What is YOUR weather like today??

When I go over my finances and look at the options, staying put appears to be my best option for the time being. I'll be burning through my finances if I make the move too soon and the last place I want to end up is in the government run seniors facilities. So many unknowns after having lived in this place for over 36 years. 6C gray, expecting some rain later.

Strange weather, cold, rain ,snow and strong winds on the south half of Australia whilst the northern half is warm and very dry and high fire danger with consistently strong winds. Very hard to make plans for the future Buff. My finances don't give me much chance of moving anywhere and with my health moving to an aged care facility would be the end. Over 90% of covid deaths in Australia have been in the over 50 age group and most in aged care facilities. I was very sad to see that Trump ,this week, has opened around 16% of Alaska old growth forests to logging and all of the development and logging roads that go with it. Ron.

5C wet and paltry. All of our forests are under attack, along with the oceans and just about everything else. Makes one wonder if Covid is related to the reduction in biodiversity and the overall health of the biosphere. Somewhere along the line human health is related to the overall health of the planet itself. Put the distance in on your iron horse Chris, and enjoy.

Just what you don't need Di., You'll have to do what they do in N.America & Canada.Put the eatables in a sack, tie with rope ,toss the rope over a branch and haul the sack up out of the way of predators....Or stay up all night filming and sell the footage to a wildlife comp.
Lovely sunny crisp day.Walked over to the park to feed the ducks and birds. We put a couple of old jam tarts beside the field rats home and enjoyed watching them too

Spent the day at the hospital yesterday trying to sort my bloodwork out again. cancer marker is slightly higher (balls). Never mind.
Disgusting weather today. Bucketing down and quite windy. Think it's far worse further south, but Carol might have better conditions up there in the north.

Hi All
My husband & I love Vera I hope that means there will be a new series soon.
Bufford Spooky Ron you all seem to have had your fair share of problems lately health wise, I hope you are all feeling better.
I myself have got Vertigo that is without a drink lol, I am doing sober October for Macmillan I have lost a lot of family and friends to this bastard of a disease.
Diabetes wise still gmhri,
The weather here in Lancashire is cold & wet at the moment.
Keep safe & well everyone Val🤢

It's been another nice day after a chilly start.Went into town for some bits and I was really uncomfortably hot behind my mask and was glad to get home.To be honest I never was much for shops but Covid has really put a dampner on things...….think of the money your saving Carol ???

Vera will probably be shown next year CW. There are a few places locally that she visits often, cafes etc. It's good identifying where she is,and George Gently too,but he's mostly Durham

Aw, it's pretty disgusting out there today. Thoroughly damp and cold. My body is starting to shrivel against the cold. I need a summer holiday lol.
I see POTUS & FLOTUS are infected. Our numbers are up. Madrid is one capital on lockdown. Looks like Liverpool and others up north here are in isolation lockdown again. So far so good. Had a covid test as routine when i turned up at Emergency assessment. So pleased about that.

we have had a warm and windy day, still no rain in sight up here only the southern states. I see a report of a bushfire today in Qld. It was up in far north Queensland in the rainforest around Cooktown. They get around three meters of rain in a dry year. We are going ok with covid. Victoria is the only state with any problems and they are down to around seven cases a day. All the other states are pretty well covid free except for expats flying in and going straight to quarantine. they are testing sewage and waste water and if they find any remnants of the virus they ramp up testing in the appropriate area. Ron.

I always skip Halloween. Xmas stuff is in the shop too. I think we're supposed to have Guy ~Fawkes night, but that is probably going to break social distancing rules so perhaps it's cancelled this year.

Still disgustingly wet after storm Alex which appears to have done untold damage in France and Italy. Must have been one big storm that we got the tail end of. Probably staying in again today. Cold, wet, much rain and bloody awful out there lol.

Hi Val, I really suffer badly with vertigo. The worst attack I had was sitting on the loo which I promptly fell off. I spent nearly four hours on the floor using toilet rolls as a pillow and throwing up every time I moved my head or opened my eyes. It has put me in hospital at least four times. The last time they did a couple of ecgs and found atrial fib and atrial flutter. I have been on warfarin ever since. I take anti histamines every day and they help to minimise the severity. Now when I have a bad attack I take a stemetil tablet every 8 hours until it lets up. I always go to bed in a darkened room with a large bucket beside the bed. My doctor won't let me take stemetil every day as he said it can lead to addiction. I really feel for you, it is an awful, debilitating illness. When I am having an attack I almost wish it would kill me . Ron.

Grotty weather again here today. Slightly warmer though.

I am really sorry for both migraine sufferers. My sister has vestibular migraine without the pain and has to take to bed. She daren't move or she throws up. Must be awful to need to get to the loo desperately and not being able to walk fast. Horrible.

Britain has messed up the covid numbers and we have much higher infections than thought. Many countries are now experiencing awful rises and lockdowns. Very depressing. If i get it i hope it's as easy as the case of POTUS and FLOTUS lol.

7C with showers. As the weather gets cooler the covid numbers are rising. The virus has been poorly handled. I am getting concerned about the rising level of debt in this country in tandem with the collapsing economy. It appears the government has no plan for the post pandemic economy if and ever this virus passes on, nor do we have a plan to better contain the spread.

Hi Ron my Vertigo started suddenly last Wednesday during the
Night every time I turned over in bed.
I rang the GP surgery for advice, the clinical Associate said it
sounded like BPPV he gave me tablets & an exercise to do.
I hope it won't be permanent as like you say it is horrible.😵

26c today. Very overcast but no chance of rain. Most areas of Australia have had some good rain but absolutely none here. They are still talking up la ninya . the central areas of the country have had a lot of direct rain. They normally get their water from rain events hundreds of miles away and it arrives as a dry flood . it can be really spectacular and quite scary if you are in the wrong spot at the wrong time. They say we will get some severe cyclones. I am not looking forward to that as there is nothing I can do to prepare ,it is what it is. Ron.

I watched a programme about the wildfires last year in Aus, Ron. It was simply dreadful. Then the floods came, You could do with some stable, normal weather, Ron.

Lol about the rat., Chris. I've had a few mice, shrews, and birds in that need retrieving from the cat. I have had a mouse run up the inside of my pyjama's once when rescuing a mouse the cat brought in in the early hours. Wow, those jim jams came off fast lol. Frightened my cat it did with all my silly screams.

Nice out today however, the mornings are now colder, much colder. Not Buff and Chris' cold weather,, not Ron's lovely winter temps or sunshine, but British cold and miserable. Let's hope we see the sun today.

Thanks CMACK back on the Vertigo tablets for the wizzy head but don't feel sick which is a bonus.
I hope you find the rat, the ones we have over here you can saddle them they are so big.
The weather is cold and it is supposed to rain for a few days.
Spooky my cat would run a mile if she saw a rat come to mention it so would I lol.
Ron I have a brother who has moved from Perth to Melbourne hope the weather does not turn nasty you have enough with the virus.
Keep safe everyone Val🌂🌂

He should have stayed in Perth Val. They just about have the second wave of virus under control in Melbourne. It is the only state that has any daily cases. What it does have is lousy weather. It has been cold wet and windy for months. We are expecting 27c and sunny tomorrow. Ron.

14c and cloudless skies.....had a cycle along the coast and there are still lots of people out.Makes you wonder if anyone is going to work.
Maybe they discovered they enjoyed walking during lockdown. We'll see if they're still keen when the winter sets in.

10C party cloudy. Carol here too we have a nation taking a well paid covid holiday and making it their new lifestyle riding it out for as long as they can. I have no idea how the country will pay off the bill it racked up so far, the numbers are dizzying in themselves. I won't be worrying about it, as it will be the problem for the younger generations to deal with who supported the spending. I moved three loads of firewood yesterday. Its a pest year here too with many mice, as well as the beaver flooding out the trail to the cabin.

This country is in the same dilemma but our dozy PM says we'll be OK in 10yrs,,,so that's something to look forward to eh ? I'm just glad I'm at an age where I don't have to bother meself about it......Happily got no mortgage or debt, and past working age so no need to apply for hundreds of jobs I'm no going to get.The younger generation are going to have a struggle and no mistake..
14c and sunny....is it never going to end ??? the trees are beautiful though.

Not having to worry about these events is one of the bennefits of being senior. I am more concerned about the state of our healthcare system being overloaded and the old folks get pushed to the back of the line when it comes to medical treatments. Things like cardio ultrasound waiting lines are getting very long.

15c here today. My father gets up at 4AM every day and he hears the rat... today he even went downstairs and saw it sitting on the furnace duct. I'm the one with the pistol skills. I wish he would have woken me up like I asked so I could shoot it with the pellet pistol. Dang it!

I know the feeling Carol. All our pollies talk about is restarting the economy. They constantly talk as if the global pandemic is over. It isn't and the number of infections and deaths around the world are still rising as nations go thru their second and third waves of covid. I find it hard to imagine any small country being able to restart their domestic economy until the world economy resets. I find it even more unlikely in Australia with only 26 million people that we can resurrect our economy until it is safe for the world to open international borders and a safe and effective vaccine is likely to be our only hope of that.
Cloudy but still no rain except in the southern states where it seems to be a daily event. Keep a check on your feet Val, what you describe sounds a bit like neuropathy. I can barely stand to cover my feet at night they burn so much. They don't know if the neuropathy is from diabetes or chemotherapy. Buff we are having similar problems here with hospitals focussing on covid so much that people are having to wait forever for proper heart and cancer checks. There are some things you just cannot do via Telehealth.Ron.

Me too Buff .My husbands surgery is a bloody disgrace no mistake. We're on the verge of changing his Doctor but who's to say the new one will be any better. Like you, health is a major worry for us too.

12c and a sunny morning.Cycled along to the docs for our scripts and guess what....not ready. No wurries though.Les has 3 of each of his 6 scripted heart tablets left.I ordered them on Monday as there's a 48hr wait.Hopefully they'll be ready on Monday or I'll be having words with the Practise Manager.

I have a doctor's appt today and was expecting to go down to the office, but reception called saying due to covid that I would have the appointment done via telephone. I was hoping to see her in person so that she could do the liquid nitrogen treatment for my scaly forehead skin. We had a spike in numbers and now the fear is that the numbers may go up further with people celebrating the Thanksgiving weekend. I think its going to be a long winter given this virus.

Hi Bufford all my appointments are by telephone at the moment, I have one next week with the gastro team.
I do have an hospital appointment for an ECG because of the sob but because of the new restrictions it may not happen
I get so anxious they can't make a diagnosis over the phone.
Take care everyone Val☎☎
.

It's 15c and cloudy here. My doctor want's me to come in for a full physical... Not Happening! I live with two seniors and it can be done over the phone unless I'm having a serious issue. I won't step inside a hospital or clinic right now unless I'm in a dire state. I hope everyone is doing as well as possible. Update: I haven't caught the rat yet so I filled a live trap with cheese, overripe fragrant banana and a sliced ripe pear. He really needs to shove off!

Getting stressed out and depressed here. Can't believe the govt want to lock us vulnerables down. Just the two socials for me since July 19 when my cancerous nodes swelled up my body. Having heard NED i am desperate to go out and be normal before the ovarian returns, which, apparently it always does, but this is just depressing, humiliating and i wish i could go and escape somewhere different with my elderly cat. Our numbers are rising fast now.

No badger last night, but he is digging deeper and deeper holes in my front lawn, the little sod. No hedgepigs since spring and no birds either apart from a couple of jackdaws. No rain yet, but cold out and yes, the trees are looking grand before the leaves really fall.

Hope you get that rat, Chris. One of my cats tried bringing me a live one through the back door. Thank God i spotted it in her mouth and shut the door on her. I wasn't having a rat in my place, omg, the thought.

Good little ditty that Carol. Made me laugh. I swear our govt and NHS are one rung lower than north korea! So pathetic with silly rules, nobody can follow them they are so ridiculous now. Looks like we need to protect our nhs again, but they could use the covid hospitals set up. But, no, they are filling all the normal hospitals with covid patients again. Makes me so sick that govt and nhs are helping very few other than covids. That's all they care about. I sincerely hope your hubby is getting proper treatment, Carol. He deserves it.

It was over 30c today with no storms or rain. Victoria is soaked and Tasmania has nearly been washed away. Another WA surfer went the way of so many Australians this year, taken by a great white. We have had five years of shark attacks in one year and it is just the beginning of summer.Ron.

11c and sunny....IBD nurse rang for a catch-up.She wants me to have a sigmoid. as a colonoscopy is not advisable as my flare is back since stopping steroids Phone call 2hrs later with an appt for Thursday 8-30am.Yikes !!! Unfortunately they can't do a sigmoid over the phone hahaha.Have to go for a covid test on Tues then self isolate 'til thurs. Oh deep joy.

I'm having the most diabolical flare up since i finished chemo. I don't think my gastro bloke and i get on lol. My onc asked him to see me urgently in August last year. No appointment yet. My actual GP won't ever write a prescription and not even hand me a stool sample test kit, so i complained and got the telling off of a lifetime. Unfortunately they are over-prescribed and need a new surgery, so i can't really go elsewhere. No luck for me at all Carol. I so hope all goes well. The covid test wasn't as bad as i had expected. Good luck.

I am going to have another ultrasound done on my gallbladder as its been acting up again during our phone in doctor appt yesterday. It probably has been doing so all a long as it is easy to get the stricture pain confused with the gallbladder as they are close together. I saw gallstones in my stool when I had pains recently which was a giveaway that the pain this time was not the stricture.
The roofers are here today fixing the problems of the last roof job. There was no tar paper or weather shielding of any kind under the shingles which is one of several issues. The crew is professional this time unlike the last group of workers who looked and acted like they just got released out of detox or jail.
Chris cheese will work very well with its smell and will attract the rat. Having said that usually there are more than one. The more the merrier.

Went to Morrisons very early this morning, so did everyone else. It's still quite a joke with the one way systems around each supermarket.

Really cold this morning. Fingers are really numb and i need to start some pruning in the garden before it gets too late. Can't believe how dark it is of an evening.

Another hot and windy day with the temp just under 30c. Still no sign of rain. Massive search at esperance for a missing surfer . All they found was a few scraps of wet suit and a surf board full of teeth marks. I am really glad that I am too old and unwell to go swimming or diving anymore. They showed a drone video of one of our top surfers paddling out on the southern gold coast last week . He had a two meter great white circling around beneath him. Fortunately it was a life savers drone and was fitted with a speaker. He paddled in very quickly. Ron.

Hi Spooky they are the ones from "Dunhelm", I bought the duvet cover & pillow cases last year. I have done a little retail therapy today
went on Argos website and bought a mini motorised exercise bike the sort you can exercise the legs sat on the settee and arms on a table.
I thought it may be safer for me because of the Vertigo & hubby can use it for his knees. Val

Tis nice cosy bedding, Val. Like the sound of that exercise bike that's a bit electric or something. Sounds like the sort of thing that i could use to get a bit of strength up. I have to do something to make sure my bones don't get thinner.

Careful on the roof in that cold weather Buff, sounds a tad dangerous. Leave it to the roofers.

Much sunnier today, but rain is sweeping in again with temperatures dropping fast now. I've tried back filling the euro tunnel between my neighbours and myself fence and no badger last night. Whoopee. I did see my robin return to the feeder today. So pleased about that. It's probably the colder weather that brings them for some easy fat balls and suet etc.

Awaiting more restriction announcements from the govt tomorrow. Hopefully it's just for the north of England. Sorry, Val and Carol. Hope you're not finding it too difficult. Stay safe up north.

I don't know about Carol but the resrictions are silly & keep changing, I haven't been to Blackburn for a while but my husband works there.
He says people are so confused that they don't bother to keep a distance & the buses still run between Bolton Darwen & Blackburn.
Spooky you need to buy the teddy duvet set you will be toasty all winter.
Take Care Everyone Val😷 Keep wearing the mask.

warm and overcast but still no forecast for rain. Buff it wasn't until I had acute pancreatitis when my main pancreatic duct blocked off with a gall stone that they removed my gallbladder. It was not till after it was removed that I realised how much pain it had been causing for years. Take care all , the world is getting weirder by the day.Ron.

Feels proper autumnal out there this morning. As Thomas Hardy wrote in his 'Neutral Tones', "the sun was white as though chidden by God, and a few leaves lay on the starving sod". Starting the leaf clearing already and my garden wheelie bin is full, so, i must have been busy lol.

Around 12C at the moment and haven't put my heating on so far.

Dark with a lot of rain. What better timing, I was on a roll yesterday and managed to get a lot of work done at the cabin. I didn't feel great when I left the house, but I came back with a sense of accomplishement. I went steady and easy and up went the steel. I knew it was getting late, and the neighbor came out to check up on me. I said you should have come 3 hours earlier and would have had some power tools for you to use, it was a good day. Ron you are right about the gallbladder, the doctor has been reluctant to remove it, and I recently watched one of my vacations on video where I had a trip nearly ruined by a gallbladder attack. I know that my quality of life is being held back by this lousy thing and the pain it can radiate. As I get older I am really getting disgruntled by our public healthcare system.

Glad everything went OK with the cabin work Buff.
I have been watching the covid news, it seems Blackburn w Darwen will be in tier 2 when the new restrictions come in on Wednesdsday.
I have the telephone consult tomorrow with the Castro team
I have got my questions ready it will be weir.
Take Care folks. Val💊💹

I couldn't have approache3d a rat that size! I would have turned and run. I bet he could have ourtrun me anytime.

It's satisfying to make good headway on a project, Buff. I bet you're looking forward to real winter and heading out on the snowmobile.

Sunny out at the moment, i think i'll head out for a wander today. We'll be locked down again soon i dare say.

Another wet day after yesterday's downpour, and am glad I got ahead with the roof work, but I still need a couple of decent afternoons to wrap it all up. That's a big rat Chris, keep those traps baited as you never know, given how they reproduce. The seasons are teasing, frost on the snowmobile covers is suggesting something good on the horizon. Wood piled high, I am ready.

I hope so too Carol that part is horrendus does nothing for mental health.
I had an interesting conversation with the gastro team it seems the blood tests I did for the liver was not sent back to Preston
as per usual it was an agreement made between Darwen Health Centre & Preston, to say I was pissed was an understatement, the gastro
team weren't chuffed either.
The weather is once again lovely only 7degrees but sunny.
Take care everyone especially you Carol.
Val:cool:

The weather here was nice today with a high of 17c. I spent the afternoon fixing my fathers truck. It needed a new alternator and battery, The brakes are going to soon be done on the front... It's down to the squeal strips. It's a relief to hear that you got through the appointment, Carol. I, myself, have given myself plenty of fleet enemas upon my doctors requirements as prep. Not fun at all. I wish you the very best. Big hugs.XX

P.S. The damn rats have chewed up wires under the hood of the truck, and also chewed the inner hood insulation. This truck gets driven five days a week??? WTF???

Thought I would check in. For some reason I have not been getting notifications. Hope everyone is reasonably well despite the poking and prodding. WE have had a small amount of rain and it remains cloudy with no real prospects. They keep telling us it is coming but many areas are now on very strict water restrictions. The bush is drying out and fire danger is high. Some alarming reports being released by WHO on the state of the covid pandemic worldwide. It sounds like a lot of countries have really dropped the ball in their efforts to deal with covid. Ron.

11c and a bright sparkley day .Feeling better after yesterday's fun time. I don't know about the rest of you but I always feel better when they find somethings not right...I mean, who want's to feel like crap when you're told you're as fit as a butchers dog ?

I saw the chemist today and told him I was not going to inject myself with any more Bi Dureon the type two med. He told me I should be on trulicity which is another type two injectable. I asked whether it had less side effects. He said no they have the same side effects. I've done five injections and each week I feel worse. I got home and sat in front of the tv. I had said to the chemist that it is not the sort of drug you give to someone who suffers from vertigo. I didn't see much tv just the bottom of a bucket. Eventually it stopped for a minute and I was able to pop a couple of stemetil. They helped considerably. I don't know how often I have said to doctors , I don't care if you can't fix me, just don't make me worse. Hugs Carol I know what you mean. Ron.

-2C under colbalt blue skies with the sun reflecting off of the snow. Feels like winter, and more snow is in the forecast over the weekend. Critters can be a big problem, I have to move the truck around and park it in different parts of the driveway after I had another issue of mice getting into the ventilation system. I had some dirt blowing out of the heater last week as part of a mouse nest build underway in the heater, luckily not much, I caught it early. A few years back I had to take the heater appart to clean out a big stinky nest made in there.
