What song is bouncing around your head?

I always enjoyed the humor in the John Lennon song! Had me thinking of an old saying to I used to hear as a kid, finish your plate of food. There are starving kids in China. I guess North Korea would be a substitute for China today.

Can't comment on the hockey commentary. I know little about the sport. Had friends growing up though that played. I believe a few from my neighborhood even won college hockey scholarships. Don't recall. I didn't know them well but remember seeing them playing hockey on the pond out back of our place. Looked like fun but to cold for me!

One of Canada's famous musicians had a girlfriend living close to my parents Florida home. Neil Young, or the story I was told, would skinny dip in the pool out back with his girlfriend up the street from my parents place. The joke was that one had to be careful when walking or boating around that house. You might see more of the hippy than desired.

I can believe there were some serious nudist activities going on at the hippie retreat. ;) Neil Young has some great songs, I would prefer if he kept his pants on to sing harvest moon though! ;)

Yes! I can get behind and support that. No nude Neal Young running around singing or not singing while in the neighborhood. The board should put it to be vote. I'm certain it would pass. :rof: Then again there are some colorful neighbors in that neighborhood. One guy that owns many restaurants in towen used to have an outdoor shower! I saw he removed that shower last week, likely to the relief of many that would pass that way.

As soon as I read this I remembered I had ice cream lol

I can probably google and find a different answer than I'm thinking, but yes agree Jerry Garcia and our neighborhood neighbor appear to enjoy eating ice cream to an excess. :p

I thought this thread was winding down. Nice to see it still has some life remaining. Music certainly had helped me over the years with my IBD, in taking my mind off the condition at times, and boredom sometimes that goes along with the disease. It can all to often for me be a case of to tired to do much, but to awake to sleep.

I live along the ocean in Florida, with a dock out back. Heard the other day from a neighbor that fishes off his dock that he has caught 5 bull sharks this year! I've thought about swimming off the dock a few times in the past. I've changed my mind on that of late.

I'm very sorry about the ruff time you are going through. I couldn't imagine. Admittedly I'm not very good at address those kind of issues. My natural inclination is to good naturally joke around. That works when in front of a person where subtle nuances can be noticed in expression. Over the internet joking can be poorly understood and often misinterpreted. I don't know why I'm that way. It's a birth defect I'm afraid. Then again learning to live with this long term IBD disease could be the cause of the joking.

Thank you for your service. Along those lines you might get a kick out of this. I've seen in constant discussion with my father about Vietnam of late. He was an officer there. Lately there has been many news articles about liver flukes Vietnam veterans might have caught. The scary news articles go that liver flukes caught while in Vietnam after drinking Vietnamese water, is now killing US Vietnam veterans. This is 50 years after service in the country. Veterans should test now! articles say. It has dad worried.

My father and I differ greatly when it comes to the American medical community. Dad thinks highly of our medical system. I don't. I think of our medical community as far to often preying upon the weak and vulnerable. Some work done is good and helpful, but much of it is quack, in my opinion. it's a gold rush situation Anyway, to wrap this up before I write a book, I've won the Vietnam battle of the Flukes in our family! The war continues on though.

Saw a big snake in the backyard the other day. Didn't care for that. I don't like snakes. No alligators seen thankfully.

can's let this thread die out , I can't live without music , I grew up in a home that was blessed with parents that both could sing , every road trip was full of song from start to finish , I was immersed in music from opera to country to pop and rock , you name it , music can help you when you are sad , when you are happy , all you have to do is here a song and it can bring back so many memories , this thread was a great idea and I am constantly hearing new acts and long may it continue ,

Music has been appreciated in my family as well, with instrument players and listening audiophiles even though I suspect they would shy away from that description. It's true though. For me music has been a wonderful distraction and sometimes a source of uplifting with this terrible disease of mine, and ours that we unfortunately share.

Heard this one the other day. it was my first radio recording I recall. I had been given as a gift a radio with a tape deck. With a blank tape I recall recording this song off the radio while living in California.

Have to admit, I never understood Metalica. They are a popular band though so maybe I should find a way to enjoy them, somehow someway.

I remember this harder rock band that had a song I enjoyed. It didn't receive all that much notice in America but I thought it had good energy and deserved better attention.

I loved the Bangles when growing up! Quirky song but we all did the Egyptian dance at some point in my HS.

I know right, I had my mom and sister walking around my hospital room doing it, it was awesome....made me laugh...which was needed. I love my core family.

Agree whole heartedly, family can be great even when they walk or dance funny.

Last night I began watching and recorded the 1932 movie The Mummy staring Boris Karloff. It's been good. I didn't expect that, as the older films can all to often be a bit cheesy I've thought.

I've had this song in my head for a few days.

Skating away on the the thin ice of a new day by Jethro Tull. This song has been in my head for weeks after playing a CD.

Tartan plaid and open shirts! :rof: Very 70ish. I enjoyed the video too.

Open shirts is also somewhat typical fashion around here on the beach where I live. It still can be surprising to me seeing people riding bicycles around in their small bathing suites.

Yesterday I played piano with the jazz band at a Christmas party at work.

During the night I had Christmas music playing on auto-repeat in the radio in my head.

Found out earlier that a high school classmate and later apartment roommate is well known today. He and wife are famous in the fashion industry. It was nice to see someone have such success that I used to hang out with.

As a result of it had me hearing this song.

THanks Chris,

Yeah, good and bad memories with that song. Great to see an old acquaintance. having success. On the other hand, it was right after we shared an apartment that I became seriously ill altering my life greatly. It would have been nice to have been given an opportunity to have an adventure, try and have success but due to this IBD condition it wasn't meant to be. On a more positive note, been feeling quite well of late I feel. Fingers crossed I'm a very late bloomer in life.

I am a unique individual that has listened to a variety of genres of music, no matter what age group.

Old Stuff....

Ella Fitzgerald "Too Darn Hot" ( 1956 )

Sarah Vaughan "Black Coffee" ( 1949 )

Mississippi John Hurt "Nobody Cares For Me" ( late 1920's )

Coleman Hawkins & Ben Webster "You'd Be Nice To Come Home To" ( Tenor Saxophone ) ( 1959 )
