5c and drizzly with some sleet....re: fireworks. In the 50+ years I had dogs (8) I dreaded Nov.5th which was our Guy Fawkes.Only one or two weren't bothered but the others were terrified.Bangers went off in the streets and back alleys for two weeks.I had to take them out for p's while still daylight ( 4pm ) and wait until 1am to get them out again.Nowadays fireworks are popular at xmas, new year, birthdays, weddings etc. It's probably the only reason I don't miss belonging to a dog now.

-3C gray with a couple centimeters of snow. Had a deep sleep last night with only a couple of interruptions for a change. Woke up to hear about the Ethiopian plane crash this morning, my thoughts and condolences go out to the people lost and their families.

-2 and a few centimeters of wet snow. For the past few days water has been running down the streets into the drains, feels like spring is on the way. Last year we went from winter to summer.

Temps expected in the mid 30.s today and tomorrow. Private fireworks are banned in Australia. The only fireworks allowed are organised licensed events. They were permitted when I was a kid but we used to see a lot of injuries every year particularly to unsupervised children. trouble was Guy Fawkes night developed into a drunken night for the adults and an unsupervised free for all for the kids. Ron.

Being Lazy!

SummaryMax 35Hot. Possible late storm.Possible rainfall: 0 to 0.2 mm .Chance of any rain: 30%
Brisbane area
Hot. Mostly sunny morning. Slight (30%) chance of a shower or gusty thunderstorm late this afternoon and evening. Winds northwesterly 15 to 20 km/h becoming light in the middle of the day then becoming north to northeasterly 15 to 25 km/h in the early afternoon.

Yesterday we had a snow storm. Huge flakes came down, and horizontally due to the wind. Settled then vanished.

Lovely and sunny today, windy still so putting washing on the line.

Still -7 here.... The sun is getting warmer though... Shouldn't be long now till I can complain about the heat...;) Today, at least I woke up at the correct time..that's always a good start!!!

-8C sunny with a stiff northerly breeze. Change of plans, I was going to drive down for supplies, but this is good skiing weather and the opportunities are becoming fewer as the time goes forward.

Sunny finally soooo yea!!!! Weird I hadn't been getting updates in my email for quite awhile and have been out of it so couldn't find this site again until now :-( Hope all is well with everyone I've miss ya.

-1C and another beautiful sunny day. I've been going for a walk every day. The sparrows are checking out my range hood outlet, the cover broke off and there's a perfect small ledge for a nest. When I hear a male chirping in there, I bang on the hood. I've already got bird houses in the back yard.

Severe storm yesterday after a 36c day. Hail up to two cm. Expecting 36 c again today and more storms. Quite a few areas in SE Queensland set heat records for march yesterday. Seems like it will be same as last year. Autumn summer winter summer spring summer & SUMMER . There are confirmed reports this year from Victoria of fruit actually cooking on the trees. That is scary. Ron.

1C and rising. I took in the afternoon and skied the length of the trail. I took in the full afternoon of it since they are calling for possible rain. Most likely that rain may firm up the snowpack should we get the cold air they are calling for behind the system. If so I may be able to take the old cedar strip canoe back to the house with the snowmobile from the cabin for refurbishing over the summer.

+4C and sunny. The sidewalks are solid ice with water on top. Walking on the road is treacherous because the snowbanks are taking up so much room.

Cold, windy and showery. Trees are coming to life and quite a few have blossom all over. That's nice to see. I'm sick of dark evenings and dark days too. Mind, I shouldn't complain, we've had some lovely February weather.

Tuff, don't be falling on the ice. Stay safe.

Buff, sounds like you had a great day.

Buff I miss canoeing. Left it with the ex when I moved out.
This morning it's +2, heavy rain warning for this evening. Rainfall amounts in the 15 to 30 mm range are expected by the time the rain transitions to snow Thursday night. So more snow as well. Just when the snowbanks were turning into sandbanks.

The forecast is looking ominous with rainfall warnings, this could make quite a mess unless it turns back into snow. The ground is frozen with nowhere for the water to go which could lead into flooding. Misery outside today as the snow does not support my weight well, as I find myself struggling to make it to the outhouse. Brought in extra firewood, and now I am holed up inside ready for this messy system.

Well it's dark....and cold...zzzzz....yep cannot sleep again from pain....hoping to have a good weather day to drive to Portland for my grand daughters birthday....pray I get at least 4 hours sleep altogether...the military trained me to live with that amount anyway....can someone tell me how to post a new threat again...brain dead and want to know if anyone else got drug induced lupus from vedolizumab....sigh.....

We got 22mm last night, but no heavy downpours. There's flooding in some low lying areas, but my street is dry. It's still drizzling, and snow in the forecast. Wasn't as bad as everyone was expecting. My power went off during the night though. I always stock up on food with these storm warnings just in case.

Pouring rain all night both outside and inside the house. I filled the 20 liter pail in less than 12 hours from the leak in the roof. I'll be sending an update to my insurance adjuster, but there is nothing that can be done until the snow is gone so the workers can gain access.

Yikes, our roof is next on the list! Not looking forward to it... to say the least!!!

It was -10c this morning and up to slightly above zero later on. We enjoyed beautiful strong sunshine on the mountains and in the valley bottoms alike in the early to mid afternoon. The birds are all singing, robins, chickadees, nuthatches, juncos, grosbeaks, finches... Just to name a few... Progress heading into spring this year is seemingly slow, yet steady. My best to all.

We are getting quite a few storms coming thru. They are affecting the whole east coast of Australia with strong winds , hail and lots of lightning. Typical of storms they never seem to drop rain where it is needed. There are quite a few areas of south east Queensland that are applying water restrictions. It can get bad in areas that are supplied by large dams but it can get critical for those who rely on rainwater tanks. In semi rural areas you can buy water supplied by tankers getting water from the dams. I don't know what Mervs situation is like on the islands in Moreton bay. There is not much room to build dams on the islands and the logistics of getting water out to islands can get expensive. Ron.

Weather, as you expect, much the same as yours, Ron31*C, or thereabouts and horribly humid, which is not helping my present bout of bronchitis!

All the inhabited southern Moreton Bay islands have an independent water supply piped from deep aquifers located on N. Stradbroke Island. It is of excellent quality and is also piped to Redland Bay on the mainland. It is odd that the underground water we drink maybe tens of thousands of years old! As you say, before the water was laid on in the 1900s, people relied on rainwater tanks.

Sorry to hear an about your woes Buff. All you need now is a hole in your bucket. There's a hole in my bucket dear Liza........ Sorry!

And to think that 42 years ago, I very nearly emigrated to Canada. What deterred me was that for some reason, the Canadian Nursing Board decided to ( in some locations, BC in particular) not to recognize British State Registered Nurse's qualifications. I think you could probably get a job at Labrador,
Manitoba or Newfoundland, but not for me! Neither did I wish to sit my exams again!

That aside, I'm much more of a jungle bunny. Seen all the snow that I wanted to.
Cheers
Merv

11c and blowing a hooley.Bright sunshine and short sharp showers. Bad weather expected tomorrow, but nowhere near as bad as Canada & Australia.....Ours won't last more than a day or two at most.

-4, cloudy with a few flakes. The snowstorm missed us again thankfully. Southern Ontario is getting it now.

-7C. The mush of melting snow that left me postholing because it wouldn't support my weight yesterday is solid today, which is good as I couldn't walk anywhere outside yesterday. Now I can get around again for now. The leak stopped giving me a much needed break; lots of ice on the roof, I don't think those roof vents that were installed are working properly as I have never had ice build up like this before.
Chris, if you are considering getting your roof re shingled be sure to get a reputable company, one that honor and stand behind their work, and well established in case you need to sue them later.

We had a thumper of a storm lat night. It dumped around a 100mm of rain in a short time with continuous lightning. Our power input cable tore off the wall this morning and was only just holding on by the connectors. It was hanging down about ten foot off the road. I called energex and went out and kept an eye out for trucks. They would have received a nasty surprise . The power guys turned up and repaired it just after lunch. More storms coming everyday for the next week. Ron.

Bright and sunny, -7 going to 0 in the afternoon. Feels like spring, thankfully the snow is melting during the day, and nights are cooler, so it's not all going at once. I'm going to go out and shovel today, and move a big snowbank against the house, just in case.

-12C sunny, more seasonal once again without everything turning into a mess. We had flurries yesterday perhaps enough for a ski this afternoon if temperatures stay below the freezing mark. I'll take this quiet weather for now, as it could become very active anytime as spring progresses.

Well, you're not even in the trash mail now, lol. I don't know what google are up to these days. Can't get notifications at all, and being British I like my weather whinge thread.

I'm whinging. I wish this bloody wind would relent. I'm sick of it. We need to get that February weather back, was so summery. Mind, i'm not liking the sound of everyone else's weather at the moment. I stick the wind out for a while.

7C here today a lot of the snow went with the rain yesterday and the fog this morning. Maybe we have turned the corner on winter

Much the same as yesterday. Cloudy, humid and 29*. More rain ( (90% chance) and a forecast for possible thunderstorms late afternoon/evening. It is amazing how green out little island has tuned in the past few days.
M

The sun is out, whoopee. I'm in for a cheerful morning I think. Going to plant up some seeds today. We're over the half-way point in March, so less of the doom and gloom of winter weather.

-10C The nights still freeze while it melts slightly during the day makes for a slow easy melt without the mess. I had a good ski yesterday, the snow is settling and there is some discoloring of the snow on some of the beaver ponds is a sure sign that winter is coming to an end.

Still warm and humid. We had another storm last night and most likely one every night this week. Temps are back up into the 30's by Tuesday. A lot of the NSW coast had heavy rain yesterday. This morning they advised cyclone Trevor had formed just north of Cape York and was heading south west. Ron.

Some sun, but cloudier today. No sign of hedgehogs yet. They're keeping me on my toes for their arrival. The birds are singing beautifully now. More flowers too.

Cloudy, -4 but going up to +4 in the afternoon. There is an itsy bitsy cloud right over the city on radar, and there are a few large snowflakes coming down. The snowbanks are still a few feet high, but much better than it was. I think they're evaporating more than melting. There just isn't much runoff.

The weather looks to be warming up steadily throughout the week. One more supply run to do for the heavy goods as it will very soon be difficult to get anything to the house from the parking area as the deep snow pack will soften up and not support any weight making use of a snowmobile not possible.

33*C in South East Queensland. High humidity makes it seem hotter. Chance of rain later today. Cyclone Trevor is expected to cross the N QLD coast this afternoon, Category 3 and intensifying. Wind up around the 200 km per hour have been recorded according to some sources. One would not wish to be in northern areas today. I feel for the people up there.

Glad I got the supply run in, as its going to get messy going forward. Lots of work to be done inside, as the trails become impassible. Perhaps it will be pleasant enough to put garden furniture out on the deck.

They've predicted 17C today, so naturally I've got my heating on as it's far colder than that. White skies too. Roll on Summer. Mind, I think it's Spring officially today, isn't it?

Thought of you tonight Carol. I was watching Bondi rescue. There was a 9 year old lad from England, been in Australia four hours when he jumped in the water at bondi and got well and truly wrapped up in bluebottle tentacles( Known elsewhere as portugeses man o war) . He was not a happy little chap . Ron.

14c and cloudy.Hubby was so overcome with the heat while shopping ,he took his cap off !!! He NEVER takes off his cap off outdoors, so I almost called for a paramedic.I've decided I'm going to hide his long underwear until winter. No doubt he'll turn the place upside down looking for them if the temps drop,so I might have to hide them in the oven or the washing machine. He doesn't know we have them.I kid you not.

A couple of cms of wet snow overnight, its messy n drippy outside so I am holed up indoors and ready to snuggle up with the big orange cat for a snooze. Good day to hibernate.

Over 30c again today , 70% humidity , Cyclone trevor has crossed the cape and is heading for the Northern territory. Temps over night are around 22c. It is very hard to get any sleep particularly with the high humidity . More storms predicted for this afternoon. This is November weather not late March. Ron.

16c and sunny.First wear of the year of liteweight Hi-Viz cycling jacket. And we saw BUTTERFLIES on the ride..…...cooling to 10c at the weekend though.I'll try very hard not to complain about our weather in the future after the tragic floods in Africa this week.Absolutely devastating.

Back down to 65 after our glorious 70 something yesterday. It felt great sitting in my wheelchair with the sun on my face waiting for my ride. The one positive of yesterday....see I can be positive. :)

Clear sunny day with a breeze as the snow slowly melts, the birds are making quite a racket. Its time to stop feeding them as the vermin come out of hibernation and find the feed and the birds can easily find their regular food sources now.

+7C and sunshine. Some green grass on the edge of the boulevard. The snowbanks have shrunk considerably without any flooding. I have to put in my seed order, I'm late this year. Maybe get some blackberry canes as well.

Brisbane area
Partly cloudy. Medium (40%) chance of showers, most likely in the late morning and afternoon. The chance of a thunderstorm from late this morning, mainly in the west. Light winds.

The official forecast for my local area. As Ron has mentioned the real action is in the tropical north where two cyclones lurk. TC Trevor is a potentially nasty one, expected to reach cat 4.

-3 but going up to +5. Bright and sunny. A few flurries in the forecast for Sunday, so it's not over yet. I'm going to sweep the sidewalk today, can't do any raking yet.

I caught the squirrel in the act drilling through the plastic film covering the chicken I placed outside to cool after supper last evening. Had I waited another minute he could have destroyed my leftovers. No more feeding the birds as this attracts unwanted wildlife, a sure sign of spring's arrival.

One of the weather forecasters last night suggested that our above average Autumn temps are due to high sea temps. He said that if that is the case and sea temps stay high we will be looking at above average temps for a long time, so get used to it. We have had temps in the l 21c h 30c+all of this month with very high humidity and thunderstorms likely nearly every afternoon. The future ????? Ron.

Hot and sunny. 34* with N/E wins which are not cooling. Glad to see that Cyclones Trevor and Veronica has crossed the coast and are dissipating. As far as I know, the damage has been less than could have been expected.

Lovely and sunny out. Winter woollies are drying nicely. I'm still wearing them though, oh, and the thermal vests. I'm not that brave!

I'm planting some potatoes and flowers up today.

Another 30c+ day and 20c + night. Nearly April and the number of days below 30c you could count on the fingers of one hand. We are expecting two days with rain and temps in the mid 20cs mid week but by Friday back to 33c. Ron.

Looks like another sunny day. Not cold out again. I think we are over Winter well and truly. Expecting some nice weather, apparently until May. Whoopee.

Spooky, I will swap you weather for a day! Hot, horribly humid and windless. 33*. Ron50 and I are fairly close neighbours ( by Australian standards )and he and I are sick of the heat. Wednesday might bring a drop in temperatures and a reasonable amount of the wet stuff.

Cooler weather has firmed up the snow pack, I am going to take advantage of it by doing a fuel run before the weather warms up and softens the trails again. Time is running out, and the taxes on fuel are going up next week

Fine and sunny 9c. with a brisk Northerly breeze.Great day for a cycle.Lots of people at the coast, walking, cycling and jogging. One or two hardy souls in shorts and T.s.....nutters.

Fuel prices shot up by 15 cents a liter at many stations today, I'm glad I made the fuel run yesterday. I felt good yesterday, one of those rare days that I felt rested, and my bowels were good too. Fuel runs are always long, as I combine grocery shopping and everything else in one day to cut my costs.

+6 and rain in the forecast. I made a supply run with my Trolley Dolly in case it really pours. Maybe that will melt the last of the snow. Don't want any more.
