What is YOUR weather like today??

Crohn's Disease Forum

The little sods chewed a hole through my wooden floor to gain entrance to my place. One I could stand but he/she invited the whole mouse neighbourhood. That is another thing Australia is notorious for , mouse plagues , particularly out on the wheat properties. Sadly I had to resort to chemical warfare but only inside the house then I filled up their entry hole with hot glue. And yes I used a bucket of disinfectant too, I'm sure some of them had crohns'. I finally had to up the number of movicol sachets per day and resort to the dreaded microlax enemas tonight. I wonder if non sufferers really appreciate how lucky they are. My boss always asks how I am going but halfway thru the answer I am always stopped by the scream of "Too much information". Why ask if you really don't want to know:) . Heading for 30c and storms the next two days. My son lives in the Phillipines with his family , fortunately he is in the south. The typhoon hit the north. Ron.

oh ron , my mouse has probably invited the neighbourhood to knowing my luck, if i didnt have bad luck i would have no luck at all lol.. oh well ye us crohnies would get mice with it too goes without saying !!!
aaaaw Ron sorry you are going through this, its horrid mate . N00000000000000 they dont know how bloody lucky they are... and yes why ask , guess they dont really dont want you say anthing other than "ye im ok or well im crap today but thanks for asking"... people eh? take care ron , best wishes x

same weather as yesterday, Stay safe Ron, hope the bush fires go nowhere near yours. Cat sitting is great fun, I just made friends with the blokes next door and he's moving tomorrow, off down to the westcountry very near to where I lived. Apparently the people who are buying have a cat too. We get mice brought to us as presents. lost one in the kitchen once, assumed cat had caught it and eaten it, until I came to do the washing.... opened the draw for the powder and got a shock! There is was staring at me. I have no idea how it got in there, but I managed to grab his tail only for it to come off. The mouse vanished down the pipework. Didn't do washing for a while. Got friends to help me pull it out and search for it. Never did find it. Had to resume washing I'm afraid.

The hogs are smelly! wonder how long I can cope with three smelly hogs in my house. I once saw a youtube video of a mouse plague at a wheat warehouse, omg, that was bad.

Our former dog kept everything critter free, he was a far better mouser than our former four cats. (Yes, a veritable zoo.)
But all critters in our neighborhood have been hiding for a good part of the day, during rainstorms and loud thunder. All is calm now.

That will happen here soon. They hatch during thunder storms over here. One minute no fleas then a thunder storm and up to your armpits in juvenile fleas. It will be a bad season for scrub ticks as well. I am always pulling them off the upstairs cat. She is good and doesn't retaliate when I get a tick off. They kill a lot of cats and dogs over here and they carry some nasty diseases for humans as well. Warming up today 29c tomorrow and 30c Thursday.. Ron.

Wind has turned to the north so the temps will rise today and tomorrow ,with cranky people :). Ron.

Well,it was forecast rain today but it rained during the night.
Today's been a lovely sunny 20c with a light breeze.

They are forecasting a bad winter,so let's hope they're wrong about that too.

Winter "drawers" on Diane, but I expect they already are.....;)

We had crazy winds whip out of the canyons this morning (40-50 mph), but nothing like the infamous wind storm of 2011 with its hurricane force winds that ripped our roof off. All is well. It's a beautiful sunny fall day now.

Hot, 31c today with wild storms predicted for this afternoon. Winds 20 knots nw this morning turning 25 knots south east this afternoon. The strong change will produce some nasty storms. Not much rain but usually strong winds with a chance of hail. Ron.

The wind change came and the north westerlies in front of the trough line produced the expected storms. It was not to bad on the Sunshine coast where I live but a super cell formed over Brisbane and Ipswich and they had strong winds torrential rain and hail. It has become a fact of life in recent years , when certain conditions prevail super cells form instead of the common old garden variety storms. I guess we just have to grin and bear it. Ron.

You're so good with getting ticks of neighbours cat, Ron. Prob she goes away when they have them so she doesn't have to deal with them. yes, watch out for Lyme's disease, Ron. Have you been checked?

Hedgies doing fine, they really are little hogs, they pig out on anything and everything. Not cold today but no sunshine. Don't fancy having my roof blown off at all. Terrifying, Sandy.

There is a ridiculous situation in Australia. The medical profession steadfastly refuse to admit the existence of lymes disease in this country. This is despite people travelling to America to have a diagnoses of the condition confirmed. They just will not admit that it exists nor will they treat it. My boss's husband was bitten on the face ,just above the eye by a scrub tick. He had been out riding his trail bike. His eye swelled up overnight so he went to the doctor. Fortunately he was given a double dose of anti-biotics. Apparently that is the best defence against the bacteria carried by ticks and is the recommended treatment IE. early intervention with anti-biots. They said that they thought he just had an infection. Several days later a halo ring appeared on his hand at the base of his thumb. In America that is considered a symptom of lymes. In South Africa the ticks carry scrub typhus and can cause death. One of my customers who emigrated from SA said she had spent a few days in a coma from typhus and said she was lucky to survive. They don't seem to think that ticks are any more than just another annoying biting insect here. You would think that they would have learned from mosquitos we now have serious problems with Ross river fever ,Barmer forrest fever and Dengue fever from salt water mosquitos. The Dengue is the most dangerous as if you get a second bout it presents with similar symptoms as Ebola with bleeding from most of the bodies orifices. Unless treated early it can be fatal. They have found evidence of malaria mosquitos in the Torres strait islands. Biting insects are bad news. Ron.

Strange that, Ron.Maybe it's because there are so many other things that can kill you in Australia, they can't cope with anymore ???

But when it's common knowledge in the rest of the world why won't they aknowledge it ?
I was bitten by a tick years ago and asked for and received a blood test.Little bugger buried itself into the soft bit on the side of my knee.

8c and grey here today

They really don't like to test it here in the UK, and when they do it doesn't meet the standards of tests carried out in America. They don't like to treat it here either. In the news more recently were some wealthy people who all tested positive for Lyme's. This suggested that it could possibly be transferred somehow from person to person. Scarey.

Cold and grey here today, the weather is similar.

A fine sunny day . Only reached 26c after the front passed thru Thursday. I had a pretty rough week healthwise. I don't work on Fridays so I spent most of the day asleep in bed. Mid to high twenties expected for the coming week . They were expecting some rain and showers but that seems to not be happening now. Typical el nino all show and no go.
I don't know why lymes is so hard to understand. Ticks are really sick little creatures . Their saliva is full of nasty bacteria and they give you a healthy shot of it as an anti-coagulant. Why is it so hard to understand that they make people really sick. Ron.

I hope you're feeling better Ron.I'm glad you had the chance to have a good sleep, you must have needed it.....:dog:

Doug is off and sleeps a lot on Fridays too Ron. I don't know how much is crohn's and medical things, and how much is I wear him out by asking for so much from him.
Today was a high of 61, low of 42f. Typical fall day.

Sandy I don't think you asking anything of Doug will make him feel bad, wanted yes , bad no. Remember I have lived alone for nearly ten years and it has been all downhill. I think that being able to share stuff is the greatest gift marriage can give you. It's just the rest of that crap that life gives us that is so unfair. On the weather front the rain that was supposed to happen then wasn't going to happen up and happened anyway . I got up this morning and it was raining. I am about to go to bed and it is still raining. Just drizzly stuff but enough to wet things. It's nice, Ron.

It's rainy and cold! This type of weather makes me so lazy hahah. There are trees flying everywhere because of the wind. The seagulls went crazy again and keep flying around like they're lost or something.

It's sad when you have to look on your weather app to sew what it is doing outside instead of actually going outside. Today is similar to yesterday, and similar to Ronrush.
Thank you for your kind words Ron50, but I'm sure i wear Doug out (but at the same time I think we both feel wanted. I/we are blessed).
Welcome, Rita, may this forum always be a warm, sunny place for you.

you know it's always sunny here when us awesome dudes are around Sandy, just because we are so darn awesome :dusty::drink: :poo: oops or is the last 1 just what happens to me when i drink !!:rof:
oooooooh think i forgot to say its dark n 45 degrees here

Mandy, I think you ought to mention it's 45oC, just in case someone thinks we're having a glorious Indian Summer. We're not.

Rita, was thinking about a holiday in Portugal or Spain just to help the Raynauds and Joints along. I'm not sure Portugal is experiencing what I had imagined.

The weather changes from city to city, so I can't really tell how it is somewhere else. I'm really sensitive to the cold so for me it's cold all the time, but the weather varies from time to time. During the morning is cold but then it get warm and finally gets cold at night.

It's currently 61ºF, for me it's cold, for you I don't know hahah.

Hi Rita, welcome . I made a wonderful friend ,Pepe, on the colon cancer survivors board. He lived in Barcelona. It saddened a lot of people when we lost him last year. I have spent all of my life in the southern hemisphere and apart from some tiny reefs and Islands in the coral sea have never ventured out of Australia. The girls here razz me a lot about all of the deadly critters downunder. Perhaps all of those deadly critters are just as scared of me. Stay safe and beware of crazy seagulls :) Ron.

Sunny but a bit chilly. RON u know those critters are mighty scared of you mate !!! Sorry to hear you lost your friend Ron :( .take care love .
much love to all x

Grey and cold, but no rain or wind so it's ok.
Had a brisk 40min walk and worked up a sweat.....but you didn't want to know that ,did you ???

Welcome Rita.

It's raining like crazy and the worst of all is that it's also thundering a lot and I have thunder phobia since I was little. It freaks me out so much! I kept hiding all day under a bunch of blankets and singing my favorite songs and eating chocolate HAHAHAHAH! I hope it goes away soon (please do, I want to sleep.). And thank you so much for the warm welcome!

Poor you, Rita. I love thunderstorms but my cats hate them. They'd be under the bed or behind the sofa.

It's lovely and sunny again today. I love sunny, warm weather.

cool 8c and calm........ There's an article in the Mirror about the demise of hedgehogs . (For Spooky,in case you're all wondering what I'm referring to)

Aw i hope they dont Spooky ..they need the weight to get through the winter dont they, you may have to feed them cake !! lol..

They have been pigging out on cake since they were in the garden. The cake they love but I just need to get rid of their worms as I think they love cake too and are making more use of the cake to get big than the poor hedgie can digest. Hopefully they'll be seen to soon.

Ya got me ,I don't know one single solitary thing about hedgehogs. We don't have them. Nearest thing is an echidna and they are special . They and platypus are monotrenes the last of the egg laying mammals. Echidnas are spiny ant eaters so Australia must be heaven for them . We got lots of ants. Thanks Mandy I have been on the American cancer survivors network since Nov 2001. I had stage 3c colon cancer in Jan 1998. I have made so many friends on the survivors network over the many years plus those who went thru cancer and chemo with me in Australia. For reasons unknown to me there are almost none of them left. It certainly leaves a big hole in your emotions. You make good friends only to watch them lose their battle up to ten years later. Some I will probably never forget.
We did not get our storm today but they have predicted double the trouble tomorrow afternoon with a strong southerly buster coming up the coast and pushing a line of severe storms in front of it. Delightful. Ron.

Wow, Ron, stage 3 in 1998? You're doing very well then, esp considering losing those friends you made. Think we all need to make the most of our lives as cancer is so common now. Hope those storms don't bring too much trouble. All the best, take care Ron.

They need boiled egg (hard) cat food, but only chicken or turkey, raw nuts and water.Milk causes D.,

right, will boil some eggs. Haven't read that one, Carol. Boiled eggs!!! They have a few peanuts that I bought for the tits in the garden and they have mealworm too. plus some sultanas. Will let you know how I get on with the boiled egg, lol. Toastie soldiers too?

Don't spoil them D.,Their mother wouldn't have.I don't know about quantities so you better google it.

Thanks, I've basically left them be in their boxes rather than fussing over them and heaving them out their boxes. Hope I haven't spoilt them at all. I have given them the range of foods suggested and I've just googled boiled eggs and apparently they like a tad of scrambled eggs. Funny little critters. Thanks for the advice.

The mind boggles, somehow I can't imagine any OTHER hedgie mums boiling up eggs or scrambling them for their kids tonight. Spooky you are officially hedgehog mum of the year. By next summer they will look like little wombats and most likely scare the crap out of all the other hedgehogs. 1998 was not a year to remember. dxed by scope on 22nd Jan . Was told I had about seven days to live. Surgery on 23 rd Jan. Spent the rest of 98 having chemo therapy, every Tuesday for 48 weeks. End year17 of survival this coming Jan. I have a friend ,Virginnia in New Zealand . She lost part of her colon and had a wedge resection on her liver. She had the same chemo as I did. She reaches year 21 this Christmas. She is the only other survivor I know from my time which is a bit scary.
Sunny at the moment but they say that the cold front and storms are on their way still.. Will wait and see. Ron.

Well blow me down with a feather ! 😨 i take my hat off to u Ron and your friend true survivors if ever there was ..☆☆'s thats what you are. God bless you n keep you safe . 😙

It keeps raining and the seagulls went crazy. I guess I'm starting to develop some kind of irrational fear towards those birds hahahahha. Today I saw one flying near me and I immediately hid behind my friend and his girlfriend and they laughed and called me a baby. I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO ATTACK ME, OKAY HAHAHHAHA.

Wow, Ron, there is hope for everyone then. Must have been the scare of your life being told you weren't going to live long. But at least you showed them it's possible. I can imagine these hedgies being the size of wombats, and looking a tad like them too, lol.
Tis chilly this evening. Hope the storms do no damage and lets hope the weather men are wrong.

Hey spooky they will be eating all that cake 😀 i hope they dont make their way round my neck of the woods 😨 when wombat size x

Night night Mandy! I just woke up from a nap. I missed out on a lot of a glorious day, but at least I got to enjoy the first part as I ran some errands.

We got the tail end of some storms. Wivenhoe Dam is one of the water storages for Brisbane. A supercell formed over Brisbane again today swept up the Brisbane river valley and smashed a small town on the banks of Wivenhoe. Some of the houses were literally ripped apart. Wild storm. it will only be 24c tomorrow so we should get a break from the storms. Then back again by the weekend, I don't think anyone was hurt in todays storms, I hope not. Ron.

We had another very loud storm overnight and now they are predicting one for this morning . Apparently the cold front stalled on top of us so it is still in play. Ron.

Some romantic old fool once wrote that Autumn is "the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness".....Well from where I'm sitting, I can't see over the road today.
It like trying to see through pea soup.

Storm last night . Category supercell equivalent to cat three cyclone. Town hit Fernvale . Several injuries none serious. Considering how many trees hit houses that is amazing. 200 houses damaged , ten are write offs. Tonight a supercell formed over the Darling downs town of chinchilla. Gale force winds and rain plus almost a metre of golf ball sized hail fell on the town. Hardly a power line survived . 3300 people without power. Town probably only has 3300 people. at last report the cell was headed for Gayndah and another storm was forming over Chinchilla. I really don't get it . sure we get storms like everywhere else but this is getting to be like tornado alley in the States. Stay safe at home , NOT. Perhaps our ex PM might start believing in climate change. I know quite a few people in SE Qld do now. Ron.

You Aussies are really suffering. if it's not blistering hot, it's supercells and superstorms.
I'm safe here in Northamptonshire where its sunny with some clouds. Rain later I think.
Hedgies scoff boiled eggs, lol. Gaining more weight too.

The fog's cleared and now it's pouring down with rain.
A couple of weeks ago they were forecasting a cold spell for now.
Today they're saying we might get a "HEAT" wave at the week-end.
Not up to Aussie standards of course, but still unnatural for us at this time of year.
Weird isn't it ?

Rainy most of the day here. Spooky glad hedgies are gaining weight, wish i could ☺ maybe i should come live in your garden 😃.
Carol heatwave wow iv not heard about that. Well heres hoping ☺
Ron keep safe mate boy do u have some extreme weather in Oz 😨

Tee hee. Hope ur ok tho mate n feeling a bit better than the other day. Pray for sunshine its good for the old bones ☺

It has been raining all ay, the gentle tank filling kind that we need not the other delinquent stuff that has been happening overnight. The armed forces piped up today and stated that their staff numbers and equipment has no hope of contending or coping with expected climate change events in the coming years.. Good to know we have no insurance there again someone said to me yesterday ,with your health why would you be worried about the future. Not nice. Ron.

Hi Ron glad u got the much needed rain. I will bet your forces wont be the only ones who wont cope either 😕
well that comment stinks what a horrid thing to say 😠 bet they wouldnt like it said to them if they were ill. Take care pal 😚

Sun's coming through and it's not too cold. Think we get the rain a tad later.
@Ron, some people are so wrong in the head their only joy is trying to be utterly snide and nasty. Can't understand those with such diabolical characters.
