0C with a flurry, I guess I must be lucky, its been quiet, but I did have visitors yesterday making for a good afternoon. I did a great job on cooking that chicken breast, it was my best guess for perfection, juicy not one bit of it being dry. I am upping my game today with ribs, they are marinating and awaiting a slow cook in the oven.

What a difference a day makes....a cold breezy 6c and raining to boot .I haven't been out except to the corner shop for milk, but the traffic is almost non- existant compared to yesterday.Looks like rain or showers for the rest of the week too.

-3C Partly cloudy, calm. It was a slow day yesterday albeit busy in the kitchen, as the ribs were a great success. Today its simple what Ron has for breakfast I will do for supper; fish n chips, in this case its battered haddock. They come prepared, out of the freezer and into the airfryer along with the chips. I got several meals out of the ribs in the freezer for some easy meals later. Tony that is a nice day you had down at the beach, I may go for a walk later, I need it.

Going for walks daily does wonders for the body, when the weather or biting flies keep me indoors my body goes off of its game quickly and after awhile I feel like mud. Cutting and splitting firewood is the best of both worlds, I get a workout and in return a warm house without a heating bill.
Mainly cloudy 0C calm.

Heavy rain but no wind to make it worse....In this weather it's a bit daft to go for our daily constitutional so it's an indoor day.Les is out back worrying over his newly planted bulbs and wildflower seeds. We need warmth and sunshine to keep him and the butterflies and bees happy......just watching news of a big quake in Taiwan.....I've said it before....Armageddon is near !!!

0C Cloudy with a raw easterly wind. Its April; the coldest, dampest most raw month of the year. Everybody is complaining about just about everything, the layer of civility is about as thin as a veneer. It would not take much to break through.

Sunny -2C windy. It was a raw one yesterday and my truck got sandblasted by the wind in the parking lot while watching bags and other debris blowing away in the wind. They didn't call for any snow, but the sky sure looked like it would, and sure enough we got a couple of cms in the evening. The roads are brutal, the repair shop people will be happy with the increase in business.

-1C Sunny but dry. Nice day coming up and the snow slowly melts. Cheka you are living in the right place with the warmer climate. With the direction this country is going, Mexico with its warmer climate and living standards look better all the time. Its practically impossible to live on a senior's pension here. Its been awhile Ron, hope things are okay.

the droughts and heat from the south central US down to south america have been exceptional the last three years or so. something's not right with our weather

18c and blustery...... too soon for whinging ,it might be a long summer. Walked down to the weekly craft market and really struggled home, but we have to try eh ? cheka you'll find that we all agree there's something amiss with the weather ,but we're a good mix country wise and it's good to know how other folk cope. We in the UK really don't have much to moan about by comparison but I do in summertime, often

The weather is the number one subject people complain about, here's my whine; it would appear the weather will be poor on the day of the eclipse on Monday, but its only a partial one. Still it's a rare phenomenon only seen a few times in a lifetime. 2C sunny and calm.

storm is mostly gone , someone has taken Kathleen home 😁 at last , but before she went she took down a neighbours big tree on our boundry and took all our internet cables with it. nice now 12 c sunny and blustery

today started out beautiful clear sky 27C. by midday the sky was covered in mess, man made intentional mess. i'm jealous of your UK weather!

2C Yesterday was a dandy, sunny with temperatures up into the teens. I finished the dock for the canoe while the ice was still safe. At this rate the ice will be going out early for a change, although the weather can be changeable and can never rule out another cold front. The forecast looks poor for the partial eclipse, but well see. I hope Ron is okay.

heavy rain and 4C feels really cold , tree surgeons clearing up the wreckage from the downed tree , broadband repair crew due tomorrow to repair line , funny how you get used to reliable broadband and all of a sudden you are tethering off your phone again

12c cloudy and calm.Thank goodness the wind has dropped.........I don't know how people manage to live in areas prone to quakes, volcanos, tornados and floods. I mean, fancy having that worry always at the back of your mind....
I hope Ron's broadband is off,I'm really worried now....

3C Mainly cloudy. Power outages are one thing as portable generators provide easy reliable back up power, but a broadband outage is quite another thing and very disrupting. Ron concerns me too. I'll find out later what the surgeon has to say about things going forward. The weather conditions don't look promising for the partial eclipse later on.

7c and torrential rain....hope you got to see the eclipse Buff. Niagara Falls had rain but it cleared in time to give folk a good view.
It's just been on our TV news

3C Gray. The eclipse was a washout here with rain, but it did make the skies darker than normal for the time of day. They had a much better view to the south with good weather coming in at the last moment. I thought about booking flights last year to see it when prices were cheaper, now I regret my decision. I thought the phone appt with the surgeon was yesterday, but it will be today.

9c and a fine morning but raining now although a LOT lighter than yesterdays torrential all day downpour'
Hope you phone apt. goes OK Buff.......thing are definitely not the same as pre.Covid, but I can't decide if phone consultations are better or not.....Les has two coming. One to check his heart monitor device and another from his cancer consultant. His five years is up this summer so he will hopefully be signed off.....

Clearing up nicely here gone up to 13C , just been put on BP meds for the first time (omesar) happy enough as it was worrying me a bit
might look at olive leaf and hawthorn supplements for bp. both have some good trials/papers published on pubmed. i take both - one in the morning, one at night.

weather was crazy in houston this morning -- 75 mph wind, thousands of lightning strikes per hour, hard rain, high wind, some hail. clearing up nicely now. hope to go to the outdoor basketball court later today

Thanks for that Cheka , will check them out

I had the phone appt with the surgeon, surgery tentatively scheduled towards the end of May which is good timing as the biting flies emerge and can't do anything outside. I'll be glad to have the rectum chopped out, but unsure if I want to lose the colon. Life will be more difficult and expensive with the watery output without the colon, more interruptions during the night and a greater chance of catastrophic containment breaches in bed. Another unknown is how much weaker will I become without the colon for digestion. The rectum creates a lot of urgency, often ending in a mess, like this morning, and cancer cannot be ruled out.
Carol, I like telephone apts with the doctor far better than in office. There are few distractions when talking one on one on the phone as I find the doctor spends a lot of time in office entering data on their laptops, and other interruptions. I don't care for the driving in and the waiting for the doctor, its so much easier from home. I have had some very deep conversations with my GP doc that wouldn't take place at the office, there is something different without the sterility of the clinic.

Welcome to the BP club Tony. One thing to beware of when starting these pills is to monitor your BP as over the next days or weeks you might find yourself feeling weak or faint because of BP becoming too low. It happened to me when I first started and the doctor adjusted my dose downward and I have been fine since.

I agree Buff. it's a lot less of a faff on the phone and I usually write a list to ask which stops me from getting brain fog.
Your upcoming op.sounds complex and I hope it turns out for the best for you.Try not to overthink it....says she,the queen of the overthinking...

5C Sunny. The snow has been replaced by mud, and April as such moves slow as mud. The tax office has my taxes prepared, now I have to prepare myself for how much they want from me, not the tax preparers but rather the greedy useless government. Its a serious operation, but given how I have been feeling I know I need it, if I want to keep this body running.

Hey Bufford, it's not the end of the world getting rid of the colon , I'm going on 9 years post op and to be quite honest most of the time I forget I have it on ,
The op does take a bit out of you but I was down to about 110 lbs and had no other option ,
The most important thing in my post op period was getting support from coloplasts ostomy nurse ,
Two days after I was home she arrived at our home and sorted me out with advice and products
In the 9 years I've had only 3 bad leaks ,two at home in bed and one in the hospital emergency dept , didn't even notice it for a while, I thought it was a nearby baby who needed a diaper chang🤢

Now I'm about 170 lbs and apart from type 2 diabetes, highish BP and arthritis, I'm doing OK, I'm 63 🫤 but generally don't think I'm 63 ,
If you need any info or help ,please don't hesitate to ask on thread or message me.,

Tony

PS 13 C cloudy but dry , 18C Carol get out the factor 50 sun cream 🤣

Hi Tony, I've had the colostomy for 22 years now, they took out half my colon and the terminal ileum and the plumbing worked well all these years, but I have been having pains and strictures in what is left of the colon, and the rectum has been bleeding and messy. When I had a colonoscopy done last year they couldn't make it through the strictures, an MRI was done and the doctor wants to remove my rectum and likely what what is left of the colon. I am diagnosed as pre cancer, so they want the rectum out. For the most part the bag works well, but there are times particularly if my output gets watery I have containment breaches; no fun at all. So the thought of living with constant watery output concerns me, along with the cost. Currently I can get 6 days before I change it. I'm 64, and like you I have high blood pressure, and arthritis. Buff.
2C Sunny with a cold breeze.

2C increasing cloudiness. They are calling for a colder pattern next week, any chance for a milder spring is on hold now. They graded the roads making them much better, it should have been done weeks ago. I'll give that product a try Tony, anything to make the nights easier. I woke up to a bomb in the bag in the middle of the night as it filled right up to the max, no need to elaborate. I slept better after that. Wet snow coming this afternoon, I may not get much done.

If you can't source them locally I can send you some , I always order more than I need and I get them free over here .

12c and lovely this morning...the park over the road is greening up nicely and the birds are in full song.
Overcast this arvo and a rubbish forecast to come........hopefully "fake " news

28C, nothing like a warm summer day with the window airconditioner humming in the background. We may have had 5 days of it last summer. Summers are not what they used to be, we get a lot of cold rains now and its not uncommon for the heating to come on in July. Yesterday we had snowflurries in the afternoon while I took my walk, pretty typical for the time of year. Today will be a bit milder. I was greeted by several excited chipmunks this morning as they are coming out of hibernation, and the geese were flying north honking, a sure sign that spring is here, but summer is still away's off. Tony, I'll take a look at what's available from the medical supply site I buy my colostomy supplies from.
2C Clouds moving in. -5C overnight. Where are you Ron?

3C sunny with a chilly north wind. The surgeon's office called while I made breakfast, surgery could be as soon as early May. After some recent difficult nights, I will gladly take an earlier appointment. On the other hand there is a lot of uncertainty going forward with how I heal up. On the upside I have the whole summer ahead for healing, so I have the strength going into fall and winter. Who knows what else they may find, and when the internals hurt so bad at night it makes me wonder, and I would not be at all surprised if they do, and just hope its found early enough.

A really cold and blustery 7c with showers threatening....a short walk around the park then bum on seat with a good book.

I'm not going to say don't worry about your upcoming apt .Buff. it's the nature of the beast .but let's hope it's not as bad as it could be eh?

The ice is breaking up on the lake, it tempting to take the canoe out, but today the cold raw easterly wind is at play, and there is rain and possibly snow in the forecast. With two weeks to go there are a lot of loose ends to deal with most notably firewood. I'm just cutting and splitting, and will concern myself with piling it later. I don't want a big wood pile by the house until the majority of the fire season has passed.

houston -- we are cooking pretty good for april. forecast to hit 32C this week with sauna like humidity. today plan on exercising in the sauna for a little while - then go home and do some pushups and stuff. my pecan tree finally sprung. it's the last tree in the neighborhood to wake up from winter. didnt get any pecans last year -- the historic extreme heat and drought caused that (i assume)

Another cold biting windy day, sunny and short sharp showers....Earthquake in South Australia,4-1 on the richter scale and felt 200kms away......Also floods in Dubai due to torrential rain and airport is flooded if anyone's going today......

6c with strong easterly winds , overcast with misty rain , would be a good day for sitting by the fire in a pub but I don't drink anymore and no point going to a put if you can't have a pint , well I can dream and remember anyway

cold and miserable again...managed to get out to the shops and very glad to be home again.
I keep looking at my summer clothes with longing and those who know me know I'm really not a "summer" person, but I'm getting fed up of wearing layers and socks etc

2C Mainly cloudy and soggy. Carol I have always related to April as being the bottom of the barrel of the year, the coldest most miserable hopeless month of the year. The upside is that it can only get better going forward although its a long slow process. I like summer, but it doesn't get nice around here until mid July when the warmth builds and the worst waves of the biting flies has finally peaked.

Most people know I dislike spring the most of all seasons, it would be great if we could skip to summer and leave the cold wet mess and biting flies behind. But like bills, we have to pay for the seasons, and this is how mother nature does it. Blustery with flurries, gray 1C.

A nice day BUT a very chill wind from the north gusting along the coast....we went down to one of the little beaches on the river side and collected some drift wood for the back garden...I love driftwood and like to wonder where it came from and how long it;s been adrift....it doesn't take much to make me happy....I'm a cheap date.
I keep hoping our mate Ron is going to show up....

I understand that the European spring can be beautiful and much warmer. It went down to -5C overnight and its sitting on the freezing mark. I washed the truck yesterday and it looks so much better without looking like a filthy pig and did a supply run. I am buying extra things before surgery, a lot of heavy items I will not be able to carry post op.

It's good that you're organised and in control Buff,it makes life so much easier....
A bright day but still cold for the time of year at 7c and breezy....but like I've said before no floods (well not up here anyway) no volcanoes erupting ,no quakes or tornadoes or wild fires and no biting flies, except for midges in Scotland and ticks that is,but we don't have them here on the coast....worse we get are visitors

When it comes to good weather, its grab it while you got it. Today looks better after a wet blustery cold spell, but that won't last as there is snow in the forecast next week. The discomfort at night limits what I get done as I am not properly rested. All of this makes it easier to accept the risks of this surgery. 2C Partly cloudy with an icy breeze.

Global Warming is definitely not here in the North East of England !!!
cold and damp again.I've just put the heating on for my darling when his gets out of the pit at 9am....after I've taken his nice cup of tea in to him of course.

That's typical it gets nice and warm and then you have to turn on the heating again,
We have less than 100 lt of oil left and I'm trying hard not to buy more until October so warm jumpers and heating pads until then ,
16C and cloudy with the odd blast of 🌞

did somebody say global warming? a pic from my back yard, everything in the sky is spray, zero clouds. have many more pics of similar activity. it's pervasive around here, houston

today's weather is probably our last cool-ish weather until october. going to get outside and enjoy it :) before the cooking sets in

-1C with a fresh centimeter of snow after a warm day yesterday when we hit 15C. Pretty typical, the climate lobby claims our region as being one of the most affected by global warming. Yet nothing has changed here in the 50 years I lived in the area, the snows come and go at the same time as does the freeze thaw cycle of the lakes. If anything summers are getting cooler and wetter, and its the same wildfires year after year. What has changed is the sensationalism of weather rising fuel bills, and the great Boreal forest that has been reduced to tree farming and stumps.
The surgery is getting very real now, I got instructions for pre op, and I feel like I'll be strapping in for quite a journey.

You know we're sending good thoughts your way Buff and that's all we can do. I hope you have neighbours that will call on you
and see you OK. while you recup.......who's minding your furry housemate ?

Hey Bufford, best of luck with the pre op , hopefully you will get the go ahead and have the surgery soon , positive thoughts and prayers heading your way across the ocean .
,turned out to be a lovely day here 19C and clear skies for most.of the afternoon , spent most of it outdoors listening to the birds singing and enjoying the heat going into my bones .

Bit cooler 😎 today 14C but still nice enough to get a walk , now sitting in the garden listening to calming music and beautiful birdsong in the background, life is good for a while 🙂

A bright sunny day after going down to -10C overnight. I am running the wash and will hang it out on the line, and then later load up the cardboard, paper and other recyclables, and clean up the house. I'll miss the cat, the neighbor will come over to feed her and water the indoor plants.

Not much change here with a cold breeze off the sea...8c but with the wind chill making it fell colder......the sun is giving out some heat though in sheltered corners so there's hope for us

It was a crisp clear day yesterday, got the wash done and the house looks a whole lot better now. Nice picture of spring Tony. The pains let up enough to make me think I'm okay, only to return to the reality I need the surgery. I am going to get some more bedding in case of disasters as I do not know what to exactly expect once I am discharged and back home.

A lovely day here, sunny but still cooler than it should be for the time of year BUT I've got washing on the line.First time in weeks. It's because I make sure we go out most days and the weather has been iffy so don't want to leave it out when I can't get it in quickly.
Buff,Les could never be as organised as you are, even before dementia arrived......I've really spoilt him eh? but we are what we are,and he was always a good worker and provider, still would be if he could. It's all he talks about sometimes.

A bit warmer, but windy before the next round of rain and possibly wet snow for the weekend. I stocked up ahead of the surgery yesterday. I got plenty of apple juice for the day of the purge, the prep is no different than a colonoscopy, except for the round of antibiotics of Flagyl and Cipro.

best of luck with the prep Bufford , I think I hate that more than any procedure or operation , 10C but dull and dreary with a cold easterly wind , no interest in even going out the door

A lovely day at last.Warm and sunny with a light breeze but rain on the way tonight and.
most of tomorrow.....I agree re: prep I absolutely dread it....but I always feel good for a day or two after the event.
I would normally say I'll be thinking about you Buff but in this instance I'll pass...or try to.

The prep is the worst of all, worse I have to make the long drive on the day of the prep ( but before drinking that nuclear stuff) to the pre op consultation, so it will be a long day. Instead of coming home with a treat to eat, I'll be downing the nasty stuff. However, given the troubles down below in the boiler room so to speak I will be glad to get the surgery done, get rid of the messy rectum and hopefully the pains as well.
Typical weather for the time of year, cold raw easterly winds and rain 3C. No worries about wildfires, one could not light a match outside in these conditions.
