What is YOUR weather like today??

8C increasing cloudiness with possible showers. It looks like an indoor type of day coming up here too, conditions are perfect for the blackflies, cloud, humidity and no wind. I took the truck out for a ride which is now almost a month ago since I last drove. I had little problems sitting on the seat as my butt continues to heal. but I found the short trip to the mail box tiring, so I am not quite ready for the long drive for groceries quite yet. The iron pills are working, but its a frustrating slow go to get my strength back.

A good start with a warm breeze and sunshine so we had a walk along the river,up the bank though not along the actual riverside.
Just got home and the rain started. So bums on seats for the rest of the day.....The Walking Dead is being re-shown on TV so I'm a happy bunny......I'm definitely NOT a rom-com sort

Would never have thought you would be a walking dead fan Carol ,
I never even watched one episode , might download the first season to check it out ,good that ye got out into the sunshine today ,always helps with the mood

10C Sunny dandy start to the day, but I noticed the first mosquitos last night and again this morning. This is a bit concerting as they should not be coming out for another 4 more weeks, the black flies are a menace in themselves and don't need any extra back up help. The walking dead; I have heard of the show, but havn't watched it. I watch a lot of documentaries, and a few of these shows like Million Dollar island and Survivor, but not all of them. There's only so much one can watch. Its a warm sunny day, I hope it holds up as we really need sunshine and warmth after the endless cold rains.

Well we have lots of sun now,but it waited until I donned my PJs and now I've had to pull the blinds to see these keys, and yes,I can't type by touch hahaha. I came across W Dead by accident and watched all 11 series in a binge..I hope I enjoy it just as much a 2nd time,We only watch Docs ,adventure films and dramas, and I've moved from horror books to crime fiction lately...... well,it's good to extend your horizons

8C partly cloudy with clouds of biting flies. We had a shower, with no wind and the humidity makes the perfect conditions for black flies. Recovery takes another turn and now I can sleep in a regular bed and it feels great to sleep on my side again. I had some good deep sleep which is a treat. Strength is slowly coming back, I can get up now and also walk the stairs without getting light headed. I am making headway after the setback. Lots of time for watching TV and using the internet. I enjoy watching the original Startrek series, it was a show that was well ahead of its time. I'll be cooking up my favorite chicken dinner later on. So if anyone wants to stop in I'll put the tea pot on.

That's great Bufford ,I think you're well on the way to recovery now ,

Was in with the surgeon today ,he was delighted with the wound , really going well , and even more importantly the lab biopsies were back and all the removed tissue was clear ,inflammation only ,
16 C but dull but I don't care

Good news Buff,I can almost feel your relief that things are looking up.I would love to come for a chicken dinner thankyou ,it's been years since someone cooked for me and my diet is absolute rubbish.Les eats well though...

12c and heavy rain all afternoon, and more to come the next few days....we haven't been out as Les had a couple of phone appointments .All's well for now and that's all we can ask....

I keep hoping Ron will turn up ,that maybe he's been in hospital ,but , well but....

4C It was a cold frosty night and I put a good fire on this morning to warm the place up. The weather people are predicting a normal summer for a change meaning it will be warmer and drier, which would be welcomed after several years of cold wet summers. All the media hype about wildfires in Canada are coming from just a few small locations to the far northwest which is typical, and does not reflect what is really going on with the rest of the country.
Its a sunny day, which will help keep the biting flies at bay during the high point of the day allowing me to go for a good walk, maybe I will go over to the lake and see the dock I built before the operation.

That's Great Bufford , wanting to get out and about is a great sign of recovery , you were right last week when you said I'm about a week behind you recovery wise ,
Starting to wean off the painkillers for the last few days , want to be off them fully in a couple of weeks , so obviously feeling better
Not too bad here today 18C with some sunshine

Cold, wet and windy.....have got the heating on low.....we've had such a lot of rain these last few weeks and the plants out the back are saturated .I've had summer clothes on twice so far this year .Going for my 6 monthly dental check later. It's only a 15 minute walk
but I hope the rain stops as I'll be like Mary Poppins if I have to take my brolly.....this time last year we were having a heat wave..

I enjoyed the movie Mary Poppins, the music and the magic, those were the best times for the movies, and back in the day the buckets of popcorn and pop. I long for the days when I could eat anything I wanted.
I put a small fire on this morning to take the chill off, but careful not to burn too much as it looks like a nice summer day coming up. I am going to try to make it to the lake today, as yesterday my heart told me to go back home at the halfway point. The last couple of days I have been tapering on the pain meds, I don't force myself, as I found by experience that I don't take them when my body doesn't have the need for them. I get a clearer head and more strength. This morning I made a big breakfast, with eggs and bacon.

It's good to hear that you and Tony are getting better day by day ,hopefully, soon, it will all be a distant memory....talking of distant I need a tooth out and the soonest apt.is end of August !!!....it's been a wobbler for over a year but she just wanted to " leave it for now"........In the old days my Dad would have tied it to a door handle with a length of string made me stand back, then slammed the door.....next morning there was sixpence under my pillow, from the tooth fairy.

Hey Guys, lovely day here today ,18C ,
Dropped pain meds from 250mg to 100mg ,feeling the odd 😈 poker in that area ☺️
but will be glad to be off the pain meds as they're really messing with my digestion and head ,
Crazy that you have to wait that long for a dental appointment Carol
Glad that you're doing better Bufford

I spent the afternoon sitting out on the dock, feeling the play of the waves beneath me. Nothing like a big floating dock away from the biting flies with the breeze. Everything bright spring green against the blue skies with the odd jet passing high overhead. Now that is an afternoon, good for healing. Today its gray and unsettled, I may do the drive later and get some supplies. My teeth are not much better, and I have a couple of those wobblers you speak of Carol, they have been that way for a few years. Tony, the pain meds are both a curse and a friend, but doing with less is far better. Living with worn parts, but hey it starts and runs. 10C Cloudy with passing clouds of biting flies.

Now I'm going to be singing Marvin Gaye all night......that was a good post Buff, I was sitting right there with you.
5pm here and the sun is blazing through the window so it's time to pull down the blinds......oh.for the dark evenings and mornings

I went in and did a supply run, it was a long one with 7 stops, but the grocery store was the long grind. In pain, I was glad to drop my bones into the recliner and settled in for some chinese food. I make my own egg drop and mushroom soup to save a few bucks and it tastes the same as it comes from the restaurant. I take a half a can of chicken or beef consomme soup, simmer it with fresh mushrooms for half an hour before adding some chopped green onion or chives from the garden, simmer some more before breaking an egg into the soup and give it a quick short stir to mix the egg. Don't over do the mixing of the egg. Then enjoy. 15C sunny, I may go out to the dock if the thunderstorm predicted holds off.

I'm going to try that recipe Buff. I'm always looking for quick and easy stuff....At 6am til 8 today I made two minced (ground) beef and potato, pies, one for the freezer, a corned beef, bacon and sausage casserole with fried, mushroom, onions and potato (for Tuesday) and prepped veg etc for a frittata for tomorrow, as well as egg, tomato, lettuce and mayo sandwiches for todays tea/supper.
All of it for Les of course....I don't eat what he does....Oh, and despite Les having 2 phone apts last week and me having 2 doc and a dentists apt,we now have another 11 between us,not including a hair apt for me.They spread out until October except for one Les has in FEB.2025 can you believe ?...I suppose we should be grateful though.
It's been a warm 21c so far with clear blue skies, but it's clouding over now. We've had our walk so a lazy afternoon to look forward to.

I went for a walk to the lake instead of sitting out on the dock as the weather was unsettled. Today its a nice summer day, and I will park myself on the dock. I put a small fire on to take the chill off, as there is no denying that the nights are cold. The black flies are not very potent this year, but the mosquitos make up for it and are a force of might. Tony my butt has healed up pretty good, but the area is itchy. My issue is that my waterworks are no longer what it used to be prior to surgery, I can only partially relieve myself, constantly going every hour and still feel full. 12C sunny.

Hey Bufford, itchy is supposed to be a good healing sign , mines not itching yet but I look forward to having an itchy behind again🤣 ,my waterworks are working well , It takes a few attempts to empty fully but getting there ,apparently it strengthens the muscle if you can stop mid flow and start again but haven't tried that yet ,
Pain is getting better so might go to just one tablet during day time and see how I get on , lovely day here now 24C and lots of sunshine ,
We're minding Louis the Bernese and he's attempting to mount our poor little Ellie all day ,have to get the hose to him soon ,teenagers 😀

I went out and soaked up the afternoon lakeside on the dock, it was quite a summer day watching the dragon flies and the big jets going overhead. The A380 stands out from the other jets, as one can see the four engines even when they are at cruising altitude. The air fills with thunder, one can feel the power and size of that jet even from that far. It would be great to fly even once first class on a big one for the experience, instead of booking the cheap seats in steerage to see family. Today its wet and cold, with an outhouse full of mosquitos. Maybe some puppies coming your way Tony?Sometimes, when I stand just right, I would qualify for the fire department, and it all works well. But all too often it just quits mid stream with a mind of its own, only to tell me I got to go once I am comfortably back in bed. Last night I may have had all but 3 hours of sleep.
10C Rain

Great watching the planes fly by , there's a great app called flightradar24 and you can ID the planes and where they are going
20C and some sunshine now ,
Bufford I think it can take a few months for things to settle down down there , mine starts grand but it's getting the reserve tank empty takes a few minutes patience , (sorry Carol)☺️

I had a zoom appointment with my regular doctor and she too said that things could/should improve with time. It was a long appointment almost 40 minutes and covered many things. She says I am doing well, as well as pushing the limits and that I should go easier. More pain relievers, and more time in the slow lane. Sounds all good. I cannot do anything today anyways, its soggy wet, and the mosquitos are so thick one could cut the air with a knife. 16C humid, with clouds of biting flies, not fit for man or beast outdoors.

Hey Bufford , that great that you had the zoom consultation , I tried to go down to one painkiller a day but got a bit too uncomfortable, I know what you mean about slowing down ,if you push too much you only go backwards,
Good food with lots of protein is essential as well I think ,
Hey Carol hope you're enjoying the nice weather with Les

... been awhile since I posted here, although I do check in from time to time

Always get a chuckle from Carol's postings
... she's like the crazy aunt/grandmother that holds everything together for the rest of us and gives us a reference to how things used to be / ought to be ( sorry yer tv remote is broken an You have to get up to change the channel ..., back in my day we only had three channels an we had to get up from the chair to change the channel/adjust the aluminum foil on the rabbit ears.. and it was up hill both ways and usually snowing ... lol .. )

Pretty crazy times we're living in, and my phone is constantly alerting me to some crisis or another that only more money to some blarney scheme or another will "solve" ... definitely not like the olden days before we all had phones in our pockets ... used to be we could could chose to watch the news and they would report on what happened and we could decide how we felt about it ... now they report how we should feel about an event, and we have to decide if it actually happened ...

Thankfully, things have been crazy enough in my world that I don;t have any time to devote to the latest outrage

I feel very blessed that (for the most part) I have a good health care team, as We;ve sure found things to "work" on,

... The medical "profession" sure has evolved these last few years, and I really feel for those who aren't getting timely care ...

Best wishes to all;

T-Bone

Nice to see you t-bone, we could do with you showing up now and then.....as to the crazy aunt / grandmother !!!!
I'm speechless, but not for long ,watch this space...Glad life's treating you well though, because the rest of the crew on here are doing my head in with worry sometimes...If you're from the "3 tv channel era" then you're from my era ,so less of the crazy aunt / grandmother thankyou very much......a nice dry day here ,but boy is the wind cold for June

3 channels, very posh ,we only had one channel growing up with an hour of kids tv from 5pm to 6 pm ,
Hey Carolor should I say Aunty 😁,hey Bufford and T Bone ,

Feel much better since my trip to the hair salon ,it's taken years off me as well as thirty quid out of my purse hahaha

Those who like my posts are more intelligent and better looking than those who don't......
according to a study I just made up....

Great to see you step in T Bone it appears that we are all on the same raft flowing down the river of life, but hopefully not over the falls. I never warmed up to the idea of carrying around one of those crazy expensive phones, but rely more on tree mail than email living in these rural parts. But the biting flies make up for the difference with their form of notifications.
The doctor said to take it easy and not to break it as it would be a complicated matter to fix. She prescribed more painkillers, and as you say Tony, I have tapered, but I still need the painkillers. Pain creates stress, which only strains the healing process further, and the body doesn't need that at this time.
Its a rotten day; humid, raining, and the biting flies are waiting on the other side of the door, 14C

not too bad a day , 18c , was sunny for most of the morning but its starting to rain now, on top of all my other complaints I've succumbed to the dreaded thrush , oral and down there as Les Dawson used to say , Im blaming all the bloody antibiotics pre and post surgery ,
anyway just somewhere else i cant itch (sorry Carol )

9C cold and wet, with clouds of mosquitos.
Not fit for man or beast outside today. First thing I did was light the fire before boiling the breakfast egg. Tony, I only had antibiotics for the first week post surgery before they took me off of them. So far so good, no thrush. I remember the thrush I had 23 years ago in hospital, it was pretty gross, but I found frequent use of alcohol based mouthwash after each meal was good for getting rid of it in my mouth. I also used it down below with paper towels, and it provided a clean feeling along with taking away the itch ( sorry Carol, but we know you understand). The non alcohol based mouthwash is good for nothing, its just political correctness in a bottle.
Looks like a good day to hibernate.

... damn, sorry to hear of everyone's challenges down below

I've had some luck with using a vitamin A and D ointment in the tender areas
... seems to calm things down a bit for me, ( your mileage may vary / consult your provider prior to use )

I use the Bayer A and D ointment, (meant to prevent diaper rash,) but there may be better products for your particualr sitautions (good question for your pharmacist ?)

It's especially uselfull during periods of prolonged diareha, or during a colonoscopy prep, as it kind of waterproofs the area / provides a barrier to the acidic/alkali liquids

I've got a colonscopy next week, and I'm already using it hoping to avoid that particular unpleasant complication of the prep

t-bone that's about my weekly spend. £100 at the supermarket and extra during the week for bread and milk etc.
I do cook batches sometimes which feels like a bonus sometimes......
Buff so sorry for you my friend, but honestly thrush is worse for women. BUT you've had surgery that I hope I never have to suffer so I'll won't harp on about child birth ,hyster (ical) ectomys etc.
another cold breezy day, colder than it ought to be for June that's for sure..I even put the heating on for half an hour,to take the chill off....no scratching guys. As me mam used to say ," it won't get better if you scratch it "

I'm not alone with the cold, its 8C gray with a cold north wind, cold enough to hold back the clouds of mosquitos, but not quite cold enough for snow. It would not surprise me one bit if we get snowflurries overnight. Search and Rescue is flying low with a Hercules C130 rumbling through the skies this morning. Either someone is lost or they are looking for someone of interest. It will likely be in the local news later. Its the same here with groceries, $100 is barely enough for one week, thankfully we have wood heating, for there would be nothing left for food given the ridiculous level of taxation they put on the essentials like heating fuels. That C130 just shook the house maybe a couple hundred meters up.

We had quite the airshow yesterday, as it turned out it was Search and Rescue doing their training maneuvers, at times so low they were just above the trees. As the CL130 was flying the pattern, a couple of choppers joined in including the one with two rotors that looks more like a flying submarine, this went on well into the afternoon. I put the fire on this morning and then cooked up a big breakfast of bacon and eggs, a treat I like doing at least once a week. I need it for all the blood donations I am doing for the biting flies. Looks like a better day coming up. Sunny 10C

It's good to have something different to focus on Buff .It's just a pity the choppers didn't blow the black flies to hell for you.
It's still cool for June but no doubt we'll get a blazing heat wave for me to moan about soon.....Have had the heating on for a short while, so time to switch off now, hopefully until October

6C wet windy and cold, and if it were not for the leaves on the trees I would say that summer is nowhere in sight. I don't know about going without heating until Oct Carol, our summers keep on getting colder and wetter. I recall back in my working days when I would turn the window airconditioner on and it would run for weeks non stop and there was never a need for putting a fire on, rather the wildfires were in the news and they were often ferocious. I am gaining strength, yesterday I had the chainsaw going and cut up a lot of dry wood from the tree that came down. I'll be needing that wood given the direction this summer is going.

I knew you'd have chopping on your mind Buff, but DON'T overdo it....there's no point having a good supply of logs
if you end up back in hospital. But I also know it's what you need to do,both mentally and physically....Weather here
is dismal until next week.Cool with showers daily....but we had a record frost free Spring this year they say,and very little snow during Winter......we're having more than 18hrs daylight now but I think the longest day is this month and then it's countdown to cosy nights
hahaha......we should look so far ahead at our age, days, weeks and months fly by as it is, but summer days are so long, especially when
I'm up with the Larks..........Tempis Fugit and all that so Carpus Deim ( excuse spelling....Latin was never my forte hahaha)

I'll be looking forward to the solstice and when the sun goes in the right direction again, I don't like the long days either Carol, they are draining. It got close to the freezing mark last night which gave a break from the biting flies. Life would be much easier without them, and that short break goes to show how difficult life is at this time of year compared to the rest of the year. If man or beast can survive the biting fly season, the rest of the year is a walk in the park by comparison. We have one nice day coming up, and plan to enjoy it, for it will be another week of wet weather ahead once again.

That's brilliant Bufford, just a week behind you , how's the pain ? I get the odd jab but in general the bad pain is totally gone ,
18 C here with some sunshine , still using my blow up cushion but have the feeling another month and I'll be good to go ,
Hey Carol👋

Beautiful day here today 20C and sunny time to head 😎 out for some sunshine/vitamin D,
Got a letter this morning from my other surgeon offering to do my gall bladder on the 24th July , at least that's only an overnight 🙃,
Hey Bufford ,TBone and Aunty Carol ,anytime I hear the expression "Aunt" reminds me of Bertie Wooster 😁

Any surgery after this kind will seem pretty minor by comparison. A gallbladder will be a walk in the park Tony. I'll be going in for an MRI for my wrist later this summer, and the surgery will seem like a doctor visit, at least until I will want to use the hand effected. I rode the ATV all the way to the mailbox and back, about a half hour ride. The seat is flat and firm and I had no issues. I am waiting for the stitches to fall out, and I'll know more this afternoon as my appt with the surgeon is via zoom from home. Way better than driving all the way in, and the outrageous parking fees at the hospital. The only real outcome so far, is that life seems to feel a bit different, like a new chapter in life. 15C unsettled.

Hey Bufford glad to hear you're doing so well , sitting is definitely getting easier, had no opiates today , just some Tylenol and so far so good ,
20C and sunny
Think one of my stitches fell off today 😀

13c....not much more to say weatherwise.......day 3 of head cold and dry cough and feeling out of sorts....Doc phoning this PM after 2nd blood test but as I've waited 2wks for this call I don't think it's an emergency somehow.

12C unsettled, I'm sure going through the firewood this year, making up from what I saved from the mild winter, and the mosquitos are the worst we have seen in years. No news from the doctor is good news Carol, but I did have my zoom meeting with the surgeon. I thanked her for the work she did, and I was given the go ahead for a glass of scotch, although I will hold off for longer. I find a rum and orange juice is enough at this point. She said I should be okay with seeded buns, as these are unavoidable at some restaurants. My diet is less restricted now, which means I can try some of my old favorites like a good tossed salad.

It all sounds good Buff and no doubt Tony will be back on the Guiness with an Irish whisky (spl ?) chaser, very soon.
The 3-20pm phone apt didn't turn up until 6pm.Have to go along to docs next week for a " ladies " apt. . ...least said....
raining now and apparently it was 2c during the night, I might have to get the winter woollies out of storage again

Can't stand Guinness Carol ,we have a much nicer stout here in Cork called Murphys ,anyway it's a moot point as its years since I had a drink ,
We got the rain here this morning and had to drive to the dentist (dental hospital),
Got a root canal done and the lack of pain is brilliant, went to the dental hospital as its way cheaper ,
My dentist wanted about 1500 euro for a root canal and a crown 👑, dental hospital €450 for the same ,
Anyway hope you and Les are OK, hey Bufford, hey T Bone.
Nice afternoon here 18C with a nice bit of sunshine

Trying to recover from yesterday's colonoscopy

I'm a lil concerned about hearing "please like and subscribe and if you havent hit the notification bell do so for access to all our latest content" as I came out of the anethesia ... ...

Par for the course, they found the usual issues, but overall, things went pretty well, ( and I got some new images for next years christmas cards, so i got that goin for me )

It's a 103 degrees at 2% humidity today

... went to pet my dog and a lightning bolt of static electricity ⚡!! shocked him on his snoz
... he's hiding under the couch now

Thankfully, the swamp cooler makes for a bit more pleasant experience inside the house

Hope all is well with all y'all

Those colonoscopys takes it out of you all right esp the prep , don't know how ye handle those temps ,
on a good year we might get into the 80's for a few days but generally we are in the low 70's , 22/23C ,
Sleep and rest is the best way to recover from them ,it's like sleeping off a good night out , if I remember what that's like ,
Be well soon T Bone

We haven't been out after dark for years and that includes winter when It's dark at 4pm......no attraction nowadays .grey and cold start to the day here and I've just put the heating on for Les crawling out of the pit, We both had a bad night so will stay indoors and potter about .Les might put a new gate on the back with the site manager at his beck and call as usual

You are not alone Carol, I put on a good fire this morning to take off the chill, and this summer is proving to be another to add to the list of cold summers we keep getting now. I was concerned about having to lift the airconditioner into the window, but given the weather next week, I have doubts that I will need it at all this summer, a lot of rain is in the forecast. I will need to ease myself into cutting wood and work my way up. Chances are good next winter will be very cold after the elino year we had, so I don't want to come up short.
Last night was lousy, seems like some kind of blockage. Where is Easy street, its got to be somewhere?

Not much change here,we still need coats on,,,,and socks etc,and a short sharp blast of the heating in the mornings...
short note...Les couldn't get out of the bath yesterday and after struggling ourselves for 2hrs had to phone for help at 5pm.Advised to call ambulance ,which I was loath to do,but they were great,After checking him over we ended up at a hospital 10 +mls away at 6pm and got home after 3 am with anti-biotics due to an infection. Hard plastic seats, freezing cold,no coffee snack machine, starving hungry, tired, stressed and really p'd off and £30 worse off for taxi home...this is what we paid taxes and N.I. for for 60yrs !!!!

Hey Bufford, off the opioid s for the 4 days , more ache like pain but going to stick it out ,
Wound seems to have dried up fully and is shrinking back as well ,
Really think I'm over the worst , hope you are OK and the blockage? has resolved itself ,

Hey Carol ,hey TBone ,
Weather OK 18 with sunshine but showers not far away .

Hey Carol hope Les is OK 🫠 , baths are a nono for me nowadays ,council/hse(nhs) put in a walk in shower with a seat for me ,
Have ye got anything like that over there

It's really horrible having to wait like that for treatment,
The tories have really killed the NHS,
Be well my friend 🫠

15C The blockage passed, but over the last few days I have a bad case of restless leg syndrome, it feels like something crawling inside my legs and arms when I am sitting, and only goes away when I get up and move only to return if I sit down. It maybe due to the iron deficiency. I take very few painkillers now, nothing since last evening. I sometimes think the health system sides a bit too far on safety Carol, it probably would have been better for them to just get Les out of the tub, do a quick check and then make a recommendation to see the doctor than to put the both of you through all this trouble and strain. Reminds me of the nurse practitioner who recommended going back to the ER after I gave up waiting. I went with my hunch and glad I did.
I think the worst is over Tony, I can sit normally, live without the painkillers, and eat well. Now if we could only get a good heat wave going, where I can sit out on the deck life might be good.

Buff RLS is bloody awful !!! It drives me insane.I used to consider getting out on the bike in the middle of the night....I take Magnesium supplements and haven't had a problem for over a year.I also take iron. But I used to think it was due to sitting on my behind for too long when it's not normal for me.You'll probably laugh, but a friend on the forum suggested a bar of soap under the bottom bed sheet and it's only recently that I've stopped that....any port in a storm.

Tony, yes I could probably get help but I struggle to ask for it, it's just not in my nature......The parameds are getting in touch with social/mental health this week.In the meantime I've ordered a bath seat and grasp handle from Amazon....do they do new husbands I wonder ?...No, on second thoughts I won't bother .It's taken me 57+ years to get this one half trained...
Cool and calm today.Having a little walk to the park then a good dose of Walking Dead while Les has a snooze

Carol The walk in shower is a must ,either that or get the NHS to supply you with a hoist ,
I worked in a hospital when I was young and they are brilliant, it takes all the danger away when giving someone a bath
Don't be too proud (or stubborn 😇) to ask for help my friend ,
Sending good thoughts and atheist prayers your way ,
Beautiful day here 18 C with some sunshine and clouds ,perfect for just chilling out ,
Hey Bufford, TBone

12 C Wet and raw. A stark contrast from the weather yesterday when I sat out on the dock for the afternoon in summer conditions getting a tan. Your healthcare system is far more robust than what we have here. We cannot get any of these aids of assistance, but they will allow a very small income tax reduction once/if they approve the receipts, its all out of pocket expenses otherwise. I may have to go back on the magnesium tablets as this RLS happened years back, I'll check to see if they are still before their expiry, but I did find taking a multivitamin to help when symptoms rise. I try to take my mind off of it, for if one thinks about it, it gets worse.

Thanks Tony...Atheist prayers welcome

12C Gray. Seems the four year expired magnesium zinc tablets worked and brought some relief. Heat wave conditions to our east and cold with some snow on higher ground to our west, with clouds of biting flies in between. A good day to hibernate.

I can safely say that summer is in the dumpter for 2024, I've written it off, looking forward to fall, and counting the days, you are not alone Carol. I've got a bad case of cabin fever from being indoors too much. 10C gray with heavy clouds of biting flies, the worst in years with no end in sight for the cold wet weather cycles. Tony, 18C isn't much by summer standards, but making lemon aid from lemons can go a long ways for positivity. Maybe its time to look at ski wax? I could really go the distance doing some 'left n right' on some clean white snow in the dry cold with the warm sun on my back, now that I am more than 6 weeks post op.

Bufford 18 -20 is great weather for us , we don't get extremes so once it's dry and sunny we are happy ,and we can do anything in that kind of weather, if it gets to the mid 20's we're all complaining about the 🥵

No one ever hears ME complain hahaha.
Phone's never stopped with offers from the Mental health team but I told them we're OK for now thanks. I know the time will come
and I'll be grateful, but I'll leave it for now.The grasp bar and bath seat work a treat.Thet wanted to put in a care call phone
but you have to give them a ph. no. {family/friends) and there isn't anybody close ,so no point really......one day at a time, like every thing else.

It felt good to get out of the house, went in for stoma maintenance and they want to put me on home care as I have aggressive granulation going on around the stoma along with the stuborn rash. When it comes to post op healing its a couple steps forward followed by a step back. Being older, I can see that i am much slower to heal than the surgery 23 years ago.
I miss the hot summers Tony, I like the deck weather of 28 to 30C as we used to get regularly for weeks upon end. Being older I feel the cold. Its been no exception yesterday, I got into the house and put the fire on, then the storm came after supper, power went out, and the generator had a good run. We had that cloud to ground bomb lightning, which is unerving to say the least. Put the fire back on this morning 15C soggy feels like winter is coming.

Yeah the heat is good on the bones as we get older Bufford ,sometimes I feel like moving to a warmer climate like Portugal ,
But I think I would miss the seasons too much
We are blessed where we live because even in winter we get a lot of bright days where you can still enjoy the sunshine in a sheltered area ,
Pain from the rear is almost gone. ,down to a dull ache late at night ,
A good fire is great at heating you up and just makes you feel good by looking at it burn
The wife got rid of the wood burning stove last year as it was too much work ,
Now she wants it back after giving away the stove and drywalling over the area ,
So at least we'll have a fire again for the winter
Hope you get that granulation and rash under control ,
I had one a few years ago and the stoma nurse used a paste on it ,I think it was Orabase ,normally used for mouth ulcers but it sorted me out fairly quickly ,
Be well my friend,

Hey Carol hope you are enjoying some nice weather ,
22C clear blue skies ,
Off in to watch the football(soccer) now .

17c and climbing....but hopefully NOT above 20c and it seems to be here for the weekend. .Animal charity has just been and collected 10 bags of stuff
and I feel liberated !!! Having a walk over to the park later to sit under a tree and listen to the birds. It's been a busy week.

Forgot to mention that it's the summer solstice today,,,,the longest day....the further north eg. Shetland Isles, the longer the day, almost 20hrs I think, but don't quote me....I'M NOT ALWAYS RIGHT (except for me surname )

Today is the solstice, it comes at 3:50 CDT, then things should improve in the following weeks as the worst of the year is behind us, in my opinion as the real summer should rise. Spring around here is not at all like it is portrait in romance or story books; spring here is unrelentingly raw, wet, cold with biting flies.
Glad you are getting the wood stove back Tony, when one is older, there's nothing like working the woodstove to take the chill off, and the wood work is good cardio for the heart and soul. In the coming weeks I should be back on the pile with the chainsaw and the axe. And with being on pension, I cannot afford furnace oil, and would rather put the money towards better and more interesting foods or anything that improves my standard of living.
14C Partly cloudy. Maybe I will cook fancy for supper to celebrate the solstice.

That's absolutely brilliant, but I'm quite comfy watching the football , don't think my wife would appreciate being called my hairy friend 😀

Welcome to my club, I don't feel so alone;)with the state of the weather. 13C overcast with billowing clouds of biting flies. The cat gave me a scare last night as she was getting sick and was in pain. She later did her business on the floor, having had the symptoms of constipation, once this passed she was fine. I was worried that she may need emergency vet care in the night. At 12 years old like many older cats she is prone to constipation. Last thing I need is a vet bill. This morning I am the opposite, and have dug a groove in the ground going back and forth to the outhouse with full blown diarrhea, I guess my efforts at making homemade chinese food got the better of me.
