No rain here yet,but it's on it's way from the West.....

I was hoping for a walk through the park to the Sunday market,But will have to see.

I wasn't out at all yesterday which is unusual for me. Must try harder Carol !!!

No storm today but bad ones yesterday In Brisbane and down to northern NSW. Unfortunate tourist was struck by lightning whilst surfing with friends at Byron bay. He is in hospital in a critical condition but he has stabilised today. It makes me shudder to even think about it, we often surfed during storms when we were kids.

27c yesterday, pleasant sunny day ,no storms. 26 and sunny today and no storms predicted. Just when it seems like it is safe to come out from under the bed NSW recorded its fourteenth shark attack for the year yesterday afternoon. The surfer received serious wounds to his thigh and is recovering in an induced coma in a Gold coast hospital following surgery. Ron.

Wow, a lot of shark attacks this year. Must be El Nino making them fractious.

Dull but not cold for this time of year. That's about to change though. We're expecting storms this winter due to that old el nino.

Now there is a sentence that would bring joy to the heart of an English teacher. " Must be El Nino making them fractious ". I love the English language it gives you the opportunity to be so creative. Spooky I am in no way being rude I truly loved your very descriptive and accurate depiction of our shark problem. Every so often you read something that makes you smile and that did it for me and I never smile. Ron.

Woke up to a grey rainy day. A pleasant change . I'm not sure that it will last long. The heat is building to the weekend with more storms predicted for Sunday. Ron.

I got the sun shining brightly into my lounge. Omg, my windows are filthy!

Maybe that's why I didn't open my windows today! :rof:
My, it's getting cold here, the actual temp 34°f, "feels like" temp of 24°. How do the weather stations come up with a feels like temp anyway?

Suppose to get in the mid 60's later in the afternoon.

Chillier today, and one very strong gust of wind in Daventry whilst out. Nothing since then. How's it going Carol? If Abigail hits you, you hit her right back.

It's just started to rain.I think Scotland will get the worst of Abigail, but we're not too far from there.Having said that forcasters have been wrong before.:cool2:

Cloudy today, warming up. Rain event predicted with up to 60 mm in the next two days(only for the coastal strip) and a severe storm on sunday. Over on the west coast temps in Perth are expected to go over 35c for the next couple of days. Probably our fate in a week or so. Ron.

Big storm this evening. Some rain ,a lot of lightning but no hail. On the other side of the country Aust and New Zealand are playing a cricket test at the WACA ground in perth. The temp at midday under the cover of the grandstand was 39.4c. The say that the temp close to the playing pitch was close to 46c. The bowlers were wrapping ice towels around their necks between overs. Not looking forward to it drifting our way in a few days. Ron.
Paris is very, very sad!

Amen about Paris.

Very cold but not freezing.Grey skies.

Ron me darlin',how on earth can you stand that heat ??? It's bad enough when you're fit and healthy........ So upsetting re; Paris.Ordinary people enjoying life as they should, then a few minutes of sheer terror, and they are gone. It's just awful and frightening too.Who will be next ???

What the weather and the critters do to us is nature. What happened in Paris is just pure evil terror. I am not into violence or hurting any one. We are subject to illness and disease. We try very hard with medicine to alleviate our suffering. I wish there was a cure for terrorism one that could eradicate the disease. We eradicated smallpox from the world and we appear to be winning against ebola. Perhaps it is time we took the gloves off and eradicated terrorism. Nearly all of the world leaders have said that will stand by France. Do it. Ron.

Here here Ron. With u all the way on this post. Keep safe n well pal 💕

Wonderful wet, windy and very cold day to drive my camper van up from Cornwall. Broke down en route. Took AA 1.5hours to get to me, popped me up on transporter to transport me off the beaten track to a service station. 1.5 hour wait again, none had looked to see what had happened, but I finally got home 12 hours later. Nice AA mechanic turned up at home and I need a spare part. So, it's just as well I didn't force it on or I could have ruined it. Omg, I need my bog mobile.

Nice to be in the warm, despite very autumnal weather outside.
In sympathy with the French. What has Europe come to????

Aw Spooky what a mare with the camper hun .. what has the entire world become its a hell on earth these days. Why cant people just get along for petes sakes. Why fighting etc what ever happened to conversing your problems out ??? I really worry for the future 😕
sending love to all as we need all the love we can get . 💚💛💜💖

We finished up getting three storms over night. South and west of us got it more severe with a lot of wind and hail. Sorry to hear that your trip got ruined by mechanical problems Spook. Isn't it sad that when we get stuck somewhere the first question we ask is 'where is the loo , please!' I can't remember much about the many towns and places I have visited in my life but I remember where the public loos are in every one. Cloudy but fine at the moment but we are expecting another storm this afternoon. Ron.

No storm tonight. Predicted for tomorrow night now. Unfortunately I may be right about warming up during the week. We are expecting 33 c on Thursday. The western suburbs of Brisbane and Ipswich are expecting 37c on Thursday. Not fun. Ron.

Warm night , hard to sleep . Bed was a waste of time. steamy with some showers today. Then clear , sunny and hot for the rest of the week. Third fortnight of the oxycodone reduction. They said I would not enjoy it. I hate it when they are right......Ron.

alternating sun with showers and not too cold. Am feeling for you Ron, I threw my dihyrocodeine out just like that as I couldn't stand the feelings of being addicted to them. It's a rough old time. Stay strong. We're all thinking of you.

Thanks spook I asked about doing that with oxycodone and was given a serious warning about suffering a cardiac arrest in my condition. I know that a couple of times when I was a few hours late with my dose I started shivering and yawning and my nose started running like a tap. I saw my doc today and he suggested perhaps I should even take it slower than 32 weeks . He said unfortunately that because I had been on 80mg for so long my body was totally dependant on it. I am still going to do it over 32 weeks. I just now know what they meant when they said I won't enjoy it. Sitting here at nine thirty at night . It is bucketing down outside. the best non storm rain since winter. It is going to get very steamy by the end of the week with the ground so wet. It is like living in a sauna only there is no ice pool to go and jump into. Ron.

I didn't tell anyone I was going to throw them out. I did it. I was much younger then and coped ok as I knew I would be suffering. I hope the 32 weeks goes fast for you, Ron. Withdrawals can be awful, especially if they can have an impact on your heart. Stay determined. I'd love a proper storm too. We just get the English type of rain.

Low of 25°F, high will be 41°. Also had some high winds. We were told initially we would have a chance is snow, but the storm split in two and went to the north and south, but not here.

It has been quite mild for this time of year.Days in the 50's(F) and low 40's at night.Tonight it is close to freezing for the first time this month.I am happy we have not had snow.We had a few rainstorms that would have buried us if it was snow.

Well the heat is heading east. Alice springs was a tad over 4oc today. We won't get that high but with the humidity it will feel like it. Ipswich and west Brisbane are expecting in the high thirties by Friday . We should reach 32-3c by sat. There is a chance of some storms as the wind will swing to north -north east which means lots of moist air off the coral sea in the afternoons. I might look for someplace cool to hide on Saturday. Ron.

Rain with high winds expected this afternoon/evening. Could be damaging. They normally get it wrong so I expect some leaves to be blown and swirled about. Not too cold either. Weekend and next week should be much colder.

The heat in Western Australia has an aftermath. Bushfires down near Esperance in the South. Four people killed in their cars try to outrun a fire. Tragic, some of the victims my be foreign backpackers , I hope not. If it is correct it is not a phone call I would like to make to someones parents. More out of control bushfires south of Adelaide in South Australia. The whole country needs some rain. I think there is another that has been burning for weeks in an inaccessible part of Tasmania. That's Australia ,cometh the summer ,cometh the heat ,cometh the flames. The east coast will be on alert for the weekend. Very warm where I am today. Ron.

Sounds really bad, Ron. Stay safe.

Sunny at the moment. The hoggies are fine. Two are now over 700g so could poss hibernate in my shed. The other two need to scoff a bit more grub to get there. They're both over 600g though. So successful so far.

wind died down and all is calm but I think the cold is going to come in now.

Oh good heavens.....our son often takes his boys fishing to Esperance.
The whole family have a pitch booked there for over the Christmas hols as they've just bought a caravan.

Good news about the hogs D.,well done !!!:ghug:

Raining up here, looks like it's in for the day.:(

P.S. have you finished unpacking ?

Two massive fires at Esperance carol. Apparently quite a few farms have gone. One of the deaths was a Young married farmer driving around trying to warn others to get out. The reports of the other three so far are three German backpackers. Some very lucky escapes with families driving thru flames to escape. Apparently some of the cars caught fire and the occupants only just made it thru before they had to abandon their burning vehicles. No reports on the damage yet from south Aust but there are out of control fires there as well. Quite a few towns in outback Qld hit 40c today and it looks like Sunday may be slight relief from the heat then up again for the next week. Sadly few of the towns out west have anything left to burn, the drought has been so bad. The fires in WA were all started by wild storms and lightning strikes. It is warm tonight but no sign of storms here. PS I don't think your son will be going anywhere near Esperance at the moment Carol. Hugs Ron.

Thanks Ron,I know he won't take risks with his kids, but in my case ignorance is bliss.I do appreciate your updates though,so don't hold back.At least I can tell him I know what's going on, because he thinks if I don't know I wont worry. As if......it's my job as a parent and grandparent.Take care

Terrible to have to lose your life to fires. tbh, it doesn't shock me that foreigners are a tad naïve of such situations.

Hahaha, no I'm not unpacked yet, Carol. I've not found the moving easy, I shall get it done at some point. Bit more painting and then I can get all my books on my shelves. Then I shall be happy.

Dull now with rain coming. Colder too.

D., if it's been packed this long do you REALLY need it ?:lol2:

The sun's trying very hard to shine, between heavy showers. But it'll be dark in and hour so it might as well save it's energy...:lol2:

All my favourite books are still in boxes. Those I've already parted with quite a lot, can't think for the life of me why I brought it, lol.

It could be a long winter so those you don't get to read again you could have a bonfire with..........I don't mean that of course,I love books and reading.

As long as you're not tripping over them there's no harm.

Dark now of course, and clear skies ,so probably a chilly night.

Oh, that we could have the magical powers of Samantha on Bewitched, then we could stop the bush fires, have painting and unpaking get done, and even change the weather to meet our daily needs.
Today was opening day for the first local ski resort, and although that is not far, we have as yet to see any real snow here. It's a tad warmer than yesterday, but not much.

same here, Mandy. Ah, I had forgotten Samantha on Bewitched. My sister loved that programme, and what a wonderful idea it would be. What a happy planet we would have, lol.

Sadly it didn't help Samantha (Eliizabeth Montgomery ) she passed from colon cancer a few years ago. It was big news on the colon cancer board at the time as she was so well known and her character much loved. Y'know one day I am going to come on with some cheerful news ,I really not into doom and gloom, siiiggghhh. Ron.

The WA fires are just being brought under control. There appears to be a lot of damage and at least four dead. One was a local farmer out trying to warn people and direct them to safety. The other three fatalities were European backpackers . They were trying to save some horses and they appear to have rolled the 4x4 and horse float dodging the fire. There are bad fires in south Australia and Sydney is expecting temps of 40c tomorrow. That always spells trouble for the western suburbs and the blue Mountains just west of Sydney. They will be holding their breath till it cools off a little tho we are not expecting cooler conditions till at least next week.We will reach the mid thirty c's where I live but by afternoon every day we pretty much get a sea breeze to cool things a little. Ron.

I am sorry. Hope things get better.

Another warm day ,we are expecting 32c where I live . There is a relationship between temps and humidity. Apparently the temps do not get as high when the humidity is high. Sydney is expecting 40c today but it is caused by winds off central Australia so low humidity. There is a total fire ban in place for most of the east coast of Australia. Sadly a lot of the most deadly fires in the eastern half of Australia have been deliberately lit over the years. The ones over on the west coast were as a result of lightning strikes , you can't stop that. Very hard to stop pyromaniacs too. I am having problems with my withdrawel from Targin (oxycodone) I could not remember yesterday what tablets I needed to take and when. I felt a bit better this morning so I sat down and wrote up a schedule for what to take and when. I noticed when I was taking my b/p and blood glucose this morning that I appear to have forgotten to do them yesterday. I find that scary. Ron.

It reached 41c in Sydney today. Hottest in our area was out at Birdsville at 42+. Now there is a massive cold front sweeping up the east coast. Sydney will be 23c with rain tomorrow , a drop of nearly 20c overnight. It probably won't get this far north and we may get a slightly cooler day tomorrow then increasing temps all of next week. The note I left myself helped a lot and I took all of my pills for the day. I went back to bed at 1.00 pm and stayed there till six thirty. I probably will not sleep tonight now. That's life, Ron.

Sunshiney day but temp.dropping from 9c mid morning to 5c mid afternoon.

Cloudy now but it will be dark in an hour.

Threats of low (er) temps and wind, with snow on the hills ,tomorrow.
