Aura, great job making the puppy bed! Looks so cozy!

I'm doing better today. Went back up to 10 mg pred and the pain disappeared. It's a cool day but not rainy so I'm going to take my dog to a hiking path for a walk. I also need to buy some groceries, and, of course, I'm working on crocheting another scarf. :) Winning!

Trysha

My phone is working fine. Had one app that froze and had to be updated, but everything is fine.

Thanks Doug...
My nephew had his mail affected but he soon fixed it..he is an IT expert
which we will all be if Apple keeps doing these things to us.
Hope you are continuing to improve crohns wise....seems to be that time of year...

Kirsty..you are quite brilliant and your puppy will love you for that.
Hope you will heal soon.
Carol I tried that with my adopted poodle (RIP) when we first had her and she went ballistic
howling like I never heard.
It was an expensive comfortable cage which I gave to her groomer.
She was perfectly behaved with a lovely dog bed I purchased from the pet store.
I think it's a good move to train them in puppyhood....she would have become accustomed to it then.
Mandy good luck with the prep...
Winning....

I'm really lucky, my dog was crate-trained when I got her. I got her at age 2, so I don't think at that age I could have taught her to sleep in a crate every night, it definitely is something that has to happen right away during puppyhood. She's 8 now and still loves sleeping in her crate every night - it's her "den" and she voluntarily goes into it when she sees that I'm starting to get ready for bed myself.

Whenever we have some place to go our dog willingly goes into the crate.

When we have someplace to go, our dog gets very anxious. She has been known to attack garbage cans and spread around the mess. So we just make sure the kitchen garbage she cannot open and we close the bathroom door. Usually then things are OK. When we come home she goes crazy. I try not to reward that, but Allie is soooo cute I cannot ignore her most of the time.

So far I have created an outdoor fenced pen area with a puppy sandbox for toilet training. I have an indoor pen area. And I have a crate for small dogs. Today I'll be working on the indoor pen. The pen areas are designed to give puppy its own space away from the cats until they are all used to each other. But I know nothing will stop Wolf. He was in the chicken coop the other day and got food for my ladies as he had caught a rabbit for them. I removed Wolf and the rabbit.

What did you do with the rabbit?
You have certainly been very busy looking after your pet family...they are so lucky to have such a caring mom..

Your life will never be boring Kirsty,I just hope you're well enough to cope.Of course Jammer might be the perfect pup,but I doubt it.Treat her as you would a child, make boundaries in between the cuddles.Little breeds mature a lot quicker than the big ones.

Hi peeps well i had a bump in my car yesterday. Car is at repair shop now n courtesy car due this affy. No one injured just shook up. Backed into a post i didnt see doh!!😩. Dont think il need the prep the stress will clear my colon out...

Aw, Mandy, that's no good, I'm sorry to hear it! As you said, nobody was hurt and that's the important part. And prep on top of that, oh dear, it's just not your week! I hope everything goes smoothly from here on out.

Thought For The Day....

The Nike swoosh logo was designed by a student called Carolyn Davidson,
Who was paid $35 for her work in1971.

I bet she's spitting feathers eh ?

and did you know that Nike was the goddess of victory in Greek mythology , only discovered that myself recently .

I really enjoy these important pieces of information....
Thanks Tony and Carol...

Hi there,
Trysha the rabbit was a wild one the Wolf caught. I out it in the trash as it was going out the next day.

I was just thinking on the weekend that my guts felt like i was getting to the stage where I could lose one stone a week. Yesterday I had 11 BM, gone from one end of the Bristol poo chart to the other in the space of a few hours. My friend gave me some incense called Alpine Flowers, so at least the bathroom smelt nice. Talk about a mix of feeling, rectal cramps, spasms, tender insides, pain, then the gagging and reaching started. I did manage to prevent a midnight hypo, so that was a good catch, but I think I missed the one at about 3 am.

It's my gastroscopy today, so at least I see my gastro guy. I will be happy if I can get through the procedure without shitting myself under sedation. I don't trust my bowels at the moment.

Thank goodness I've you that understand, imagine if I posted the above on Facebook [emoji3][emoji33][emoji372] by the end of the day I was looking for funny toilet humour on Pinterest [emoji4]

Just takin my bowel prep now n its still vile even tho its different form last lot. Dont know if il be able to keep it down . Oh the joys !!!💕

Hey Mandy. We are with you. Hope the prep goes well. I believe the prep day is the worst of it.

I agree with Doug, let us know when you knock one of the drinks off, we are here for you, totally.

You got this, Mandy! It's not fun but you can do it. Cheering you on from across the pond!

Mandy I usually cut up a lemon and keep it in my teeth in the side of my mouth while drinking the prep....never would get it down or keep it without....each cup = piece of lemon
Good luck we are thinking of you....very stressful...
Kirstie I'm sorry the rabbit died .
I have been through exactly what you are experiencing with all that activity...very distressing. The surgery helped me a lot but I still get those episodes think it's the time of year for crohnies...feel better soon....hope the gastroscopy goes smoothly..
Winning....."

Thanks for the cheerleading guys..
Half way through but no movement yet probly start while im asleep. Or not knowing me it will wait till im on the bus to the hospital tomorrow lunchtime😨..💕

Mandy, I hate when that happens! Getting up in the night a zillion times because of prep is just a miserable time. I hope you can rest up tomorrow once everything is over and done with.

And if it happens on the bus, well.... at least no weirdos will sit near you? ;) Gotta look for that silver lining! But maybe bring a change of pants just in case.

Hi all 4.20 am. Just woke still no movement. Going to have to start next lot soon. What will happen if iv not gone by the the time i get to hospital. Mind u iv not really ate for 2days so maybe nothing to come out !!!. I hate this coz i didnt sleep much the night b4 and im shattered. good job iv got weds off work too....💕

Thanks Ron...theres got to be a better way than these drinks to clear you out. should be available in tablet form. 💕

Just go hour by hour Mandy. I'm always a late crapper on the prep meds. But it does happen eventually.

My last prep things did not really get moving until after I took the second drink of the prep. It'll happen.

Hi ya in bed now after gastroscopy. Ibd clinic will discuss my case tomorrow it looks like they will tweak my meds maybe try alupurinol with humira and imuran. Or remicade. I need to do another fecal calprotectin. I have a polyp on my gall bladder that needs an annual check. May also be in line for a pill cam or colonoscopy. Just got to wait on how the clinic team wants to play it. I'll got for anything that stops 11 BM in a day and removes my pain.

Hi iv finally had some movement half hour ago. On second lot of prep now so hoping it has stopped in time for trip to hospital.
Glad im not the only one who is a late crapper as Kirsty says lol. 💕

It's a pain cause you take all this prep and then wait and sleep and then think oh feck here we go and generally I'm still half asleep. Not ready for the emptying to begin.

I expect you're at the appointment now ? or being escorted off the bus hahaha.

Did you manage to "go" ? I was back and forwards for 12 hours and still had to "go" when I got to the hospital.
It'll soon be over.Make sure and rest when you get home.Snuggle down and snooze.

Hi Carol ye iv been moving since 8am ish. Dont think theres much left now,got an hour n alf b4 i set off for hospital. So not been escorted off the bus..yet !!!
💕

Oh ye i was worse day after colo last time thus why iv got tmoz off as well. Only had one lot of food pre prep yesterday and not much the day b4 as the car bump threw me off eating, as it was abit upsetting tho not serious accident. So guess there wont be alot to get out...x

:ghug:As long as they don't send you home and you have to do it all again....Hope you get the results you want.

I hope all goes well, Mandy! Keep us posted!

Aura, I hope you can get things sorted out in terms of tests and meds, and start feeling better. Hopefully you get some good news tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you! For what it's worth, I was also dealing with a lot of pain and many bathroom trips (10 to 20 watery BMs per day) when my flare was at its worst. It took IV steroids and then a pred taper, plus EEN for a few weeks and now low-FODMAP to get things under control. I know what you mean when you say you'll do whatever it takes to feel better, I was definitely in the same boat a little while ago myself! EEN was hard, I really wanted food the whole time, but I feel like that really helped and so did the steroids. I'm trying to get my doctor to approve LDN now, so hopefully that's the next step for me. Whatever the next step for you is, I hope it works wonders and gets you feeling a lot better!

I'm winning today, I think. :p The machine at work is giving out free hot chocolates (I've already had 2 even though I'm pretty sure they aren't allowed on my low-FODMAP diet). Yum!

Well all done colo showing clear so he is ordering a ct scan asap as he couldnt get into the terminal ileum with the scope.
So thats it for now folks...
Keep well all or feel better soon depending on current state. Big hugs ,love n thanks for the support thro this little performance of mine. Cheers all 💚💛💜💕💖💟💞💝 :ghug:

Hope you're resting up now, Mandy. And I hope you can have that scan soon and figure out what's going on. Big hugs to you as well. :)

As for me, still winning - remember how I had donated 3 scarves to the charity auction? There's now another charity event that's going on at work, some of the managers volunteered to get a pie to the face if they receive enough monetary contributions towards charity. I did some snooping and found out that my manager is very reluctantly participating, so I made sure to put $5 towards her receiving a pie to the face, ha ha. :p (She's a good boss, but still, she's the boss - so I couldn't resist!)

I am glad he is ordering the CT! Something prevented the scope from going through. My first colonoscopy the GI I had at the time could not get the scope into the terminal ileum. To follow up on it he did NOTHING. In fact, he did not even tell me he could not get the scope into the T.I. I found out a few years later when my records from his office were obtained for my surgeon to review.

I hope things start going better for you Mandy.

Thanks guys.. he said the astamosis(not sure on spelling) site was quite narrow . That he would order the scan so that he could get a look at that area.
So as we say lets hope it not long b4 scan happens. I did sleep pretty well last night but still feel dozey at the mo. Going to rest and sleep if i drop off today.
Hope everyone has a good day.:ghug:💕💕

I too hope everyone has a great day. I'm glad you got thru with your scope Mandy, and hope further testing can give you some answers and relief.
Same with you, Kirsty. I seem to remember you had a heck of a time with a previous pill cam, and they are still considering doing that again? I don't want to scare you, I'm just concerned.
I hope everyone else is a well as can be. I'm still having symptoms of something going on with my kidneys, so I'm not happy about that. I had lab work done yesterday in prep for my appointment with the nephrologist on the 11th, and I'm anxious to get those results. With my luck, they'll find something slightly abnormal but not be able to tell me much beyond that, that is the story of my life, though I know something is not right.
I'm anxious to hear how Wolf and the new puppy do as they get to know each other. Allie wishes you well.

Thanks Sandy, I love seeing pics of Alfie. Wolf just did a big yawn. Later today I see my GP and in avo my retinal scan.

I didn't want to mention it because everyone seems to be having problems this week, but I'm sure I have shingles !!! Have got an appointment tomorrow PM for gastro and ear probs so will mention it then.Anyone had any experience of shingles.I have clusters of itchy blisters around my waist area which are getting sore.I'm going for a bath and I'll put my kaftan on,Back later.

Aw Carol it sounds as if it could be from what i remember of my grandad having it. Hope its not tho hun. Good luck with all of the issues going on right now. Hope you can get relief soon hun

Thanks Mandy.I feel like I'm going mad with all three of these problems.I don't suppose my GP will be pleased with me squeezing them all into a 10 min.appt.,but tough. He better not start or he'll get such a smack !!!!

Hope you're feeling better today/

never had shingles , but I know that getting treatment as soon as possible is very important , hopefully the docs will help tomorrow.

Carol 10mins gp appointments are a joke...like what we have to deal with is covered in that time. I made my gp overrun that time scale so you go girl and make sure you cover all you need to.
Im not to bad today thanks hun just weary. So spending the day on sofa n watching tv.
Hope your on mend soon to Carol.

Oh no Carol! I agree with what Mandy said above. I've never had shingles either, my mom had them in about the same area as you probably have them. Hopefully a prescription cream will help, as it did my mother. I'm hoping I never get shingles as I had to be unusual (again) and had the chickenpox twice. The second time was very mild, however, and only a couple weeks past when I recovered the first time. I remember being quite upset that they wouldn't let me go to school again.

I never had chicken pox but I remember my brother having it.Nobody I know has had shingles but I suspected within an hour or so,that's what I had.I feel thoroughly miserable, but tomorrow is another day.Hopefully not a miserable one.

Aw my lovely i so hope you feel more cheerfull tomorrow.
Listen think of it like this 'it could be worse i could be Mad Mandy' haha

I sometimes have pain also in my right leg in the back. It feels like my leg is getting weak. My GP wants to see me tomorrow.

Mandy, at least you're mad in a fun way! :) I think I'm just mad in a grumpy way, ha ha.

Scottsma, that sounds awful. I hope tomorrow is much better.

Ron, you feel better too! Everybody feel better! Big hugs to everybody!

As for me, I'm slightly in shock. :p My husband is off of work on Saturday, and he asked if there is anything I'd like to do as it'll be our one day off together. Well, I had been asking him for months to clean his areas of the basement (he has a tool/workshop area that you can't even walk through, and also a little man-cave which is also full of clutter and junk, and the clutter has slowly started invading the rest of our basement too). So I said we should clean and organize the basement and throw out a lot of stuff. He actually agreed, he said it's a good idea! I nearly died of shock, ha ha. So I went shopping for some organizing supplies - containers, totes, etc. I probably spent a bit too much money, but I figure he can't back out of it once I've spent $40 on totes, ha! ;) I'm already daydreaming about all the stuff I'm going to throw away. There are some hoarders in my family and I'm determined not to be one of them! So, by Sunday, my basement should be so much cleaner and nicer. Winning!

Carol sorry to hear about this and it certainly sounds as if it could be shingles...
It's a beast...
You need acyclovir or valocyclovir like the day before yesterday....it needs treatment with the antiviral within the first three days for optimal effect.
Get some calamine to soothe the itch and burning......
I had it at the back of my head round to the ear and side of my face.
My GP was slow on the uptake so he failed to prescribe the valacyclovir until the fourth day,so it was a prolonged affair in recovery.
I used olive oil for burning and Apple cider vinegar for itching.
I was also given amytryptalline. Low dose up to 80mg....it helped.
Took a long time to heal due to delay in treatment.
Hope you soon feel better
Hugs......

hi Cat, I would like to see before and after pics of the basement, as I don't believe he will throw anything. once a hoarder ,,,,,,, just ask my wife.

Trysha, did you drink the apple cider vinegar or apply it to the itch ? I have a new bottle in the cupboard but won't use it until you reply.I have a feeling I might shoot through the roof if I apply it hahaha.Today will be day three,it only appeared tuesday morning,so hopefully it will clear up sooner.I'm also scared I might have a blockage.I usually visit the bathroom 6-8 times every morning, but have only managed 3 times this week.I've tried laxatives, prunes, porridge, lots of water and glycerine suppossitories, but no luck.So I hope the doc.will prescribe something that will work.Quickly.I'll leave my "ear" problem for later.

Scottsma, oh my goodness, when it rains it pours! I hope you don't have a blockage, that's just exactly what you don't need right now! You are going to the doctor today, right? Like, now-ish?

Trev, I will try to remember to take photos for you. My hubby isn't so much a hoarder, he's just more just lazy about throwing things away (he's had depression off and on which I think affects his ability to throw away junk in a timely fashion). I asked him last night about certain items in the basement (we have 2 hedge trimmers, and 2 weed whackers, so I asked if we can get rid of one of each - he said sure). The hoarding gene is in my family - my dad and his mother, my grandma, are both pretty bad hoarders. My dad literally has paths through his piles of stuff and he has a really hard time throwing things away. My grandma hoarded for years, we just moved her into a memory care facility and we recently had to clean out her old condo, which took a long time and was a ton of work. She literally had at least 30 purses (some new with tags still on), at least 100 towels, so many clothes it filled an entire storage unit, and so much random stuff it boggles the mind. I can tell that I have some hoarding tendencies as well, it must be genetic in some way. I definitely hoard food, and I hoard certain things like yarn, but I really for the most part try to keep myself under control and I'm good about throwing things out. (I do throw out the food if it's expired or gone bad, and the yarn all gets used and I am giving away the scarves and blankets that the yarn goes into making.)

In fact, I'm already getting rid of one thing today! I glanced around my basement last night to sort of take a mental inventory of the larger things I want to get rid of, and there was a child's kayak paddle (we don't even have kids, this paddle came free with our kayak when we bought it). So I offered that and some other items up for free on my facebook, and a friend of mine who has kids wants the paddle. I'm giving it to her today. That's already one less thing in my basement! :)

Hi Carol
It was after the rash had subsided ...the itch and burning were unbearable ..my hair got in the way with calamine and I Was desperate
so I tried those two things and it worked for me.i diluted the vinegar about 50%
with distilled water...this was years ago before there were other treatments....now there are lidocaine patches to provide instant relief...you need a prescription from the doc
Once the amytriptalline clicked in then I discontinued the home treatment....
Recovery took longer then but I think with more up to date Meds you should be better sooner.
Currently my neurologist has prescribed a cream containing gabapentin, amytryptalline and lidocaine to apply to the area....he said he has had good results from this...so you could maybe asked your doc for a prescription
I would not recommend the vinegar when this cream is available.
Sounds as if you may have a flare lurking around........
Take care
Hugs
Trysha

My doctor says to continue with the Gabapentin and she wrote a referral for physical therapy. She took some blood because last time my CBC was a little low. I hope everyone feels better soon.

Ron...I hope you will soon get some relief from the pain
Cat...you have cheered me no end....I have difficulty in reducing possessions also but I am getting better since moving from house to apartment.
I have learned to utilize the space better...but still have too many clothes that I find hard to part up with...but I am getting there and now have a touch of ruthlessness in dispatching excess.
I do like a very neat place and can't bear things out of order...but I fail a bit with clothes
even though they are tidily stashed there are too many I no longer use.
Having written this has given me impetus to get going and fill some bags for the charity store.
You have really inspired me to stop procrastinating and get going...thank you
Cheers Everybody......have a good day.....
Trysha

Trysha, clothes are difficult for me as well so I feel for you. I love clothes and have a hard time parting with old favorites, even if they don't fit anymore (thanks, prednisone). I'm trying to get rid of them, though. I read online somewhere that a good tip is to take all of your clothes on hangers on January 1st, and hang all of them backwards (hook the clothes hanger around the other side of the bar, if that makes sense). Once you wear something, hang it the normal way. At the end of the year, anything that you haven't worn at least once will still be hung backwards, and it will be easy to go through and take out everything that you haven't worn at least once in a full year, and get rid of it. I'm thinking of doing that myself. I know I have a lot of clothes that I like but haven't worn in awhile, so that would help me weed out what I've actually worn vs what I haven't.

I'm glad I was able to inspire you! Have fun getting rid of unneeded items!

On the subject of giving things to charity - a friend of mine on facebook had posted a really nice idea. It said to get a box or basket, and do a "reverse advent calendar." Every day in December, put one item (like a canned good) into the box, and on xmas eve, donate the box to a food pantry or shelter. That sounds like a really nice idea and I might try that as well.

Hi all well looks like there is a clearing out wave going on... i could do with joining in. Loads of clothes to big now coz of the weight loss with the good old crohns!!!

Hope everyone feels better soon. Big hugs n love 💕💕

Good news is that the insurance has approved the repairs on my car today..no hassles all going smoothly ☺

I like the idea too.

I'll be back later when I can win properly. Do take care, my friends. 💛🐝🌸🌻

That great news about the car insurance, nice to see some things can go right when you really need them to , hope you are doing a little better today , I'm a bit better today , new clothes are always good at least thats what my oh always say , the only problem is that she cant walk past Tommy Hilfiger , I make do with pennys or m&s when I want a treat .

Thanks Tony ye im ok today..your wife has good taste eh !!

Im a bargin hunter but not thro choice lol 😃
Glad you are feeling better Tony hope it continues. Best wishes 💕

Mandy, I'm a bargain hunter as well (which can be dangerous when you have hoarding tendencies so I have to be careful!). In fact I went to a thrift store on my lunch break today, and I found a really nice cute & cozy winter sweater for only $4. :p Don't worry, I'm going to get rid of an older sweater to make room for the new one.

And on the subject of getting rid of items, my friend forgot to pick up her kayak paddle that I was giving to her! She's also a co-worker, fortunately, so I just put it on her desk. :p She's in a different department than I am so I got a few funny looks walking through her department carrying a dusty old kayak paddle! Ha ha. Well, I don't care, I'm just happy to be rid of the thing. I probably should have wiped off the dust and cobwebs before bringing it to my friend's desk, but since she forgot about it and already left for the day, I figure she can deal with the dust and cobwebs. ;)

Only a couple of nights till puppy time! Steves been away all week. The IBD clinic nurse called and said I needed to inform my endocrinoloist re the hypos and pain as well. The dietician phoned and I am now on low residue diet for the weekend and she will phone again on Monday to see if we've eliminated hypos and lowered pain. I just got to rule up my log book for food, pain and blood glucose.. Bring on puppy time for some love, joy and chaos.

Hi Cat nice one in the bargin sweater. Love the fact u left the cobwebs 😃.💕

Hi kirsty i hope you get to feel better soon...aw puppy time is almost here, enjoy the cuddles and love you will get maybe they may help ease your pains too 💕💕

Got Aciclovir tablets for the shingles,1 every three hours for a week, and doc said to use my tramadol for the pain.
Steroid drops for my ear,and laxatives for my blockage. They have worked, somewhat, but I'll take more tonight to keep things moving for a few days.
Today I'm having a "pity"party. You're all welcome but bring your own tissues.

Clearing clutter always makes me feel better. I like the hanger idea but wonder how long my subconscious would tolerate the hangers being the wrong direction. I may have to test it.

A pity party is well deserved and justified with all you are going through now Carol. I hope you get relief soon.

Ron, I think so. And of course no carrageenan. ;)

Scottsma, just as long as there is more than one bathroom at this party! If there is a line for the bathroom, I'm in trouble. :p

It's a really quiet day at work so I'm sitting at my desk going through the mental list of everything I'm going to throw away from my basement. Old broken computer printer, old broken weed whacker, old treadmill, old hedge trimmer, old front door, several large cardboard boxes, box of old VHS tapes (hubby might give me a hard time about that, I asked him last night if I can throw it out and he said no, but seriously when is he really going to watch VHS tapes??). He reminded me that we still have at least one old VCR so we could technically watch the VHS tapes, but now I just want to throw out the VCR as well! :p Seriously, we're in the age of netflix and DVDs/blu-ray and youtube. Everything we want to watch is on the internet or at the very least on a disc. We do not need 20+ year old VHS tapes!

I'm going to try to distract hubby away from the VHS tapes and toss them when he's not in the room. ;) Sneaky! He wants to build a shelf to put some plants on, so I'm going to distract him with shelf-making ideas and then sneak out the VHS tapes to the garbage while he's busy with that, ha ha.
