What is YOUR weather like today??

My sister has RA and I believe she takes methotrexate and Prednisone. She gets burned easily. She always wears sunscreen. I think she recently had something done with a basal cell ? She had something removed from underneath her eye once. She does not talk much about all of her health issues, which is the opposite of me.......I am always complaining all of the time ! I don't know how good the doctors are in Boise, Idaho but I told her that if she wanted a second opinion on anything she should do it here. I live in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area and we have a lot more people living here than in Boise. We have a lot of good doctors here and hospitals. She and her husband just retired last year and will be spending 3-4 months here every winter.

I have to admit that I never wear sunscreen and I live in Arizona. But honestly I rarely spend any time outside because of the heat. Only sun I get is when I run errands or go to the doctors office.

I will start by buying some good sunscreen and buying an umbrella.

Take Care.:ghug:

Hmmm just changed my mind about flying north for your summer. It appears I can get similar weather at home 16-22c today. Ron.

Winter here in perth, Western Australia and I have blue skies and 20c loving it!!!!

My son's arriving from Perth/Kalgoorlie on Thursday,so our summer "Heat"
won't be too noticeable to him :ylol2: He has gone soft since he moved over there 16yrs ago.

16c and clouding over now.

He has not gone soft , the correct term is melted. We have a term for English visitors in the middle of summer. We call them puddles. Don't worry your son will solidify when he hits your summer temps. :) Ron.

:rof::rof::rof: Yes Ron,I was the biggest puddle you ever saw when we visited.

I still haven't recovered nor forgotten it,and the last time was nov/dec.2004.:eek2:

Sunny and hot is the forecast here highs at 95 degrees Fahrenheit, suppose to be around 100 for the next few days.

We got 16-22c here tomorrow and we got the same rain band as Ang. We have had misty rain for days.. Ron.

Finally someone who can understand my weather ?

It is 109 degrees at 7:50pm in Glendale, Arizona. It is going to be 115 degrees for a high on Friday. I have lived here for many years, but I am still amazed when it is THAT hot !:ywow:

I actually lived for a year myself in Arizona, but in a milder climate area than you (Safford/Thatcher area - still too hot). Also, I understand southern Utah made it up to 106° yesterday. And in my growing up and younger years I did a lot of roughing it/camping in hot desert areas with 100° +. Now, I'm a wimp at 80°.
It's too hot again today, going to have highs in the nineties.
Done complaining.

Slept terrible last night...A/C and two fans running...still couldn't get the house below 76. Can't sleep good unless my bedroom is cool, feel like I have hot flashes all night otherwise. Yuck!

I know that this is a weather "thread" but I love your bee picture ! It is just a happy picture to look at !

High of 114 degrees today, and I was stupid enough to go out at 2:30pm to go to the grocery store. :eek2:

It's weird, but my body seems to know when it gets to be over 78 degrees, inside or outside. I just feel hot.

I was dog-sitting in Idaho for my niece a few years ago during the summer and I had her air conditioner temperature set at probably 72 degrees. Well, one day the air conditioner quit working ! :yfaint: ( Probably because of me ? ). My niece always had the temperature way higher than what I set it at. Anyhow, my brother-in-law had to call the repair guy to come and fix the air conditioner. Luckily there was only a small, inexpensive part to replace. :emot-dance:

We had 22c yesterday from a 9c start. I spent the day on the Maroochy river fishing. It was a struggle. It is a bit sad when you are no longer able to do the things you love because you are never well. I had to sit at the boat ramp when I got back and repair an electric winch cable which somehow got busted just hanging in the back of the canopy. Then when I was winching the boat out I had to go to the aid of the guy beside me. It was really windy and he could not handle his boat, He was only three months out from open heart surgery and had a pacemaker defib in his chest . I wasn't in much better nick but I figured I better help . He was really ugly and there was no way I was going to give him mouth to mouth. We got our boats out and had a nice chat. It's funny how adversity leads to friendship. PS I got a nice feed of fresh fish as well. Ron.

Thanks but Trev has got it worse in his part of the country. Our roads are just falling apart down here. Whanganui has declared a state of emergency. That's a couple of hours from Trev's.

Cool and sunny. Lots of tourists enjoying the winter sun including all the whales swimming past us at the moment, swimming up to Hervey bay to calf. The whale watching boats are full of tourists every trip. It never gets old seeing whales. Ron.

I would absolutely love to see a whale some day. I guess we have to get to the ocean first, but ~sigh~, it's been years. Soon, tho, I'm determined. (We live to far inland.)
We had the hottest day of the year so far, almost 100° here near Salt Lake City, southern Utah well over 100°. I'm still melting.

We went whale watching and dolphin watching in Aus.,Best bit of the hols by far.We have also been fortunate to see dolphins on numerous occasions while in Scotland.....One of the most memorable being a pod playing catch with a huge salmon. We were alone in a remote part of western Scotland which made it special. They were very close to the beach, and I was quite emotional.

Grey, cool and drizzly. Feels like Autumn,so it must be summer :lol2:

I hope we can curb our destructive talents in the near future so that our great grand children have the opportunity to also enjoy some of the wonders we have seen. I hate to think that some of the most incredible animals the world has ever seen only live on in film. We have a duty to those that remain. Ron.

Trust me with male menopause the last thing I need is a sweater. I am still exhausted from going fishing two weeks ago. I am dreading the upcoming El nino summer. Ron :(

Warm,breezy.........Heatwave on the way this week,Ron will laugh at what passes for a heatwave in the UK !!!

Have you discarded your thermals yet Spooky ?

It was 103° here today with temps similar expected throughout the next week. The only redeeming grace is that ours is a dry heat.

Mild 18c and overcast, thank goodness.Hubs got the fans out of the loft for later in the week,or there's no cooking. The sun blazes into the kitchen window, and despite having blackout blinds it gets a tad warm.

Bikini on for me. well not really but skimpy clothes and off with the thermal vest for the first time. Loving it apart from the pain in my eye from the light due to Iritis. Sunglasses are in order I think.

Lovely out. Time to sort the garden a little at a time if poss. probably between loo breaks

I don't have a garden ( I live in an apartment) but my sister in Idaho has a backyard full of garden projects that she truly enjoys. It is a lot of work for her to maintain, but it brings her much joy. She loves her backyard garden retreat.

Why is it so hot this year ! Every day here in Arizona where I live it is 110 degrees. My sister lives in Idaho and it was 107 degrees there the other day ! My sister moved to Idaho many years ago and she did not have air conditioning in her house for YEARS ! Her house was built in 1941. When she DID finally get an air conditioning unit at her house she couldn't believe that she and her husband had lived all those years being miserably hot every summer. They love their air conditioner now and are living nice and cool inside of their house.

We have floods [emoji47][emoji98][emoji97][emoji299]️

Sorry about your floods ! They can be really dangerous too. Our rainy season is coming here soon to Arizona. The ground here is hard, so when it rains the ground doesn't want to soak up the rain.....which means the dry washes become raging rivers.

Well we are right into winter here. Temps are 11 -22c today and believe it or not they think a tropical cyclone is forming up near the Solomon Islands. I am 65 and I cannot remember ever seeing a cyclone form as late as july it just does not happen. I have a feeling that we are in for some nasty surprises in world weather. Ron.

Cyclone Rachel formed out near the Solomon islands today. It is the first july cyclone recorded by the met bureau. We have had the hottest first six months of any year on record and one of the driest. We have been getting constant showers in the far south east of Queensland but the rest of the state remains in drought. Wearing a holter monitor to bed tonight and had an echo cardio this morning , just routine checks on my funny heart beat. If I didn't see doctors I probably wouldn't talk to anyone. Ron.

Some hazy sunshine here near Oxford. And it's a silly 32 degrees C. I shall be staying inside an air conditioned office for as long as possible.

We had a thunderstorm 2pm yesterday afternoon and one spot on the coast reported 28c ...crazy happenings for mid winter.. Ron.

Seems like we're having the same weather Ron,we had a couple more thunderstorms during the night. The afternoon one brought hailstones the size of golf balls and lightening struck a house and burned through the roof. That was about 8mls up river, near Newcastle. No casualties luckily, just the roof and a few dented cars and broken greenhouses.More on the way.....

We had the hottest June on record and July we usually only average about 1/2 inch of rain. I know how you feel on the Holter monitor, I just wore a cardio monitor for four weeks  (had never heard of anyone being tested that long before), plus had an EKG and echocardiogram. I won't know all the results until the 9th and am extra anxious. Doctors and physical therapists seem to be my social life too (but I do have my honey/hubby to hear all my gripes.)
Today we are getting out of the heat by taking me and my oxygen tanks (sigh) into some nearby high mountain elevations (Uintah mountains, about 9500 ft above sea level) to do some lake fishing. Yay! Should be about 20° cooler.

Oh,that sounds great Sandy,I'm sure Ron would love it too.Yesterday was the hottest day for a decade here and it feels just as bad today.Enjoy the cool mountain air ......Sigh !!!

Sandy a remote lake might be a good place if they didn't let you have a shower for four weeks. I can barely make it a day without one:) I'm not anti doctor but since cancer seventeen years ago I have been tested for so many different problems and have not been successfully diagnosed for any of them. I have had three kidney biopsies for nephrotic syndrome and my diagnoses is still an auto-immune disease of unknown type and cause, prognosis unknown. Same with the heart . I have around eleven thousand strange beats a day . They have wired me from cakehole to breakfast time and still can't tell me what's going on. If it were not for boards like this and mates like you all and discussions about the weather I would be a basket case. Hugs Ron.

Sorry to hear about your heart, but that trip to the mountains sounds fantastic !

Very pleasant 21c-25c with a gentle breeze. We've had a nice walk around the coast, but over the river from us.It's only a stones throw, but we have to drive through the Tyne Tunnel under the river.Either that or drive to Newcastle and over the bridge, which is a round trip of about 20mls. The Newcastle bridges are recognised the world over, and it's all very modern and upmarket and spacious. There's also a passenger ferry 15mins walking distance from home. But the tunnels quicker...........

Had a pleasant, cool temp day at Trial Lake yesterday, elevation 9500 ft above sea level, Mt. Baldy as a backdrop. If you look closely enough, a corner of my fishing pole is in the corner. Today, I'm melting again.
