Hey I'm a 21 year old cryptologic technician - interpretive(a fancy title for a linguist :thumleft:) with three years in the Navy and I was just diagnosed with crohns. I was wondering if I am going to be medically discharged now that I am not able to deploy anymore. My doctor said that they are not sure, and if they don't know then who does? They're in charge of the process right?

Hello and welcome to the forum, is the doc who has confirmed the diagnosis one who works for the Navy? I am afraid I do not know about this process but hopefully someone will come along who does and will have good news for you. Have you now been started on any medications? How are things symptom wise for you at the moment?

Wishing you all the best.

Hi Mitchell and welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. From everything I've read, a Crohn's Disease diagnosis will result in a discharge :( Sorry bud.

We're here for you.

Mitchell- I know how devasting news like that can be... I hope you get your answers about a discharge or not. Not all is lost as you can use your Post 9/11 GI bill. Hope to see you around here!

yeah...crohn's=discharge

My senior chief's ex-wife was discharged from the Navy for crohn's. So don't expect a good word back from your doc. I'm so sorry about that.

Anyway, I'm getting tested for crohn's in a week and I am super scared. This definitely ruins my chances of getting in the reserves:-(

I'm hoping for a miracle at this point...
