That Austrian heat sounds like my tours in Afghanistan. So hot all you car about is where is your next source of water. Hope it gets under control soon. I fought fires a couple times with the military ya not fun. Ya German Shepherd flown over when she was 1 I got her at 3+ and she just turned 4. She doesn’t mind the cold, only 41 F on beach this morning.
Hello, what would we do without our pets ?
The suburb where I live is full of dog lovers.
I'm not fit enough for a dog that needs a lot of exercise so looking at breeds suited to live happily with not much exercise or indoors but my cats would not be happy. Here is a photo of my 17 year old female rescue cat Fifi. (Oops, can't upload photos, files too big ?!) Anyway, she's long haired, black and very round due to eating far too much.

The old lady who lives in the flat above me has a black and white moggy called Gecko. She is always having to run off to somewhere in a hurry and she gives me two minutes notice to look after the cat. The moment Peg drives out of the garage Gecko is at my front door. Just as well I love cats.
Another very hot day, Frazer island is still burning and they still can't seem to put it out. Hot again tomorrow with no sign of rain. Ron.

But why should you have to do that ? There are a great many people who don't or cannot use the internet.Glad you got it sorted though.
Wet and cold today, looks like winter has finally arrived...….Hubby having a cat scan on Saturday re: his prostate. Fingers x'd it doesn't need seeing to.

It's 3°c today and pouring with rain. I am now officially grey haired and a cat lady. There is a white and ginger cat in my close who looks homeless so I leave dry food out for her outside my front door. At least she's being fed. Recently, I found a three legged cat and took it to my local animal hospital. Luckily it was micro chipped so the owner was found.
I tried white fish fillets this week, wrapped in foil and 30 minutes in the oven. No oil, just dried herbs for flavouring with boiled potatoes and carrots. A new thread about recipes would be nice.

It was -14c this morning and we haven't warmed up much... -9c at the current time. I'm happy to hear you're so nice to animals, CatLover. That's very kind of you.

I suddenly remember this from High School flirting... I think animals are great, and I'm against animal testing... But you can test me, I'm a serious animal! I loved to say that one to the cute young ladies... I always got a smile... or at least a smirk... ;)

NOt getting notifications anywhere to my emails now. Never mind.

It's been bloody cold and blustery. No snow here unfortunately, but plenty elsewhere. Haven't felt so brilliant lately so been resting up.

Chris, fancy doing yardwork in -10C, omg, i'm cold just thinking about it.

Carol, sincerely hope hubby's scan goes well. Praying for a good outlook for you both.

Cat, I have one elderly moggie left now. She's grey like me. I discovered my hair went more grey when it came back after chemo. It's dyed dark now though (so my cat still recognises me).

Buff, hope the gallstones don't cause you too much trouble until you get them removed.

No real plans for today, just to get through it nice and warm lol.

Stay safe all.

No snow here either.....7c calm and sunny.....Les has had the scan so now we wait for 2 or 3 wks for the result.
There was a nice article in todays paper regarding real xmas trees. A company rents them out for about £25 for the xmas season. They're in a pot and instructions are given re; watering etc. A pot is left in the hole they were in and they're put back with the family's name on should they want them next year. They can last for 6yrs.Brilliant for those who feel uncomfortable for murdering a tree which has taken 6-7 yrs to grow.It would be nice if it takes off around the globe.....Bruce the Spruce, ?

I never could understand the cutting down and then decorating what has become a dead tree. Its common to see a cut tree errected downtown in many cities, I wonder why they will not grow one and decorate it each year and celebrate its growth. I got the snowmobiles going, but with poor snow conditions there is nowhere to go, skiing will also have to wait. I may bottle the batch of wine that is ready and start a new batch later.

WE have a have a forecast for damaging storms tomorrow. With a bit of luck they may reach up as far as Frazer island a put the fire out it is burning worse than ever. It has been very hot with temps above 30c on the coast and up to 47c out west. It is really knocking me around. Ron.

Christmas party at yours for the weather whingers Buff ? ……….7c and showery here. Walked thru the park to see if the weekend market was on.
Had no intention of mixing with the xmas shoppers mind. A passing couple told us there was a 45 miute wait to get in !!!!!
Walked back through the park as we intended.

Hi All
The weather here is very cold with snow showers, on went the teddy bedding yesterday.
My son Michael decided to go back to the girlfriend not happy about it he is 31 so not a child anymore.
I hope Carol that your hubby's test results come back ok.
Spooky sorry to see you have not been well hope you feel better for Christmas.
I watched a program Surviving Covid it was about four men who were on ventilators because of covid they were all very ill they were in their early 60's
It brought it home just how serious this virus is.
Unfortunatly one man died but the rest recovered enough to go home even though they had organ failure and cardiac arrest & stroke.
My diabetic blood test came back ok no need for meds which i am very happy about.
I hope everyone stays safe and relatively healthy. Valx🎅

Glad your tests were good Val. Hoping your husbands tests are ok Carol. MY brother had another PSA test. It was 7.8 last one and this one came in at 2.6, go figure. The Frazer island fire is getting worse daily. It is the worst fire in the islands history. There are 15 aircraft working on it and a million litres of water were dropped on it yesterday with another 737 tanker arriving today. The weather is not helping with high temps over 30c and strong northerly winds.
I am struggling to walk or even sit at the moment my lower back is so bad. It always happens at this time of the year. Trying to sleep in high temps I toss and turn so much it wrecks my back. Ron.

WE have just had a massive two part storm roll thru this evening. The first hit us at 5pm and dropped 40mm of rain with so much lightning it was like a war zone. The second wave was just as bad and hit us at 9pm. There was torrential rain and even more thunder and lightning. The power went off at 9.10 pm and has only just come back on. I have been laying on the bed listening to the radio and wondering if I would have to dump the contents of my freezer tomorrow. I got up and turned on most of the things I had turned off. I had to reset my modem to get it to fire up. It was one of the worst days I can remember for heat. Where I live spent most of the day hovering around 37-8 c and the humidity was thru the roof. I can go to bed now that my cpap is available again.Ron.

Ron, I'm sorry you're having such a tough time with everything at the moment. I'm surprised you don't snuggle up in the freezer, mate! I think i might be tempted to if i were there. Why don't they have something like a cold room down there?

Really foggy out still but the hard frost has finally gone now. It's so cold though, just 4C for us today in the Midlands. I've treated myself to a king size electric blanket to wrap myself in on the sofa. My last bill was ridiculous. £70 for a month! Oh, i do feel the cold. So does my elderly cat. She hasn't been going out of late. She's never not had a day of going out before. Mind, i do hope to outlive her. I love her to bits.

Some good news! I used to go out on day trips with friends. It's a local charity that run these and they're going to get going in January again. Looks like i might get a bit social next year, lol. I have missed it so badly. My last social was exactly a year ago. What a sad life lol. Mind, it's not so unusual for us Crohnies to hide in the loo most days. I did that loads when i lived in Cornwall as loos are few and far between. I've got something to look forwards to. whoopee.

Carol, that's a long wait. My ultrasound scan nurse told me outright whilst she was doing it. Mind, she clicked the photo button plenty, so i did know. Can't believe it's that long. Unless they want a quiet Xmas. Anything is possible with the NHS at the moment. My onc said he'd give two months supply of chemo meds and i only got one. I do have an appointment with the pharmacist on Xmas eve mind. Don't know if i should go for bloods though. My McMillan nurse said not to. Weird!

Glad the diabetic blood test was ok, Val.

Imagine Buff without much snow. Seems strange. Technically it's supposed to be winter now. You'll just have to content yourself with the wine and staring at the snowmobiles. You'll be pleased when the snow arrives, Buff. I bet the cat can still go out lol. I planted my tree last year but it died. I've put a pretty acer in its place now. It's lost it's pretty leaves though.

Stay safe all.

Well that was a newsie post Di,...….At least you've got something to look forward to in the New Year..
Val,good news re: your diabetic Mines been borderline for 2yrs and my next test is in May .I promised the nurse I'd do something about it,so no choc or icecream for me (after xmas) 4c here and wet now after a reasonable start.
Ron me darlin', I really feel for you,That heat would kill me for sure.I get a serious sweat on when I do the ironing.I'm not kidding !!!

By comparison it has been very quiet around here, I could hear some snowmobiles running, but there is not enough snow yet to properly run on without wearing out the components. I can wait, and my back will agree. While covid has not affected me too much, and life goes on normally out here in the boonys, its not quite the same when listening to the chaos on the news. Now they are saying that they don't know where most of the 300 billion plus in government spending went to during this pandemic and the government won't say. Between this and the fires going on down under, the world is full of hurt. -4C and gray.

Well I survived the night but as usual Mt panorama acted as a lightning attracter again and during the night I experienced quite a few of those flash bangs where the lightning strike and the thunder arrive at the same time. One of two is ok but after five of six you start to feel picked on. The storm made it to frazer island. There was rain but with the size of the blaze it didn't have a chance of putting the fire out. They are predicting storms again tonight .Ron. PS Carol it is 39c in Perth today.

3C out there today. I'm really impressed with the cold. Miraculously i have great tits flitting about my garden and feeders unfortunately robin is chasing them off. I've even seen a mr. blackbird too. Feeling pleased.

First jabs are being rolled out. Not so sure i want one. What do we think of auto-immune issues with this vaccine? I am slightly worried but want to get on with life. Can't think the jab will offer more than if we have had covid anyhow and perhaps it is only valid for 6 months like they say. I'm so confused.

Cold and raining....I agree with you Di. re: the covid jab but we're damned if we do and damned if we don't..It's far to early to know how it's going to go. We're like Buff in the sense that the lockdowns haven't made much difference to our life..We lead a quiet one and only have each other. As to birds....our local park over the road has seen fit to put notices up requesting that we don't feed the birds, ducks or squirrels as it's attracting rats......This 2020 yr old public area is mostly wooded with allotments (veggie gardens) on two sides and is 50yds from the bank leading down to the riverside, which has a working quay. There have been rats as long as there have been people,as we all know. Winter is NOT a good time to stop feeding birds...Bloody nosey do-gooders get on my wick....Of course I wouldn't want one in the house,a rat nor a do-gooder.I will continue with the feeding and when no ones looking I will continue to take down the notices..

Yes, Carol and Chris, i'm hoping initial stages will take a few months really so we can hear of any issues. Tee Hee, I'd carry on feeding the birds too. Fancy them putting up notices just as its getting to be very cold days with such hard frosts they can't get their beaks in the soil to get worms. You made me laugh with the do gooders and rats, lol. And as for taking the signs down, i'll post bail for you if it's not too much. didn't go out at all today.

Not so bad Di only 29c , Frazer got some more rain but is still burning. We are expecting some more rain this weekend and WA is expecting floods thru the nw. to the ne. We finished up with around 55mm for the storm the other night. I hope we get a bit ore rain for the dams or they are talking about recycling water, Yuk. Ron.

-1C Sunny. The stagnate weather continues, but there is going to be some change in the pattern with slightly colder air returning with a bit of snow, but it doesn't look like much. I cut some dead trees yesterday for firewood. There is that feeling of satisfaction when cutting down large dead trees with that big crunch with no harm done.

4C here this morning. No real wind or breeze to make it feel colder but omg, the garden looks like death. The frosts and freezes so far have had that killing effect on the last of flora around here. Nature is looking its worst at the moment. Mind, i do have bluebell (non-native) coming through. Wonder if my snowdrops will show some stems soon.

It is a bit cooler here today(just under 30c). They are suggesting we could get over 100 mm of rain over the weekend and into next week. It will almost certainly put the fire on Frazer island out. I'm not really in the mood for dealing with that much rain at the moment. My lower back is spasming non stop and I am getting almost no sleep. All of a sudden my doctor is very concerned about it. Apparently he went back through years of my medical reports and found some from rheumatologists that suggested I had some serious problems with my back and that none of them had been addressed. Probably my fault as I was trying to survive cancer and failing kidneys at the time . Such is life . Ron.

Hi All
Ron you seem to be getting it from all angles what with the weather I could not stand the heat, you also have to put up with pain which must get you down.
I wish I could feed the birds but i have a moggy called Chloe she rules the roost, we have just bought her a new toy for Christmas.
My hubby & I went to Blackburn yesterday to do some shopping it was a miserable experience.
I can't get in the mood to be festive at the moment like the rest of you i spend alot of time indoors.
Di I hope you are feeling better get some teddy bedding and you will be toasty all night.
Stay safe everyone Valx

Very, very wet and blustery feeling colder than 6c...…….Catlover,you can start a thread yourself on menus, maybe head it WHAT DID YOU EAT TODAY and WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO EAT INSTEAD ? hahaha I'm sure it would get lots of input
Good evening, today I ate 2 mince pies with squirty cream and 20 Quality Street chocolates. What I should have eaten was
steamed fish and veggies. As I had ovarian pain that would not quit all day yesterday, I let my healthy diet slide today. Still feeling spaced out. Did not want to go to A&E in a pandemic as cases are rising in London.
Stuck to my settee as usual.

Rain yesterday afternoon and overnight. We had around 90mm Just over the border in northern NSW there were several readings of 150mm or more in 24hrs.It is now heading my way. Unfortunately I expect my flat to be flooded by Sunday night. I am not happy about it as I am not in a physical condition to be able to save my property. They won't insure my place because it floods every year and there is no affordable housing on the Sunshine coast. It is no use calling the state emergency services, they just tell me to evacuate. Ron.

I'm sorry you're feeling under par Val but I hope the mince pies and Quality St. helped...Can't believe you counted them hahaha

Could you not get a pump Ron ? Far better than a bucket .
I see they closed the beaches in Perth as a 15ft Great White is hanging around at Coterill.. No paddling there today.

Damp and dreary here but a mild 7c.

Hi All
I hope you can get help Ron I would put you up if I could, life can be so unfair at times.
The weather in Scotland is to be a white Christmas but the rest of us it is rain rain & more rain oh & wind.
My Hiatus Hernia is playing up at the moment so not eating very much.
I have doubled the Omeprezole for today.
Look after yourselves Val xx

Things got worse overnight. Parts of the Tweed river catchment on the Gold cast received up to 386 mm overnight. We had rain all night but only 60 mm or so. A low has formed off the south of Frazer island and we are expecting 100mm a day for the next three days. Unfortunately I would have to dig a 12 ft hole behind my back wall to get a pump deep enough to be any good and it is all under concrete. Buff it is crazy with housing here. For every vacant property on the coast there are around 150 applicants and rents are often around $400.00 a week. Yes Carol that was quite an impressive great white over in WA .It was in beautiful condition and was tagged and released by WA fisheries. The rain is falling at moment and the wind is picking up. It is expected to reach gale force sometime tomorrow and it is all coinciding with the spring high tides. Ron.

It's -10c and dropping steadily here with another beautiful star filled sky on display. The expected temperature tomorrow morning is -15c. I can believe it. Ron, I know a few buddies that went to OZ after high school to work/party for a couple years. They all told me it was expensive to live there, but holy cow! I had no idea it was that bad. I feel for you.

6c and raining hard.We managed a walk down to the riverside before the rain, and it was as busy as ever. The car park was rammed even though the cafes and take aways are closed due to lock-down.Def.no 2mtrs apart either. There will be trouble ahead mark my words.

-15C partly cloudy. Expecting some snow with the incoming cold front. This should help firm up the ice on the waterways, as a more wintery pattern is trying to establish itself. Ron that is expensive living you have. Unfortunately its catching up here rapidly, and poverty is rampant. The government in power is of no help with the proposal to raise fuel taxes through the roof, chasing good work out of the country. It strange times we live in with our governments being so out of touch with the needs of the people.

Nearly ended all of my problems last night. I had taken the garbage out and pulled myself up thru the door by grabbing the frame unfortunately my right foot landed on the doormat. My feet got to chest height and I dropped onto the door sil with my right hip and back hitting first. I don't know how it happened my watch got ripped apart. I found one piece of the heavy meta link band but I have not found the watch yet. I have spent the night in Sunshine coast hospital. They x-rayed my back and scanned my neck. No fractures in either but both are sore . They only let me out an hour ago. By some miracle the flat is not flooded. I think it was because it was blowing so hard a lot of the rain got blown aloft by the wind. Ron.

OMG Ron..I'm glad you're OK (ish) and that you had the sense to go to the hospital. You're going to feel the hurt for a good while so please take it easy...……..Not a bad day here so had a walk to the village. Very happy to get my aching bones back home though.

A brighter day today. Not too cold either. one more week until the shortest day. I didn't get to see the meteor showers due to low cloud and drizzle.

Ron, that sounds dreadful. You are going to be hurting for a while i reckon. It takes a while to get over falls as we age. I'm skinny and clatter to the ground painfully. Glad nothing broke though. Awful rain too. I would expect some flooding with that much downfall. So pleased your place wasn't flooded. That would have been impossible to deal with.

Lucky it was not worse Ron. Falls are nasty, always waiting to happen. Hope you are not badly bruised up by it all. Colder, -18 with a fresh wind from the northwest. Went for a short snowmobile ride yesterday, the next door neighbor announced he is retiring and joining the club so to speak. Covid forced his wife to shut down her hairdressing business, more of us living in the slow lane.

Thanks everyone, I am feeling extremely fragile today. I found the remains of my watch. It was still running fine ,though it was as beat up as I was. Casio make a good watch. I was going to chuck the floor mat but upon reflection if I had not slipped into the entrance and landed on my hip I would most likely to have bashed the back of my head on one of the hard wood steps. I regularly seem to have good bad luck. There are floods in SEQld and northern NSW. Some areas in the Gold coast hinterland received nearly 800 mm. Because the rain was generated by a strong east coast low many of the beaches in SEQld have been ravaged by heavy seas, similar problems in northern NSW. It will have a severe effect Ron.

Hang in there my friend!

another clear sunny day that isn't so cold. Glad you've survived a bit so far Ron. Hopefully all the bruising will start to ease, however, you should take movement very easy to start with. there, I'm sounding like your old granny, Ron.

Sorry there's little snow in Canada at the moment too. I'm sure the snow will give you as much grief soon as Australian weather causes Ron.

We officially have a new strain. I suppose our vaccines won't cope with that, but then there are plenty of people who have someone in their household who ended up in ICU or even died and yet their partner's didn't even contract it even though they were at home with them. the virus is weird! Stay safe

I hope you are safe and well. Having your home regularly flooded sounds awful. It happens a lot in the United Kingdom also like in Wales. News footage most winters of rivers having burst their banks and people piling up sand bags outside their doors. Mostly, it's no use and they have to live in a caravan in their gardens until their homes dry out. Sometimes, the army is called in to help as well as the fire brigade. It's blamed on global warming. An appeal on line to people in your local area might provide the help you need.

Hello, it's a cheap Christmas this year compared to "normal years". Covid means people are not spending in bars, restaurants and theatres. Closed again from midnight tonight in London. My cat, a "Bengal" lookalike, plays with the shiny wrappers. Cue the violins. Still pondering whether to get a tree or not. The lights in my close resemble Blackpool illuminations. Tacky.

Good morning, it's hard to get out of bed when the duvet is so snug. If your joints ache, then walking to the shops or the doctor's surgery can seem like a hike in the Alps. My patch of garden is full of weeds and my footpath has moss and dead leaves. I'm ignoring gardening until next spring.
People throw litter on the ground and there is no one to collect it. I want to move from this neighbourhood to a little piece of heaven after the pandemic. Drinking soya milk and hoping to shed my blubber like a seal.

Drives me insane when I walk the beach and see litter. I pick up when I can but don’t always remember gloves and bag. Having a dog now forces me out more which does help with getting out even on dreary days. If anyone asked what you want for Christmas say yard work, that’s what I told my daughters :). High king tide Kai was excited.

A balmy 10C this morning. I am not feeling well at all at the moment. I'm not sneezing so much but hell, my head feels like it has a head cold and i've got a very aching body. I did go to the supermarket yesterday and totally knackered myself. Didn't even get anything good for Xmas, although i have ordered a couple of bargain 'new with tags' leather boots. That's my xmas pressie to me this year lol.

Haven't been able to order my repeat prescription this month. Just can't get through on the phone. It's ridiculous and i've run out of some already. Things still aren't going well in the UK. Never mind, stay safe all.

I agree.I don't know how folk can be bothered to tell the truth.OK if you've got little kids I suppose. I've been stocking up on sweets and nuts because come the New Year I'll be dieting.I'm not big but am borderline diabetic and promised my nurse last May so will over indulge with sweets 'til they're all gone. And no sharing.....I bet your cat is a beauty.....Wet and miserable here today but mild

Please take good care of yourself Di, and get help long before you need it.Luckily I've managed to get all our 'scrip's but not without a struggle.Don't know what will happen after Brexit.

Hey just wanted to start a new thread about the weather in your area because there has been significant changes throughout the world. I love to learn about the weather temps in different parts of the world.

It is winter time now  since the middle of January now is cold it has not being near the temperatures for the Northwest of Ontario. Today is -14c but feels like -26c...still far below the colder temps!

Show us your weather!:ycool:
Good evening. I live in Cape Town South Africa. It is summer & heavenly sunny on this side. The South Easter is blowing a bit but it is really glorious weather cause the wind temper the heat. A great time to be on Holiday here &loads to do&to see. Do visit if u can. A great place to be

The weather here is garbage. We' re getting constant showers and storms. Lismore in northern NSW got over 200 mm overnight. The monsoon trough has activated over the northern territory and there are two cat 5 cyclones currently active in the Coral sea, one heading for Fiji and the other near Tonga. Either or both have the ability to impact the Australian coast. The swell generated by both is already adding to severe beach erosion on the east coast. My back and hip are both giving me a lot of grief, my mobility is seriously limited. My nephrologist has told me repeatedly that if pain gets too bad , take some naprosyn (nsaid) . I have taken two and my inr has gone from 2.6 to 3.7. One of the doctors from my medical centre rang to tell me to drop my warfarin dose. ron.

Well, It's been reasonably mild with the last couple of days starting off around -7c and reaching a high of roughly 0c. Hang in there all you folks that are on the mend. I'm nursing two blackened big toes... I should have turned on the flippin light before I ran into the coffee table. I have big feet so it's a pretty common thing for me to stub a toe. Or two. My best to all.

Again, brighter and less cold out. Little wind and little chance of rain. All leaves seem to be laying black and rotten now. I slipped but didn't hit the ground. I hate the detritus when it gets to this phase.

Ron, i've seen the damage from flooding in Aus on youtube again. That cyclone on it's way to Fiji looks nasty. Simply can't believe your situation there. Hope it changes all for the better soon.

One of the doctors from my medical centre rang to tell me to drop my warfarin dose. ron.
Damned if you do and damned if you don't Ron...If you were in the UK I'd suggest a hot bath and a hot water bottle....do you even know what a hot water bottle is ? Feel well soon x

Or two. I'm sure not a cuss passed you're lips Chris...

9c with a clear blue sky....we drove along to the marina where they're dismantling an old boat.I think it began life as a leisure cruiser, then it was commissioned to serve as one of the Dunkirk "little boats"that brought our heroes back home during World War 2. It eventualy ended up here and served as a restaurant and wedding venue.Only the hull remains now and it looks like they're going to either lift it out or tow it out of the marina on 21st.Hoping to get down to see her off.

Yes Carol , a hot water bottle is what you fill from the cold water tap. The top half of the NT and the Kimberly are covered by the Monsoon trough with a cyclonic low spinning up off the Kimberly coast. NSW is receiving some heavy rain from severe storm cells resulting in some flash flooding. We missed the severe storms predicted for coastal regions in the SE last night but they did hit the Toowoomba area where a farmer is missing presumed drowned when a wall of water swept down a dry creek . He was checking his stock. We only have preliminary reports from Fiji after cat5 cyclone swept over the island group last night. There are few reports regarding casualties or damage due to loss of communications. The Fiji govt has declared a state of disaster. Ron.

Well, here comes our 3 weeks of rain. It's bloody horrible out and i'm only going to do the bird feeding outside today. Not so cold though.

What is required in Aus is plenty of cold rooms. Bit like a fridge, they should be build into everyones homes. Other than that, perhaps a water bottle full of ice might help, Ron. I'm feeling for you.

Sounds interesting Carol. I like to see monuments and stuff off too. I'd certainly visit London if we could see off Westminster though.

I'm feeling better today. Don't know what i had but omg, my body ached so badly and i was sneezing and blowing my nose but no real Covid signs though which is great.

I have have filled my hottie with ice on occasion Ron....Hope you feeling a wee bit better every day.

It is hard to work out what to do at night Di. For the past week the overnight humidity has been at 95%. I sleep with my fan on high. If I dont have a sheet covering me I risk getting a chill from the sweat evaporating. My poor old washing machine gets overworked washing my sheets and pillowslips every couple of days. There is a lot of damage in Fiji and two dead so far but rescuers have not been able to reach remote areas yet. Still a lot of showers and heavy swell along the beaches which are covered in logs and debris washed out of the rivers and creeks.Ron.

I'm back. Earlier in the week I was about to go for a ski, while getting the ski wax out I suddenly blacked out and fell to the floor like a pile of bricks. My heart was fluttering wildly and had a blood pressure of 95 over 85 with a pulse of 192 when I took my BP. Skiing was out of the question. I went into emergency and to make this short they diagnosed me with atrial fibrillation. There will be some more tests to be done, but at least I know why I sometimes feel weak and like garbage at times. Today I woke up feeling fine, I may go with the bunch for a snowmobile ride later on.

Commiserations Buff, I now the feeling well. I will be on warfarin for the rest of my life. Warfarin does not necessarily stop the af but it greatly reduces the likelihood of blood clots forming during an attack. Good luck with it mate and please don't underestimate the seriousness of it.
Of course it is Carol, we have mudcrabs . Ron. PS We have an outbreak of covid in Sydneys northern beaches. That is where most of the yachties live. They have cancelled the boxing day Sydney to Hobart yacht race for the first time in over 70 years. Ron.

Hello, it's raining again here in London like someone turned on the tap. The cost of water keeps rising so I should be going hippy and washing my hair in rain water. Mild and no white Christmas this year. The government is now introducing zone 4 and telling people to behave as if they have Covid. People cannot travel to see their loved ones. It's rubbish. Being psychic, I already knew they would introduce zone 4.
If you put your palm on your screen, I will send you happy vibes.

6c and another fine day earlier on but a few showers this afternoon....Crowds at the market again but we dodn't go in ...again.

A lot of people are not taking this virus seriously and I fear there will be trouble ahead with those of us who have been so careful paying the price.
Buff my friend please do as Ron says and don't underestimate you latest scare.Make sure your friends are aware of it too.Better than sorry.

I am between a rock and a hard place since treatments involved are blood thinners and I have a bleeding disorder related to Chrons. Its going to be difficult going forward. With the way I feel I wonder if I am near the tipping point. I went snowmobiling with the neighbor and his wife. While I enjoyed it I had to cut the trip short and let them go on while I went back home. I can see that I don't have the same endurance as they do and are similar in age as I. The ski wax remains on the shelf where I left it when I fell. -8C Gray.

Regular showers and much colder today. Things are looking very bad here. Even worse..... My nephew tried to hang himself on Thursday. His girlfriend tried to save him. The para's got his heart going again but his brain is so swollen and he's in an induced coma in ICU. No visitors and only my sister can phone. Feeling miserable. another Xmas alone for me. but i'm not the only one on here that does that which is nice to know really.

Take care all. Stay safe.

Hello, I grew up skying in the Italian Alps and although not very good, thoroughly enjoyed it. I used to go to dry ski slopes in London for fun. My family are super fit and love to go skiing. I am not much older but my stamina and balance are rubbish these days and I as I have asthma, I feel limited in what I can do.
Now, as I am indoors and bored I gamble online, every day. It's an adrenaline rush that boosts my mood if not my finances.
The UK is big on the National Lottery, scratch cards, horse racing etc... It's my guilty pleasure. This month I won £400.00 which means I could buy decent food and presents. Otherwise, It would have been pawning jewellery and the food bank.
Welcome to Tory Britain !🥳

The northern Monsoon has spawned a trough that has dragged heavy rain from the Northern territory down into outback NSW and Victoria. They said LaNinya would bring heavy summer rain to Australia and it appears to be working. Not much from this lot for Queensland but we are expecting more frequent cyclones. The humidity is terrible . It is 1120pm and the humidity is around 75%. I had my INR done today but it has only dropped from 3.7 to 3. 1 is normal but with atrial fib I have to aim for 2.5. I have an appointment to see my gp on Thursday so the medical centre sent me an urgent recall today to see my gp about test results. Talk about anal. Ron.

Bloody hell friends, not a good week for you.Sending hugs and positive thoughts to you .

6c and damp. here. It's the shortest day too..Also Jupiter and Saturn align for the first time in 800yrs and will show as a bright star in the North West at sunset.....Probably won't see it because of the cloud cover tough

Missed the planetary alignment yesterday and we have total cloud cover today. Aside from that Carol, i thought it was supposed to be in the south west lol. No wonder i couldn't spot it yesterday. Today is very slightly longer too. That's something.

Mild, grey and very damp with showers. I still have to go out to get stuff in for Xmas. It's just me so not too bothered. Got myself some very nice slippers from Aldi. I love them.

Hope the health picks up, Ron. CatLover, my balance and energy levels are dreadful too. I completely understand you. I am not the sporty one that i used to be. If i could buy energy it would be top of the shopping list.

Hello, fellow sufferers. Browsing Amazon online for Christmas offers. Not much there and prices can shoot up overnight. Bought two Petface cat bowls on offer. Not very exciting. The vets are only dealing with emergencies so pet owners must be having to cope with ailments by themselves. My old cat Fifi understands "treatments" as long as they involve brushing and oil and cotton wood pads to clean her ears. She purrs. Show her the claw clipping scissors and she's not so keen. Come 9pm and Macy who's a year and a half starts miaowing that it's bed time. She needs neutering but that has to wait as well. So, "pee pee accidents are frequent". Disinfectant floor wipes, 2 minutes and it's done.
I got a text to remind me about my asthma review, by telephone not face to face. Am I bothered ? Nope.

I am not taking much notice of what's going on around me at the moment. It s hard to see through a fog of pain. I have noticed at the shops if you smile at anyone they reply with a scowl. It was 34c today with very high humidity. It is forecast to rain on Christmas day. That suits me fine I wasn't planning on doing aything anyway. Ron.

Was predicted to have lots of rain today, so i wore my worst to Northampton to get my bloods done. No rain. It's mild. Not too bad at the shops, finding somewhere to park is the problem. So, i'm in for Xmas now i think. It's going to be rather wet and very cold on Xmas day. I'm having a lazy time. Hope you all rest up too.

My neighbor stepped in to buy me groceries as I am leery of the time it takes to go through the grocery store with the fear of having a spell. We are expecting a big snowstorm. I look forward to it, winter storms are interesting to watch from home, but relatively harmless. We badly need the snow. I will just have to go slow when it comes time to clean up, but I will have plenty of time to do it
