I'll miss something if I try to reply to everything and everyone I really want to. There again is so much I want to say. Can I just say ditto to most (if not all) of what Trysha (and others) have said? Tony (and Trycia) I really feel for you, I'm now terrified of wind storms, as some of you know, and we didn't even have the rain involved when we had our 2-day hurricane-force wind storm. But who has ever heard about a hurricane in Europe? Stay safe, (and grounded!)
And Carol, I suspected you were feeling poorly still. I hope you get better very soon.πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
Oh no! I started naming individual names! Now I'm going to miss someone I really wanted to say something individualy too! Consider this one big group hug! :ghug: :ghug: :ghug: Please know I care about everyone, every individual here! :ghug:

I'm really worried about Dave.I did PM him a few weeks ago, but no reply yet.
I'm feeling better today,so we'll see what tomorrow brings.Hugs to all of you.xx

Hi all you beautiful wonderful people.
Im grateful for the support here its just great and meant with love. Just as is mine to you all. It means so much to me. Most people dont understand just how this crohns malarky affects us daily even if we are in remission and doing well in general. There is always something that niggles us all the time even if its small niggles compared to flare time. As for those of us in a flare well!!! Theres no chance they will get how we feel then πŸ˜·πŸ€’πŸ€•πŸ˜΄πŸ˜πŸ˜”πŸ˜΄πŸ˜  n thats just a sample eh guys?

Anyhow on a more cheery note then the last few lines...always look on the bright side of life..as the old monty python song says (look it up on google or u tube if you have not heard it its quite funny)

Biggest hugs n loves to all...:ghug:πŸ’žπŸ’ŸπŸ’–πŸ’•πŸ’—

Mandy, I agree 100%. I'm not in a flare, but I'm also not doing great (I think it's stress - work has been stressful, and my dog is dying of cancer, and also I'm trying to pay off my dog's vet bills which ended up totaling about $3400). Yesterday morning I was going to go to the grocery store. But my guts had other plans. After a few bathroom trips, things seemed to settle at least somewhat, and I decided to just go to the store even though I wasn't feeling so great. It was hard, though. I had a bit of brain fog, which meant I forgot to buy bananas, and it was a lot of effort to complete my shopping AND get it all into my car AND get it all into the house AND put it all away. Normal people don't realize how much effort goes into seemingly normal tasks. It's a lot of effort when you're not feeling well, have brain fog, are dehydrated, running to the bathroom, are fatigued, etc. But I know everybody on here gets it. So I'm definitely thankful for our little group as well. I appreciate you guys so much! And I hope nobody else forgets to buy bananas on your next grocery run. :p

Much love to all of you folks. You are all great friends to have and I count myself lucky to have you all. Together we are as strong as an army. Okay, maybe a small one, but all of us are as tough as nails.

Know how you feel Tony...the winds were really powerful here yesterday at 80mph...quite dangerous to be out in it...lifted me off my feet+walker....bit like the kids in that film where they took off into the air on their bikes.....
Carol...hope you are feeling better...it’s the seasonal attack for us Crohnies.....
among other complaints...one day there will be a cure once the researchers get to the physical reasons for it....complex situation.
Madhu ...sorry to hear your news and hope for improvements soon.
I have found acupuncture to be helpful in reducing pains...I don’t think we can expect it to cure Crohns.....
It has cured my toothache pain swiftly on two occasions...but still need the dentist to get to the root of things
I also had a weepy eye for months....I do have dry eyes...but this was so troublesome.
The optometrist says casually ...happens with age...an infuriating comment...when they don’t know they blame age...nonsense.
In desperation I asked the physio/acupuncturist who has my trust...I said could you use some acupuncture to stop my weepy eye...he said he would.
The appropriate needle was applied and my eye has not watered since..it is almost two weeks now.
I already get the acupuncture for knee pain...the good one....not allowed to have needles in the prosthetic knee because of the danger of infection.
However ..in the two years I have been going at intervals....there has never been any sign of infection.
It does stop the migraine attacks...which were frequent.
I asked if he would restore my brain ...he said..that I cannot do,!!
Well I tried..
The acupuncture has helped with abdominal pain ..and also I get to sleep quite well..better than before.
I hardly ever resort to pain killers any more.....although there is an occasional need between the acupuncture treatments.
It is not cheap.....although as a senior he charges half price which is manageable
If we did not have these frailties in life then a lot of qualified people would be out of work!!
It’s an ill wind that blows no good...
Ron...I feel for you...hope you will soon be feeling better
Mandy..I can see you have your problems like all of us and hope you feel improved soon..
Sandy...I could feel your energy in watching the Utes....sorry they lost....feel better
Chris...you have been so busy fixing things ahead of the winter...true to the beaver in beaver country...stay well
Cat...hope you are coping with your health issues and that Lily continues to enjoy her food
To Everyone...you are all a great support with the kind and caring comments..

Winning.......
Thanks Trysha :) I recently started acupuncture for fertility. Hoping to see results soon. I'm going to talk to my acupuncturist about crohn's too.

Glad to hear from you xx

Hope everyone does even a little better because even a small improvement makes a big difference to us ,I’m doing really well stoma wise ,just a few aches and pains which are normal ,
went to the GI for a check up and discovered I had a small parastomal hernia so i’m having to wrap up a lot tighter than I was .

Hernias suck, I hope it pops back in and stays there. All the men in my family have had at least one hernia, I definitely feel for you Tony. Best of luck to you bud.

Well, I got the labs back from my PCP. Kidney shows a rise in one level that is not good. A result of my diabetes. I am wondering if Entyvio can result in kidney problems, since this appeared just months after starting Entyvio to control my Crohn's.

I would ask your doctor, Doug. I wish you the best.

Doug i agree with Ron check with your doctor. Hope it can be normalised again without much hassle . Best wishes n hugs πŸ’ž
Tony oh!!! I hope you can get that monkey of an hernia back soon ..not pleasent to have. Best wishes n hugs to you too πŸ’•

The toilets at work aren't flushing today. The repairman came in to replace a valve, broke it, then broke a much larger, more important valve while trying to fix the first one. So they had to just shut everything off. They're still working on it. Oh dear. Not good!

Sorry

Fortunately they got the toilets working again after about an hour or so. Phew! That was not a fun time!

I'm trying not to laugh, Chris. But I did burst out laughing. :whistleinnocently::biggrin::runaway:
I try and try to be more refined, like Trysha, but I guess I'm just not.

And oh my, I just realized that my post with the pic of the stressed out cat was ill-timed. I promise, promise promise I was referring to me and not to all you were going through with your poor honey, Madhu (or others).Though I didn't say so, I've had him and you in my thoughts and hope nothing but the best for you and yours. Sometimes my own needs just leak, well, more like pour out, here, and at times I know I tend to get absorbed in my own little world.

We shouldn't have to apologise to each other when we think we've slipped up.We all care for each other and this is the best forum/thread online for friendship.I know I slip up at the wrong time occasionally, but it isn't deliberate, and I hope we all take it with a pinch of salt and roll our eyes.Sandy I agree Trysha is a lady and refined, but although I am good mannered and kind, you beat me hands down.Chris, well what can I say ? hahaha

In 2017 a Brazilian great-grand mother discovered that the figure of St.Anthony she had prayed to for years was an elf from The Lord Of The Rings

Cmack, oh my goodness! I'm on pretty good terms with my boss at the moment and I'd like to keep it that way, so I am going to pass on your suggestion. :p I'm one of those women who have to pee like once per hour though so things were getting pretty scary there for a little bit. I was getting ready to sneak out and go find a gas station or fast food bathroom to use! But then fortunately the toilets got fixed. Phew!

Speaking of fast food bathrooms - when I was in Japan, we loved going to McDonald's. But we never ate there once. We only went in to use the bathroom! McDonald's are all over the place in Japan and they reliably had nice, clean bathrooms that were normal western toilets and not squat toilets. They were a lifesaver for us more than once.

Hey guys, apologies for the inactivity lately. Been trying to catch up with 3 weeks worth of schoolwork that I missed during my hospitalisation not long ago.

Went back to collect the MRI results from my GI doc last week, strictures were caused by inflammation, which were in turn caused by a flare. As this is the first time that I've been admitted for an obstruction due to strictures, the doc didn't feel the need to prescribe biologics just yet, as he "wanted to save the big guns for use in emergencies", though he did say that he might discuss the possibilities of biologics should something like this happen again. Same old wait-and-see attitude.

Been heavily reliant on a bottle of laxatives for all BMs since discharge, though I take it only when I've not gone for 3 days or so. No pain, but I do feel bloated sometimes. MTX jab tomorrow.

Trying to get back into the swing of things after having missed school for so long, so I don't foresee myself being very active anytime soon, but I'll try to check in every weekend.

Hope everyone is and continues to do well :ghug:

Cyy...hope things can settle down for you soon love. No pressure to be on here, we understand if your busy. We ask if your there, out of concern n love not because you have to check in ☺. Take care and dont over do things take it as easy as you can πŸ’•

Sandy i suffer from foot in mouth syndrome a lot so dont worry gal. I often post without noticing something then feel bad. Sometimes theres so much to read that i lose the plot 😞. As our Carol says shes bad your worse and im even more worse πŸ˜ƒ

Cat oh close shave there hun. . Toilets are our lifeline at most times. Stuck at work without is a nightmare . If ours all went down id be done for if i needed 1 sharpish. As my work place is out in the middle of nowhere re toilets to use elsewhere. I would be in deep poo poo quite literaly.😨

Hi to everybody keep as well as possible please ☺. Much loves n hugs πŸ’–πŸ’πŸ’•:ghug:

Speaking of concern and love...Kirsty hope your ok not seen you here for a little while hun πŸ’ž

Of.course! Like Carol said, you don't need to apologize. I know you love me [emoji7] 🀣🀣

Madhu, me too, I hope everything is going well with your hubby, with your diet, with your fertility treatment.

CYY, thanks for checking in! As Mandy said, we all care and worry about you. You're so young and suffering so much, it seems so unfair, but we're here for you whenever you need to talk or vent or just check in. :)

Sandy, you know I talk a lot too! I can just ramble on and on sometimes. I think I need a little thing that flashes at me and says "Shut up, Cat". :p

Thanks for all your understanding. Needy Sandy here again, can I have a hug? I've had a hard day physically and emotionally so far...

The gold bronzed leaves of Autumn
Falling softly to the ground
Natures gentle signal
That Snow will soon abound
Transforming ..sculpting landscapes
With beauty unsurpassed
Quietly informing.. another year has passed.

Big HUGS to Madhu and Sandy
Feel better soon
Come to think of it....HUGS to Everyone

In the good news for today, I got most of the paperwork for my retirement turned in today. We also learned that Sandy will be able to stay on my insurance. We had thought Sandy would have to go to Medicare only in January and then we would have to pay to get her on a Medicare D (Prescription) plan. The only thing that will change is her Medicare will become the primary insurer, while my insurance will be secondary.

We also found out we can maintain our dental insurance. Today was an awesome day! The last day I will work is January 12th, 2018, Sandy's B-day.

An ostrich's eye is bigger than it's brain..........Don't take offence guys but I know quite a few men like that, many of them world leaders.

This group needed to hear some good news for a change. So happy for you Doug :)

Doug, that's fantastic! Must be a good feeling to get all the insurance stuff figured out, too. I bet all your work days feel a bit longer now, though, since you've got an end date on the horizon.

Sending hugs to everybody! Especially Sandy and Madhu.

If it's good news you need, I have a little bit. Yesterday was Oct 18th. My dog Lily had her surgery on July 18th, and the vet said that most dogs with hemangiosarcoma don't make it past 3 months from the time of surgery. Well, today's 3 months and one day, and she's still here! Lily is a survivor and a fighter! And she's still eating well and doesn't seem to be in any pain. She's resting a lot, and doing things like coughing, but she seems to be feeling reasonably well other than that. I'm sure she doesn't have much time left, but I'm in awe of her for making it this far. After that first extremely scary week (rushed to the emergency vet for splenectomy on a Tuesday, diagnosed with terminal cancer the following Friday, and started having seizures on that Saturday), she's really rebounded. I was sure we were going to lose her before now. We made it to the bonus round! We get bonus Lily days! :D

Woohoo!! Yay for more bonus lily days and years :)

Madhu, sadly I don't think Lily has got years left - probably days or weeks, probably not months. She's resting much of the time now and she doesn't really have the energy to go for walks anymore - she got extremely exhausted last week when hubby and I took her on a very short (about 10 minute) walk. Sometimes in the evenings, when I get home from work, she has a little energy and even wants to play, but much of the time she's resting. So realistically I know that she probably doesn't have much time left. We're just taking it day by day.

I did make a bucket list for her, though, and so far she's doing great on that. When she first got diagnosed with cancer, I started writing a list of things that I hoped she'd be able to make it to. On that list, I put that I wanted her to make it to her birthday (that was Sept 15th, she turned 9 and we had a birthday party with her friends). I wanted her to make it to the corgi picnic (that was Sept 23rd, it was very hot weather so we didn't stay long but we did make an appearance). And now I want her to make it to the first snowfall of the year. Snow is her favorite thing, and she always loves the first sticking snowfall of the year. When I open the door and she sees that everything has turned white, her eyes get wide, she gets so excited and zooms all around in it! I don't think she has the energy to zoom anymore, but I'd still like her to see the first snowfall if she can make it that long. That's the last item on her bucket list. So we'll see.

really hope Lily makes it to the first snow Cat , hugs and rubs to Lily .

Thanks guys. Unfortunately it's 70 degrees fahrenheit here today so it feels more like summer than winter! We pretty much don't get snow in October but on occasion we do in November, so I'm hoping for that. I think it was 2 years ago, in mid-November, we got something like 8 inches of snow and the roads were a mess. So I know it's possible to get snow soon, I'm really hoping for it (which is not something I'd normally wish for!).

Aww I'm keeping my fingers crossed she can see snow again one more time. Poor little thing xx

Sorry it isn't snow or corgis, Cat, but I thought some sweet cinnamon rolls might cheer you up. πŸ’›

If that doesn't work, on the off chance your next pet is a snake, I found some craft therapy that might help, but you better get it done before Christmas.

I prefer the cinnamon rolls Sandy......
Today I saw the bone specialist and all he could talk about was the level of my renal failure
stressing the importance of seeing a nephrologist....said he was not concerned about my bone status and gave me another appointment for next June.....
It’s a month ago that my GP was arranging for a nephrologist appointment and I’m still waiting.
I don’t believe there is much they can do anyway...I’m certainly not keen on dialysis and
I have not yet arrived at that point
Meantime I am getting acupuncture with high hopes...the physio/acupuncturist is sitting on the fence with this one...I did push him a bit to try it...and I also take alpha lipoid acid..
Soon I will be getting a blood creatinine level so hoping it will show better results...
Meanwhile I had a nice visit to the shores of Lake Ontario after the appointment and it was so refreshing with beautiful scenery...lovely blue sky brilliant sunshine and gently warm...
Restores the soul and my innermost being.
We were the only ones in this area and there was a cargo ship in the bay.
Masses of seagulls out in the water and resting on some booms.
I suppose they are thinking whether to stay or take off down south....
I like it when a big fish jumps up out of the water surveys the scene and quietly slips back
into the safe depths...nature undisturbed....reminds us we are not alone in this 🌎world...
Better health to Everyone...
Winning.......

My husband couldn't believe I hadn't watched Life of Brian....guess I know what our next Netflix will be lol.....funny video.

Oh Trysha, that area sounds absolutely beautiful and like my kind of place! It has been beautiful weather here also the last several days, and as you said it is very refreshing if one can find the chance to sit and enjoy it, especially in the great out of doors. I'm glad you had such a chance. I had a similar experience yesterday in the middle of all my turmoil, I just wish I could have sat there all day.
(I also prefer the cinnamon rolls by the way. Just throwing that in here at this obscure place.)
I'm sorry your kidney condition is as it is of late. I've followed your posts with interest over the years when you mention this area of health because there was a time I was told by my PCP I was in the beginning stages of kidney failure (I don't think I was now because of other labs since), and although I've had some problems with kidneys in the past, mine are about normal now. In fact, all my lab values regarding kidneys including blood creatinine are pretty normal (except one small thing not of significance to my kidney health). I sure wish you didn't have problems I this area. The only thing they can find wrong with mine now is (unless I have an infection where sometimes it is not microscopic) is microscopic hematuria, which by itself is a benign condition. I'm glad your getting your creatinine levels checked soon and hope they find huge improvements. I also hope it helps you to know that at least one person has had their labs turn about as normal as they can when they haven't always been. I know your situation is different than mine, but the point I'm trying to make is I hope it turns out a lot better than expected, like mine did.
More ramble coming
As for me, I'm a lot better than yesterday and even earlier today, both physically and emotionally, even though I broke a tooth last night and it has a very ragged edge and I'm still not physically great, but much improved. I went to my cardiologist's office today for my scheduled three month follow-up, knowing I wasn't doing exactly well heart-wise right now, had some events happen, esp. yesterday, that made me know even more that I needed to see him (I almost rescheduled earlier in the week so I could go to lunch with a friend, and now so glad I didn't). Bottom line, I'll be having my heart/lung pressure retested mid-November to see as exactly as they can (without a somewhat invasive heart cath testing) where the pulmonary hypertension pressures stand at present. He also literally doubled my meds for the supraventricular tachycardia (racing heart, which is one of the many parts of this heart condition) so I'm hoping that helps me feel better than I have of late. (My resting heart rate was 101 in his office today.) I'm supposed to be helping finish Dave's room and getting our laundry done so we can get on the road in the morning, but haven't done much of anything really today. Doug's busy doing laundry now, bless his heart. Don't you all hate it when your illnesses get in the way of life? But we can only do what we can do. I guess we'll leave a little later in the day tomorrow then we planned, but no-one is expecting us until Saturday as we are staying at a motel, not with Doug's family. It will be interesting to see how life changes in the next couple of weeks once we have Dave home. Looking forward to a nice long roadtrip tomorrow.

My husband couldn't believe I hadn't watched Life of Brian....guess I know what our next Netflix will be lol.....funny video.

I first saw The Life Of Brian when I was 18 , I had to travel to London to see it at it was BANNED in Ireland at the time (Ireland was a different country then)
It was and still is one of the best movies ever made .

Cinnamon rolls! I'll take a dozen, please. ;) Probably not going to get a snake anytime soon though, I prefer mammals and insects. (In addition to my cat & dog, I also have a gerbil and a praying mantis.) (No, I'm not going to make a sweater for my mantis! Ha!)

Trysha, do they still give you a number to gauge what level of renal failure you're in? I remember a long time ago, when I was in college, my grandpa was dealing with some level of kidney failure, but like you, it wasn't yet bad enough that he had to do dialysis. He said that they give a number between 1 and 5 - I think 1 was that your kidneys are fine, and 5 is that your kidneys have totally failed. I seem to recall that my grandpa was at a 3.5 back then. A few years later, he had a cardiac arrest and was revived, and had to have a quadruple bypass surgery on his heart. The long period of being under anesthesia (7 hours) for that surgery destroyed the remainder of his kidney function, so immediately after that surgery he had to go on dialysis. He ended up being on dialysis for nearly 10 years until his death last year. Hopefully you won't have to go on dialysis for a long time yet! But if you weren't already aware, anesthesia can apparently hasten renal failure. Or at least long periods of being under anesthesia can.

I can defo smell carol shes not that far from me😁 haha.
Sandy hope the test come good for you.
Trysha hope things go well for you too.
Cat heres to the 1st snow fall for lily to see.⛄❄ Bless her.
Life of brian is funny... as to tony saying it was banned in Ireland. It was i think in other places too as it was deemed blasphemus if i recall correctly. If you take light heartedly it is very funny. Its maybe not for the very very devout religous as they may take offence.

Im just saying as i dont want anyone to watch it and be offened as thats not my intention. Im religous to a degree but i just took it as a film that was comedic and not done to cause offence really.

Best wishes n hugs n love to all.

Hi all. I’m glad it’s a long weekend. I was in Thames, and Matamata and Hamilton last week. I slept well last night. The cpap machine is making a big difference for me.
My niece is doing well, she managed to sit on the edge of her bed for a bit. She still needs another operation for a bone graft and skin graft.

I’ll post a couple of pics to make you smile.

I’ll post a couple of pics to make you smile.

Best wishes n hugs n love to all.

thats very well put Mandy , when I posted Always look on the bright side of live in the video /song thread I did not post the video from the movie for that reason .

Beautiful pics, Kirsty. Jammer looks so good. You too ;) good to hear your niece is feeling better.

Re "Life of Brian," even with what said above (which I understand and appreciate too), I'd probably like the movie and then still feel guilty. :shifty-t::eek2::p:eek2::facepalm::redface:
Well, we made it to Vegas last night. We were thinking how weird it would be to see Mandalay Bay with all its notoriety of late. The good thing, even though we went right past downtown and "The Strip," we did so from the freeway, saw a lot of the big buildings and casinos from there, Mandalay Bay wasn't one of the ones that we could see. Whew!

Well I'm excited (NOT) to tell you that the Christmas Decorations are up in the town square. No tree yet though and maybe the said decs.are not lit up yet,but they're there.
Also, according to today's paper. the sale of sweet mince pies,a seasonal brit delicacy (?)
has topped four million and Christmas puddings one million. I'm so over the season of goodwill already. It's all the worse for me because those of you that know me are aware that I just DO NOT do Christmas at all.....Baa,humbug !!!!

Carol...my xmas decs at home consist of a small bah humbug plaque. Having done xmas for the last 13/14 years at garden centres the novelty has worn off.
It may be abit more bearable having the lovely Jaxon to experience xmas over the next few years then back to it being just an expense we could all do without.

Kirsty so glad to hear the cpap is helping you. Thats great news ☺ also that your niece is doing well. Shame she was put in that position tho.πŸ’•

Sandy yes i agree you would probably enjoy the life of brian and then feel quite guilty. I think that if you cant laugh at religon sometimes you end up with the lunatics that are bombing places in the name of it. Laughing at it does not mean you believe or think of it any different. Its just a moments light heartedness that soon passess. So dont feel to guilty if you get to watch it β˜ΊπŸ’• glad you got to Vegas safely.

Tony hope your doing ok. I figured what i wrote summed it up reasonably well re the film. I just thought forwarned is forarmed πŸ’•.

Big hugs n loves to all. :ghug:πŸ’žπŸ’•πŸ’

Hi Ron old chum. How are you today?.
Iv had trouble with my hips today being painful. Thought i may have had to go home from work at one point. I felt as if my right hip was going to pop out of its socket 😨😨.

Mandz, they say time flies as you get older, and it's true.So you'll be home before you know it,I hope.....Christmas will be a good one for you this year, because Jaxon will ne taking more notice and hopefully NOT just playing with the wrapping.

What did E.T.s mum say when he got home ?
"Where on earth have you been"?

Hey, just checking in.
Been having a sore in my mouth and another one on my left elbow for quite a few days now D:
Schoolwork never seems to end :(
Would have made a longer post if I wasn't feeling so lethargic today (effects of MTX should have worn out by now) ._.
Hopefully next week will be a better week. Hugs to all :ghug:

CYY,try not to work too hard.I know you'll have some catching up to do but you need to be kind to yourself.

Carol time flying.. its blooming flying supersonic girl.
No sooner got home than im back at work!!!
Im sure it was only march last week
Jaxon will still most likely play with the wrapping just to be awkward haha

On way back from Vegas, more about it later, I'm exhausted, but it's been a very good trip in a lot of ways, just no time for play. Good luck with your MRI tomorrow Ron, Mandy, no running for you, and may Santa stay away from shops for a long time, and run out of those he is already in. I'm sure he doesn't like what he sees.

This one's for you Sandy........If you get a stitch in your right side while running, try to exhale as your left foot hits the ground and vice versa.

I hope you're all home safe.I expect you'll be tired so you can practice the above advice tomorrow and let us know if it worked for you.:thumleft:

To laugh out loud is lots of fun..
Loud laughings not outrageous
β€˜Cause laughing loud and laughing long
Is very advantageous

So laugh out loud and love to laugh
Loud laughing is courageous
For when you laugh, the laugh you laugh
Is often quite contagious.
