I hope you are all having a Merry Christmas and are enjoying the time out from the regular daily grind with your loved ones and friends.

I hope you are all having a Merry Christmas and are enjoying the time out from the regular daily grind with your loved ones and friends.

For us it was just like any other day except the TV progs were more rubbish than usual, and that's not easy.As my friend used to say "It's just like a Sunday with nuts, and we polish the apples" :ylol:

Whew! I'm glad Christmas is over. Even though it is a Christian holiday and I am Christian, I don't want to do that again. 'Nuff said. (I'm a grouch today. Sorry.)

When you wish upon a star...makes no difference who you are....anything your heart desires will come to you........
Anyone found this to work...?..?....?..
It’s getting colder and colder here....heading for the deep mid winter ..loadsa Snow !,
Went to the mall today....walking was so cold...then the mall was too hot...
Hope everyone is keeping warm and feeling better for the New Year....
Carol...our tv is just as bad.....no one seems to notice the lack of viewers.
Sometimes we get lucky with good programmes from England.....

Dear Grouchy,I don't care how much you didn't like it, we all hope you'll be around to suffer next years festivities and all the others to come. Why should I suffer alone.?

Doug read this to me earlier today and I've been chuckling to myself ever since. :ysmile::ysmile::ysmile::heart:

How come we put a man on the moon before we figured out that wheels on luggage might be a good idea ?

Excellent question, since the invention/discovery of the wheel was a major turning point for mankind. What else can we put wheels on. Hmmmmm 🤔

Hi Madhu...hope you are keeping well and enjoyed the holiday season...
I’ll share the space with you....Seem to have flu cold symptoms...hope it’s just allergy..
Little under the weather anyway...
Too much snow and ice around here...makes it difficult to get out and about..which I do
But not without some trepidation....
Hope everyone else is ok and maybe recovering from all the festivities.....
Winning....

A man thinks he amounts to a great deal, but to a flea or a mosquito he is merely something good to eat.

Too cold here (-24F) for much to be happening. Hubby and I celebrated our 31st anniversary with pizza. At home on the couch.:rof:
Someone should really question my sanity. Because we have the new house it was agreed it would be my year to host New Year's Eve - for 15 or so of our closest friends.:facepalm::facepalm: I'm keeping it simple with a buffet of chips & dips and meat, cheese and cracker platters. I'm not providing alcohol as I seldom can drink more than the occasional glass of wine so they must provide their own if they feel the need. If they're disappointed then I guess they won't be asking me again. :ylol2:

Happy Anniversary Shanen and Happy New year to you.As I've just posted on another thread, let's be thankful we survived another year and look forward to a happy and healthy (er) 2018.

.thank you for the help and kindness but most of all for being such good friends...it’s called “being there”....

Here's to GREAT health for the coming year for all of you.

(Including colds and allergies Trysha. GREAT GREAT GREAT health to you. ) Keep warm everyone, and can't wait to see the 2018 baby, Madhu.

A last seasonal joke....I wrapped my Christmas presents early this year, but I used the wrong paper. The paper I used had Happy Birthday on it.I didn't want to waste it so I just wrote "Jesus" on it.

Arrrrgggghhhhhh! No more holidays!

Thanks Ron and Doug. You guys are good to me.

Chris, there's a true saying "you can choose your friends but not your relatives"

I know many on here can empathise with you.Sometimes in your situation,it must be like treading on egg shells, trying not to say or do the wrong thing.
But it's a New Year and who knows what it has in store ? Deep breathe, shoulders back and count to ten.YOU CAN DO IT !!!:thumleft: :rosette2:

I'm here. Sorry for being awol so much lately, work has been very busy. I've been learning my temp job and in a couple weeks I move into my permanent position (different department) so I'll have to learn a whole new job then... eek! So don't expect to see me around a lot because I'll continue to be busy at least in the near future. I really love the company that I'm working for, though. They are doing a lot of research in the field of colon cancer, it's cool to be working for a company that's making a difference when it comes to digestive health.

Lily is still doing well. She was given 3 months to live, that was on July 18th. So she's made it about 5.5 months and counting. She's currently chewing on a bone and seems to be feeling just fine!

Tony, how's the puppy? Sandy and Doug, how's the new pup? Mandy, how's Jaxon? Madhu, how are you doing in your pregnancy? Chris, I hope you can figure out a good solution to your living situation. For anybody I missed, hi, how are you? I miss you guys! I hope once the dust settles on my work situation that I can post more again. I'm just so exhausted in the evenings after work, I don't feel like doing anything.

Good to see you, Cat. Glad the job is keeping you busy. Good luck on the permanent position too. And yay, Lily! She is a tough little cookie :)

My pregnancy is going well. I'm 10.5 weeks now and time is just flying. But almost at the end of the first trimester, so I'm glad to put all the nausea behind me. Had quite a tough time with it!

Cat nice to see you ☺ glad its going well and you like working there. Hope the permanant 1 is as enjoyable or even more so..
Aw bless lily she is such a trouper 🐶. Jaxon is doing fine,he is a darling tho he wears me out ☺💕
Madhu glad the morning sickness is on the wane.. keep well and rest when you can. You will be busy once baby comes ☺💕

Chris hang in there bud...think positive... it wont be forever you will be able to get your own place again. Do you have anything where you are like cheap rent social housing. We have council housing here. The rents are alot cheaper than private.💕

Love hugs and best wishes to all
💞💕💝

So good to see you Cat. I have to admit, I still miss Allie (not sure I will really ever stop) but Casper is worming his way into our hearts as well, and quite well. He is a little rascal really, with his own definite personality and quirks. He likes to carry his squeaky toy around, and as it squeaks, he whimpers and cries, but tail is held high and tail waging like a proud papa trying to sooth his newborn crying pup. He's overly sensitive though. He will jump at the sound of a can opening and hide, or hide if anyone even looks at him (except me and Doug now), and tries to be overly protective if a stranger comes in the house, but scared to death at the same time. But he hardly ever barks, likes to snuggle next to me or on Doug's lap, and will run around like a crazy clown dog and pull at his giant dog pillow that he can't budge, or try to catch me by my pant legs as I walk by, and I just can't scold him because he's just trying to "catch me" and doesn't hurt my clothes (so far), and even though he gets too mouthy for a dog with his humans, he is so very gentle at the same time.
I'm so glad you still have your "baby" Cat.
Chris, there is so much I could say to you regarding your living situation, but most of it has been said above. I will say I know what it is like to love family, but it's really hard to be around them. God bless you for your efforts though, I know you are helping them as much or more than they are helping you with your living arrangements. I hope you can find some peace for now though.
Trysha, I hope you are feeling some better. I've seen some recent pictures of the Niagara area, and hope you are staying warm. In fact, a lot of the US has had colder conditions than normal of late also, and I hope all of you are warm and comfortable and safe. We have been having warmer than normal temps here, so can't really complain. We do need a lot more snow pack in the mountains than we have currently though for next spring.
Madhu, wow, you will be approaching delivery of that little baby before you know it. I'm glad your nausea seems to be on the getting better side as well. That magic third trimester end seems to be like a day / night button for so many expectant mothers.
Carol and Mandy, thank you both for being such good support on this forum, each in your own unique way. Carol, you do come up with some good jokes!
Tony, Bufford, Ron, I hope you are all doing as well as can be expected. Same with you Kirsty and Trev.
Well, guess I better try to get some sleep. About 4 a.m. here, haven't been to sleep yet. I have two med tests and then appointment with the pulmonary hypertension specialist at the U of U hospital today, and have to admit I'm a little nervous, both as to what he will find and what he won't find. I'm just glad the appointments are all for the afternoon at this point ... hoping I can get a right heart cath eventually (soon) to see (1) more exactly where I stand and to (2) find the most effective treatments (right heart cath the only way to ascertain both these objectives). Proper treatment can extend life greatly...
Wish me luck at everything...
Good health to all.

hey, I'm still winning!

Not for long!!! Been a bit busy here too, fighting these freeing temps...snowing like heck outside right now...debating how early I want to cut out from work today to brave the drive home with no 4WD.

Hey Lisa, welcome back! Aren't you in New York like me? It's crazy snowing. I hope you reach home safe. Don't take any risks!

Hey Madhu....yes, I'm in NY - in Albany right now where it is snowing away and getting a bit windy.....I'm thinking I may leave an hour early - once I do get home I still have to go get hay for the horses - thankfully that is just down the road and I only need to throw a half dozen or so bales in the truck, enough to feed through Saturday morning.....then again, might need more like double that with the cold coming!

Safe driving Lisa....that’s quite a task this weather getting hay bales for the horses.
They are so dependent on us this time of year...not that I have any horses...but afraid of them to tell the truth...but then I’m a regular townie..
Sandy....thank you for the good wishes.Heres hoping that the medical specialist meet your needs and expectations...can be a tall order at times.
Madhu...we currently have a new baby in the family...a great great grandson....he is now looking around taking in everything and everybody...such a joy.
Carol and Mandy hope you are fighting fit...emphasis on the fighting bit....and ready for the challenges of the New Year
Chris..hope you are feeling better...I am from a large family and at times there were difficulties ...but we overcame them .i am glad to have my own space and know how you feel......just remember nothing lasts for ever...sometimes we have to live minute by minute

Thanks everyone :)

Trysha, that's amazing. Congratulations. Great grandchildren are simply the icing on the cake. Hope you're enjoying with him.

Everyone in the path or the bomb cyclone, stay safe. And others too. We have got almost 8 inches snow already and it's still coming down. Dreaming of spring already [emoji173]

back from our holiday , and started renovating our bathroom, Debs has been waiting a few years, but its getting done now, must say it was well over due, probably 40 year's old.

Hi guys,

I really want to thank all of you here for your support, it means a lot to have friends such as you good people who understand what it's like. Things here have gotten better through hard work and communication. Your prayers helped and they were very kind, (mine are with you too).

Thanks again all you great folks! :)

We are into wind chills of 40 below.....too cold for walking....I don’t drive.....
Think I won’t venture out tomorrow....today was enough for me...could not think straight
and when asked for my card in the department store could not figure which card they wanted....crazy....eventually succeeded though....and I only have 3...two of which are my bank cards...and one card for the store I was in.
That’s where I stopped shopping and went 🏠 home exhausted.
Soon recovered indoors with a hot cup of tea.
I underestimated the power of cold weather and it’s physiological effects....nothing to do with age...
Glad you are feeling a bit better Chris...life can be tough at times...but then...that’s when the tough keep going...and we are all tough on this site...
Can’t believe how time is so fleeting....our new baby grandchild is already three months old
and taking note of his surroundings and engaging in baby talk..
It has stopped snowing for now ...Nature has been busy transforming the countryside from gloomy shades of gray into fresh smooth white landscapes and beautifying buildings..
Nice to look out from the window and safely indoors.
Nope...don’t think I will venture out tomorrow..
Politics are swirling around on the 📺 tv........guess it will never stop..at times could be termed a different type of comedy programme ..
Time to sleep...perchance to dream of halcyon fields and perfect health....
Winning.....

Whew! What a long day yesterday, was at the UofU hospital/pulmonary hypertension clinic for scheduled appointments and lab work from about 1 pm to 6:15 pm. Had a six minute walk test, then VQ scan right after (measures blood and oxygen flow in lungs), then met with doc and his team. To say that I'm impressed with Dr. Ryan is an understatement. FAVORITE DOCTOR EVER! They are efficient, organized, compassionate, listen to concerns well, and obviously know whay they are doing. I have more tests scheduled for later, was poked with a needle for over an hour at the lab and at least ten times yesterday (not because of poor techs, but because I have horrible veins, have for years), while they were trying to get a zillion vials of blood (ok, just 12, some vials for several tests each tho), and also poked for injecting small dose radioactive isotopes for tracking blood flow in aforesaid VQ scan. Because it got so late and my veins kept blowing, had to go back to Salt Lake today to finish blood draw, but that's ok, I'm getting some answers.
Not surprised at all, but found out I either have more blood clots in lungs or some other medical condition blocking blood flow in lungs. (Explains a lot.) A lot more tests coming, including a right heart catheterization procedure, but I'm happy, because this will finally get me pointed the right direction, hopefully improve quality of life and/or greatly increase life span.
Still tired, tty all later, but I love hearing all your stories and how you are all doing. Please excuse me if I don't address anything any of you have said for present, but carry on, jokes and all. xo

(Ok, can't stop jabbering) Although what I said abt my health sounds scary, it is stuff I've been dealing with for a long, long time, so getting into this specialist is a godsend. I'll now not just have symptoms treated, but finding root causes of things can give a lot more direction of where to go from here. It was a very good day.)

Hi Sandy
It’s good to hear from you and to know you have been receiving the proper care at last.
What you describe suggests that past care was sadly lacking.
However, things seem to be on the right track now for proper diagnosis and treatment.
It’s good you don’t mind all the blood work...essential for proper diagnosis together with all the other tests.Dr Ryan has a good old Irish name so the luck of the Irish will be with you.
We used to have a medical specialist by the same name at the last hospital where I worked
and he was absolutely first rate....wonder if it’s the same one.
It’s a big relief to have someone on the ball looking after you.
Wishing you Godspeed......and lots of prayers your way. ..that you will have a successful
journey through the corridors of medicine.
Our weather has become unbearably cold....I am swathed in so many layers topped by a leather parka with hood......have to get out otherwise I’d be stir crazy....need to get to the physiotherapist....can’t stop now because I have been making great headway at long last.
It is a bit tiring though walking with all the layers...
My poor younger brother is now in hospice care after two massive strokes and two seizures.
He is blind and has been asking for me...quite heartbreaking.
Currently I am unable to travel with all the health issues but as soon as I can I will go to see him...and hopefully be in time.
Aircraft have been grounded because of the unusual cold.
Wonder how long Mr Trump will continue in office.....he’s not very fit in my opinion.....
Hope to see warmer temperatures as soon as possible...no sign in sight yet.
.Ron hope you are feeling a bit better.......you are constantly in my prayers together with Chris and Sandy.......take care
Cheers to all my friends on LOW...
Winning......

SandyEverything Trysha posted to you.Wow,you and she don't half go through it.:ghug:RESPECT !!!

Trysha I'm really sorry to hear about your brother.I can imagine how bad you, feel but there is really nothing you can do in your situation, except pray for him,and I know you do that in bucket loads.:ghug:

Trysha sending prayers to you and your brother , hope the weather eases up so you can get to see him

What a bunch of super stars 🏅
You all are :ghug:

Trev. good to see you back, when you're done with the bathroom I've got a few little jobs over here if you're interested.I make good pie and I'll let you ride my bike.(sometimes)

Sandy How did your appointments go ? :ghug:

Everybody, be good to yourselves and keep warm.

no problem, do you need my address to send the plane tickets?

When i see lovers names craved on a tree, i dont think aw thats sweet... i think, its amazing how many people bring a knife on a date!!☺

Love to all 💝💞🙏

Trev, I can just picture you riding in Carrol's bicycle basket, lol. Trysha, you be careful out there in that icy world. I'm so sorry to hear of your poor brother. I also grew up in a large family (nine children:eek2:), and had a lot of comfort in my growing up years with my siblings, but unfortunately my family seems to have lost its closeness as we grew older. I'm glad your family has stayed so close, tho it makes it more difficult when there are great physical distances and physical problems between.
And yes, my new doctor, Dr. (John) Ryan is Irish to go with his Irish name! I looked at his biography, and tho I didn't see any note of his time spent in Niagara area, I did see he spent time in (Ireland, of course), Boston and Chicago, as well as Salt Lake, and he has received more than ten university awards as well as other recognitions. I love to hear his accent in his soothing voice and manner.
Tony, I can almost hear that same voice and accent in your posts. (And your Alfie is so adorable! Anyone who likes dogs is ok by me.)
Chris, are things still going better on the home front? How are you doing?
Cat, I hope Lily is still doing ok, and that your new job is everything you want it to be. I hope your health is holding steady (and well) for you.
Mandy, thanks for being the delightful person you are. I know you suffer more than you let on, but you always encourage everyone while I know you hurt silently at times, but still, you encourage both with kindness and humor. I'm sure it puts a smile on everyone's face, as it does mine. (I'd like to know who brings a knife on a date too!)
Carol, it is hard to put into words what I feel for you. I'll just say this, I'm lucky to have a friend that is also like a big sis, full of wisdom and kindness (and wit).
Kirsty, my friend, I hope you are okay out there. Are you back in NZ? I hope you were able to enjoy your travels and the holidays without further health problems. How's your niece?
Madhu, I hope you're not freezing and staying safe and warm too. How are you feeling now? How's your hubby doing? Have you started to put together a nursery yet?
And Ron, how are you now? I said extra prayers for you.
We are doing ok here. Im headachy at the moment due to lack of sleep, but at least it's not a migraine. As most of you know, our hot water heater went out right before Christmas, and now one car needs repairs that we don't know how much it is going to cost, but will probably be very costly (the problem is somewhere in the electrical system of our hybrid Honda civic, it could be just a loose connection somewhere, but I don't think so), so we are canceling our little after retirement trip to Zion National Park (~ sigh~), but at least we still have food and a roof over our heads. And we still have Casper, and the monster I'm creating out of him because he's just so darn cute when he is naughty. The good thing is, Doug's official last day is this Friday! Doug will also get a very large check his last regular "pay check" at the end of January, cashing out unpaid vacation time, etc., before pension funds kick in, so we'll probably be able to do something nice after that.
Happy Sunday to all of you.

Sandy i hope they put extra in Dougs paycheck just for the fact he is Doug. I have no doubt he has put extra in, in work over the years when not really well enough to have been at work 🏅.
I hope you both get to do something special when the check comes ☺ hoping for a long and happy retirement phase for you both💕💞

Wishing the best to you all. Hoping for better health, peace and love for everyone.
Your always in my thoughts and prayers 💝🙏

Where is everyone...has the world stopped and everyones got off ...except me!!! Oh that means im the winner here at last :rof;

This place has been a might slow lately, people do seem lost. But the Utahn's are winning again! We went to an appointment at the state capitol (since Doug worked for the state) where Doug signed his final retirement papers today with Human Resources. Hooray! Winning!

Hi Sandy, I'm doing okay. It was terribly freezing outside, but we managed to stay warm by not going out at all. Lol. How is the weather there? It's so exciting that Doug is retiring soon. I bet you can't wait :)

Also, I have some news. Hubby landed a job in Texas, so we are moving to San Antonio! I'm glad we are moving to warmer weather, but it's a huge move after being close to NYC for 4 yrs. I'm already in tears thinking about it! Oh well, it's all for good. We need the extra money and extra space for when the baby comes.

Madhu that will be very exciting for you and certainly warmer...no snow in Texas...be careful not to over exert yourself. There is always a lot to do when moving...and lots to think about.
Sandy...lots of excitement your way with Doug’s retirement and your appointments.
Dr Ryan is an exceptional doctor...top class and specialises in patients with shortness of breath.
It looks as though you have the right doctor at last.
Our temperature has come up from 30below....but more snow is forecast....that’s the winter
Have to expect it for a few more months.
Would you believe I have appointments every day this week....will be glad when it’s over..
Cat...hope the new job is good to you and is smooth sailing...
Ron...hope you are feeling someimprovement..
Chris...hopefully you are a bit better...prayers for you and Ron...
Carol......missed your witticisms today.....maybe you are busy like me with appointments...
Winning...

Hi everyone,

Good luck with all the appointments Trysha, I hope next week has a few days off for you to put your feet up.

I have been busy painting the living room and also with appointments. I should have to get in to see the banker this week, if all goes well with my long road to official disability status. The doctor has agreed that I fit the criteria for a couple years, just wrapping up the convincing the government part! ...LOL! (you mostly all know what that is like) My application is more than 90% processed, so I think finances may improve soon.

Keep well everyone, Cheers!

I'm fine, thank you S+T. Sometimes I have quiet times and just like to read and absorb all you posts on LOWs.I'm actually a very quiet soul and happy with my own company most of the time.Hard to believe,I know. And of course, sometimes it's not appropriate to be witty, especially when a lot of you are struggling.I have been known to put my foot in it at times. There is a "joke" thread if you want a laugh, but not if you're easily offended.
Back later,when I've cheered up a bit.....hugs

Good to hear you are ok Carol...I am a quiet person myself so know how it is.
Chris....did you ever buy a lottery ticket....you might win. ..and dream dreams.
About once or twice a year I lash out and buy a $1.....quick pick....win a free ticket or $4....
use the winnings to buy more tickets and then lose the lot...fun for a $......though.
Big change in the weather today.....temperature way up to 1below.....a veritable heat wave indeed after the 40below coldest weather...we have now been invited to watch for the snow.....

Does anyone want to swop governments ? No ? I thought not..... Talk about going to hell in a handcart, the world's gone mad I tell you.:frown:

I have never known such ineptitude in government.
If I wasn't of a certain age, comfortable and so laid back,I wouldn't sleep at night....

Bit like when you have a GI appointment Carol.....and after that it’s like being in a hedge drawn backward...shouldn’t complain I have a first rate GI but the procedures they put you through to cover the ground and achieve their final diagnosis...nuff said..
Now for the long list of tests he’s ordered quite an ordeal ahead.
BUT.......the sun is shining and although still quite cold it’s refreshing to walk in the fresh air
sidewalks slippy snow and icy....quite a challenge but it did not beat me and I’m now indoors with a nice hot cup of English tea.......brought some back with me in September and use it sparingly for occasions. Not going out again today though..... that sunshine streaming through the windows is so inviting but leads to treacherous conditions outside.
Such is life.....
Talking of governments Carol....I don’t think there’s much choice around these days...they make so many false promises...not a lot we can do about that..
Just wait for the next round of elections....and so on and so 5th.....
Cheers Everyone...

Apparently at this time of year women are much more depressed than men.
Could it be that over one third of the female population have started a diet ?
Not me,I'm still ploughing my sweet way through Christmas chocolates and I must add,my will power is astonishing......I have hidden them, but I know where they are.

Today when seeing the ophthalmologist for follow up he sent me to the next room for a
CAT scan of my eyes....anyone else ever heard of this?
It took me by surprise...and the speed of things...no waiting for another schedule just done then and there.
They put so many drops in my eyes prior to seeing the doctor and then more before the CT
scan....it interfered with my use of the iPad.....what a bother....
Results next Wednesday.

It was pouring rain when I went in and I came out an hour and a half later to 3 inches of snow....more in the drifts...why am I 😲 surprised ..it is winter get used to it....
Winning....
