I've been on 40mg of Pred for just about 2 weeks now. Is it common to lay awake for most of the night? I know I slept because I remember dreaming, but even in one of my dreams I was lying in bed trying to sleep! What's up with this??? How low do I need to get down to in order to sleep again? Just want to know how many more weeks of this I'll have. I am a sleeper, so a couple/few hours a night is no good for me! It seems if I could just "shut my mind off", I'd be able to sleep, but it just keeps repeating little snatches of a song over and over! Drives me MAD!!!:ybatty:

That's exactly what happens to me, a song running through my head all night long!!!! For me it gets better when I get down to about 20 mg. Above that, and I only get a a few hours of sleep each night. I use 50 mg of Benadryl about every other night on those sleepless nights, and that helps me a lot. Good luck!

how many days were you guys on prednisone before you began having the insomnia symptom (and any other symptoms)? i'm only on day 4 of pred, feeling good but now i'm concerned that i'll have sleep problems soon.

I'm pretty sure my sleeplessness started right away, day 1 or 2, but not everyone gets all of the side effects. You may be a lucky one and not get the sleeplessness!! Think positive.

I've been on a 40mg taper now for over a month. I'm stuck at 30mg and I can't go down right now because my flare is not behaving.

So YEAH I cannot sleep either. I dont' remember it being this bad last time I was on pred but let me tell you..about 3-4 hours is all I can get lately. I goto bed at 1am and get up at 6. It is NOT fun.

I get rather cranky about this time of day (afternoon.) Because then I AM sleepy but I'm at work so I cannot freaking sleep.

Har har har... =/

Definately, this is the only symptom I got with prednisone. Its 1:23am right now and before prednisone I'd be sound asleep for hours by now. I read somewhere that you should take your prednisone as early as possible in the day so that its levels are the lowest by the time you get to bed. I also find it helps to read or unwind a bit rather than just jumping into bed and lying awake thinking for hours on end.

The insomnia has improved a bit for me lately, I can usually get right to sleep but wake up at 4am every night and can't get back to sleep except 10 minutes here and there.. I usually give up trying around 6am and head to the kitchen to make myself an enormous gourmet breakfast (okay so I got 2 side effects with prednisone).

You and I are having the exact same problem.

I goto bed at 11-12 and fall asleep but dang I wake up at ...3am...4am..5am...and then at 6am I just give up and get up. I'm so frustrated. Speaking of. I'm going to bed.

LOL need to get my 3-4 hours solid sleep....dangit.
This work week is kicking my butt. No sleep and my DH was sick today and we had to do a few doc's appointments.

He never gets sick. =( So today was unusual but I'm dogged tired.
