What is YOUR weather like today??

-7C cloudy, Carol we outlive our pets and that is a big issue. Its very difficult when a pet passes, and their short lives are a big price to pay. I had both dogs and cats, and 20 years ago or longer I decided not to get another dog, they require too much attention, whereas a cat is independent and can take care of itself. Ron, the best cats are the ones that are good natured and have no mean streaks. They take the loneliness out of life.

We had a cyclone form off the north Queensland coast but it is heading for New Zealand. Lots of heavy rain in the north of the state and some heat heading for the south east. I loave having a pet but in my state of health I would never get another one, i was so angry when the 82 year old upstairs got a new puppy. It just is not fair on the animal. Ron.

I agree with that Ron,maybe she thinks she's going to live forever....Even if she has family willing to take over when needed,a dog needs walks and stimulation, which is impossible when you are aged and infirm.Scott has two dogs, two cats and two horses, but him being in Aus. it would be impossible for him to take over from us........6c and raining again..

-1C Gray. Too often people will get a pet that is not appropriate for them and the animal suffers. The lady should probably have gotten a cat, cats are adaptable to their environment, but dogs cannot. With the generous help of the two neighbors we got a trail going out to the cabin. Nobody has been on the trails leading into the lake from the north. There is a lot of heavy snowcover which is too deep for most snowmobiles.

The same ex cyclone that did 3 circles of the Kimberly is now in western Qld still dropping heaps of rain. Alice springs got over 100 mm of as the low passed over it getting here. Heatwaves in many arts of Australia, Scott will be feeling the heat at the moment. Ron.

He sent me a pic of the young dog yesterday, cooling off in a tub of water on the lawn, If I'd been there she'd have had to bunk up to let her nana in......10c sun's out now but we got caught in a shower while out for our walk. There are some floods in the south and Wales. They say we'll have cold temps, wind, frost and some snow at sea level next week,,,that means us.The sooner it gets here the sooner it goes,hopefully......I hope you're wearing your alarm thingy every day Ron.....Buff,have you seen many animal tracks in the snow or has the deforestation sent them away ?....I watched a fox trot up the middle of the street at 2am this morning.I know they're around but we rarely see them.We can smell them sometimes though

-7C with a flurry. I went in to pick up my order of medical supplies, with temperatures at the freezing mark made the roads miserable where they have used road salt, and all that salt leads to deep potholes. It was a long day with many stops. Carol, there is very little in the way of animal tracks this year. There is one lynx that hangs around the neighborhood, but I didn't see much along the trail or on the lakes. I suspect much of the wildlife has moved off to the north and east looking for what is left of the old growth forests.

Yes Carol ,every moment I am upright it is on. It is funny I wondered how efficient the fall function is. I accidentally dropped the alarm on the carpet yesterday and it started to send out a call. fortunately there is a built in time delay and i was able to cancel the call. But I am now confident that it works. Lots of rain in the top half of Queensland from the NT border to the east coast and down to Rockhampton. It is starting to cause floods in several river catchments. We are starting to see shortages of some fruits like rock and water melons. Food n general is getting dear. Ron.

8c cloudless blue sky but the wind chill making it feel colder.Had a little walk but happy to come home.Les feels the cold badly since his cancer treatment....that's his excuse anyway

Becoming wetter as the system in the north of the gradually spreads south. Temps are not excessive but the humidity is very high. Lots of flood damage in the kimberly , you would most likely die if you drove into some of the wash outs , they are 20ft deep, Ron.

6c and bright and sunny again.they're still saying snow on the way, maybe tomorrow...haven't been out as Les been for MRI re; prostate and I was happy to have some time to myself. We're together 24/7 and we are both guilty of going out because we feel the other want's to go. when really we should just say "no,I'm not that bothered "

cloudy with a good chance of rain. I see my doctor tomorrow. Mainly for a diabetes blood test but i will be letting him know how unhappy I am about no scope.Ron.

I was going to ask how it went Ron,hope you get sorted soon.....minus 1c and although we awoke to frost and had a short snow shower, the sun soon appeared in a clear blue sky to melt it.It's a bit slippy underfoot but we managed to stay upright on a trip out for prescriptions.....the height of our social life !!!

Still overcast and raining. Several areas in the top of the state have surpassed 700mm for the last three days. I think that area of north Qld is the source of the old saying that it never rains, it pours. Ron.

-3C with 5 cms of fresh snow, I'm still here Carol. Yesterday I went in for what I thought was an ultrasound to be done on my wrist, then told it would be a pelvic scan on the MRI. I was waffling on the idea of cancelling the appointment because it was early. Glad I did not. GI never informed me of the date or prep for this, the phone call came with short notice. Glad I never ate any breakfast, as it was one of those procedures where one has to be on an empty stomach. I am very glad to have had that one done, and now like Ron I am waiting for the scope.

Buff I hate it when the medical system expects you to be a mind reader. good luck with further tests. I was a bit worried that they may have left you on the ski track. Carol hope you are not one of the bits of white stuff in a shaded area. Warm and humid here. The rain has finally eased in the north. The heaviest total for the four days was at Fint hafen which received 1039 mm

The weather here is still the same as it has been for a week......cold but sunny.but the sun is low in the sky at this time of year and it's annoying....but I'm not complaning...really. Glad to see Buff.

-10C. The weather has been too mild of late, and this morning the leak returned from the shoddy roofing job. I have to pay for the roof to be shovelled off. Roofer calls it an ice dam, which they refuse to cover in their warranty. I fought this losing battle for years, I call it fraud. Its like getting a brake job done, and then crash when the brakes fail in the rain. Then the mechanic won't take responsibility for it by saying the brakes are not warrented to work in the rain. Roofers make my blood boil; it leaks, that is why I hired you, take responsibility for it. Its not fun when the water drips into the bucket one meter from the bed.

The roofing company came and shovelled off the roof which stopped the leak for now, and the bill is in the mail. Great way to make money on their part. Its hard these days to get anyone to do an honest job anymore. -10C cloudy.

-21C Sunny with cobalt blue skies. Finally a nice day coming up full of sunshine with dry cold. Yesterday I went with the neighbors for a long snowmobile ride. It felt good going for a decent ride, but my body sure takes a beating from it all.

25yrs Ron , surely that's some sort of record ??? You were a young (ish) man then so maybe you were strong enough to get on with life ? 2c here and a bit overcast but the overnight frost has melted.

I always new I'd grow old....how quickly it happened was a bit of a surprise though.

I never thought I would live this long given my prognosis, but I'm here despite it all. I'm surprised how long or rather short life is, it didn't take long to reach the finishing line, but I never knew how difficult the obstacle course of life is... or was.

I'm at the point where I don't believe that things will happen until they do. There are just too many variables in life to make concrete statements. I for one are happy to go with the flow but that does not mean I don't carry a big paddle. Ron.

-10C light snow. I learned from my father to never make plans, but rather go with the flow. Life is like a river, one will never know what is around the next bend. When my father was alive he made plans for almost everything, and they nearly always failed to turn out the way he wanted to, making his life harder than it would have been.

Crickey I started something there didn't I ? Maybe I should stick to the weather hahaha. It's noticeably warmer today at 7c.

But there are still snow warnings so maybe I'll keep the old sweaters on for a bit longer

having a bad day. Since my gall bladder was removed I have suffered from Bile salt diarrhea, I have always been able to control it with Questran lite. it binds bile and other liver salts. There were three meds that worked , cholestramine, colesevelam and colestipol . None of them are available any longer. It looks like I have no option but to go through life crapping my pants daily . Bam as it is known results in instant and violent watery diarrhea. Life becomes less worth living every day. I have seven sachets of questran left.Ron.

Ron I get loperamide on prescription and it can also be bought over the counter here.I can't leave the house most days until nearly lunch time.I would ask about it.There has to be an alternative for you. There are a lot of people on the forum with
bile salt problems so I would go on" search" and have a look around.I had my GB out about 6-7yrs ago and although I haven't been tested it has been mentioned it could be part of my problem...........9c here today and sunny

-12C Cloudy with a flurry. I'm the other way, constipation. Its been better lately, but it still poses issues at times. I still have my gallbladder, its been better in the past year since I passed the difficult stones.

Yes Carol it was on the forum years ago that I found out about questran lite ,it was the savour for many people. Dianne was using it when she had bam attacks. It will cause a lot of stress to people in australia to lose these medications. When I take questran it works straight away and I don't get constipation as a result. It sorts me out for three days. At the moment if i go and have a meal at a cafe i then have to run straight to the loo and usually twice more before I get home.Ron.

I know I'm preaching to the converted but us crohnies don't have it easy eh ? There's never two days the same and we never know what's next.To be honest I'd rather be bored.......10c today and bright and sparlkey. We're having some stunning sun rises lately. If I look eastward out of the kitchen window at 6-30am there's nearly always a red/orange glow over the sea.Worth getting up for

-12C Snow, and from the looks of things there could be a lot of snow before its over, and then temps are expected to drop. We sometimes get a light show going on before sunrise and I'll get a glimpse of it, but I have no problem crawling back under the covers for another couple of hours.

How are you feeling Ron ? I was just thinking if it was any use mentioning your lack of meds to your care team ? Buff,6-30am is early for me, especially at this time of year. But for some reason I'm having to run to the bathroom from 6am and it's easier to stay up than keep getting in and out of a warm, cosy and comfortable bed and disturbing Les.( not that he complains).I potter about, quietly, and catch up with some reading......6c today nothing to get excited about.

-22C First the snow and then colder, I dug out again yesterday afternoon, and may have to do the same tomorrow before even colder air moves in. Carol, sometimes I have to make an early call to the outhouse in the cold of winter. I'm chilled but only half awake, toss another log into the furnace and then crawl under the nice warm covers and I am off to neverland in seconds. Its pretty easy when there is nothing to get excited about at that time of the morning even though it is getting light outside.

-10C snow ahead of the front. I had one of those mornings today, and it felt good crawling back under the covers that were still warm. I am glad I got the grocery supply run out of the way yesterday. I went to make breakfast an noticed than the loaf of bread I bought was not there. I realized then that it must have fallen off of the toboggan when dragging it up from the parking area below. I found it only 75 meters from the house....still intact. I got lucky normally something like that would have never made it through the night. The overnight snowfall protected it from birds and animals.

Feeling quite unwell the last couple of days. Getting some weird BP readings and yesterday my pulse was only 45 when I got up. My BP is not that high but there is only 8 points between my high and low reading.RON.

-26C Brilliant sunshine under cobalt blue skies. We are in the deep freeze and the furnace is hungry. That is getting very low Ron, and it doesn't help when the meds you need are not available. I am going to go for a ski in the dry cold later and get some sun on my face.

Very hot nights at the moment. It is very difficult to get a good nights sleep. I have to leave the fan on all night and I find I have to put a towel on top of my pillow. My sleep is so poor I have a lot of bad dreams. Not pleasant. Ron.

I don't need to tell you how important a good nights sleep is Ron.......I just wish I could advise you. What works for me probably won't help you.Plus I don't know anyone that would get much rest in your present situation.,and you're a native Aus. so you'd know better than I do......8c here, breezy and dry.

-28C Brilliant sunshine. That's rough Ron, In the summer heat I could not possibly sleep or live without air conditioning and a dehumidifier, but as Carol says we are all different. Here its winter, I went for a good ski, and I'll do the same again today, this is the finest part of winter.

More heat and high humidity . Sorms are forecast every day for the next week. We had a cyclone form off the coast in the past week but fortunately it moved quickly away from the coast. Unfortunately New Zealand was in the firing line and they have had dreadful rain events around the Aukland area resulting in four deaths. Ron.

I saw the NZ floods on TV Ron...what the heck is going on ? I know they're saying global warming is to blame but it seems to have happened all of a sudden all over the world....Armageddon I tell you....I also read in the paper the sad news of a young Brit. lad killed by lightening after being on holiday in Aus. for only a week.So many people are losing lives due to the weather on a regular basis.
8c and sparkley bright again....Son Scott is lying spark out due to the heat....he wishes he was here but he wouldn't last a couple of days after being in Aus.for 23yrs. although some Aussies settle here quite well. They must be from Viking stock...or Canadian

-29C Cold and quiet. Seasonably normal here and in the forest one would never know about the struggles going on around the globe, but go into town and the problems are glaring, homeless people living out in the cold with little more than a tent or tarp along with all the crime. When I turn on the radio in the morning I often wonder if the rest of the world is still there or have they already pushed all the buttons during the night. In any case, I'll put on the skis later on.

Yes Carol I was aware of the young lad being struck by lightning. He was surfing at the time and he was in intensive care for nearly a week before he passed. Very sad. we are building to severe storms here today. We rarely see any weather event nowdays that isn't severe. In some ways I am glad I am no longer young and in or on the water. If I was still in the boats you would hardly get a day Goodenough to get out particularly the distances I used to travel. Ron.

Another bright sparkley day at 5c., but quite windy.......Looking out of the window it looks quite summery and make us feel we should be doing something out doorsy, but it's really quite cold once you get out.And the sun is annoyingly low in the sky meaning walking on the shady side of the street is more comfortable and safer. But it is getting light by 7-30am which I can vouch for having been up since 5am for toilet runs (excuse the pun)

-28C Bright sunshine under cobalt blue skies. Interesting hearing people talk about the weather. Nothing has changed in our region, one could pin the date on the callendar for when the lakes freeze up in fall, and break up in the spring. The same can be said about when the snow arrives in fall and melts in spring. But what has really changed are the dying forests and unsustainable logging. Other than wolves and bears, most of our wildlife is gone, and its not returning. The lakes have changed too, the run off from clear cut logging has put stress on the fisheries, and hydro electric development has not helped either. Now there are a lot of mining proposals for lithium for batteries. I think the electric car will be the final nail in the coffin for the environment. I'll go for another ski later.

8c and not a bad day again.....but I'm waiting for a good snow storm.Mind you,we haven't had good snow in this part of the country for years.North and south of us but not here. It's about 10yrs since we had snow lying for more than 24hrs.. I would be very sad at the distruction going on around you Buff. You will remember it as it once was but youngster won't and nor will they care,alas.....all the discoveries in the last 1-200yrs has been destroyed or ruined and Electric cars are not going to make a scrap of difference....Ron,how you doin' ? do you feel any better ?

-27C Brilliant sunshine. I cooked up a frozen pizza and I couldn't eat more than a couple of pieces, the pizza was doughy. I fed it to the birds, and they have voracious appetites in this kind of cold weather and will finish anything off in minutes. Not this pizza, they left most of it alone, makes me wonder what was wrong with it.

Hot ,humid and stormy. Not much incentive to go anywhere or do anything in this weather. Temps only got down to 26c overnight. It was 34c yesterday and humidity was 83%. I went to bed at 10.30 pm and got to sleep around 2.30 am. My lower back and sciatic nerves are in spasm non-stop at the moment. I will see the doctor tomorrow. It may be my last visit to him unless he lifts his game. Ron.

Buff it's good you weren't hungry enough to eat it,it's far to risky with your innards,or what's left of them.....Ron,it's a bugger when you have to fight for someone to take notice or take pity at our age and health problems .Hope you get sorted. 10c grey and windy here.....off for a hair cut,I know you 're both interested not.

I did not get a text or email confirming my appointment tomorrow so i will have to ring early to see if it is still on. One of the people from aged care came around today. WE had a good chat and she promised more action but I will believe it when I see it. All they seem to achieve is the production of paper work. It is after 10pm here and still 30c. If anyone tells me I'm going to hell I'll tell them I already live there. Ron.

-25C Mainly sunny and windy. I broke the snow rake yesterday while clearing the snow off of the other shed. It was probably too cold for the plastic blade making it brittle. I will make one out of wood, but today I'll go skiing. Ron you must be tough to handle that kind of heat at night. I could not endure that if my airconditioner broke down, I would check into a hotel. I can handle the cold but not that kind of heat for very long. Over here we have very little in the way of services for seniors, for the most part we are alone and on our own. There is little in the way of senior's care that is geared to income.

36c today and 35c tomorrow. Believe it or not there is snow falling on the alps in Vic and sthn NSW. I can put up with the 30c+ but I'm afraid the 80+% humidity is the killer. My doctors appointment is next Friday. I got up early for nothing. Ron.

10c today.Night temps are 7-8c which is the average day temps for this time of year. They're saying a drop in temps after the weekend........That sort of heat and humidity can't be good for health Ron .I always said that you can get warm somehow, if it's cold but that sort of heat is like Hell,as you say.It was the best idea we had deciding NOT to emigrate to Aus. but I have my daughter in law to thank really, and not the weather, although they were equally to blame.

-35C Brilliant sunshine under cobalt blue skies. These temperatures are well below normal, but we get this core of cold every year. This will be the last day of the cold spell, and with it means winter is past its peak. Ron, thats a bummer when one wakes up early for nothing when its hard enough to get a nights rest. I went for a longer ski yesterday, and I will pick up where I stopped yesterday afternoon

-16C Cloudy. I enjoyed the last good day out on the trail yesterday, today I'll try making a wooden blade for the snow rake and then attempt to clear off the shed roofs. Ron all those fans do is blow hot air around. I'm very surprised that window air conditioners are not available or popular in Austrailia. Here one can buy them super cheap in the department stores, and they can be run on the generators during power outages. In Canada we can deduct the cost of an airconditioner unit on one's tax return as a medical expense.

Overcast and 30c with 80% humidity. A 16 yr old was killed by a shark in the Swan river at Perth yesterday. I was watching the cricket from Perth yesterday, it was 381/2 c. Inshore and estuarine sharks get a bit agro at high temps particularly bull sharks. Ron.

I'm always amazed that people will actually go in the water over there Ron.I know the hot weather will make people careless in wanting to cool off. They do daft stuff over here. too, although cod and haddock isn't known to cause a problem.
7c and bright and sparkley.....again

People tend to get a bit blaze . It was the first fatal shark attack in that particular area for nearly a century. The authorities are putting it down to very hot temps and the presence of a large school of dolphins in the area. The 16 yr old girl was riding a jet ski and decided to dive in and swim with the dolphins . Obviously the dolphins had attracted sharks and the girl may have virtually jumped onto her attacker. Hot and humid and a low in the coral sea looks like turning into a powerful cyclone by the end of the week Ron.

Yes Carol Awful scenes from Turkey and Syria. The report I saw when I got up was 3500 dead and a huge number missing. The east coast cyclone expected to be named today. Very overcast, hot and humid, Ron.

5,000 + and rising Ron.It's the worst for 100yrs. I just don't know how they're coping ,but they don't have a choice. It being winter won't help.......9c with a sunny start but cloudy now.

-6C Gray. Yesterday was simply a bad day. I watched the buildings fall on the news during breakfast knowing there were people inside dying with in the collapse before my eyes. This one was bad with so much intensive destruction. Later I went in to buy groceries and people were agressive for some reason. The way people were driving; darting around, rushing, aggressive driving, always in a hurry. In the stores all these people on their phones oblivious of others around them. I was almost stabbed by a woman's elbow while she was totally absorbed with her phone call. I dropped dead into the recliner after I got home.

I watch the news each day looking for some good news and rarely find any. There was one event in WA which was amazing a 737 fire fighting retardant bomber crashed on the south coast. Both of the pilots walked away from the crash without injury. There is a cat3/4 cyclone west orf the Kimberly and one expected to be named tomorrow in the Coral sea. Hot and humid weather for the rest of the week and large seas and coastal erosion expected by Friday.

-3C Sunny. I had to look that one up Ron; those pilots were lucky to get away with their lives, pretty rough looking landscape to come down in. Its the same here, there has been nothing good on the news on any front, with a lot of discontent out there. There's been alot of anger about the Chinese balloon, and it will be interesting to find out what it was carrying. Given its size it appears doubtful it was just a weather balloon.

We have cyclones on both sides of the country but so far they are both moving away from the coast. they think that the only influence in the east will be on seas and tides. We are expecting strong winds in our area by Friday. Ron.

3c at 6am and has dropped to 2c now at 7-20am.....hope it gets warmer but the way things are in the world I will just be glad for a roof over my head a warm bed and food and water.... when your docs appt Ron ?

Tomorrow morning. I have had several calls from various agencies this week. I am getting a visit from a shrink next Tuesday. Finally i may get proof that I am crazy. Ron.

Saw the doc. My diabetes is well controlled, my kidneys are running well, my cholesterol is down to 5 which as good as it has ever been. He offered me narcotics for the pain which i declined immediately. Sill no word on my scope , Tho they keep saying it will be within the 90 days. It has been over 180 days. The east coast cyclone is now a large cat3. It is about to wallop Norfolk island and is making the north island of New Zealand very nervous. As for here you could drown just breathing the air. Ron.

-14C partly cloudy. Thats good to hear Ron, I am still waiting for a scope too, but its okay as I don't like getting these types of procedures done during the winter months. No mention about the results of the MRI on my pelvic area last month, but I'll take it that no news is good news.

That's good news Ron eh but what else did he suggest for your pain ?I have daily back ache and I use an over the counter med.that really works for me.BUT it's soluble so contains sodium which can be a problem for hypertension. But I'll risk that rather than suffer debilitating pain.I was on Tramadol via my GP but they stopped it by a phone call as I'd used it for a while, but it was useless. One day I might make an apt.for a face to face and have a serioud talk with whoever I get to see. It's been 5yrs and only seen practice nurse for my annual check up so they can't say I'm being a pest.Les still waiting MRI result since first week in Jan. 10c and cloudy today....I agree Buff but nowadays you can't trust anybody to do their best for us

He advised me to grin and bear it. He said that any of the other pain meds are likely to to destroy my tenuous kidney disease remission. I suggested that he give me a referral to a private GI for a scope. He said that would be fine for someone of lower risk but in my case if it went pear shaped like it normally does i could never afford it. Cyclone Gabriel will pass over Norfolk Island some time today. Hot and steamy weather today with 36c tomorrow. Ron.

-8C Sunny. I've been prescribed Percocet to control my pain and its been effective for all these years. To keep it effective I limit use of them, Once the pain becomes more than I can bear I take one and it extinguishes the pain effectively. I have not found any of the over the counter pain reliever to be effective. We went for a good snowmobile ride yesterday, there were others out too taking advantage of the good conditions.

We have another cyclone forming up in the western gulf of Carpentaria. It is very hot and humid today. I went out early and applied for a disabled parking exemption. I don't know whether it will make much difference as the disabled parking spots always seem to be taken. It will take about a month to arrive. Ron.

Get as much as you can Ron,you're entitled to it..........9c and very bright and sunny. To be honest I could enjoy a few days of wet and windy. All this sunshine is getting on my wick .We had a drive along the coast earlier and all the car parks were packed and there were loads of walkers, cyclists and joggers out,......too many for a chilly Monday in February.Lord help us at Easter. The longer I live the more convinced I am that this planet is used by other planets as a lunatic asylum

-6C It was another mild messy day, there should be improvement as colder air is expected to move in later in the week, which means snow. They are calling for possibly 25cms. Carol what you say could be true, like the saying 'Stupid people on a stupid planet.' The longer I live the more convinced that I am being punished for something I did wrong rightfully or wrongfully in a previous life.
