Another nice day.Sunny morning but cloudy now and a warm 16c.Looks to be the same for the rest of the week too.
As the saying goes guys, feeling rough and miserable is better than the alternative because tomorrow might be a better day

I had a rude awakening this morning when I rolled over to enjoy the last hour of sleep only to find out I had sprung a leak. Quick action saved me from soiling the bed. The joys of living with a colostomy bag. I could have used the sleep, its a dark gray wet morning, I'll have a snooze later to make up the difference. Ron; In my case I wish I was my vehicle, I could change out the bad parts and keep going, its an old truck it runs and does not leak, unlike my self who moves slowly with leaks and cannot start in the mornings. Today is one of those kind of days, at least I don't have to go anywhere other than to the outhouse.

Major flooding impacting NSW and Victoria. Flash flooding in Qld. All of the dams are full or overflowing and there is no scope to hold back further floodwater and there are more systems coming thru. Things are looking pretty grim. Ron.

ANOTHER nice day at 15c and sunny.Had a walk down to the village and coast and back with Scott and Les.
Don't know where the heck all the people come from it was never like that in the old days.People were at work.
Sorry about your bad start to the day Buff, but I did smile.I've got a weird sense of humour.
Ron mate,it's not getting any better eh ?

The rain ended, now its chilled out and cloudy 5C. One has to have a sense of humor to maintain sanity when living with a poop bag as its one heck of a thing to live with or share with others. Reminds me of the time I had a captive audience on the plane when the bag exploded, and if that were not enough add in heavy turbulence to shake things up further. Its a sense of pride to know that out of it all I did make someone smile half way around the globe yesterday :)

The east coast lows finally reached Tasmania overnight dumping 92mm on one town in the NE. We are still having showers and storms nearly every day. The wheelie walkers around town are starting to look like something out of the old west with every walker sporting a rifle scabbard holding a brollie. Ron.

17c today....I can't believe it .I'm thinking about getting the summer gear back out of storage.
Shop shelves are full of halloween rubbish vying for space with xmas goodies.Couldn't find some stuff I wanted but they'll appear in January with the chocolate easter eggs no doubt.

-2C with a dusting of snow. I know the feeling Carol, in mid winter I am looking around in the store for winter related items, but cannot find any amongst the summer patio furniture, garden equipment and camping gear.

We have had a couple of 32c days this week with high humidity. Plenty of super cell storms coming thru. flooding has not improved along the Murray river or in western NSW. Ron.

17c again.....this is getting boring. Been for the bowel cancer consultation and as I thought,a waste of everybodies time.
She said if they scoped me and something showed up, I would be refered to the same gastro team I'm with now.So we'll see what
turns up on 14th next month.

I got a call from the hospital on Tuesday ,they are posting the papers for my scope. Plenty of super cell sweeping thru Qld and another rain band heading for the southern states and Tasmania . I've been working on getting all of my gear out of the ute and organizing the boat to get rid of them. The taxi solution is just not working, I spent around two hours + yesterday just waiting for cabs. there is no bus system in town . It is just not practical try to get to an appointment on time . I may have to consider some sort of mobility scooter. Ron.

6C sunny mild. I went in and did a fuel run yesterday, and I was in for a shock when I bought 80 liters of furnace oil for 134 dollars, thats only 3 jerry cans worth. Gasoline was better but still very high. I can see why so many people are using the food bank when the basic essentials are out of reach with these prices. Fortunately I have plentiful firewood, but that is not the case for a lot of people.

Mild and sunny again.I got two loads of washing dried so that's a bonus.Forcast predicting a drop in temps next week which will be a shock to the system after the mild October, they say........My baby Scott has abandoned his aged parents again.I'm trying very hard not to cave in to my emotions.

7C Sunny. I just came in from hanging the wash out on the line this morning. Might as well use this good weather wisely, its going to break at some point. This is likely the calm before the winter storms. I was in serious pain this morning, but then my bowels finally moved, feeling much better but feel played out. It may have been from that crappy pizza, I'll never buy another one of those that had a consistency of a ceiling tile topped with dog kibble, lacking cheese.

12c and a bit damp today. Scott arrive home last night to cold.wet and windy weather but he knows summer is near after last weeks 33c (aus). Our clocks went back last night so darker evenings are here .yipee. Buff make sure you eat before you shop.I've wasted money and food because I was hungry.

10C Sunny. Nice fall weather, I took it easy yesterday, moved one load of wood, and a visit with the neighbor. Your house must seem quiet without Scott, Carol, I'm looking forward to when the clocks go back, it will happen next weekend. A longer evening with the earlier sunset, and the brighter morning is all good.

The black cat is still on my trail. I killed myself cleaning out the ute Saturday , then we loaded up the kayak onto my boat and trailer and I said goodbye to both of them. Nearly broke my heart. Sunday morning at 2am I heard a loud crash out side. I went out but could not find anything. At 5.00am I was rudely awakened when energex cut my power off. Power failures are fun when you use cpap. I went out to see what was going on and the power cable had pulled off the front of the house and was nearly down do ground level on the road. Energex disconnected the wires and said they would not reconnect till the owner replaced rotted woodwork under the gutter . It was sunday and no one would come. We received a new generator from the owners but it burned out in 25 minutes . Cheap hos''t. Today a 40 kva generator turned up and it is happily running everything .A guy is supposed to be coming tomorrow to repair the front of the house ,he is bring a cherry picker. A wrecker is picking up my ute tomorrow. My life is changing too fast.Ron.

Oh for heavens sake Ron !!! Just how much more crap do you have to deal with ?

I'm really sorry .But this time next year it'll all seem like a bad dream. (maybe)

Yes Buff. it is quiet without Scott but we do have more room . He was a 5lb baby and now towers above me and his dad, which isn't that hard really, but boy does he need some feeding

2C Sunny. Oh Ron, I feel for you, I wish there was some way to pass a glass of scotch over the wires to you. Downsizing is one of life's most difficult times to go through. At this stage of life we are all downsizing in one way or another until we leave this life. Yesterday would have been a busy time out camping at this time of year, but now I find myself not far from the house doing things around the yard.

We got thru the night, the generator barely used a quarter of a tank of fuel since midday yesterday. It is pouring rain this morning , i doubt if they will be able to work on the roof. As if I needed any more problems , I had a fall this morning . I was sitting on my wheelie walker and it shot out from under me. I landed flat on my arse. It has jarred my spine and my frozen shoulders. I can still walk which is a bonus I suppose. Ron.

3C Sunny. I made it out to the cabin to find trees down, but the cabin is relatively unscathed except for the bear that tore off some siding and decided the insulation didn't taste good. Carol you are spot on about not wanting to be young, I would not want to be in all the uncertainties they have to face and the challenges of keeping a roof over one's head and a meal on the table with the way things are going. My Gi doc caught covid, now my appointment has been moved forward and done on the phone. I am fine with a phone call, the parking rates are awful at the hospital.

Only minor problems this time carol. The guy came and picked up my ute. The towing cost me nothing but there again he only paid $200.00 for the ute, at least it is out of the way. My blood pressure machine died yesterday so I had to buy a new one. Monday was the only day this week that the taxis i booked actually turned up. I finished up walking to and from the shops on two days. The suburb I live in is called panorama because it is way up on a hill. The hill will be the death of me. Ron.

I hope it's downhill on the way home Ron and not uphill with the shopping.I also hope you make use of your walker and sit when you need to. It's a lovely day here again. The storm that was forecast passed us by but they had floods in the south .Probably puddles compared to what you're used to.

10C very mild and sunny. This will be the last day of the nice weather before reality sets in. Talked to my Gi doctor this morning, I'll be scoped out on both ends and bloodwork. Its been over two years since my last scope, my only hesitation are the staff shortages and outbreaks going on in the overloaded hospital. Ron its time for you to get a scooter. More convenient and a lot cheaper than taxis.

Unfortunately Carol its all downhill going to the shops and all uphill going home. Buff , my brother is having an endoscopy//colonoscopy in a couple of weeks. He has already warned me that the last time he went thru it his BP dropped to 60/40 and they nearly lost him. The guy came to look at the house regarding repairs he told the owner that the whole roof and guttering needs replacement. He also told her the main power board is illegal and needs to be replaced. ceramic fuses are no longer legal and need to be circuit breakers. He said the repair bill will be in the tens of thousands. Looks like i may be homeless soon. Ron.

2C much cooler and gray. I woke up to reality, its cooled down and snow is in the forecast. I tarpped the main woodpile to keep it dry and basically I am ready for the winter. Ron, this might be the opportunity to look for a new place to live that is going to be closer to your doctor and shops. I am a bit leary of being scoped down my throat as it will be my first time, but the doctor said its a good idea to find the issue of my swallowing problem earlier than later.

At the moment Buff ,housing in Australia is almost third world. There are virtually tens of thousands of people waiting for housing. People on the coast are sleeping in cars and swags every night. The average rent has risen to over $400.00 a week and rental availability is currently less than 1%. With the rising inflation things are only going to get worse. We have heard nothing from our property owner. The flood situation is not improving with Forbes in central NSW facing its worst floods in over 70 years . Ron.

-5C Cloudy, I had to take a detour through the downtown area and thought I was going to get assaulted at an intersection when a scruffy man ran up to me was hopping mad on some kind of drugs yelling obscenities, I thought he was going to try to smash the window. Finally I made my turn and got out of there. I was glad to drop off my recyclables at the depot, get groceries and go home. Ron, things are better here but not by much, the waiting times for a senior's apartment are between 5-7 years and sometimes longer.

That's a really bad situation you're in Ron.I don't know what to say except I hope the owner fixes things and about bloody time to. They've had your rent so some of it should have been saved for your repairs......
It's cold wet and miserable here and it's Guy Fawkes, so tonight thousands of pounds worth of fireworks will be terrifying animals and ,overworking the fire and hospital depts........

Who knows what will happen. What I am hearing from everywhere is mainly doom and gloom with very few bright spots. I guess we have been warned for many years that all of this was coming. I guess we now have to accept that it has arrived and we need to find a way to live with it. Ron.

-1C with 3 cms of snow. I made it clear to family I do not want to be cremated because I have already been burned by others numerous times throughout life. Lay me to rest in the peaceful plot I bought long ago to push up daisies and be part of the greater cycle of life. Cremation is wasteful, when all that gas could be used to heat homes for those who cannot afford it.

Another day of topping up the tank on the generator. I am looking at a small car to get me around. It is cheap and nasty and second hand but it only uses 5.4 liters per 100 kilometers and has a roadworthy certificate and 6 mos rego. Ron.

Ron,I might have mentioned this before,,,we sold our Volvo in Sept.2021 because we didn't use it much.We are within walking of every where we want to go and we have free over 65s bus passes. We lasted 10 months before giving in and getting another one. What a relief !!!! We aged a lot in those months and got slower by the day. Go for it mate !!!

-1 Windy with a passing flurry. Sounds like a good catch Ron, take good care of it and it will take good care of you. My truck is close to 30 years old, but with regular maintenance it runs like new, looks great and asks little from me.

Wow, at last things are looking up for you my friend.Enjoy your new wheels especially going up hill.
Nice day here.Milder than the last few days, breezy, dry and sunny.Off for a hair cut, I can't be doing with the faff of keeping it tidy.

-2C gray. Glad things are going your way for a change Ron. Yesterday I got down and dirty; First I cleaned the chimney, my face was covered in soot. I debated on calling it quits and was going to head for the shower when I realized I still had some strength. With the sun still shining I went down to the truck and changed the oil and filter. Its good to have those two dirty jobs out of the way.

3C gray and wet. I am glad I went ahead and changed the oil when I did, the weather has been cold damp and paltry since then. There is snow in the forecast, this next weather event maybe the switch to winter from autumn.

16c and blustery.Temp far above normal for this time of year and we still have flowering plants in the garden and some new buds !!!
There are still some leaves on the trees but I expect they'll be gone in a week or two. Glad to have a feeling of contentment re: your new motor Ron.Life is so much easier with wheels, and I don't mean bikes or walkers.

-2C Ice pellets mixing with snow. Definitely a storm is brewing, everthing has a coating of ice from freezing rain last night, and the best of the storm is yet to come through. This will be our transitional storm from fall to winter, and as usual its right on schedual. Glad you are mobile once again Ron, its difficult to do without a vehicle when one has been driving all one's life.

I have just about worn my walker out in two years particularly with some of the long cross country trips I did with it. If I could roll down the middle of the road it would be no worries but the footpaths are hell. The builders came early but did not stay long, Ron.

17c and really windy.....the bedding was wrapped around the washing line, but at least it's dry.It was very warm in bed last night too and no condensation on the inside of the windows.

-5C The storm was more bark than bite. We got about 3 cms of frozen ice pellets making everything white. I mucked out the outhouse yesterday, and that job is not for the meek, but it had to be done before the ground freezes up.

Our mains power has still not been reconnected and we are still waiting on energex to do that job. The builder has installed the new facia board and power connection box and anchor bolt. He has wired the new meter box and he is not sure why energex has not finalized the connection. We have been on the generator for two weeks and that does not give us hot water. I am hanging out for a shower. Ron.

-8C flurries. We received 25 cms of snow overnight. The fresh snow has made the house warmer. We expected some but not this much. I cancelled my flu shot appointment as I will stay home off the roads until they are plowed. Two weeks without a shower is a long wait Ron, at least the work is progressing. Carol, the prep is the worst part, and the long run of loo roll, but worth it in the end. Lots of shoveling later today.

The strain of the last two weeks is starting to catch up with me . Between the constant diesel fumes and the ever present noise , I am really feeling unwell. Everyone tells me how lucky I am to have survived cancer for so long. I don't feel lucky. Ron.

-8C flurries. Winter has always been my favorite season, but in recent years that has been changing. Yesterday I felt morbid and a little bit scared of the upcoming winter. All this snow is becoming more intimdating, making me feel vulnerable. I did not want to go outside, but I had to clear the snow from my truck, bring in wood. The sun was shining with flurries in the air, I got the urge to start the snowmobile. Next thing I was going for a ride, the roads were not plowed and it felt good. I noticed that I am shrinking as the seat that felt small now fits my body well. I don't have much choice given my income is so small, but I will have to tough it out living here for as long as I can.

The problem and it is the biggest one we face, is that regardless of how unwell we feel, life still goes on. I hope Carol is going ok with her scope. We still have no power and the electrician is getting very frustrated with energex power.

-8C Sunny. Life goes on and we just have to carry on until the curtain comes down. The worst should be over for Carol with the prep, Its the prep that I dislike and fear, as well as wondering what the doctor will say afterwards. Its been steady winter weather, and the cold weather is widespread with little signs of letting up. It should allow the lakes to freeze up well. Flu shots are now available and I have an appointment booked. Hope your power will be hooked up soon and things get back to normal.

10c and constant rain.....horrible last 2 days in fact it was a f...... bloody nightmare.Found some inflamation and took biopsies.
Not too worried, no point really. Buff, at least you got the wood stacked up and you know you'll have a few good days out on the snow / ice. Ron,at least somethings getting done and you don't have to look for another pad,but it still might be a good idea, given the bailing out you have to tolerate, or will that be put right ? One of the things I miss when I was young is energy. The brains willing but the body's not.

-9C with a flurry. I got my flu shot. People drive recklessly, always in a hurry to get nowhere fast. Its pretty standard to have snow packed roads at this time of year, but when I drove in I saw two pickup trucks in the ditch. There was one that went off the road down into the ditch before landing way up on its side on the embankment. It used to be that I may count one or two in the ditch over an entire winter season, now its getting to the point of seeing them ditched every time I drive in to the city. Carol you are spot on about the brain being willing but the body is not.

Carol i am glad your scope is done and dusted, hope all the biopsies come back clear. Buff I hope the flu shot gives you the necessary protection. My power is back though i had some problems with circuit breakers the first night. One destroyed my led bathroom light ,i think the polarity was accidentally reversed. It had been working fine for six months but after everything was rewired outside i went off like a flash grenade. The other problem i think was a faulty power board. i turned everything off ,rest the breaker and then added appliances one at a time. Everything was fine but I suspected that the last item was at fault. So I put a new board in as the power supply to all of my computer stuff . Everything is ok.
The floods down in NSW and Vic are a disaster., with flooding never before seen and towns virtually washed away along the murray and lachlan rivers and the water still has to reach South Australia. There are people missing in some of the worst flooded areas, searches are currently underway. Ron.

-8C Mainly cloudy. Glad your power is back Ron, now you can take that hot shower you were waiting for, as for the damage, the contractor should be on the hook for the cost of replacement. I am dealing with constipation again, laxatives make me tired, I think I'll just hibernate today. Last night I watched the new moon rocket launch, it was a wonderful sight. I'll be looking forward to the next one, when people ride back to the moon.

A sunny start to the day so went into town for some odds and sods and scripts ( the social high spot of the month)
Lots of xmas decs up but didn't see a smile any where, and who can blame them ? Inflation is up over 11% the highest in over 40yrs. It's raining again now and dark. Most of the leaves are down now sticking to the wet streets.Glad the leccy's on Ron,we don't want to lose you too.

-8C 2 cms of snow fell overnight. Its winter here and the heating season has been going on for awhile here now. The lakes are freezing up which will bolster the cold weather further. I am soon going to have to switch over to my winter parking spot which is further from the house and I am not looking forward to longer walk, this place is isolated as it is.

It has been in the Mid thirties last week and most of next week. We even had a couple of bushfires in the SE of the state.. It is hot and humid today and they are predicting 35c and severe storms for Sunday. ron.

9c and damp....had a drive along our bit of coast and waves are crashing up the cliffs and over the piers at the mouth of the river.,,,nice to look at from a warm car. Some of the UK fishing fleet took refuge at the quay and even at the marina yesterday, and are still waiting to get out. That's a job not for the sissies and no mistake.Ron,have you been far in the new wheels ?

-10C with a couple more cms of snow overnight. The snow is building up to the point where I will soon be able to go for a ski. The neighbors kids have been out on the snowmobiles, and with the gas prices war going on they will be out more. I may go and fill up a few jerry cans, yet prices may go down further. But not diesel or heating oil, those prices just won't budge.

Basically i only travel to where I need to go Carol ,IE the shops ,the chemist and the doctors. All the problems of recent weeks have left me more than a little depressed and at times feeling very unwell.I am going to have a talk with some people about getting some home help. Ron.

That's a good idea Ron and that tells me you need some sort of support because you're not the sort of guy that wants to rely on others.Buff neither. But it's only what you're entitled to after all.Especially in the environment you both live in. I'm lucky to have Les.He's not much use now,but he's there and he's the driver. We live in an area where every thing is easily accessible and our home is comfortable and small enough to manage. So do yourself a favour and try to get somebody in.Would a letter from your family doctor be a good place to start ? Damp and miserable here and 7c.

-15C cold wind. I don't go any farther than I have to for the same reasons Ron. Yesterday was one of those days. I had an appointment earlier than I would have liked and I basically felt like crap afterwards, weak lightheaded and the cold air felt like ice. I walked right into a glass wall by the door of the supermarket and hit hard thinking it was the doorway, I maintained composure, grabbed a cart and did my shopping. The day was long as I did an unexpected fuel run due to the fuel price war going on. By the end of it I was glad to get into the house, lit the fire and made the house hot, I had enough of the cold.

Carol I submitted a My aged care online assessment yesterday. They will get back to me in 6-8 weeks re a face to face assessment. I really do know what you mean Buff. Everyday i wonder if I am not overstepping my physical abilities. I am struggling every day. Ron.

Another wet night (weather, not me) and morning. We went for a walk when the rain eased off and the sun came out and it was really warm. Our walking pace is two steps forward and one step back but "use it or lose it" as we say.I look with envy at youngsters striding out or jogging and remember when that was me.Les used to walk 10mls + a day behind his lawn mower and I walked at least 6 with the dogs plus shopping etc. (I'm not a driver) But time flies like the wind (and fruit flies like a banana) and todays youngsters will be over the hill all to soon.I wou;dn't want to be in their shoes to be honest.not the way things are going.

-18C calm conditions. Its actually nice outside despite the cold, as its a dry cold. With the snowmobile I moved the jerry cans to the shed, I have enough fuel to run the truck and snowmobiles for a good while now. I don't know what is driving the price war but gasoline is almost half the price of diesel, but I don't think it will last long.

I helped the builder clean out the garage. I pointed and he chucked it. I can fit a truck in there now. The storm that was forecast last night did not make it over the range. Very hot (34c) and humid today. ron.

-7C blustery, with a flurry. I slept without pain for a change and caught up on needed sleep after many fragmented nights. Good on you Ron for getting your garage back. I need to do the same thing with the basement and spare room. When one lives in one place for decades one accumulates a lot of stuff.

Once I got rid of the ute , the boat and the kayak a lot of my stuff became redundant . I had few qualms about getting rid of it. With the new power box and circuit breakers i have found more than a few 'iffy' appliances. My power shut down a couple of times overnight and this morning I chucked out a small freezer. Seems to have solved the problem . Ron.

9c and a calm day.We walked into town and back to drop repeat prescriptions into the docs. Just to fill some time in.We make it a rule to go out somewhere each day even if it's boring.Les can't stay still until at least 2pm so it's best to get out. Like you guys he finds it easy to accumulate "stuff" and very hard to part with "stuff" that he "might" need but can never find.Whereas I Know where everything is,even some of his "stuff".But you can bet your life he'll know if I dump it. Even if it's 6mnths later.

-7C Cloudy. Stuff is good, its the clutter that we can do without. I've repurposed 'stuff' for many different purposes, its a form of recycling, saving both money and a trip to the store. Clutter on the other hand is a problem in my kitchen, once it starts getting into my way I end up tossing it all out. Like containers and those ketchup and mustard thingy's we get with restaurant take out. I never use them much and then get stale.

One of my failings is retaining non stick cookware that is no longer nonstick . I never use the old ones ,they just take up cupboard space. Woerk continues on our units .Some supplies are in very short supply. At least I am not paying for it. Ron.

That's got to be good news Ron,because you'll be just as stressed waiting. Just go with the flow and don't pretend you can manage OK.........If you get an offer of help accept it and if it doesn't suit you then you can cancel. but don't be hasty.......
7c cold and damp here again.

-2C cloudy. Odd, the new posts didn't show up for the last couple of days until today, I thought nobody was here. I know the feeling Ron, I dislike doctor visits of anykind and would rather wait. But waiting really doesn't help, often it makes things worse. I put the new windshield on the old snowmobile, I'll be needing it to pull the groceries up to the house from the winter parking spot once the snow levels force me to park down there.

Having a crap night. I had another fall this evening. I was sitting down to have some dinner and the chair collapsed and somehow i got trapped between the wrecked chair the wall and the floor. I Hurt a lot of things trying to get up and since it happened I have severe nerve pain in all my finger tips and right upper shin. It is three in the morning and I have no chance of getting to sleep. I feel like tearing my finger tips off to stop the pain. I am seeing my doctor this afternoon but I know he won't do anything. Ron.

Hells bells Ron !!!! I hope you're feeling better but I doubt it.I would have suggested putting your hands in warm water but it's a bit late in the day. Did you get to see the doc ? I think it's good that your assessment is sooner than you'd like.If you're up to it I would write down all your recent mis-haps in case you forget. You don't want them the leave and THEN remember what 's important. Buff (and Ron) i've jusr read your posts to Les and he said "bloody hell,I think I've got stuff to moan about but you guys are way ahead of him"....Not a bad day here 10c but feels colder. Dry and no wind.

That's rough Ron, hopefully your doctor will give you something for pain. Yesterday was cold and damp I didn't do anything outside. Today the sun is out, and the air is dry with temps just below freezing. I need to get outside and move, get some fresh air.

I'm a bit better today. My doc wrote a comprehensive letter about all of my problems . He thinks that the fall and the stress of it has caused a flare in my auto-immune neuropathy. He could find no other physical evidence for the pain. At least i got some sleep last night. Ron.

0C Cloudy. Glad you have a doctor who is checking things out. I'm all plugged up again waiting for the pill to do its thing. It makes me very tired, I'll take a snooze before noon and then try to get something done in the afternoon.

Foggy now.Ferry across the Tyne cancelled but I've got PJs on so not planning to go out anytime in the next 14- 16 hrs.Not that I go over the water much. its enough to be able to see the south from the river bank.

The interview went well. They will be sending one of their staff out to do a safety review on my unit to see what upgrades need to be done to make it safer for me. Ron.
