My sisters friend has just found out she's pregnant and her doctors surgery has asked her to go down for a swine flu jab.

I read her letter the other day and it says that along with pregnant women, people on immunosuppressants should have the jab. Now i've never heard anyone talk about any swine flu jab over this and such.

Any thoughts?

AGES ago when swine flu was a big concern, my gp sent me a letter saying they had sent letters out to all the people on their lists that were at risk and set up an out of hours clinic to get the jab; the same way they do every winter for flu jab.
I didn't get any side affects from the jab just hurt my arm like heck afterward!lol

I had to go for a swine flu jab as I was on aza, my gp also sent me a letter. I would def suggest speaking to your GP to get one sorted. No side affects here either

I got the swine flu jab but not the seasonal flu. I never get the seasonal flu vaccine, but my doctor specifically recommended the swine flu one (H1N1).

yep... when the epidemic scare of swine flu was at it's height last year, my gp told me that because of my Crohn's, i'd be eligible to be in the 2nd phaze of immunization, the 1st phaze being medical staff.

i had a think, then declined, decided to take the risk rather than have something injected into me i might have a bad reaction to.... strangely, my daughter caught it, and despite me being the one to nurse her, i never caught it myself.

Well, i'd arranged a doctors appoinment on friday anyway so i think i'm going to mention both jabs when i see him.

Thank you for the replys, much appreciated. :D

I had the swine flu shot earlier this year - no reactions to it - but I also hadn't been diagnosed and on medication for Crohn's at that stage.

Our whole family was advised and consented to get the vac. for swine flu because of EJ's crohns. No one had any reactions to it.

At my surgery I was told that Crohns disease no longer meets the criteria for flu or swine flu shots. each borough have to fight this one out with their Primary Care Trust.
I got swine flu (allegedly) last year and was given Tamiflu flu tablets, after an online consultation with NHS Direct. I was given priority when I mentioned Crohns to them, other than that, we're not on the list anymore.

I have had the shot, and I get a flu shot every year. This year I also had a pneumonia shot and the Hepatitis Vaccines.
