Butteze those colors are almost surreal. Nice and detailed... must be more of that lush Northwest climate with plenty of moisture?

Heh Benson yea it rains about 6 months out of the year. Up towards Amy it rains a little bit more then down here in PDX land. My friends joke they'd slit their wrists just to see some color on those bleak wintery days but the summer is so worth it.

Nice shots by the way Amy and Lisa!! I keep hoping you guys will post the EXIF info

Hey guys.. If u r having a problem posting pics on here, upload them to your zoints profile... then just copy and paste the link it provides their for the forum.

I'd just suggest you reduce the size of any pics so they fit the std forum display. The link means the forum doesn't eat up a lot of space with photos, and resizing is just a convenience so folks don't have to scroll to see the pix

Is that as clear as your 1st BM of the day or what?

I try and use a small enough size to prevent the scrolling agony which sucks I know =( Hope I haven't done that too much.

Hey Drew.. that wasn't a criticism... just a suggestion about sizing N scrolling for folks who are considering posting pics here. And the Zoints option isn't widely used... If nothing else, setting up a Zoints profile garners some income to the forum which I believe is passed along to the CCFA, and it gives an extremely easy method to post pics on here. Like, the larger photos do require some scrolling; problem is that it carries over so that folks also have to scroll over to read all of the posts in the same thread. its a bit inconvient, but it doesn't harm the forum, okay?

Didn't know that about Zoints .. glad I already had joined last year =)

I didn't take it critically. I've been a member of forums before where people didn't understand that if you post really large images that it can cause havoc with the thread layout and I didn't want to be one of those clueless folk that was doing it. It renders fine on my laptop but that doesn't mean it doesn't mess things up for others who use smaller screen resolutions =)

Well, membership here entitles you to membership in Zoints. Register/join there, login there and upload photos to your Zoints photo album. If you look at the properties of the photos you upload there, underneath will be a list of links so you can copy N paste the link in the appropriate format to the forum (I think it's the 3rd option below the photo - in the info u copy N paste will be IMG code start N end) So, essentially, your post here when your are composing or editing it won't show a picture... just that string of code.. but when you view it, or preview it (in Advanced) you'll see it just as others would - a whole photo. It saves a ton of space on the forum by incorporating just the link, not actual pix.

Well, I lied to you.. it's the 4th option BBcode Full Image... on the right hand side you'll see Select All (in red type - after you double click an image in your Zoints album). Clicking select all highlights all the BBcode... then copy that CTRL C to a post... paste it in... That should give you a viewable image (tho its an embedded link) rather than a link you have to click into to view. Does that make any sense?

When I composed this, what I copied looked like
blah%20blah%20blah
URL] (not a real WWW addy) (then lower case
) or something like that and when you view it, you get the following photo about why dogs hate going for walks with crohnie masters...

Mike, I'm jealous of anyone who can play the guitar, I've never even tried (not even guitar hero, as I for some reason I don't like it), but I've got a lot I could express in song, as I'm a poet/writer recreationally. Someday I'll get around to learning.

Kev, that's awesome, I want a well trained dog to follow around after my messes.

Yeah thats a nice guitar man. I need to get a job and build one myself.

Kev, that's just amazing. I wish my dog could do that I would just kick him out the house for a few minutes instead of actually walking him.lol

Benson, guitars not that hard, try an acoustic and let us know before you get one. A lot of info on learning the guitar yourself on the net.

How much should a decent starter one run Jeff, I figure I should know in case I plunge and get one, if I'm on a disability leave for a bit might be something cool to take up, maybe my artistic side will catch on, hmm?

Benson, i agree with Jeff in that, if you're considering learning guitar from scratch, then go for an acoustic first. once you've got the 'backbones' of chords, strums etc, moving onto electric will be easier. and yes, there are some great guitar tuition vids on youtube.

maybe just look around for a second-hand acoustic to start off with, see if you take to it. i hope you do - i love playing mine, its really calming and therapeutic. my only regret is that i remain self-taught and despite promising myself lessons one day, have never got round to it.

Yep I sent you a pm. Just have fun with it and after the first few weeks of very bad finger pain you will have callouses for life and will be able to touch some of the hottest item out there without a burn. And back to pics:)

Thanks drew (as always)!!! That was taken, btw, while I was fishing on one of the rivers east of town. If I had more room to back up I may have tired to get some water in there too.

Today I'm taking my camera to work (greenhouse) so expect to be looking for a link to a whole album on here tonight and maybe tomorrow ;)

I'll definitely be looking forward to it Lisa. I think I am going to go shooting when I get off work today. I haven't decided where to go yet though.

Yeah that one caught my eye as well. I really enjoy looking at all of these photos. Some of them just seem like they were drawn instead of actually photographed which to me is amazing.

Lisa is a storm chaser, livin' on the edge, eh? :eek2:

I demand an album just for F5's!

Well i dont chase, I just photograph, that one came to me ;) .. and I help out other chasers by letting them call or text me and I post their information online for them :).

I DO plan to do some chasing with a friend this summer, if we get a chance!

Never seen a tornado--yet. Very rare in this province, unfortunately.

theres some really great photo's in there guys and gals, impressive!

did anyone see this photo of that volcano in chili recently?
(this size doesnt really do it justice, there are some huge versions around somewhere, trying to find it!)
1_VOLCANO_461.jpg

That just looks wrong. All the lighting in the clouds and stuff. Looks like something out of a horror film.

It's good to see those flowers after the other pictures. It's like seeing life after seeing death. Nice pictures

Thanks, Jeff. Ya, I figured after having that freaky pic posted on here, we could all use some happy images!

oopsie, i almost feel like i should apologise for my pic:(

i just find nature so absolutely amazing whether it's a volcano, flowers, amazing sunsets or incredible animals.

i will watch what i post in thread from now on.

Oh no that was an amazing picture. I was only joking don't worry about it. I love those types of pictures but aren't they so creepy looking. At first I didn't think it was real.

:D cool cool.

i didnt think it was real either at the start, the fact that it was it what amaezed me so much.

when i can finally find the really big hi-res version i'll post the link, then its truely amazing.

and i'll post one of my favourite "lovely" photo's soon;)

found a link where you can enlage some of the photo's

ya dont worrry about it, jed..guess its kinda my fault too for starting the 'creepy' idea. Unless I see more major thunderstorms there wont be anymore from me :p

Just maybe let us know if u actually took the pic, or simply found it online..

Awe man I want to see several tornadoes over the plains and looking as if they are going to destroy everything in their path.lol

Haha Jeff, I would love to photograph a tornado! Especially since I live in the perfect province to do it.

Last year I came close -- had one hit 2 miles from where I was (i at least got pics of the damage later, and videos of the psycho hail received on my end of it).. then saw 2 funnel clouds out of the same cloud, but it was too dark to photograph!

~ Lisa ~

Awe man that would be a crazy shot. Where I live now they always have tornado watches and warnings but I have not yet seen one. I don't think I really want to see one though as the last time I saw a tornado I was outside at a soccer practice. That was a scary day

Yes, they are a lot more spooky when you're outside! Any major storm is...but then again, that's when you get the best captures of them lol

RHOV those were great. I remember when I went to the louvre and the river seine. Those pics brought back some memories.

I went to Paris for New Years almost 3 years ago, but I remember it so well! I fell in love with the architecture and history of France. I couldn't stop taking pictures. I have a bunch more that will be uploaded sometime in the near future, if I ever decide to procrastinate on studying again (which I undoubtably will).

Yeah I was in Paris in 98' for the World Cup and although I was only 9 or 10 years old I remember certain things so clearly. We had a bum that lived in front of my hotel and the restaurant next door that we always had breakfast at tried to get me drunk.lol Good times

Wow, some great photographers here!

A couple years ago, I was walking back to my dorm around midnight, and there were big puffs of smoke coming out of a stack on top of a building. They'd float half-way across the parking lot, right in front of these tall lights, and then disappear.

I even saw a brief funnel cloud but didnt get any proof!

~ Lisa ~

Yeah those look similar to the clouds we get down near the gulf coast. They freak me out every time. Did they start funnelling I can't quite tell. But my eyes are blurry and I need to get some sleep.lol

Nope Jeff, no rotation. Shelf clouds never have rotation ;).. major wall clouds do, and sometimes they look similar.

Plus this was storm was already in it WEAK stages!

Awe!!!

I was just wondering because maybe it got worse after the shelf clouds. I'm not very good at clouds. Animals yeah, plants somewhat, but weather and clouds I am absolutely terrible with.lol I see a dark cloud and can't distinguish one from another. I remember one day I was at a soccer game and one of the parents were rattling off the names of the clouds in the sky and I jsut couldn't follow.lol

There are many to remember. I myself do not know them all lol. I just have learned the types of storms, and a bunch of their terms, and even figuring out some of the weather models :)

usually it does get severe winds and downpours following the shelf cloud, but like I said, this was in its weak stages so there wasnt much power.

I'm even one of the official storm chasers/reports on a tornado website!

I was born a redneck, raised a suburbanite....I'm from Iowa originally. They scare me because I know them well. lol, and wasn't saying you were one.

We had a tornado warning here last night, take a look at the news and what's hitting Iowa and Illinois. Global warming DOES exist.

i've been following the devastation in your area on the news links, Benson. are you affected by the flooding where you are?

Benson, I'm a huge follower (and a part of) www.tornadovideos.net . So i have heard about what's going on in Iowa and Illinois :/

If you ever want to see the best coverage (and live chases) all the info you need is there. On the forum is the best.. there's the nowcasting section, where everyone updates whats happening as its happening. Hard to miss out on any info.

Just a suggestion! I like trying to keep my friends safe :)

we had a little storm down here recently, nothing like you guys got tho!

we took about 6 photo's at the coast near us and put them together in a panaramic shot (2 different parts on the coast)

Well, I'm affected in 2 ways really, one personally, and the other is from my real father who lives in Iowa still. He's got medical training and is a pharmacist, so recently had joined a volunteer group in Iowa to help with emergencies (not just weather related, anytime the authorities need assistance)....He's been darting around the state wherever they are needed, deploying them at Cedar Rapids last he told me. He doesn't get much cell reception because of the vast flooding/devastation, but told me last I talked that they were helping evacuate some hospitals that were flooding.

As for me, we have a lighter version of what's going on in Iowa now, but we are still on constant storm warnings (because everything that hits Iowa just moves east and hits us), and major flood warnings. I live in a valley only about 200 yards from the Fox River and I also reside in the basement of the house, so I have some caution to take with my room becoming a swamp if it gets too bad.

1993 brought about some record flooding in my town, and this is probably the closest we've come to that since, the river is up tremendously and people are sandbagging their yards nearby.

Thank you Drew, and Jeff, as always! :)

OK, here's some scary stuff for you now:
