Okay - this isn't a great picture by any means, but it is just a freak show.
My already skinny son is trying to look even skinnier at the beach.
It makes me laugh because he's such a goof!

Nah, just good breath control. Maybe he'll be a singer.
If I took a picture of his chapped ass, well that would be a different story.

Couldn't this be used in a court of law by child protective services as evidence of malnutrition??
(He's totally healthy, it's just the angle.)

Lisa - The one with the geese, you can make your eyes play a trick on you, and it looks like mountains in the background. Try it. (It's #41)

Here are some pictures I took around easter. The swamp behind our place was frozen over so I decided to explore :)

The pictures are a little old now, they aren't puppies anymore (But I bet they're still cute!)

I was kinda like MBH son when I was that young too, I had good nutrition, I could show my ribs kinda like that though, you have to remember, males have half the layers of fat, and a higher metabolism. My mom always cooked food I disliked, so I ate but didn't overeat, and we also grew up very strict, like having fruit for dessert, very low sugar cereals, no junk food really.

Here is a much better example of high ISO being used incorrectly by me.

Shot on a sunny day into a dark space, using a circular polarizer with the ISO at 3200, small depth of field @ f4.8 using a fast shutter speed of 1/4000

You can see the grain very clearly here.

An example of better use of ISO. Very low light.
Small DOF again at f4 with a fast shutter speed of 1/4000, ISO 1600
I achieved the effect I wanted in this one.

Here are my newest shots I put together today.
Posted this for my MINI forum but figured I'd share them here too!

(my MINI is named 'Enry) :)

One more.

Fast shutter speed to capture the action.

680707782_00b457b7d3.jpg

shutter speed of 1/250 sec, ISO 200 since it was a sunny day shooting from and into a sunny area. Shot at f8 which provides a reasonably good DOF, not focused just on the subject such you would have with a lower aperature but showing some of the surrounding area as well.

 Thanks!

I have an Olympus Evolt 300 SLR. 4 years old now I think.
Nice camera. No real complaints from me!

I have a BA in Design and photography, but sadly haven't done much
since I've been on disability. :(

I've only been using digital for about 5 years now. Kinda miss film.
The darkroom, the smell of the toxic chemicals...:ylol2:
Ah, good times!

Hey, I have a BFA in media arts and animation (translation: I wanna belong!) :)

great shots, expensive equipment.

I love the shots Wiles, sorry I didn't respond earlier and as usual love the shots Lisa.

Does anyone have any questions about taking different shots? I would love to do examples =)

I have a tough shoot coming up!

I will be taking a group shot of the MINI club next saturday.
It will be night time. I have 2 industrial photo lights on stands that
will be plugged in via a truck and a car battery. But the light
will still be low. Obviously, I will be using a tripod, but it's going
to be difficult.

The shoot is for the James Bond run. We're dressing as James Bond
characters and posing next to our cars before we go see the movie :)

Any technical or asthetical tips welcome!

And as always, love the compliments :).

I do not know why I have not used wide-angle shots before. Guess I didn't pay attention that I had that setting even?

Maybe use the car's lights themselves to add some more light? It would provide a nice full effect. Someone would have to donate their car so you could use it off to the side out of view ... hmm *brain starts thinking*

I was thinking that also.
Unfortunately the MINIS are in the shot, so thats out of the question,
but my husband is bringing his mustang and my sister is bringing her truck...
but their car batteries will be used for the lights to plug in, so I dont
want to burn out their batteries. But if I take the shot quick...

If you could arrange the mini's in such a way to spread the light, you're going to be metering off the group and the cars as it is. Maybe the lights from the coopers themselves would be enough. Maybe use something like an ND filter on the camera to dampen the light if it's too bright. Or get some tissue paper and clear tape to use as a ghetto diffuser on the headlights.

Is it bad if I use a disposable camera for most of my pics? :) I do have a cheap Nikon digital camera...

I will be learning a lot more about photography though for my forensic science classes I'm taking. We have learned about "painting with light" and other things needed in the field. We are also learning a lot about photography enhancment and color swapping.

It's not the camera that makes a good photograph, it's the photographer!!! :)
Ever use a homemade pinhole camera? You can get some really creative and unique
shots with them!

Here's my latest shots from the club 'Turkey Run'
my husband took the one with me in it :)

Tried taking pics of the city skyline from the top of the parking garage the other day. Turned out like crap.
Tried taking some of the moon tonight. Turned out like crap.
I guess I'll have to dig back. This is from Sugar Creek Glen in Dansville, NY.
We went camping there, and hiked up the creek and 3 waterfalls. It was amaaaaazing!!

well, today is the photoshoot. Glad I got out of the hospital in time.
Still not feeling good, but I've been looking forward to this for too long
to miss it. I'll just drug up before I go- doubt there will be many toilets
available along the way :(
I'll post the photos as soon as I can!

Well, took photos of each couple in front of a MINI,
here is our shot:

Wasn't able to get my good shots because we had issues with our
lighting people. They didn't stick around and we were left with not
much to work with. But the event was lots of fun!

so cute! i just want to reach out and pet the kitty...

my computer screen isn't nearly as soft.

He is a softy in more than one way. Definitely lovesss attention and his belly rubbed, and he's the "guard dog" of their house.

I know, Drew ;). It was tempted, I just had to say it  (and I am a damn good at poker, so don't dare me too much now! hehe)

I'll quote Naughty By Nature lyrics ...

From O.P.P

It's sorta like well another way to call a cat a kitten, there's 5 little letters that I'm missin' here.

And yes I'm down ... with O.P.P

Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

At least you <3 me. That's the most important thing ;)

Myself, plenty of liquids, and a pristine snowbank as my canvas.... hmmm.

I assume that comment was for me?

If so, then thank you hehe.

AHHH you guys: I apparently missed, by just MISSED, a meteor that hit at about 6:40 pm today in northern Saskatchewan...which I'm told turned the whole sky green!

Nice shots

I apparently just missed the shuttle flying overhead today as well. Oh well, I wished I could have seen it but living in Rocket City I see enought cool things.

I agree with RHOV Lisa, I like the second shot, in fact I really like the lens flare you get from the sun. I also like the 3rd one, looks like macro mode right? Good depth of field (DOF).

Pen, why is the title of your picture "Morn sunset", what part of the planet do you live on?

Thank you Drew!

The first one looks a little dark, I know, but that was in the morning before the sun made it over the trees ;).

Yes, 3rd one was macro. (this was not using MF, which sometimes turns out much better). I had it set it superfine, and "sun". :)

I'm also into photography - took a bunch of courses in college and another one more recently. here's some of my photos, though i haven't posted here very recently

http://hereandrealfotos.blogspot.com/

i'm really impressed by all of the photos you guys posted too! thanks for this - it's nice to talk about something other than innards for a little while at least :)

Here they are- my claim to fame! photos from the September event

I got some cool pics today of the lake splashing up on the shore. It's hard to take pics of moving water, I had to take like 40 to get a few good shots. Unfortunately, my 2 best shots are only captured in my head. =(

Been there ... remember fishing for Northern Pike from that very spot. I loved it when Ontario used to freeze over.

RHOV- I love your bridge (the one to the sky) and your blackberry!

Mini - lucky for you, that purse won't get your husband beat up... no one would know from that pic unless you TOLD them, haha. Congrats on your spread!

geez. the sun is always on fire where you live!

Or I just have good timing?? lol

I didn't cheat or anything, not like I altered the colours hehe. Just somehow I guess with it just rising, and breaking through part of the clouds it really brough it out. Was awesome, so glad I didn't leave back to the city until this morning!!

Btw, that pic was taken at 8:30 a.m....i love winter.

Drew, and crew who have me as a friend on facebook, you guys MUST check out my 2 golf tournament albums from June, that I just uploaded finally as I clean out my laptop.
Yes, at 3 a.m...I wanted a break from school, and I should be in bed, but this is SO FUN. I've been cracking up laughing just looking at them -- which I hadn't done since I took them! You can just comment on there :).

Just DON'T say any comments about B, cuz he doesn't know about certain things (but will be tagged).
