Wow, Doug! My deductible was met, and my insurance considers colonoscopies necessary preventive tests anyway, so the cost for my colonoscopy that I had in while in the hospital was $0. I think all my colonoscopies that I've had over the years have been $0. That's the one thing I haven't ever had to pay for.

Yikes about the prometheus costing $2500! I might have to look into that payment assistance program depending on how much my bill is - I haven't seen an itemized bill yet, just an overall bill for my hospitalization. You don't happen to have a link to that payment assistance program, do you?

Oh, ew, sorry Doug. What prep do they have you doing? I had to do GoLightly when I was in the hospital. It tasted like seawater and there was a LOT of it to drink. Weirdly enough, though, I didn't hate it, I almost enjoyed it. It gave me less cramping, less urgency, and less d than the flare had been giving me up to that point, hah! :p

Yes Doug, you need to enroll in that program. Then it will be $250. It takes a lot of time for their processing though before they send the bill. They say they try their best with insurance, convincing them to pay. I honestly doubt it :D Good luck with the procedure tomo!

It's Suprep. I just took the first bottle and I still hate it. Yuck.

I hated to even watch Doug drink the suprep. :ywow:The thoughts of it, I can almost taste it myself. (~Shudder~)
I had my eye doc appointment this morning and I'm happy. (Also because the eye was back to normal by the middle of the night.) He couldn't find anything except the scarring I always have in the back of my left eye, so is attributing it to migrainous activity, even tho only one eye, considering my history. I have instructions to go see him again if it happens again, of course to go to the ER if I have anything else that could be stroke symptoms, and to see him in six months regardless just to play it safe. Now if the dilation would just wear off.
(I think I want a puppy now.)

Sandy, you totally deserve a puppy! :) I think you should ask Doug tomorrow if you can get a puppy, you know, right after he gets done with his scope and is really loopy. ;) I bet later he won't even remember saying yes, ha ha.

Honestly, I'm kind of glad I got my dog when she was 2. I didn't have to deal with the drama of puppy training (and puppy piddle), my dog came to me pre-trained with lots of commands and tricks and was crate-trained and everything, it was awesome. Although I am a bit sad that I don't even know what my dog looked like as a puppy. Her previous owners promised several times to email me photos, but they never did. Hmm, oh well.

You deserve a puppy, Sandy.😁😁

I think that I'll not only ask for the puppy tomorrow after the procedure, but the bunny rabbit(s) and guinea pigs I periodically ask for. He always says no to the later, but I had several in my "previous life." In re to the puppy, he would probably welcome it. (I even used to take my pet rabbit on walks with him in a harness and on a leash.:ysmile:)

I don't see why he'd say no to a rabbit, particularly since they can be litter box trained. Maybe you can get a rabbit and a puppy and take them on leash walks together! How cute would that be! :)

Doug..hope you are progressing well and that the scope went ok.
Sandy...I think it's lovely that you used to take your rabbit for hoppy walks on a leash...never knew this could be done.
Had my GI check up yesterday...he tells me the ultrasound showed cysts growing along the
colon incision lines....what next..oh yes and also a fatty liver......I never imbibe so it's not alcoholic. The abdominal exam was very painful ...
He is deferring scopes until he sees me again in November....in the meantime he has ordered five yards of lab tests....
Today I feel better and it is a lovely sunny day again...good for a short walk...I miss the long hikes I used to take.
Feel better Everyone..
Winning......

Just got a call from my gi's office. The place where I went to have the Prometheus test done only has record if the b12. Hope everyone is well.

Oh Ron! So you will have to have another blood draw? That stinks! :stinks:

We are just waiting for Doug to be wheeled off to the procedure, the doc is running behind. His name is Dr. Poole, an excellent doctor, and once while coming out of anesthesiology I admitted to the nurse (I think this was on the same day I had several seizures coming out of anesthesiology so the combination is my excuse for my bad manners) that I called the GI "Dr. Poo" sometimes. :rof:

Trysha, my bunny acted like a misbehaved dog on the leash, it is very hard to guide them, but possible. And rabbits are instinctively afraid of dogs, so I guess I'll stick to dogs, or maybe a cat in the future.

I called in sick because my cold made a resurgeonce and got really bad today. My lungs hurt and I'm losing my voice. I just woke up from a 2.5 hour nap and I'm going to have some tea soon. Yuck. I have no more paid time off left for the year, so I have to take an unpaid sick day today, that's not good for my finances but what can you do? I cannot work like this so I guess I don't get paid today.

Sandy, your story about "Dr. Poo" reminds me a bit of my GI and my hubby, at least in terms of the impact my hubby had on my GI in a brief time. Hubby had kidney stones a few years ago and they were impacted, so after 6 months of pain, they finally scheduled him for surgery (where they go up there with a laser and blast out the stones). It turns out that they don't do that surgery much, so afterwards they just stick they kidney stone people in with the colonoscopy people, everyone is in that same recovery area. Hubby was in a ton of pain and very pale and crying and just miserable immediately following his kidney stone procedure. So I was sitting there trying to help get him comfortable, when my GI walks past - we were in the colonoscopy area, after all. I guess most people look fine when they come out of colonoscopy, so to see hubby looking so awful really shocked my GI. He was visibly shaken by how bad hubby looked and had to ask me repeatedly if hubby was okay. And ever since then, my GI always makes a point of asking how my hubby is doing. :p (He's fine now, he's healthy as a horse.) I'm the chronically ill one, but my hubby is the one my GI is really concerned about, ha ha.

This will be our new puppy.

Aw Kirsty how adorable...im sure you will have lots of fun and great times together. 🐶🐾🐾

Oh Doug... my turn next Tuesday.. got to go for prep next Monday oh boy do i hate that stuff. Plus i just cant drink that volume of fluid in the alotted time. Im not a big drinker at best of times.

Oh well its got to be done ..
Feel better everyone who feels rough. Keep well those who are doing well right now.
Big hugs to all. :ghug: ❤💙💚💛💜

Well the scope found an ulcer at the anastamosis site of my old surgery. I told them something was going on! He is not sure it is because of the Crohn's or something else. So we wait for the biopsies to come back and see what it is. The good news is that the crohns is not severely active.

Still doing the Prometheus test to check on my Humira levels.

Glad the Crohns Disease is not active but sorry about the ulcers.

So today was ultrasound of gallbladder. No stones she certainly found some tender spots. Next is gastroscopy on 4 October.

It's like we always have to reprove we have crohns on each flare. I'm getting a bit tired of it all. I want my puppy to cuddle.

I agree Kirst, I know that Doug has had more symptoms than what his colonoscopy showed, but thank goodness Dr. Poole knows that there really is something going on. Doug didn't remember that the doc still wants to see him again in three weeks to make sure symptoms are under control. He did say no when I asked if we could get a puppy. :(

Good afternoon.did you know the longest known record for constipation is.....wait for it (and he did) 102 days.......Unless you know better of course.

It's Friday! Thank goodness. This cold is still kicking my butt but today is a little better than yesterday so I went in to work. There's a lady at work whose desk is at least 40 feet away from mine, but apparently she can hear me coughing - she sent me a message saying my cough sounds "like it hurts!". I can't afford to take another unpaid sick day so I guess she's just going to have to continue listening to me cough. :p

I'm going shopping tomorrow because I really need some retail therapy. But after that I'm going to rest up and probably will just crochet and maybe sew and that's it. I finished the blanket I was crocheting, made a scarf, and started on another scarf yesterday. :p I'm kind of thinking, I just want to make everything cozy and give everybody I know a scarf (and a few people get blankets). Another idea I have is just to make a whole bunch of scarves and take them somewhere, like the local hospital, and ask that they're handed out to people who need them. Is that weird? I can't do much, but I can crochet, and I can make a scarf in a couple hours or so, so really I could make a bunch of scarves before winter. If you were somewhere and saw a basket of free handmade scarves, would you take one? Or is that weird?

It's not weird Cat it's a sign of a generous heart. Also being productive like that gives a great sense of satisfaction with you being an active contribution making a positive difference for someone else. It's good, totally good.

What a lovely thought Cat.....go for it.:rosette1:

That is a beautiful thought, Cat.

Thanks guys! I wasn't sure if it would be weird or not, sometimes I have a faulty gauge of what is weird and what isn't. So, do you guys think the hospital is the best place to bring a basket of scarves? I know a few people who work in local hospitals & clinics so maybe I could give them each a basket of scarves to hand out.

I'm excited about this project. I have a bunch of partial skiens of yarn left over from other projects (blankets etc) so I'm going to try to use up that yarn first, but then I have ideas for making scarves, like I'll make some in local sports team colors (the Wisconsin Badgers play here in town, their team colors are red and white, so I'll definitely make some scarves that are red & white). I'm so excited that I'm planning to head to the craft store after work and pick up some yarn (it's on sale right now!). I'm even making myself a travel crochet kit with a few hooks and a small scissors in a tote bag, so that I can take my projects with me. Excited! Hopefully this little project will make a lot of people a bit more warm and cozy this winter.

That would be a great place

Great thought Cat! Both for you and the recipients. The infusion center I go for Remicade infusions is also a cancer treatment center. With colder weather approaching it may be another thought for your area.

Ooh, good thought, Shanen! I went to the infusion center at my local hospital last year for a few iron infusions, so I'm familiar with it. I would have to figure out how to contact someone there and make sure it's okay for me to come in and drop off some scarves, but that's a really nice thought. I was there in November and I remember it being chilly in there (I definitely needed a blanket), so I bet scarves would be well-received there.

Also some local churches may have outreach programmes for those in need. I give mum lots of eggs so she does baking for people that are sick or can't bake or have little food.

That is another great idea along with Shane's idea..

Honestly, I'm a bit intimidated by the idea of a church charity - I'm not religious so I'm not really familiar with any churches, like I don't attend church or anything. And there's already a huge church charity up the street that does regular food pantries and free dinners and coat giveaways and all sorts of things, it's a little intimidating that they do so much so often and I just want to give away some scarves I made. Not that it's a bad idea, but it's maybe just not for me personally.

My boss is pretty religious though, so I will keep that idea in mind - I can always give my boss a basket of scarves that she can distribute at her church. I bet she'd like that.

In that same area of thought, do you have any homeless shelters in the area? That might be another group that would appreciate them. All the above ideas are good though.
The Utes just won USC 31 to 27. Undefeated so far, that last play by the Utes was gutsy and won the game for us. GO UTES! Allie doesn't like it when we high five each other, she thinks we are fighting.:ylol::ylol::ylol::ylol:
:ylol::ylol::ylol:
Winning.

Hi Trev, great to see you.

Question for the crohnnies - what is the relationship between crohns flare and more than normal E. coli?

Does anyone know if there are any alternatives for the Prometheus test? Also, not as bad but still having some nerve pain in leg. Hope everyone else is well.

Hiya Trev! You only won for about an hour, so you will have to try again soon. Kirst, in answer to your question, see https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/08/070807172136.htm and http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4133521/. I'm too tired to understand this well, but it sounds like (the amounts of a certain type of E.coli) in the mucous in the intestinal wall is more closely associated with IBD (including colitis) than mucous in the feces. If I remember correctly, it talked some about this relationship in the Facebook article Madhu recently shared (but I'm too lazy to look again).
Ron, I'm happy your leg is some better, but wish it would just get better altogether. I would still consider having that x-ray your chiropractor recommended.

Today I ordered new glasses because my eyes have changed enough to warrant a new prescription. I had wire framed glasses, but going back to plastic frames as I frequently fall asleep in them and there are a lot less components to bend (like the nose pieces in my current frames, the new ones have a molded in nose piece :)). The style I chose is a complete change for me and I'm anxious to get them.
Feeling a little naseous today, and just wish if I'm going to throw up, I would get it over with. :stinks: I started to make dinner (barbecue flavored ribs, made my own sauce), and having Doug finish with mashed potatoes and a veggie. It sounded so good earlier. I'm sure it's nothing contagious, just my gastroparesis acting up. :( :( :( Nothing serious though, I'm sure.

Take care one and all!

My cold is improving - instead of a coughing fit waking me up at 5 AM, my body actually allowed me to sleep until 7 AM, and I didn't have my coughing fit until after I was already out of bed. :p Improvement!

So I took my dog on a short walk. It's been rainy all week but finally this morning we had a brief break (more rain coming this afternoon though, ugh). So we went to the off-leash dog park. Well, my dog decided to roll in... something stinky. I don't know if it was poo, pee, something dead (it was right by a creek so it could have been a dead fish). So, Lily got a bath as soon as we got home! I was planning on doing some chores around the house today, but giving the dog a bath was not on the agenda. Funny how plans can change! ;) Winning?

Cat glad the cold is improving hun. Sounds like lily had fun....
I ended up triming my sons rabbits claws !!
Yep plans change lol. 😃 💕

Oh my, rabbits can be mean and have strong legs, I would be afraid to trim their nails! I don't even trim my dog's nails, I take her to the groomer and have them do it. Some things I'd just rather pay a professional to do rather than do it myself! Usually I'm DIY all the way but not when it comes to my animals' nails.

I'm actually having a really good day. My cold is improving, my dog is clean, I've successfully tapered down to 10 mg pred, I've done a lot of cleaning around the house (vacuumed, did dishes, did 2 loads of laundry), my favorite football team is winning, and I'm going to buy myself a little present soon (as soon as the football game is over). There's this board game/card game about the Oregon Trail, it went on sale a couple months ago but immediately sold out and I couldn't get one for myself. It's been out of stock ever since, but a friend of mine just posted on facebook that it's back in stock. So I ordered one for myself and can pick it up at the store today! :D The best part, my friend and I were chatting about it on his wall on facebook, and apparently one of his friends works at the store and she saw our posts, so she's personally seeing to it that I get my game today. Personal service! I'm very excited, I've been wanting to play this game for months so tonight hubby and I will play once he's home from work. Definitely winning!

Aw thats brill Cat i really hope u enjoy the new game...
Well done u on all the stuff you have done today iv been a bit lazy today 😕

Lola rabbit just sat calmly on my knee while i trimmed them, couldnt believe how good she was really ☺

I have done nails on other rabbits and on dogs in the past, but she was the easiest to do,aw bless her cotton tail lol. X

Well that's good about the rabbit being so calm! I think I have a slight phobia of rabbits. When I was a kid, we watched my cousin's rabbit for a week while she and her family were on vacation. This rabbit, it was very similar to the rabbit from Monty Python. :p It was white with red eyes and it would growl at you like a wildcat if you even dared to approach it. We kept it in our basement for that week and we basically just threw food down the stairs at it, we were all terrified of it! It was a really awful rabbit. When my cousin and her family returned, they were shocked that their bunny was so scary to us - according to them, bunny was normally very sweet and not at all terrifying. Hmm, I don't think so!

Ooh blimey sounds as if the rabbit was miffed at being on its hols while they were on theirs 😯.
They can be quite attached to their owners n dislike being with others..
Least u only had to deal with for a week hun. X

Wow! You are correct Cat, a rabbit's legs are extremely strong. My last rabbit (the one I took on walks) would thump his legs at me if upset at something (like running out of food:ybiggrin:), but never growled at me. I never had to trim his nails because they stayed short by running around, including on a patio in a tightly fenced in yard. He was chased by a dog once, and I had never heard before (or since) a bunny scream, but when exceptionally frightened they do. It was like a very loud person screaming too! Sometimes rabbit's teeth need to be trimmed also (they grow!) but never had to deal with that either.

The ailment of the day is another UTI (~sigh~) and more nausea. Can't wait for the clinic to open tomorrow. Drinking lots water, of course.

Listening to classical music and it's a beautiful day outside, enjoying that.

Sandy, UTIs always give me a lot of nausea. :( Is there an after-hours on-call doctor you can get ahold of? I always seem to get UTIs on weekends, but I can almost always get ahold of a doctor or nurse who can prescribe me antibiotics over the phone. At any rate, feel better soon! I have had many UTIs myself and they are miserable, so I know you're not feeling well right now.

No clinics or after hour docs available on Sunday, the only other option is the ER. (Utah closes down on Sundays more thoroughly than most places in some ways.) I don't usually get nausea with my UTIs, but would still suspect that if I weren't having strange BMs. I never feel good though, you're right about that. Earlier this year I spent four months on antibiotics I had so many infections, I don't want to go through that again. I'll get through it tho, I always do. (Mumble grumble.)

Sandy hope you feel better soon hun 💕💕
Iv got to go get my bowel prep today ready for next week 😨. Iv lost half a stone in the last month so i could do without pooping for 2/3days with that stuff. Got to ask my Gi why im having such trouble with gaining weight!!

Love n hugs to all 💞:ghug:

Hi all iv been issued with moviprep orange bowel prep. Has anyone used this (as i havent b4). Hoping its not as bad as kleenprep i had last time 😨.
💕

Sorry Mandy, I haven't done that one myself. I've done Golightly (tasted like seawater), Gatorade & Miralax (made me super dehydrated, would not recommend), and Prepopik (also known as Picolax/Pico Salax - made me super nauseous).

I hope it's not too awful of a prep. I think I've said this before, but last time I did prep at home, I treated it like a spa day. That made things a fair bit easier. Get some nice candles, face masques, bubble bath, fuzzy slippers, etc and pamper yourself a bit in between (or during) bathroom trips. Prep day is miserable enough already so do some nice things for yourself that day! :)

Cheers Cat thats sounds like a really good idea mmm spa day like it☺
Ye the kleenprep was like seawater too, was supposed to be vanilla flavoured...ye i think not 😨.
💕

Ew, vanilla flavor sounds awful! I did Golightly in the hospital, and they said they could add orange flavor if I wanted. I asked if that tended to make it better or worse, and the nurse honestly said worse, so I declined the flavoring. :p Hopefully yours isn't too bad with the orange flavor.

Oh no... knowing my luck hun it will be vile ucckkk😯
Hope your cold is improving Cat and you are feeling better 💕

Chicks are laying 4-8 eggs a day. Wolf loves the chicks. The other day he found a way into the coop and he'd brought a pressie for them, a dead wild rabbit. He's like I'm cool I bring you food. He spends lots of time outside coop just watching hens. Still have to a wait a few more weeks before puppy is ready to pick up.

Aw thats really cool that he is so good with them. They are laying well for you hun,im guessing they love you and their new home . Aw i bet you cant wait to get your puppy, its soooo cute 💕

Aw i hope you can get it sorted soon. Must be a nightmare.
My mum has similar n its doing her head in,she is waiting on appointment with a neurologist. Doc thinks it maybe the sciatic nerve?? 💕

Thanks Mandy, my cold is improving although still hanging around somewhat. I feel more energetic and I'm having less coughing fits, although I still sound awful when I do have coughing fits - there apparently is still a lot of mucus in my chest that my body is trying very hard to get rid of, yuck. My voice still isn't back to normal, either, but I can at least talk mostly normally again. For a few days there I sounded like Marge Simpson, ha ha. :p I did manage to walk my dog yesterday without having a coughing fit, so that feels like a big win. :)

Mandy, make sure it's really chilled and use a straw, so it sort of by passes the tongue.
The prep doesn't bother me as much as the bathroom trips and the sore behind.
Losing weight needs to be investigated, especially if you're slender to start with.

Thought For The Day.....The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.;)

Grumpy,how are you ???
