town for a few bits...the south of the UK has been hammered by Ciaran and I feel really sorry for them all, especially the older folk, and those who are sick It must be soul destroying to see your home wrecked, maybe not for the first or last time
