What is YOUR weather like today??

I am going back to my satelite TV provider, I tried the online TV, lots of channels but nothing on. I fumbled around with the remote trying to find news, and the user interface is frustrating and counterintuitive. Its not worth saving money in this manner, a proper subscription is what is needed. My nephew said that I have been moody ever since I cut the TV subscription, I thought about it and he is right. Carol, the weather has been about as bad as it can get for the time of year, the neighbor's kiddy pool that was emptied is once again full from the recent rain, and its likely there will be more coming. We had a thunderstorm and power outage last night, the fog was so thick one could not see the flashes of lightning.

Scotland has had the first snow of the year, early even for up there.Just a few centimeters but it's a start.

Buff,it's sometimes good to save money but not if it makes you miserable You need good tv on those long winter evenings.

We have been warned of severe thunder storm cells sweeping thru tomorrow. Several streams in flood in central western NSW. The way things are going we will not be able to afford listening to a radio. Everything costs so much. Ron.

A nice day coming up warm and sunny in contrast to the rains for the past week. I want to cut more wood this afternoon. They are claiming the arctic is starting to chill out and the arctic vortex is healthy. With the cost of heating and eating, it will be a big struggle for many this winter.

Yes Carol it was a spectacular and dignified funeral. More rain coming here. All of the rivers are high and any significant rain will cause nmajor problems, ron.

I hope the rain decides to be kind to you Ron and flows around your pad and not through it for a change. 17c here so no complaints.Going to buy another hot water bottle tomorrow before they sell out. They're good for snuggling down under a fleece blanket to watch TV. Hoping it will save the rising heating bills. It's worth a try because no doubt the cold weather will arrive with a vengeance very soon.

It was quite a funeral, and today not a word about it anymore, the world moves on, life is such a fleeting thing. The wood effort was slow going after doing nothing due to the week long rains. I'll get more done today for as long as the weather holds, nothing worse than a cold house in winter.

Cooler today but daytime temps have been close to 30 c in the last week. Looks like winter is over and once again we may miss out on spring and slip straight into summer. Not looking very good for a quiet life. It is school holidays and both upstairs neighbours have had visits from grandchildren. A half inch timber floor does not filter out much noise. Ron.

Yesterday was warm, but today its much cooler and the foliage on the trees are showing more color by the day. Not a great situation Ron, and that floor doesn't hold water either when that tenant upstairs lets her kitchen flood. Living alone is very quiet, but it has drawbacks. I guess it works both ways.

18c and warm but rain forecast tomorrow.Buff what's that quotation on your avatar.I keep meaning to ask but I think we're so used to identifying who's is who's I forget.I know it's something to do with wilderness.
Ron,let's hope the visits are short and infrequent .I well remember our lovely neighbours grandkids, the little sods, but they've all left school now and never come. Time flies like the wind but fruit flies like a banana

warm but heavy rain. It's the autumn solstice this weekend when day and night will be 12hrs long and then of course the days get shorter Bring it on !!! Have been to supermarket to stock the cupboards and freezer up for Scott's arrival tomorrow night. He'll be airborne now and has a stop off in Kualalumpa for 2hrs and then a 4hr wait in London,He'll be here by 11pm ish.......I mean what sort of time is that to arrive at your aged parents ?

3C Very fall like. Its officially autumn now, I like the long evenings, but the dark mornings are another matter. I wish I knew how to resize the font in the Avatar. It reads; 'The man can be taken from the wilderness, but the wilderness cannot be taken from the man'. Its true in many ways, from the clear cut logging, to the day I will have to leave this place for a senior's apartment or worse. The words came to mind when I was in hospital for the big operation 21 years ago. It was summer, I had a full tan from canoing/camping but now laying in a hospital bed close to death from infection knowing I would not see the summer sun and lakes for a very long time, or perhaps never again. Luckily I came home, but life went on albeit a different path.

Very heavy rain overnight. I just hope we have a break before the next lot. I had to get up at two am this morning and turn the fan on as it was still 25c. It was an unpleasant nights sleep with lots of bad dreams. I can do without that. Ron.

There was frost this morning, but at least the house is comfortable. The neighbor helped me pile firewood and told me how he heats only the bedroom with an electric spaceheater while the rest of his place is stone cold. For many have to live like that as heating costs are beyond what most can afford. I would have to do the same if it were not for wood heat.

Some severe flooding down on the Gold coast. Several cars swept away in central NSW with one child missing. We have a couple of days respite then more rain. Temps steadily rising. ron.

Its a wet one today 9C. I couldn't access this site yesterday, I suspect it may have been hurricane Fiona that crashed through and left a mess throughout the east coast yesterday. A lot of flooding, trees down and flattened buildings, winds up to 180 kms were reported.

13c and a nice day, Had a walk down to the river with Scott. he took lots of pics and I only wish I could upload them.
How's your new neighbour Ron ? Has she made you an apple pie yet ?

I have hardly seen her . She does not appear to have moved much stuff in Carol , I really don't know what is going on there. We are expecting bad storms today as is southern NSW and even north of West Australia and the northern territory. Ron.

-3C last night, heavy frost. When the sun came out yesterday afternoon I got a lot more done than I had planned at the woodpile. It probably was pent up energy from being housebound due to days of rain. Its a nice day coming up and I plan on doing more wood.

a bit nippy this morn. and raining quite heavy now.Definately Autumnal. Haven't been far with Scott. He's happy to stay local and catch up with old haunts and mates.so no wurries/

ily now

It was too cloudy to get much heat on the ground yesterday so the storms did not power up. Cloudy with showers today.Ron.

3C A nice fall day shaping up. Nice here, but its a mess where both hurricane Ian and Fiona hit. People are complaining about a lack of cell service, but given the damage its not surprising, it will take awhile to clean up and rebuild. Fuel prices shot up by 50 cents a liter or more, yet the oil refineries on the gulf coast were spared.

Cooler today with cloudiness 5C. Yesterday was sunny and warm, I worked on firewood cutting extra. With the high costs of everything, I have to make some spending cuts, the first to go is heating oil, the money saved will go into the grocery cart.

Just got woken at 4.30 with the smoke detectors going off. There was no obvious cause but when I went back to be I noticed a thermostat warning on my cpap machine. It looks like that might be stuffed. that's nearly two grand ,cant see me getting a new one. Always something screwing up and always on a Sunday. Ron.

Thats not good Ron, unexpected expenses seem to always creep up at the worst possible moment. I didn't get anything done yesterday, I simply needed a time out from trying to get ready for the winter. I want to bring in another large pile of wood into the bin into the basement today or maybe tommorow, the longer its out in the dry air the better, but it won't be long before unsettled weather moves back in. 1C sunny.

Another nice day with lots of sun and blue sky....... surely it's got to change sometime soon ? Be careful what you wish for Carol. I'm sick of waiting for the chill so I donned a vest (singlet ?) for the first time this Autumn.

dismantled my cap machine last night . there were no obvious signs of overheating but circuit boards get a horrible stink when they are failing. The smell confirmed my fears. I changed the filters and reassembled the unit. I turned it on and within 30 minutes bells and flashing lights were going off. I slept propped up on pillows . Not very good. Ron.

They are calling for cold weather and snow later in the week, so the push is on for me to get ready for it. Ron, you will have to bite the financial bullet and pull the trigger for a new unit. No other way around these kinds of things.

Rain and probable flooding on the way for several Australian states in the coming week with South Australia , NSW and SW Qld starting today.Ron. I will ring the CPAP sales mob today Buff. For some reason Australia has a very poor range of machines available with none of the budget models available. I have been without t for two nights and have slept well on both nights. Ron.

13C cloudy and mild. We had showers overnight, I am glad I brought in at least 3 weeks worth of dry firewood into the house, its expected to be cold and wet in the coming days. Ron, perhaps you may not need the CPAP if your sleeps remain good. It will give you time to find a replacement. Amazon maybe a good place to do a search, I think they ship all over the globe.

I checked Amazon yesterday. They carry no cpap machines , just accessories. None of the cpap sellers have a cpap comparable to mine for under $1500.00 and i am not prepared to spend that much money under the present financial conditions. Heavy rain over sw Qld and western NSW overnight. Extensive flooding expected with heavy rain events expected over the next month. Ron.

I'm sorry you're having more trouble Ron and I sincerely hope it gets sorted for you.Bloody hell, talk about kicking you when you're down.....a wet morning but a bit of blue showing up now.12c..........Do you think Chris got bored of us ?

10C showers. Life has a way of kicking one down when one is already down otherwise I probably wouldn't come here to share with others in similar situations. Its good to be in company with others who carry these burdens, we can lean on each other when we feel troubled. Wonder too where Chris is, perhaps his life is busy and has no time.

I hope Chris is ok and is able to sort things out with his life. It is not always easy. I have been getting reasonably restful sleeps since the cpap died but if i start waking up gasping for air i will have to bite the bullet and get another one. I have not received a call back from cpap direct who I called on monday. I haven't heard from my doctor re progress with a scope. I still haven't seen the new neighbour . They ripped out all the carpets in that unit and put in new carpet and underlay, so maybe she complained. Ron.

Not a bad day, breezy with scudding clouds and warm sunshine....some towns have already put up the xmas tree !!!!
I mean, come on.....I suppose it's meant to cheer folk up or encourage them to spend, more like. This country is on it's knees and the ordinary people are having to choose whether to heat or eat. without the worry of buying presents which are usually not appreciated or needed.

2C snowflurries and showers. Lousy day today, yesterday was like a late summer day, the neighbor came over to help me with firewood, It should be enough for this winter with extra. Its soon time to focus on getting the trail open to the cabin. I have not been there since spring. I could not keep up with all the tree fall from the winds we had, and I am simply slowing down and unable to keep up with it all. I don't like leaving that cabin alone too long, but I have not really had any other choice.

Not a good night last night, struggling to get air. I'm starting to wonder whether I may be looking at some major health issues. I am having trouble talking, walking, lack of strength in arms ,legs hands and shoulders .There are some foods I cannot eat because i have trouble swallowing . I have never been checked for motor neuron disease and I think it is about time I had a talk with my doctor. Rain nearly every day. Ron.

Please don't delay Ron.We're all guilty of hoping things will pass but these new symptoms will cause you to worry, hopefully unnecessarily.......12c here with sunshine and showers

We had our first light coating of snow, the deck and lawn turned white, but it will melt when the sun comes out. I went in and got the truck rust proofed, and bought groceries, as usual the prices are higher on some things than the week before. I have swallowing issues, I cannot eat bananas, I will gag on them when they stick to the inside of my throat, unable to get it down and it can be painful. Other foods are okay, but I have to eat slowly and chew well. -2C cloudy with a passing flurry.

It's starting to feel like genuine fall here and that's the season where I often have a Crohn's flare so, guess what, I am having a flare. I've been on budesonide for a week and it's not helping. Usually I see relief on budesonide with 48 hours so I'm feeling discouraged.

Hope you feel better soon kiltubrid.you've sure been through the wringer eh ? It's a lovely day here with clear blue sky and sunshine and a temp of 14c which feels much warmer. We've been for our covid boosters and flu jabs today. The numbers with the covid is rising daily and of course this time of year is flu time, especially serious for us oldies. How are you today Ron ?

I had a chuckle Carol, good one. 0C Mainly sunny with a cool northwesterly breeze. Its time for me to get the flu jab, but the shots are late this year and hard to find, and soon I'll be due for the next covid maintenance jab too. I hope the flare will pass kiltubrid, remissions can never come soon enough or last long enough either. Chrons is like riding a rollercoaster.

NSW is flooded once more ,dams are all spilling and road closures and evacuations are in force . SW Qld is flooded but so far the heavy rain has not reached us but it is coming. Heavy overcast this morning. Ron.

-4C Clear, the nights are getting colder, and the sun's angle is low in the sky now. I worked on the trail and found the trail flooded once again this time by muskrats. I'm hoping the area has drained enough to get across, to start working further up the trail. Nothing easy, I have to go slow and that is how to do it. There is some nice firewood from the big tree over the trail from an earlier storm I want to reclaim.

Lousy Carol I am really starting to feel the impact of no CPAP. i had to get up early this morning as I could not breathe in bed. I checked my pulse meter and my O2 was in the low 90's. I had a couple of hits of ventolin and my O2 is back up to 97-98. It is raining. More coming later this week and NSW has around 7 or 8 rivers over moderate flood levels. Not good. Ron.

That is a rotten situation to be in Ron, it's similar to what we have here, next to nothing for support for low income patients for things we really need and have to live in silence with the miseries. There are two sides in this world, the have's and the have nots. I am nowhere getting anywhere here with accessing the cabin, the water in the creek is dammed up and the water is running high from the constant rains. That's how remote cabins get reclaimed by the wilderness.

A nice breezy 12 degrees with full sun. We're being spoilt but Scott's still here so at least we're getting out and seeing the coast at its best. Here's a little something that made me smile

The guy who invented throat lozenges has sadly died
There was no coffin at his funeral

4C Sunny, but with the winds of change bringing down the leaves. The good weather we have had is coming to an end as colder more unsettled weather is set to move in. I'll bring in dry wood ahead of the rains. It was a quiet Thanksgiving weekend.

I woke up this morning,,,BONUS, another cloudy day with the prospect of lots more rain . Flooding everywhere in NSW with another rain event on their doorstep. Ron.

Wet and gray 5C. I laid in bed this morning watching the low gray clouds rolling by making me wonder how I'll get through another winter. The trees are bare of leaves for the most part. I have a big load of dry wood inside. I know it will get easier once we get past the wet damp part of fall and into freeze up. Its that wet damp cold that cuts to the bone, making it miserable to be outdoors.

A bit miserable today, not me of course, the weather. It's to be expected now and I'm quite looking forward to dark evenings and lazy days indoors.

Flooding and evacuations in western NSW ,Victoria and Tasmania . The Tasmanian highlands received up to 150mm last night and up to 300mm expected today. 100 +kph winds also expected in northern and western Tasmania and Bass strait. Rain and storms in every state today. The are predicting that the cyclone season will begin as early as November instead of the usual December /January. Sop the world I want to get off. Ron.

Record flooding in Tasmania. Major flood levels in Victoria and western NSW. Our turn in the coming week. No apparent hope for any relief anytime soon Carol. Ron.

Ron,I've just seen the floods on the lunchtime news and saw a guy swimming his horses out of the paddock.Hell's bells, things are getting worse eh ? Buff.I know what you mean regarding loo roll.Thev've just bought a "new" one out with no cardboard inner hahaha supposed to be miles longer.Makes you wonder what next eh? I will get some and let you know the results.
Not a bad start today but getting showery now.....The rain God must know I'm off for a hair cut.

With rivers that are so long the flood situation is literally up and down. the water leaves one town then arrives at the next often with the impact of several side tributaries. The effect of the flooding may be felt for a month or more. Ron.

Light showers , rain at weeks end. Went to the doctors today?????Why do I bother. Did nothing for my apnea or my stuffed cpap. Gave me a referral for a sleep test. I don't know of anyone that gets over apnea. He did not even try to help with my frozen shoulders except to take high doses of prednisone. Then in the next breath he said but then you will not be able to control your diabetes. I asked about my scope . He said maybe by Christmas but he said I was only rated level 5. I said how can anybody who has had stage 3c colon cancer be rated so lowly. Shrug. Fools one and all. Ron.

-5C with 4 cms of snow on the ground. We received a taste of winter with the snow that came overnight. Ron, some doctors are more spin than doctors. Its difficult here to get procedures done along with long waiting times as our healthcare system is still a mess from covid with many staff having quit due to work overload, and its been hard to attract new staff. Welcome Catherine, I hope the rains hold off, that part of the world has been getting more than enough.

Aw. Ron.......I think we're all disappointed with our medical treatment (due to Covid ) but yours takes the biscuit.!!!! You must feel really downhearted.
Can you not get a second opinion and start from scratch so to speak ? It's really bad practice.
Another nice sunny, blustery day.Had a walk along the coast and visited the Marine Aquarium, which we really enjoyed.

I hope your machine arrives really soon Ron.It's a bugger you have to fork out for it yourself but needs must eh ?
Just make sure you eat properly and the rest can go fly....A very warm 12c today so no heating needed. long may it last. Supermarket prices are going up weekly but at least we've no little kids to worry about feeding.Mind I'll see a difference when Scott returns to Aus.in a couple of weeks.Glad I don't have to keep him....no that's not true.I wish I could keep him.
Buff,r u ok ?

-6C blustery. I have not blown away with the wind yet Carol. Everything is costing more, so far I have not run the oil furnace, I cannot when it now costs over $1500 to fill the furnace oil tank when it was once less than $200 to do so less than 20 years ago. Thats the cheap price when I fill the tank myself, it costs more for delivery. I am warm with the wood heat and that is what counts, despite the extra work.

Good news and bad news. the good, my new cpap arrived yesterday and it works fine. The bad , my diesel 4wd self destructed yesterday with me in it. Apparently ,old diesel motors when not used enough get a build up of soot and coke on top of the pistons. I was driving to a doctors appointment yesterday when the motor went to full red line on it's own .I eventually was able to pull up but by that time the cab was full of oily smoke and exhaust fumes. Apparently the soot and coke ignites and you get a runaway motor. I got the bonnet up and pulled the hose off the fuel pump. Turning the ignition off did nothing. The motor died without fuel. I got a lung full of oily smoke and fumes. I called my road assist and a flatbed truck got my car and me home . He told me the car was totaled . I Could hardly talk this morning and i have rung the doctor to ask if I need treatment for smoke inhalation as I don't feel too well. waiting for his call. Ron.

Thanks t-bone. I have been taking it easy and using my ventolin spray to keep my airways open. I am feeling much better than when I got up so i guess i will survive. Cheers Ron.

Has the doc phoned you back Ron ? I hope so,and I'm glad you're feeling a wee bit better but don't tell them that.....get checked out.Overcaste and breezy today but not too bad.
Word has got round to the squirrel population that it's going to be a bad winter so they're collecting as many nuts as they can.
So far three of my relatives have disappeared

Ron, you are not catching any breaks, one thing after another it seems. They say bad things go in three's, hope this was the last one as you have had more than three. I got my latest covid shot. Next one will be the flu shot. No side effects other than a soar arm. The last covid shot back in May made me sick for one day. -4C sunny with a dry cold wind, it reminds me more of a cold April day due to the dry winds and there are still snow patches.

No phone call Carol. I have stopped wheezing. I think I am at the point that i don't really care much anymore. My brother is much the same. He is 78 with ulcerative colitis and Barrets oesophagitis. He is going in for a colonoscopy//endoscopy in a couple of weeks. He said last time he had both is b/p dropped to 60/40 and they nearly lost him so he said don't be surprised if you get a phone call his time. The rains are here, Gladstone just north of here got 100mm in an hour with storm last night and Emerald to the west got 150mm overnight. The storm front stretches nearly 1000km with severe cells everywhere. I may be bailing from some time tomorrow. Ron.

Got to say Ron you're a tough old bugger. You're definately driven ,much like Buff.
Very wet and miserable here today.I have a colonoscopy on the 14th of Nov,but also have a consultation apt next week after they found a problem with the Bowel Cancer Test I sent in last week. It's a separate test offered by my GP.I rang them to say I was booked for an 'oscopy but they said to come in anyway......not to bothered,no point in worrying yet.

They call them the golden years.....not given the troubles most of us face. I have an appointment with the gastro doc next week, the first in person visit since covid. I am hoping to get a scope done to see why I have nearly constant pain in the lower right quadrant near my terminal ileum. As much as I like winter, this year I am a bit apprehensive about the coming season. -3C sunny.

I hope your new machine is doing the job for you Ron and you're getting a good nights rest.Weather still being kind to us here, hope it lasts until Scott goes home to 33c next Fri. although a few chilly days would remind him what he's missing hahaha. It's 12c and he's not complaining yet mind.....I'm not going to mention our PM trouble but hey, only two more Prime Ministers until Xmas.

My blood pressure has been all over the place again. I was really low again whenever I would stand up, particularly in the afternoons. I had a hard time going on a short walk. I am going off the thinners to see how it reacts. I make sure I carry my mobile phone with me incase I need to make an SOS, hope it is only the battery Ron. Carol it seems there is no leadership anywhere right now, which gives that Putin an unfair advantage. Its strange times the globe is in.

Cleared out my phone last and reset all of the critical settings. It is working correctly again. Have no idea why it changed everything , almost makes me believe in the Paranormal. It has been raining heavily and we may develop a serious east coast low tomorrow with the potential of 400mm over two days. Serious flooding in NSW,Victoria and Tasmania. Ron. PS Cpap is working fine thanks Carol. I am feeling very stressed and unwell. Ron

Do you know what's making you feel unwell Ron ? I can understand you feeling stressed but that's no good for your heart.I don't know what to suggest as it seems your medical team don't seem to give a hoot. I long for the old days pre covid, when I could request to see a certain GP,whom I could talk to properly.Things are getting worse by the day.no wonder you're stressed.I try to tell myself that there are people much worse off than I am,and there are,but if you have no support or a mate to moan with,it's got to be a struggle. We're always here for you mate.
It's a lovely sunny 16c after a wet night. I can't believe it and it's saving on the heating bill.

There is a lot of hidden stress when one lives alone when there is nobody to share one's issues with, no love, nor is there any help with anything, but everything falls on my shoulders. Life can become a cumbersome mountain to climb and a lot of dark clouds. I don't know what it was that I ate but I have had the runs during the night, and its still going this morning. Cold water sure feels good on my lips, I lost a fair bit of fluid and am dehydrated.
Its gray today, but mild 7C.

Carol I had a heart to heart with my doc last visit. He said he was happy to listen to my problems and sympathize but he said I had too many problems that had no solution given my state of health. He said i cant reverse the ravages of cancer, surgery or chemotherapy. He can't undo the damage done to my liver and gallbladder and the gallbladder removal surgery. He can't undo the damage done by unknown auto immune disease to my kidneys and joints. Because I react badly to many drugs he is limited in what he can prescribe. He can offer no help for vertigo that does not have side effects and unfortunately, ethically , he is not permitted to put me down. It is pouring rain and I am very close to flooding and the low is sitting just off the Sunshine coast. I have very little choice but to battle on with poor health and a poor lifestyle. Ron.

Well that little chat went well eh? I don't know what to say that will make things better Ron,only that I care....Like my little sign says,,,,GET UP<SURVIVE<GO BACK TO BED....12c here and raining.

My feeling, is that the doctor can only do so much, the rest is up to my body and me. This body is a crumby vehicle to get through life, but its all I have, so I have no other choice but to go with it despite that it could go at any moment and often I am not comfortable or happy. I just try to make the best of it.
The flight instructor said to his student; despite whatever happens focus on what is still functional, if its still flying, don't complain just fly the airplane.
12C sunny.

Buff I hope my body is a little better than my vehicle. Floods are dreadful in 3 states. Moore just about got flushed off the western plains yesterday and the east coast low is dropping plenty of rain as it heads south. Ron.
