Went to a meeting tonight. I live in a condominium and there is a developer interested in buying the property. Tonight was only for questions.

Oh Ron, I hope they start your Entivyo soon!

I also hope everyone else is doing as ok as can be. And I'm waiting for the pond to be filled in soon. I'll grab a shovel from this side. On second thought, I'll grab some bulldozers.

I didn't have a chance to call the cardiologist's office, my diabetes class didn't take a big break like last week, but I did talk to the cardiology nurse/nutritionist at the class as well as my general practitioner in a follow up appointment today after the class. In talking to them (and looking back) I realize that for most people my syncope experience would be an ultra scary thing to have happen (not that it isn't scary for me too), but I was told back when first diagnosed with PH that I would just have to get used to my "new norm." Dizziness, breathlessness, chest pain, etc. are all part of this condition. I will still send am email tomorrow tho. At least they know what is causing mine, but you are right Trysha, they may have to adjust my meds. I also got set up with my home oxygen concentrator today for at night therapy with my c-pap, so it was a busy day. I was trying to write a post here earlier this evening, but fell asleep right in the middle of it. Doug and I did manage to watch (after we both had naps) "The Theory of Everything," a movie part romance and part the goings of Stephen Hawking as he became a physicist at Cambridge and developed thru his disease. His story fascinates me.
Well, it's the middle of the night again. Time to go back to sleep. Have to go to ENT tomorrow to see if he can fugue cause of my cough, since it's been going on so long. Family doc thinks he'll scope me. Uggghhhh!
Night night folks, I'm nodding off.
Zzzzzzzz

Sandy, given your situation you're excused filling in "the Pond" duties.Let Mandy do it.hahaha.Can you imagine Trumps face when he sees us lot going back and forth.I'm coming over on Little Blackie.I'll put a trailer on the back, so I can bring those of you who want to,over for a visit.(We do talk some rubbish on this thread sometimes, don't we)
Back to serious stuff.I woke with a heck of a pain in my groin / hip area.I had to hold onto the furniture for support.I even had to bring our early morning tea back to bed in two trips.I may have over done it while cycling yesterday, also it's the leg that I swing over the seat. Two tramadol has eased it, but no cycling today and no more pills to see if it returns.I hope you all had a cosy and restful sleep.Back later. Hugs.

Carol, oh no, I hope you're okay! Feel better soon. When the pond is filled in, you can borrow my bike trailer. :) It fits 2 small children or one large corgi, ha ha.

Sandy, do you mean like an upper endoscopy? Or would the doc be able to scope your lungs? None of that sounds pleasant, but I hope they can figure out the cause and get your cough stopped already. It's been many months now, right?

Ron, I hope you don't have to move! I hate moving, it's so much work!

I hope everybody's doing okay today? I still have a cold, yuck, still coughing and full of mucus, but I don't feel too bad otherwise, so I can't complain too much. It finally stopped raining (for now) and the sun is shining and it's Friday so it's a pretty good day!

Hope you feel better, Sandy! And everyone else.

I just got back from my 2nd visit to the DMV. All I wanted was a driving license. First they wanted to re confirm my immigration status, so they sent me home though I showed them my valid visa. Today everything went well but my God, they are so rude. It's like they think everyone who comes in is dumb. I felt so intimidated and angry that they treated me like this. I have my road test in a couple of months and hope it goes well. Sometimes, they keep reminding me that it sucks to be an immigrant here.

What a hassle sorry. My soon to be son-in-law was born in Mexico but has spent almost his whole life here and now lawyers are making a ton of money on scared immigrants making sure everything is ok......wish flap head would just quit and say just kidding it's not fun anymore!

I agree,Cat, and I hope your cold clears up soon. Also, I don't want to move far from my son. I hope everyone is feeling well.

......wish flap head would just quit and say just kidding it's not fun anymore!

Jane, I wish for that too! I just saw an article in the news today where he said he didn't realize that being president would be such a hard job. Um, duh? I don't know that I could think of many more difficult jobs, like it's pretty obvious that being president is a difficult job. I hate that horrible man so much, ugh.

Hello Sandy...very glad to hear you took further action.i don't envy you with the possibilility of a bronchoscopy...but they usually give an anesthetic for it.,so it will be ok.
i am not looking forward to the scopes of a different colour I am scheduled for soon.If a crohns cure is found it will put an awful lot of people out of work.....just saying....
Carol I know that sickening pain and sometimes get it when climbing into bed.,or onto an exam couch at the physiotherapy sessions ..It does take a while to go away.Feel better soon..
I cross the pond on the back of a giant lunar Moth....quite comfortable lots of fresh air, lovely views...and a lot easier than filling in a space of water.
Actually we need that water especially so for the life sustaining livestock and veges like seaweed it contains, employment for the shipping and trawling industries as well as navies to protect us.
Also how about the pleasure we get when viewing the corals in the ocean depths....catching crabs in the shallows.... breathing in the fresh sea air.... better stop here so much to be said....would not like to be a bore with too many details.
Winning....

Lol, right? That article was so amusing. Did he actually think he can have his minions do everything and just sit back? Come to think of it, that's what he seems to be doing. Every weekend at Florida!

I'm sure he did and what he's done in years. He was just bored and thought this will be fun maybe I'll run for President. It probably shocked him to death that he won. I'm just glad I no longer work at the Pentagon or I'd be in Leavenworth for speaking against the commander and chief....he doesn't deserve that title. He makes me want to move back to my ancestors home in Ireland or Scotland.

Well Mandy will be glad she only has to build a bridge. That's a better idea.
The tramadol seems to have worked. It's been over six hours and the pain hasn't returned. Fingers x'd.

Oh hells bells...now you mention a bridge. .im nearly half way through filling the blooming thing now . :rof:

So very glad the tramadol is doing its job Carol! And the post I had to delete because it was (never finished and) out of date yesterday when I fell asleep had some comments that I forgot were in there, meant for you Madhu (and now Jane). I share in the frustration at the immigration policies Trump put in place, some horrible things have happened as a result. Please realize, Madhu, that the DMV is just living up to their reputation, and it is never pleasant there for anyone, even those from the US. To be treated that way is still not right, though. Also realize most people (if they have half a brain) don't judge just based on ethnicity, and if they do, it's their loss because they miss out on friendships with people like you. Both my cardiologist and neurologist are from India, and I wouldn't go to them if I didn't think they were capable. I particularly like my cardiologist.💓 Jane, we have seen local horror stories about people deported to Mexico and other south American countries, most of whom have had no recollection of their birth countries. I hope your family's situation works out ok.
Well, I did go to the ENT doc, he did a laryngoscopy right in his office (not too unpleasant, I'd rather have that than an upper GI or colonoscopy especially any day), and he is thinking most of my cough is just from plain ol' asthma. He decided to put me on another dose of prednisone even though I told him I had been on two since this all started (on Dec. 8 after lung function study), then I'm to see him in two weeks again, the same day I finish the pred. If not significantly improved, he will do a more advanced asthma and/or other studies. There might be light at the end of the tunnel for the cough.
Cat, I hope your cold disappears, like yesterday. Colds and nausea are right up there on the list of things I don't tolerate well. I can deal with migraines, mini strokes, heart racing (in short bursts), but not those two things. That is why I really feel for you people who can't eat, that is the worst.
Hugs to all!

Oh hells bells...now you mention a bridge. .im nearly half way through filling the blooming thing now . :rof:

Please don't quit your efforts, we'll rearrange it to a causeway. That way it will leave the water and Doug doesn't do well on the lunar moth. There was a story brought to light recently here in the US (amongst a rash of airline horror stories) about a person who was arrested by the FBI because on a flight where they had a long wait on the tarmac (he never got up in the air), after asking to use the facilities once and denied because they were not in the air yet, then waiting even longer, he couldn't hold it any longer and hurried and used the bathroom, only to have the plane returned to the hanger surrounded by FBI cars, etc. and everyone told they had to deplane while they searched the plane with bomb sniffing dogs, etc. The FBI released him but he is banned from flying on Delta again. All because his bladder was about to burst. Ridiculous things happening in the US anymore. All I could think of was you poor crohnies.

Image of end of causeway (about seven miles long, so ours, across the pond, will be a little longer, but a very comfortable ride). This causeway in the pic is very near us, about one town away, from Syracuse to Antelope Island on the Great Salt Lake.

Very best wishes to all of you feeling unwell. Hope things improve very quickly. Big hugs :ghug:💕💞💝

Ah ah!! il start to make the causeway from the point im at .. it will save a lot of time. So see ya all sooner than planned... get the kettle on. Mines tea, milk n 2sugars please ☺

Love n support to all 💞💞

Sandy, I have been to Antelope Island! My mom and I went there years ago - probably around 10 years ago or so (it was before I got sick). It's a really cool place with a lot of great wildlife! I didn't realize it was so close to you, but of course I didn't know any of you guys 10 years ago (I got sick in 2009 & joined the forum in 2010 - and I think it was 2007 that we went to Utah and Idaho).

Nausea is one of my top two most hated symptoms, too - vertigo being the other symptom that I cannot stand. (And both of which cause vomiting so I guess I really have 3 symptoms that I absolutely hate.) I don't mind having a cold so much. It's annoying, but it's not debilitating the way that nausea or vertigo can be.

Oh, I saw that article about the guy who desperately had to use the bathroom as the plane was delayed on the tarmac and it gave me chills because that so easily could be me or any one of us here! Such an insane over-reaction by the authorities, and what was the guy supposed to do? Relieve himself in his pants or on the floor of the plane?

It reminds me of the weird, fascinating story of Tycho Brahe - he was an astronomer. His life had many interesting and odd highlights (he had a fake metal nose and a pet moose which drank beer, among other things) and his death was no different. He apparently died of a burst bladder - he was at a party, and it was apparently a huge breach of etiquette to leave the party to use the bathroom, so he held it in so long that he then died!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tycho_Brahe

Juulez, oh no! I'm sorry that you're in the hospital! I hope they can get you feeling better and that you can go home very soon.

As soon as I'm on board I talk with the airline people and tell them I have crohn's disease and have never been talked to when getting up with the seatbelt signs turned on. Every case amazingly they've known someone with this disease. I'd rather have the embarrassment of talking about it ahead of time then an issue later for sure.

I sure know what you mean about nausea battling a lot of that, dicyclomine is my friend right now.

Got the pond filled in yet? I could use a change of scenery. 😀 Hope it's a good day for all.

One thing I shy away from is American politics, or just politics in general. I have no right to tell another country what to do. I still like you Americans though, no matter who is in charge. I do however, find some of the comments that you folks make to be rather funny. :)

Cmack, I try not to get too political. Having said that, I like your president so much better than ours! Want to trade? ;) I'm jealous that you guys have universal healthcare AND a president who is literate.

Hello Juulez ...sorry to hear you are in my least favourite places and hope you will soon be out of there and ready for some aerial adventures with my Lunar Moth....she will take you anywhere in the world and is used to my transatlantic haunts.please keep in touch with us all and let us know how you are progressing.Shanen...you too can borrow her and travel wherever you would like.
It would be a pity to fill in the pond when it is so valuable...
Sandy that is a beautiful picture...I have never before seen a causeway...very interesting..hope you are feeling a bit better
Winning...

It appears that I am feeling a bit better then Julie. I'm so sorry to hear you are in the hospital! When you are up to it, keep us apprised, but in the meantime I hope we can keep you somewhat entertained. I hope you feel better very, very soon. Myself, I'm improving slowly but can't seem to get any real energy ...
Regarding the U.S. politics I understand CMAC. I know there are many things that most of you would not agree with on my line of thinking politically, but the immigration policy with Trump I think is atrocious. I also think he is not presidential material in general, but there are some things he has done which I actually agree with. I won't go into it be beyond that. (Don't anyone throw rotten tomatoes! Or stones!) What I really don't like is how divided this country is right now.
It is interesting you saw Antelope Island, Cat. The island has a few interesting points to it, but not one of the most scenic places in Utah. In some ways down right ugly. But the prolific bison are interesting, and if you made it to the Fielding/Garr ranch, Doug's Great grandfather (or great, great grandfather) drove the first herd of cattle across the plains with the Mormon pioneers, and they ended up there so the cattle could be contained. It's the oldest still working (tho public) ranch in Utah. The little tour of the ranch doesn't even say anything about Doug's ancestor, because although he got the cattle there and started the work, the Fielding and Garr families are the first to stay any length of time. The Great Salt Lake is also a very stinky, bug ridden, too salty for fish lake, but does have some interesting waterfowl. But if you go swimming in the water, all the salt makes it impossible to sink! (Most places it is very shallow though and hard to drown anyway.)
Going for now, going to watch the Utah Jazz later to see if they go any further in the (basketball) playoffs tonight. And watching "Cops" right now. Just being lazy.
Hugs. (Thanks for working on the causeway Mandy.)
P.S. I think the reason a simple cold is up there on my list of least liked things is because it tends to limit my already limited breathing. I don't think the docs realize how much of a problem that has been, but starting to.
P.P.S. No, Trump is not "hot" at all.

Madhu, agreed! :D

Sandy, yes, I've floated (swam is not the right word) in the great salt lake. I remember it was disconcertingly warm and of course you float very oddly in it, so much buoyancy. :p And it was full of brine shrimp (sea monkeys?) and not much else. And I remember that it took about 16 showers just to get all the salt out of my skin! Yeah, it was pretty gross. I'm glad I did that once just so that I can say I did it, but I never want to "swim" in that lake ever again. We did not see the ranch, my mom is a birdwatcher so we went to Antelope island looking for birds, and then we made our way to Pocatello, Idaho (she ran a marathon there).

Ha, you're lucky that my tomatoes are fresh and not rotten! ;)

Hey everyone, sorry for the inactivity. Thursday and Friday were terrible for me; the nausea from the MTX wouldn't wear off (( _ _ ))..zzzZZ

I'm sorry that you're in the hospital, Julie. Hope you manage to get some rest. Sending you some hugs. Get well soon! (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ

Hope the cold clears up real soon for you, Cat. And that the doctors manage to find out what's wrong, Sandy. And hope that you'll be able to start Entyvio soon, Ron. You've all got my support :ghug:

Sending everyone a bucket of perseverance. 📦

We can do this! ^^

I hope you feel better soon too CYY. Cat, you are right, the lake is gross, the lake has brine shrimp (sea monkeys), but absolutely nothing else can grow in it. I mean NOTHING. The salinity is second in the world right behind the Dead Sea. Locals don't hardly ever go there to swim, except to give their kids the experience. I wish could go back in time and tell you where some bird sanctuaries and viewing sites are (not on the island, but in marshes of the lake nearby, with good trails), but I guess I'm a little late. There are some very unique species and it is on a major migratory route for some birds. A lot of birders go there from all over. I hope you both had a good experience in "Pokey" as some call Pocatello, or "poke-a-tato" as Idaho is known for their potatoes. If you ever come back to Utah, we can show you the good spots. (And no, overall I'm not a Trump supporter, so you can put down the rocks😉.)

I think the Canadian leader is hot too.

I've just led a fono Friday and today with 8 Tongan teachers. Steve helped me in the kitchen. I'm sooooo tired now. Still have sore throat, still on antibiotics. Just need lots of sleep now.

I don't know how you keep going K., Talk about determination and stamina.:ghug:I hope you're in bed now.I know it's early but what 've you got to stay up for ?

I have just crawled in to bed. I'm quite stubborn and determined. I think that's what we get for coping with chronic conditions, the ability to persist, persevere and plod on one foot in front of the other. I'm never fast I just never give up. But I will sleep most of tomorrow.

Re; causeways. We have one just up the coast,It joines St.Mary's Island .It's only for pedestrians and it's tidal so the island is cut off twice daily. We've gone there regularly all our lives so tend to take it for granted. It's in Whitley Bay if anyone wants to google.
We also have Lindifarne (Holy Island) about an hours drive away. That is also tidal and is about 2-3 miles long.Lots of folk have been stranded and there are towers along the causeway to climb for safety.Cars are a write off though. Lindisfarne is the centre of Christianity,St.Cuthbert built the first monestary there. On Good Friday Pilgrims from far and wide walk across the causeway barefoot and carrying a wooden Cross to have a service there.Depending on the tides of course. It used to be a lovely peaceful place to visit but now there are too many visitors for such a small island and we don't find it enjoyable.I know some of you will find the Christian part interesting,so it's worth a google. The scenary is rather special too.............Back later to ask you questions on your homework. And you might as well take a look at our local Tynemouth Priory,no causeway but a moat of sorts.

I had a lot of brain fog this morning too Ron, not a pleasant feeling. Doug laughed at me when I said, with a wad of pills in one hand, and a glass of water that I started drinking in the other, "oh, I guess I should take the pills before I drink the water." I hope yours has dissipated as most of mine has now. (At least as much as mine ever does:p)
After bemoaning the fact that we couldn't go kayaking at present because of "Chester", and a rough night with heart racing, etc., Doug and I last second went fishing this afternoon about an hour's drive from here at one of our old fishing haunts (Lost Creek Reservoir), and as Doug put it, "I had the biggest fish that I never caught." I had him all the way to the shore before he broke loose. Boo hoo. To be honest, though, I have never caught a very big fish. :ylol: Still, much better afternoon than sitting at home. On the way back, we saw several deer and a rabbit. We both love looking for wildlife. Overall, a good afternoon.
Kirsty, i hope you are getting some good rest and recuperating now.

Re; causeways....

....Back later to ask you questions on your homework. And you might as well take a look at our local Tynemouth Priory,no causeway but a moat of sorts.

Oh, that all sounds so interesting and I'm looking forward to doing my "homework," but I'm going to have to postpone one day as I'm exhausted! It's interesting how each corner of the world has such interesting things.

Hugs to all!

Oh Ron,just know that you're not alone.I'm older than you are,and it doesn't get easier.
I write lists for everything, have done so since my younger days.maybe that's why I struggle sometimes. The worst thing is when you're chatting to somebody and you seize up mid sentence because you can't remember the name of something / somebody /or some place. Then in the middle of the night.PING !!! it comes to you.To late then.I don't think you'd be thanked for a phone call at 3am.staring with "I just remembered......." hahaha

I had an episode of brain fog yesterday too. I went to some garage sales in a nearby town. At one point, I parked the car, went to a garage sale... and then couldn't remember where my car was parked. I looked all around, finally I found my car, but it was a bit scary for a minute. I was definitely lost there for a short time.

I'm still looking around for a newer car to buy, and I think I need to find one that has a fob thingy so I can push the button and hear my car honk the horn at me - that way I can at least follow the sound. My current car doesn't have a fob.

My car does have remote locking but not the horn honk bit. N im always checking if iv locked it coz i can never remember if i have or not 😯lol..

I won't even begin to say all of the brain fog moments yesterday, or most days, what I did say was small example, but yesterday was especially bad. BTW, I make lists too, Carol, I also have for years. (Don't ask Doug about how I dressed the other day out of lack of brain cells. :rof:) Hmmm, never thought about how lists could have led to problems later (implication being not using those brain cells earlier to practice remembering can lead to problems later of course) I not only forget words mid-sentence, I forget what I was saying altogether mid-sentence. So embarrassing. But everyone who knows me knows my stories I tell go in so many directions. It would take a miracle for me to say something without a zillion asides. (A little ADD perhaps?)
How it's everyone today?

I think meds can have a huge impact on this Chris. So can any major illness, come to think of it.

I totally agree. How many of us don't get enough sleep right? That will do one over on you every time. At least we understand each other, when others think we may be a bit daft. :)

Hi yaall I'm doing ok waiting to start med but otherwise doing ok pain but I take meds on a reg basis and don't eat. Just liquids some low residue food if I go out but very little. Getting ready for bed. Hope all are well. 💜J

The bad weather has cleared, strange how much better the body feels with some sun shining on it.still getting very cold in the mornings. Cant complain winter is approaching.

Nap won, it was needed. Laundry done, house put back to order and camper cleaned from winter storage. Busy afternoon. Good to hear from you Trev. It's spring here so the sunshine is most welcome.

Yep brain fog.....that lighthouse is always blaring at me for sure. I've learned to use my phone to remember everything. Something my brain doctor taught me. Alarms for meds. Take pictures of where the car is before leaving into store. Paper calendar with every appt written on it and phone calendar.....then when all else fails my trusty husband calls and reminds me.....huh what was that....fog horn....wow I miss the beach....ooh haven't had salt water taffy in forever....man my back hurts maybe epsom salt bath.....huh why am I in the bathroom....ok I'll go potty again..:)

Just saw this in an article I was reading...find a loo anywhere in the world..enter
diaroogle.com into search bar
Cheers Everybody...have a good day..

I just found some of our posts on google while serching something, i thought our posts would be private , i managed to look at lots of posts and my profile which i thought i had set privacy settings, it seems we cant set everything to private. I think i will change my profile pic so i am not reconised as i dont want certain people reading my posts, any thoughts?

Trev, as I understand it, posts in the general forum (all the IBD content) are public. It is only the posts under members only that are hidden from search engines.

It is hard these days to have any privacy when you use the internet at all in my opinion. But I believe Doug was correct in the way it is supposed to work in the Crohn's forum at least. Julie, tho I didn't say so until now, thanks for the update. Jane, Julie, Shanen, all of you, hope things are better. Below is my take on prednisone, 'nuff said with one last comment. Cat, how do you cope with it long term? It drives me bonkers.

Sandy I can't think where you find such pictures. It was good for a laugh...although the subject matter is so serious.Steroids can be life savers though.
Hope you are feeling a little better...you have so much courage and so much to give to us all with the lovely pictures.
Juulez hoping you feel better soon....Meds can be very trying especially with side effects.
Glad I'm not the only forgetful one here...but I am improving by practising mindfulness and being in the moment.
It has been a very foggy day here today with lots of rain.Looking forward to May flowers from the showers..

Just at docs getting my flu vaccine and more antibiotics and diabetes stuff.

Been busy. Exams coming up. Too many gaps in my knowledge due to constant absenteeism D:

I just wish the doc and pharmacy had loyalty points and prizes. Then I would be a winner. Steve was seeing doc after me. I know not much of a social life. I'm working next two days in masterton then Palmerston North.

Aura, I get points at my pharmacy! That's been fantastic, over the years I've racked up a ton of points. :p Every so often I cash some of them in to get myself something (last time, I got a foam roller for my hip and a cooling gel eye mask for when I have migraines). That's too bad that your pharmacy doesn't have a program like that. It's definitely nice to get points for prescriptions that I needed to get anyway.

Sandy, I have no choice but to cope with pred. It was worse when I was at higher doses, now that I'm at 7 mg it's not too bad. I'm still getting zits and feel a bit crazy at times, but I can sleep at night and am not eating everything on earth.

On that note, I talked to my GI yesterday. I've had nothing but problems trying to taper off of pred. I had talked to the lady who works at the compounding pharmacy, and she said that sometimes people just need to taper super slowly, like tapering by 0.5 mg once per month. I told my GI that, and he agreed that I can try that approach. So, at this rate it's going to take me 14 months to get off of pred! :( But at least I have a plan, and I really hope this one works because all of my previous plans have met with failure.

Had pesto captavvi last night. I go to this place all the time. I even told them fusili noodles. They know me pretty well there but they gave me the wrong noodles. I should have thrown it out but ate it instead. I am paying the price.

Hope it gets better soon Ron, I would have done the same thing and eaten them. When you are really hungry the consequences seem to be forgotten at times.

Wow, Cmack, you won for more than 24 hours! That might be a record. But I'm here to steal your win. :D On a related note, where is everybody??

Exactly ....that's what I wondered Cat...
I think they have migrated elsewhere..
Nice sunny day here but still a chill in the air...
Not yet summertime ...maybe spring is on it's way...
Winning......

Having a squamous cell cancer removed tomorrow. This time will be in the doctor's office instesd of the hospital.

Hi madhu, and everyone else! I got my FMLA approved so now I can help take care of Sandy and myself without my managers complaining about all the time off I sometimes have to take. I am thankful for doctors willing to support the reasons we have to take time off.

That's good news, Doug.

We had a GI appointment this morning. He wants my hubby to stay on the 4 week remicade schedule for now so things get stable
