What is YOUR weather like today??

I'll answer for Grotbags if she doesn't mind, although we are a few miles south over the Border. Dreich is Scots for damp, drizzley miserable. And clarty is muddy underfoot.
We also use clarty and clarts in the North East of England.

Sometimes on other threads, I'm not understood because I tend to forget this forum is predominately American. But even other Brits can't understand me at times.hahaha

An almost ordinary January day here. A little overcast, but a slight bit warmer than normal. (40°F or around 4 or 5° Celsius).

6c.Bright start, put the washing out.10 minutes later ,dark clouds, took the washing in.

Bright and sunny now,I've put the washing out, again !!!

It isn't too bad here right now, but tomorrow is supposed to be very cold, around -45F windchills. Some of the schools are already closed for tomorrow. My son keeps checking to see if he's off or not.

7c,beautiful amber sunrise but cloudy now.Gales and rain forecast for the next few days.......... and so it begins !!!

0.1F this morning. Suppose to have -11F by the afternoon and that is without windchill. This evening is -23F or so they predict.I won't mind if they err on the prediction.Br,r,r,r,r...The wood stove has been hungry these last few days!

Well, my son is NOT happy. His school district was one of the handful of districts that didn't close today. I guess they were right, as the wind chill is only -32F. But that means indoor recess, which is no fun. The air temp is -8F. Our high today should only get to -4F.

I will spend the day looking at pictures of the Caribbean, I think.:ycool:

Wishing I'd walked Daisy earlier, it's now cowping down with rain....bum.
Oh, no, tell a lie, it's now sunny with blue skies.
It's perfectly true about the Scottish weather having four seasons in one day, even us natives can't keep up with it !.

The temp is -11F this morning, without the windchill factored in.I'm thankful it isn't as cold as was predicted.

Linda,is this where you tell your son "when I walked to school it was -40F and it was uphill both there and back.Did you hear us complain? Hell,no! and I had to carry (insert sibling name here) on my back as well." :ylol2:

Thirty c till mid week then going to 35-37c. Suspicious tropical low starting to spin up in the coral sea. Could be the first east coast cyclone of the season. we will know by weeks end. Ron.

Warmer here today, right now it is 6F. Of course with the warmer temperature comes snow.

I didn't grow up in Minnesota, so he knows I can't make these claims. Plus we drive him to school everyday, so he doesn't complain except he wanted the day off.

Well. what was supposed to be just some light snow today turned out into about 4-5 inches. It was practically white out conditions when I went to get my son from school. The roads have a layer of ice under the snow. I'm home now and don't plan to go out again until tomorrow!

Linda I felt heaps cooler just watching your weather on tv. When you see people in hot conditions on tv , they look pretty normal. The shots they showed of people outside in a blizzard they looked anything but normal, please stay safe in the cold. Ron.

Jings crivens and help ma boab !....I'm amazed our house didn't take off last night, what a wind !...and no it wasn't me :ytongue:
Bit calmer today, but a raw wind, and supposed to rain later on.

Just heard that further north, they had wind speeds of 113 mph, strongest winds that have ever been recorded in Scotland.
Bet that's peanuts to some of you guys in Canada.

Windy night here too,2hrs sleep due to that and steroids.

10c,and windy.I'd put the washing out but I might not see it again !!!

Oh hell, steroids are the worst for keeping you awake.
Last time I was on them I was getting up at 5am and baking !.
It was better than lying in bed and getting annoyed.
Fresh bread and biscuits for breakfast :thumleft:

I was actually thinking of getting up at 2-30am and preparing lunch hahaha.Trying not to nap so I'll maybe sleep tonight.

More gales on the way tonight and colder temps. and wintry showers tomorrow......Sighhhhh !!!

I only ever got 2 hours a night on steroids. I hated that. I really was a grouchy cow the whole time. Never again.

Just went over to Tintagel to see mum, fog the whole way, rain, raging winds (god knows how it was up in Scotland), and flooded lanes. Needless to say I came home whilst it was still light. I just didn't fancy such driving conditions in the dark.

Stay safe all.

I spent 18 months on 75 mg daily of prednisone. I had 48 sessions of chemo over a year for colon cancer. The chemo was a breeze compared to prednisone. Bad bad bad stuff steroids. put me into osteo-perosis and type two diabetes. Funny that we are insanely human enough to complain about the weather. I really love you guys and girls. Ron.

The sleep wasn't that great the last few times I took steroids for a flare.

Had the whole gamut of weather here today - snow, wind and rain with here today with a bit of thunder and lightning this morning. Later in the day on the way home from work, the sun was trying to come out. We ended up with about 10 cm (4 inches) of new snow

Ten thirty in the evening and the thermometer on top of my speaker still reads 36c. Another unpleasant night for sleeping.. Ron.

My son in Kalgoorlie has been on the phone and he burnt his feet going out for the post this morning. I didn't bring him up to be so daft, the heat must have turned his brain to mush......:dance::dance:

9F,blue skies and no wind.It is a beautiful morning.Four or so inches of fresh snow...happy dogs! They are waiting for me to get off the forum and take them for a walk in the woods or down to the lake for some ice fishing.(no,I don't mean fishing for ice :))

Had a quick walk with" unsteady eddie" between showers.
Snowdrops are out and crocus, daffodils and bluebells looking promising.

Very chilly wind though:eek:

What??? You got snowdrops before us here in Cornwall? I'm so jealous. I got a yellow crocus on its way to blooming, snowdrops are coming up and I saw a row of daffodils when off to mums.

I'd give you a hug Ron due to the night temperatures but that might be a bit kinky seeing that you are probably in bed.

Great photo of the snow Hawkeye, and I'm jealous of you, Grotbags.

Sunny here in Cornwall today, a tad cold though, but only 16.5C so I'd best not complain.

The only way I will see a bloom this time of year is to go to a nursery(greenhouse). I do have a nice Christmas cactus that has bright red flowers and I force some bulbs indoors, but,I digress.

9F,no wind and looks like it may be a pleasant day shaping up.I'll take the dogs for a nice walk before work.

Thanks spooky but that would probably raise my temp. the heat is getting too me I am having some sort of a flare ,trouble is I don't know if it's nephrotic syndrome, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis ,type two diabetes or peripheral neuropathy. I saw my gp and he knew I was in trouble just looking at me.He actually asked me if I was flaring. I feel like I am being microwaved.
Scottsma things are heating up in WA ,there is a huge bushfire to the north of Perth that has them really worried . I hope it does not head south.
We now have three lows sitting off the Queensland coast and any of them can turn into a cyclone..Ron.

It is mild here for January. 10F with a wind chill of -2F. My husband and son are in Green Bay, Wisconsin for the Green Bay Packers game, and it is warm there. 24F with no wind chill. They completely lucked out!

Still no cyclone, thats good, fires in wa were downgraded to wait and watch this morning. Good again. This evening the wind changed in WA and the fire warning has been raised to the highest state ,severe threat to life and property act immediately to threat. that really is not good. I suspect my flare has come from our Australian Christmas habits. I have been eating prawns non stop for the past two weeks. For most of my family prawns=gout. I don't get gout but I have taken allopurinol for thirty years to lower my uric acid levels. We have had a glut of cheap Moreton bay school prawns. The sweetest most succulent little prawn in the world. I have been addicted to them since I was a kid so I have been pigging out. Prawns=purines, purines= uric acid. Uric acid=a huge flare . No wonder I feel like I have been microwaved , I am brim full of uric acid . How easy we forget.. No more prawns siigghhh. Life is unfair.. Ron.

Our son was diagnosed with gout a couple of months ago.......VERY painful !!! I'm going to warn him about the prawns.

Very mild here today, lots of sunshine, but VERY windy.

Yes any of the shellfish. any of the offals quite a few fruits , avacados and veges , asparagus are high in purines and can trigger a gout attack. I watched my dad suffer from gout for years. Mind you he never avoided anything that caused it in his life. He was obviously willing to pay the price. Not me I'll behave I really don't enjoy feeling like I am about to catch on fire. Ron.

I empathize with the no broiler, because our gas furnace went out, completely died on the 8th, and the installation for the new one isn't until tomorrow. However, I've been surprised at how much two space heaters have kept us warm. Interesting bit of tidbit about shellfish and uric acid. I had my first little bit of lobster (my fav) in years yesterday (too expensive to have fresh stuff flown inland and we are definitely inland.)
Oh, the weather? It has been around 30° for several days with an occasional smattering, skiff, dusting of snow (whatever you want to call it.) Furnace and party tomorrow. All invited!

Awaiting winds again, oh and rain. Nice thunder and hail last night though. Am envious of the snow, Grot. How far can you throw a snowball?

Well all of the potential nasties have drifted off into the coral sea and pose no more threats. The temps are on the rise again , 35c expected on sat 33 today and I'm a grandpa for the second time ,little girl Asha Faith. Ron.

It was really warm here today, up to 22F! It might even get warmer tomorrow, maybe even break the freezing mark.

Congratulations Ron and family, and what a beautiful name:rosette1:

Windy,showery,5c. Warnings of severe weather on the way,but that means severe for Britain.Which amounts to being unprepared for 4ins. of snow as usual.

I haven't got a clue what it is doing outside, I boroughed myself in my house with our new furnace, got some housework done, read a little, a little tv (don't usually watch tv in the day), and didn't even open the draperies. I think it's 70° (at least in here):ylol:

was sunny this morning, but it just vanished. The wind has died too, thank god. expecting very cold weather (but not US cold) and some snow. Whoopeee, shall make my own snowball.

Six past eleven Friday night. Looking at the thermometer on top of the computer . 38c how in the world will I get to sleep with that. The perspiration is running off me. I have not felt comfortable for weeks in fact months. I am over it.

Put some wet (wrung out) towels in a plastic bag in the freezer, for a while, then put one around your kneck or wherever else needs it.Put a few in at a time and rotate them.

Blue sky, and that peculiar big round glowing object is back in the sky again.
No wind, no rain, those Atlantic storms have finally bogged off :thumleft:
It's a pretty nice day .

Let's switch places Grotbags. I could go for a nice day on the Scottish coast. The temp here is -5F with a strong wind bringing temps to the -20'sF through out the day. I like your side of the Atlantic better.

Dave, that is typical January weather here, but we're having late February weather. It's currently 26F, and should get up to around 37F.

-16C with a windchill of -26C; a cold day. The only outside activity was walking between the car and Costco and the car and the grocery store. The temperatures will increase to above freezing tomorrow and Monday.

My unit has been hovering between 35-38c for a week . Sometimes I feel like I will not survive this summer. I just can't get comfortable at all. There will be more coming our way soon as it was 44c over in Kalgoolie yesterday. Crappy days. Ron.

+1C with a wind chill of -6C. A mix of light snow and rain is forecast for today and tomorrow's forecast calls for rain and 7C

Scott was on the phone earlier and reported same.He picked up a plastic bucket out the back, and the handle came off like soft chewing gum :eek2:

It's a HORRIBLE day here,Cold, very wet and sleety. Come on over Ron.!!!

Ah, do you wish you were in Australia now, Carol?

Sunny all day, no rain, just bloody freezing.

I'd NEVER want to go back to OZ. I wish my son and his kids would come back to the UK,but that won't happen. The kids were born there.:cool2:

This weather would be a shock to them.:eek::eek2:

He has been talking about bringing the two oldest over in early summer, which is the best time of year,Hopefully.

Cloudy and +2 C. Rain mixed with snow is forecast this afternoon, which will change to rain and back to snow. Ten centimeters (4 inches) of snow and 25 millimeters (1 inch) of rain on the way by this time tomorrow.

No way !, I've read Stephen King books, all your houses are haunted and your pets come back from the dead ! :hallo3:

Another nice day here, brass monkeys though, but at least it means the mud is frozen.

Temps rising to 33 today. Hope we don't get any of the warm air moving across the north west of Australia and into the Northern territory. Temps over there may reach 50 c today. Now that is hot. Ron.
