My sort of food Ron,yum !!! Although we don't have a traditional xmas lunch.

Ron, enjoy your beach weather and seafood. We got more snow overnight. It's perfect weather as far as I'm concerned. Just below freezing, 30F and fresh packing snow.

Have a merry Christmas if you celebrate it.

A rainy Christmas Eve. We've lost most of our snow. My dad would say rain is easier to shovel. :D Merry Christmas!

We're expecting a white Christmas tomorrow, haven't had any snow this year that has stayed more than a day. Merry Christmas all!

Perfect for Christmas Day. Currently (10.30am) it is 20ºC (68ºF) and will probably get to 24º or 25º. Scattered cloud with the blue sky breaking through.

We're back home now. No snow anywhere here. But it is currently 32F/0C and we are supposed to get snow tonight, between 1-3 inches overnight.

It is still 30+c but at long last we are getting a bit of rain, All of the beach goers will be p'd off but we need the rain so badly. Ron.

Has been wet the whole Christmas break, which is a good thing. :) But cool for Summer, currently sitting on 15c.

I am visiting Boise, Idaho. It is 4pm on Friday and it is 36 degrees. It snowed on Christmas Evening....so cool. I am flying back home to Glendale, Arizona tomorrow, December 27th. Happy New Year.

Close to 11pm and it is 37F in December. Who's controlling the weather machine this week? Should be in the single digits...don't want it to be,but it would be seasonal.

It looks like winter might be back! We got about 3 inches of snow overnight with an additional inch or so falling today. It is 23F outside, with a "feels like" temperature of 10F. We're going sledding today to celebrate!

I was in Boise, Idaho last night where my sister lives. We went to an event that took place outdoors, at night. I was wearing: a shirt, a jacket, another jacket, gloves, another pair of gloves, a hat, a hood over the hat, a scarf, and a pair of sturdy winter boots with big treads on them. Wow. I think the last time I wore that many layers of clothes is when I lived in Minnesota when I was a kid. Now I am back in Phoenix, AZ. It is 49 degrees at 10pm. It is a little bit cooler here than normal, actually, with some freeze warnings at night.......but it is still nicer here than Idaho......and no snow and ice here ! Hoorah.

Well it is the height of Summer but here we sit in trackies and hoodies. :eek2:

Went to visit a mate this afternoon and what do I find at their place?…

Around 32 today in Nambour , send some of the cool my way Dusty, I think I saw Perth was heading for 39 either tomorrow or the next day. We were supposed to get some rain but it stopped pretty well at the nsw border. Such is life , Ron.

Perth can be quite hot in the summer, although it is cooler in winter than the north of Australia. I am in Victoria, which is generally milder although we can have a few days over 40ºC (104F) in summer.

I was in Perth one Christmas and it was 42c. In the local wildlife park they were hosing the Parrots and Parakeets with cold water, as they were gaping their beaks in the heat.
I asked if they would hose me too,but health and safety wouldn't allow it........And why would they waste precious water on a whinging "Pom" ??? hahaha.

Bright and cold here.Low sunshine is annoying though........Parts of the country ground to a halt yesterday after 2-4 inches of snow,( I'm embarrassed to admit)

I find it crazy when places that regularly get snow can't deal with it. When all was said and done, we got 6 inches of snow yesterday but nothing stopped. We went to my sister's house to go sledding. We had to stop to get a new sled and Target was packed, snow and all.

Today is partly sunny and cold.

THAT'S why I'm embarrassed Linda. There were cars abandoned at the sides of the roads, can you believe it ?

Which is probably a GOOD thing,if people are unable to drive in so little snow.:ywow:

I grew up in Minnesota and NOTHING stopped because of the snow. Minnesota people are the strongest folks ever and nothing stops them....rain, snow, heat, mosquitos. It snowed 15 inches one evening and I still tried to go to work ( I took buses to work). You would never, ever think of calling in sick because of the weather ! But it just so happened on this one ocassinon the buses could not get through the snow so, I walked the three blocks back home to my apartment. At least I TRIED to get to work.

My sister lives in Boise, Idaho and there are no snow plows there even though it snows. Crazy. So, when it snows a little bit there you are driving on icy roads.

It's snowing here, and the plows are out. I laughed at my sister's small town in Arizona that closed the schools when they had one inch of snow. :rof:

3C (37F) here tonight going down to -3 C (27F) overnight

Looks like we are in for some cold weather later this week -16C (3F) is forecast for Wednesday night.

No snow on the ground here yet and none in the forecast for the next few days.

1pm and temp has risen to 3c.Very sunny and bright again, but frost where the sun hasn't reached. Double figures and rain forecast for the middle of the week and beyond.

~Frost on the ground still, and the poor birds can't get their beaks into the grass for a worm or two. Guess which idiot spends loads of money on extra food for them?
gonna be -7C tonight.

You're not alone Diane,we spend a small fortune too.
But they need all the help they can get, don't they ?
We have to be disciplined though. We have a park over the road,so once the locals have had their quota, that's it.We find different species come at different times of the morning. We also have a pair of gulls who have nested on the house opposite for at least 15-18yrs.They're partial to chicken skin and meat trimmings.

It's cold here. This morning walking out to the car the inside of my nose froze. First time that's happened since last winter. Right now it is 6F with a "feels like" temperature of -9F. At least it's sunny out.

They have forecast 32-33c for the rest of the week. It is very hard to sleep. I have well and truly mastered the cpap machine now. I get to sleep easily despite the heat. The trouble is that now that I am sleeping well I wake up at three thirty and can't get back to sleep, obviously my body has had enough. The pendulum never stops in the middle always at one extreme or the other.I might have to go fishing 3.30 is a good time to go:) Ron.

10°F (-12°C) right now with feels like temp of -13°F (-25°C). A storm blowing in is bringing very high winds (around 75 mph). It has been howling all night and expected to continue for awhile. Better batten down the hatches! High wind, wind chill, and avalanche warnings are all out. They just found several hours ago a local missing snowmobiler who survived (with only some minor frostbite) two nights in temps not much warmer than this after getting disoriented in the snow in our mountain areas. He survived by making himself a temporary shelter. Good thing he isn't out in it now tho with the wind blowing everything around!

Sunny and some frost left from yesterday, just put the heating on, so it's not so bad. Nothing like in Utah/Minnesota, or Australia of course.

the birds are worth feeding for the entertainment value. I bet they wish they had shoes with the frost on the lawn.

P.S.I lived thru the worst of it, and the toilet bowl water quit shaking! I used to love a good wind storm until three years ago when we lost half of our roof, down to the wallboard ceiling, part of the roof trusses ending up several houses away and part hitting our vehicle. The house hit the vehicle, not the other way around.
:eek::eek::eek:
Excuse my vent while a little PTSD surfaced.
All better now.:drink:

Bitter cold with a wind chill advisory. Right now it is -4F, with a feels like -19. Normal weather for Minnesota at this time of year.

Wow, Sandy, that's horrific weather. Talk about being at the mercy of weather. It's cold today but it should be in double figures, 10C for our new years eve.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU.

I am always a little surprised when I wake up alive on new years day. It's going to be around 31c today. Same crap different year.... Ron.

I grew up in Minneapolis, so I get it ! Moved to Arizona when I was 12. But went back to Minneapolis for two years when I was 22 years old. I had to take three buses to one of my temp jobs, talk about wind chill ! I thought my legs would turn into icicles. I can back to Arizona when I was 24 and I am still here.

Okay, I have no reason to complain, but, it is 43 degrees in Glendale, Arizona right now and it is December 31st at 5pm. This is unusually cold for us, plus it rained today too ! We have a freeze advisory for the evenings. But one week from now we are supposed to have a high temperature of 74 degrees, and sunny. Weird.

That does seem like freaky weather, Ann. The wind has got up and it's wet out, but 13C so not too much to complain about.

Hope, like me, you are hangover free.

Another humid 31c day even the sharks are getting cranky, unfortunately two people killed in the past fortnight, one off cairns one in southern western Australia. They are going to have to grow legs before they get me. Very sad for the families involved as they were both young spearfishermen. Ron.

Ron: Don't Give Up !

I feel the same way though.
Every morning when I wake up I say to myself, "bummer", I am still here.

As long as I have hope I know that things will someday get better.
Don't lose hope. :rosette1:

Well, I WISH I could drink alcohol, but I have acid reflux and that does not allow me to drink alcohol. If I drink alcohol with the acid reflux I would get sick. :ack:

39ºC (102ºF) predicted here for today (it's already 36ºC) and 41ºC (105ºF) for tomorrow. The fire season has well and truly arrived!

Stay safe Susan, I see it is 42c in south Australia today and it should come your way tomorrow. they did say you will get a cooler change by tomorrow afternoon. I sincerely hope no idiots start any fires this year. We are 31 today with a lot of humidity. If I try anything active I melt in a puddle of sweat. C'mon winter. Ron.

Thanks, Ron. Only one really active fire in Victoria at the moment. It's in the Ararat area and has just been downgraded to Watch and Act. Tomorrow, unfortunately, looks like being hotter! The cool change is predicted to get to me at about 6pm.

Then there should be a few cooler days before it starts getting hot again.

Beautifully sunny today, 20C indoors with no heating. That's what I call a good January day. I'm sorry many of you are suffering with higher temperatures and mighty cold ones too.

High temperatures - 34ºC (93ºF) already here and hotter to the north - with very strong gusty winds = a recipe for bad bushfires! Temperature of 42º predicted for here later in the day.

Only 29c today where I live in Queensland. There are warnings for catastrophic fire conditions in South Australia, Victoria , Tasmania and parts of south west NSW. Temps are in the high thirties and low forties in those areas . I hope they remain safe. Ron.

Around five or six properties confirmed destroyed in the Adelaide hills today. Fire service suspects that there may be dozens of homes gone already. Never heard the fireies so despondent. One spokesman today said that no fire department on earth could have gotten the fires under control today with 42 c temps and howling winds they could not even start to deal with them. They say that the fires are as bad as ash Wednesday over thirty years ago when 28 south Australians died. At least the people are safe this time tho several fire fighters are injured. It is a crazy country, part of Queensland flooded today after torrential rains overnight. Go figure. Ron.

15F and 5'' of snow expected today. Wind bringing temps down significantly. The snow would be nice,no wind please. I think I will sit by the wood stove and check out the Forum this chilly morn.

dave13, the snow is headed our way later.

Mostly sunny and -12C(10F) with a -22C (-1F) windchill. Might head out to take the outdoor Christmas lights down after I deal with taking the tree down.

Today is very mild, with temperatures just below freezing. Tomorrow, however, the high temperature is predicted to be -1F.

Cooler conditions in SA today, twelve homes confirmed destroyed and fears for twenty others, twenty two firefighters injured tho none seriously and one fire truck totally destroyed at the height of the crises yesterday. It is hard to imagine what it takes to go in to fight fires when everything is crazy and even the air seems to catch fire. I take my hat off to the rural firebrigades , not just here in Australia but all over the world. Like our beach life savers these men and women are all volunteers and they do an extraordinary job just to help their neighbours. Ron.

A combination of snow and ice pellets, it has been snowing since midnight - not sure how much snow we received, and -3C (27F) with a -10C (14F) windchill.

The temperature is forecast to increase so the snow will transition to freezing rain and rain. Time to clean the driveway and steps before it gets too heavy.

Right now it is -2F with a wind chill of -23F. Ah, January, how you always seems to freeze my butt off!

Right now it is -2F with a wind chill of -23F. Ah, January, how you always seems to freeze my butt off!

But isn't there a "January thaw"

The snow has stopped here, we ended up with about 15-20 cm (7 inches) of light fluffy snow.

-23f......... Now THAT'S cold. brrrrrrrr !!!

We haven't got the heating on yet,and it's almost dusk.I might put it on before we take the dog out though.Nice to come back to.:ysmile:

Beautiful full moon over the sea, while walking Alfie.

The first meteor shower of 2015 is due between 2 and 5am,but we may not see it because of the moon.Oh,well. I won't bother with the alarm then.

Sometimes we get a thaw, but honestly, I'd prefer to skip it. A thaw always results in ice afterwards. This isn't that cold. It isn't cold enough to close school. No matter how much my son wants school closed.

We might be having our January thaw now. It's raining after the snow storm and is forecast to warm up to 6C (43F) tonight before falling to -20C (-4F) tomorrow night.

Heating up again down south also up in Queensland . Heading for around 33-36 by Saturday. Even higher temps down in south Oz and Victoria. At last count there are 29 homes gone in the Adelaide foothills. No human deaths. There has been an horrific loss of life with stock and native wildlife . Wildlife carers who moved into the burnt areas today found almost 100% loss in native species. The heat was bad to start with . The fire took most of the oxygen so the poor little buggers were smothered before they were burned. Very few of the animals found alive will survive. Many Christmas holiday makers had put their pets in the safety of a pet hotel in the worst of the fire area . Only one of the sheds was saved. There are a lot of people mourning beloved pets. There is no hope in fires. In floods at least some survive, the lucky ones . In fires the lucky ones go quickly. It is amazing that Australians can love such a country so much. I know that it is no different any where in the world. Nature has devised many and varied ways to get rid of humans. Keep warm my northern hemisphere friends and we in turn will try to stay cool. Sorry to ramble on so much but sometimes we forget our own fragile hold on life and the sum total of all of the things you have seen in a lifetime catch up with you and make you really sad. Here is hoping tomorrow is better.... Ron.

Frosty start but another really beautiful, calm, and sunny day.
Wind and rain forecast for the next couple of days, but with a rise in temps.

thoroughly overcast today. No rain, wind or sunshine. Not too cold either.

Am thinking of all those animals over in OZ. It's been on our news a lot lately. Stay safe.
-45C isn't good either. I am grateful we just don't have the extremes.

A clarty dreich day here, hoping for some snow before the winters out.

What does "clarty dreich" mean? Just wondering.

January continues here in Minnesota, right now it is -11F with a wind chill of -22F. Not as bad as your weather, Pilgrim. Stay warm!
