I was diagnosed with Crohns in 2001, about 3 years after my little brother was diagnosed (at 13). I have been through many colonoscopies, upper gi's, barium follow throughs, blood tests etc. I have also been on many different meds, including steroids, which i have yet to conquer.
My current meds are nexium, apriso, entocort, and effexor xr. I also take b12 shots, and take a multi and calcium and vitamin d. My disease has never truly went into remission, though this remains a constant hope as it is a daily disruption to my life.
I am excited about this forum because I am interested to see if other people are having some of the same issues I am, and what they did to fix them. I am also probably going to have to start Humaira soon and wanted to see what people thought of the drug.

So hello to everyone:) and I look forward to talking with all of you:ybiggrin:

Hello and welcome to the forum :bigwave: I am glad you have decided to join us. I would say a good place to look is the Humira sub forum: http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=59, this way you can read about people's experiences and weigh up the pro's and con's of this.

I take it that along with meds you have also tried diet and seeing if cutting out problem foods help at all? Perhaps even a liquid diet to help the tum calm down? It is a shame that you have not had a full respite from symptoms, if you don't mind me asking what are the ongoing 'issues' that you have had to deal with?

Do have a good nosy arond the forum as there is a lot of really helpful info and support here :)

Wishing you fully well soon

xx

thanks so much for the welcome. I have tried a few diet programs but as soon as I start to feel good, I begin to eat whatever again. Maybe it is a lack of will power, or the fact that I am perpetually under weight, but I have a horrible time sticking to a stringent diet:(
I know there are certain things I cannot eat (green peppers, fried foods) and I know I am not allergic to wheat. Though I may be sensitive to it. ANyway, I will look around and post my symptoms soon. I want to see if there is anyone who has a similar hard time with these symptoms.

Welcome to the forum, I'm so glad you joined!

Do you by chance know what your vitamin B12 and vitamin D levels were last time you were tested? Both are of great interest to me and it's nice to see new members who are already supplementing :) How many IU of vitamin D do you take?

Again, welcome! See you around.
