Hi.

Bit of a new thing for me, I had a massive flareup 3 weeks ago (on 80mg of humira). within days the same GI bleed going loads to the loo. They decided to wack the prednisolone upto 100mg again and give me Colifoam. things seemed to be cooling down then last Friday I had a break of wind (sorry for being gross). And basically I had like a lumpy green texture there was quite a lot and since them I'm barely peeing. When I do pee its like taking ages to even get a stream started and the amount is just pathetic. I went back to the GP he did no digital exam and just gave me more colifoam.

I just wonder please has anyone experienced something like this because this is new for me. Ive had no further blood or green but the entire tail end just feels like someone has put a hot coal under me.

Steroids cause water retention, so it is possible that you are absorbing and not excreting as much. If this is the case, check your feet and hands for sign of swelling that you haven't had previously. For me, I used to get marks from my socks.

The output does sound low though, keep an eye on it and if it doesn't improve soon, get it checked.

sorry for the delay had a swine of a few days.
2am this morning almost didn't make the loo in time since then passed around 7,000ml of urine. I actually cant believe how much is coming out. but feel so much better for it.

I had something similar when my flare was at it's worst... when it eased off a little, it all sorted itself out. I speculate that the flare caused my colon to swell/distend. And that this may have put pressure on my bladder, kidneys or urethra. Also, inflammation in the colon can prevent it from drawing fluids out of stool... leaves you with watery stool, and this can cause dehydration. So, you might be low on fluids.. people with watery diarrhea tend to cut back on their fluid intake. It seems logical, but can be counter-productive. If you get dehydrated, you risk forming stones... and kidney stones can decrease urine flow. I have noticed myself that 5-ASA drugs, though I don't see any direct benefit from them, will increase my urine output. I speculate that they sooth inflammation, even if only on a temporary basis, and that allows the colon to absorb more fluids. And that may cause an increase in urine output. Since your doctor is aware, keep at him if this doesn't improve.
