What is YOUR weather like today??

Crohn's Disease Forum

Help Support Crohn's Disease Forum:

It is warmer today, high should be around 25F. We're getting to the part of the year with very little daylight, so I bought a light box to help me wake up.

We only have about 6hrs daylight now.But the "shortest" day is on 21st December so we can start to look forward to springtime. hahaha.

I got my light box from Amazon for under $50, so if you have SAD or have a hard time waking up I recommend one! They are really helpful.

That's a good price, Linda. I gotta get someone to get mine out the attic. Was very sunny today, but, bloody freeezin'. Stay safe Ron. we're all thinking of you.

Weather bureau issued a dangerous weather alert for the end of the weekend and the start of next week. The inland storm cells have continued to build and are moving slowly east. An insurance spokesman yesterday estimated that the damage from last weeks storm will reach the billion mark. The mayor of Brisbane has asked residents who have debris piled on their footpaths from the last storm to shift it back into their yards and secure it as best they can so that it does not become dangerous wind blown missiles in the coming storms. Facilities have been stretched to the limit trying to clean up last weeks mess. Now we wait and see what happens. Ron.

Sounds dreadful, Ron. Hope the storms fade out and you have a cooler summer, however, that doesn't seem too likely though does it?

Sunny and cold today. Down to the low minuses in C's at the moment. I think Scottsma might see some snow next week, but we look ok down here, just some rain coming in.

Lol, Robert.

well, tis drizzly, cloudy and cold. At least I have some birds singing in the garden. Mind, I have to pay them with bird food. But they do keep me cheerful.

I wonder if there is Carol singing up in Tynemouth?

There's carol singing in the summer up here.
I like the "oldies",that's why I'm "secretly"fond of Robba.

Ic when I walked Alfie this morning, 4c now and clouding over. Snow ???

temp has gone up to 8c since my previous post.It must be cloudy but as it's dark now I can't tell. But I don't care either.

7 deg Celsius (45F) here at 8:30 pm. It rained most of the day

This time tomorrow the forecast is for -11 Celsius (12F) with a -21 (-6F) windchill. I wish it would just stay cold or stay above freezing, I hate these temperature swings.

I want snow! Xmas is coming and I want snow. I'm jealous of all of you who get snow. A real white xmas.

Come to Minnesota. we almost always have a white Christmas. But it's been mild lately and our current snow is melting. I'm not worried as I'm sure we'll get more. But if you come to visit, promise you'll shovel for me.

Omg, I can't imagine having to shovel snow right through the winter months, Linda. It must be awful. I hope you have a husband to find the energy to do it, otherwise you just wouldn't get out the house. I know I could never find the energy for that. The most I would manage is a snowman outside the front door. Then when I'm feeling lonely I could just open the door and pretend I have a visitor. That would be a winter for me and my loo.

Cold, wet and miserable.

27F and everything covered in snow and ice.Yesterday was in the upper 30'sF and it sleeted and rained all day.I'll have to chisel my way into the truck to be able to go to work today!

Fortunately, Spooky, I have a husband and son who shovel. The fines for an unshoveled sidewalk is more than I want to pay. Our neighbor sometimes shovels our sidewalk if he has time, so on the rare occasions when my husband or son are out first, they shovel for him.

Low thirties today. We have had a wild electrical storm sitting over the top of us for the past three hours. Very noisy but so far no hail, fingers crossed. It just won't move on. Somebody must have fed it. Ron.

Another mild day here. The snow from yesterday already melted off my husband's car. It should stay at or above freezing all day. However due to snow melt it will be foggy most of the day.

4F this morning.Someone want to come over and warm my truck up for me?

I've just checked and it's 4c here which is 40f so NOT as cold as I thought, although there is a wind chill.:frown:

Robert will come and give you a few good revs Dave, when he stops annoying everybody ;)

4F this morning.Someone want to come over and warm my truck up for me?

Just have Robert breathe on it, he's full of hot air. :)

Very warm 54°F here, expecting record highs this week. We usually have snow on the ground to some extent from this time of year until spring also.

Over 30000 lightning strikes in SE qld last night. Had a rumble and build up again tonight but it failed to take off ,forecast again for the next three nights. Sydney copped it the night before with damaging wind and large hail. Temps in the low thirties and 70% humidity. It is not pleasant trying to breathe water. Ron.

Was watching some footage of the other night. A bunch of teenagers were videoing the lightning. The next bolt hit a tree beside their house . Believe me the next lot of blue lights did not come from the sky. Not all learning is done at school. Ron.

Sleet turning to rain.Hovering around the freezing temp this morning and turning to all rain later on.So much for the snow. It's all white ice now.Makes the commute to work interesting.

Yet another mild, overcast day. I wish we'd get fresh snow. The snow on the ground is so dirty and everything is brown and blah.

I agree, snow covers all the nasty stuff and makes everything look clean and bright.
But I hate the melting muck,we call it slush over here.

Linda, I'm with you. I want snow, snow snow! But it's expected to get to 59° here today. ~sigh~ It's usually cold enough thru winter to avoid much slush until the spring months. ~sigh~ ~sigh~ ~sigh~

If it were to melt, it would get slushy. It is just brown and icky looking. The hoar frost has been beautiful, though.

And Sandy, I can't believe how mild it has been. Highs in the low 30s. That is unusual for us this time of year. I hope we get some fresh snow soon.

It is after 11pm in December and it is drizzling.A late December evening should not have rain...mud season is for April! The rivers, streams and lakes have no ice.

2c and sunny.I'm not complaining, but the sun is at it's lowest (nadir ?) and it shines in your eyes making things difficult out doors unless you walk on the shady side of the street where it's colder.I bet Ron wishes that's all he had to worry about. Also the window cleaner came today and I gave him extra cash for xmas. The sun is showing all the smears and streaks he left.So he's for the high jump next year.........But I'm not complaining.

Actually cool today, 25c to morrow ,by wed we will be back to mid 30's and more wild storms.

Warm. It should reach the upper 30s, well above freezing. I hate warm weather this time of year, because it inevitably gets colder, meaning the melting snow turns to ice. It is supposed to rain on Sunday then get cold again, perfect ice weather.

It is 63°F (17°C) in Salt Lake City right now. Average temp in December is usually around freezing. I hope we have a white Christmas. Doubtful, tho.

Today was a beautiful day. It snowed last night, the dogs had fresh white stuff to romp in. The temps were in the mid 30's and a mostly blue sky with sunshine. You never would have known it just rained for the last 3+ days.

I do admit that Dobby,my German Shepherd, will roll in the snow to clean herself after playing in the mud.Bruce,my 150+ pound Rotti(male)does not care if he is muddy or not.Dobby is 85 pounds fyi. Dog people seem to want to know these stats. I am in favor of fresh snow to keep my dogs clean.

36F with a dense fog advisory. Not only can't I see downtown from my window, I can barely see across the street. I can't remember when we last saw the sun! It is looking like there won't be snow on the ground here for Christmas. Luckily, there's about a foot on the ground at the cabin where we'll be!

We've already hit a record high temperature for today, it is now 48F. All the snow is melted and everything looks gross. My son, being a Minnesotan, wore a t-shirt, shorts and a sweat shirt to school.

I had a snowball fight yesterday. I got a warning from police that throwing small bottles of beverages at people is dangerous.

Bit like me most mornings Sandy... A bit dusty! Ron Gradually building to some more storms by the weekend. Ron.

As usual, rain in December is a nightmare. With the warm temperatures yesterday, we got rain. Then the temp plunged, so everything is covered in ice with fresh snow on top of that. Right now it is 22F with a "feels like" temperature of 6F.

Does your mog have a hard time going out or are her claws like spiked shoes that stop her slipping about? And, what is her name? She looks so serene in your pic there.

It is exceptionally mild this year.We keep wondering when the "bad" stuff's going to come.
Having said that, this country grinds to a halt when we get a few inches of snow.It always seems to come as a surprise to the powers that be that it snows in winter. The last two years have been more or less snow free, except for the higher ground.

If it snows in the southern United States, everything there also grinds to a halt. Here, the only time they close schools is when it is too hot or too cold. Last year, my son's school closed 6 times due to extreme cold.

A couple of days of 35 + c followed by the inevitable storms. A lot of folk in my area have used that clear and green corrugated fiberglass sheeting for roofing their patios. Cooroy a little town just north of me had a storm last night. It hailed... for 30 mins solid... and it was the size of golf balls. Most of those with patios have air conditioned patios now. It is dangerous stuff hail. I have seen a small herd of cattle killed by it and I remember being caught up a local creek crabbing. I was black and blue . I was lucky I had a cutting board to protect my head. Ron.

Cold and blowing a hoolie again. Still, only 10 more days of this to go then I hit the mainland. Weather and ferries permitting :)

Partly cloudy and -3 (27F) Wind chill is -9 (16F). We had a light dusting of snow overnight.

It looks like it will be a green Christmas although there is talk of a "disruptive Christmas Eve storm" for the east coast.

Nobody could accuse your posts of being boring Ron.:cool2:

Keep safe.

I gets a bit surreal these days , once everything was conveyed by word of mouth. Now everyone has a phone or a digital camera that doubles as a movie camera and it was quite unreal sitting in front of the tv watching ordinary people film the destruction of part of their homes and more surreal on a 36c afternoon to see the ground covered in white. Strange days indeed

Another cold, overcast day. Except for one day of partial sunshine, I think it has been at least 2 weeks without a completely sunny day.

Off and on rain today, then a couple days of sunshine, but definitely expecting a white Christmas. Can't complain.

We're at the cabin now. There was fresh snow when we arrived and we should be getting snow off and on until Christmas day. It honestly looks like a winter wonderland.
