What is YOUR weather like today??

Well, I'm thinking I might have one hefty gas bill this quarter. Unfortunate, but I need to keep warm. It's difficult when you're skinny and unwell. I so feel the cold. Gonna do a house exchange with Ron down under, methinks.

ye spooky skinny n cold dont go together well... good idea on the swap with ron, do you want company :lol2:

Yep, i'll probably fit in your suitcase saving myself a hefty flight fee. Ron can stay here and look after the goldfish in the pond (no fishing allowed).

To a fat hot Aussie that sounds like a good deal. It was hot enough in bed last night that I couldn't even stand a sheet over me. So to make matters worse I had a meltdown of a night sweat. At least I cooled down as that evaporated. Ron.

Gorgeous sunny hot day here on the Gold Coast suppose to be 30°c where I live it's past it [emoji2]

30c plus expected before a cooler change next Saturday. Starting to think about moving a fan or cooler back into the bedroom. One of the benefits of living alone . It will only annoy me. Ron.

Hot here today. If it had gone up one degree to 35ºC, it would have been the hottest October day since records here began in the 1850s - and it's only five days into October. We had our first bush fire this season in the area where I live - one house lost but, fortunately, no loss of life.

They are predicting a "Godzilla El Nino" weather event - more heatwaves and heightened bushfire risk this summer. Melbourne was 16 degrees above the average today.

Hugs Susan, I am not looking forward to this summer one little bit. We had a hot night and into the thirties for the rest of the week. It is unusual to be losing houses to bushfires at this time of the year , we had a major bushfire up near Townsville this week with some property destroyed. What will happen when summer really hits. We may have to take Carols suggestion and all move back to England. Ron.ps Stay safe.

From the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission) yesterday: "Melbourne has never reached 35 degrees in the first week of October since records began in the 1850s."

Well, it has now - 35.7°C @ 1.50pm today - and this is after the coldest winter in Melbourne in 26 years.

Hi neelsmith welcome.. Blimey it is hot in oz, its about 10c here n grey overcast today uck, i like sun n heat , maybe not quite your heat tho lol . Best wishes ...

It is funny (not really) but the southern half of Australia has the habit of producing longer runs of extreme temperatures that up here in the tropics, I think hot winds from the north, off the centre of the continent, have a lot to do with it. Up here in Queensland the temperatures are moderated by the prevailing south easterly trade winds off the sea. Sea temps will be up with Elnino so it won't help as much this year. I really don't like the heat. I find it very difficult to get quality sleep on hot nights and I am not in a position to use air conditioning. Fans and evaporative coolers just seem to move hot air around. I guess I am just going to have to grin and bear it. It is hot tonight. Ron.

It rained cats and dogs this morning, and has cleared up mostly now. For a change, our basement didn't flood. I think adding a window well cover and a little extra earth around the foundation did the trick, hooray!

I know how you feel Sandy , I get flooded two to three times a year every year. It is not only annoying but expensive, every time I flood something has to get chucked out. Hope your preventative measures keep working. Ron.

Lots of nasty bushfires all over the country. It does not look good for Victoria starting this early and we have a big fire raging to the west of us up on the range near Toowoomba. They had to call in water bombers overnight. At least we are getting a reprieve from the heat for a few days with a cool southerly change. They are even expecting some showers to accompany them. A bit of rain would be nice. Ron.

Having a bad week. Saw my neph . He has put my fluctuating blood pressure down to pain from opiod induced hyperalgesia. In other words the oxycodone they have had me on for over 18 months is now causing more pain than it stopped. I have to start withdrawel next week. Up to 16 weeks of slowly reducing doses of Targin. I spoke to a chemist and he just said you are not going to enjoy this. To make matters worse my nephrologist has put me on Naprosyn the nsaid that they think caused a lot of my kidney problems. He just said you are going to need something for pain . He is doing bloods every two weeks to see if it is doing more damage . I asked what happens if it is. He just shrugged. This is not shaping up as the life I ordered when I was born. To make matters worse some tree loppers removed a palm tree from behind my unit today and dropped it through my laundry window . Now it is pouring rain. Not happy. Ron.

Oh, Ron! Sounds like you're having one diabolical time of it at the moment. I'm so sorry for you. I can remember realising my addiction with Dihydrocodeine, it was also really bad. I hurled them in the bin. Did the same with my steroids too. Both alter the mind, and for some of us too much to bear. I feel for you. Do you have a parasol type brolly to stuff through the broken window? I really don't know what to suggest other than a few sedatives to help you through. They are an addiction too though, lol. Prob some would recommend mmj. Probably, knowing your luck you would get arrested.

hope things work out for you soon.

Oh Ron,I agree with everything Spooky said.Talk about kicking a bloke when he's down eh ? I don't know what to say that will help.Except keep us posted,........a problem shared is a problem halved so they say.We know that's not true, but it's good to share.

Just had a walk 'round the park.We had a look 'round the old pet cemetery. It's no longer in use,but there are some interesting and upsetting headstones.Dogs that served in W.W.2 as an example.

I saw a patch of purple flowers, and lo and behold,CROCUSES !!! (spring flowers over here) They were flattened due to yesterdays rain, but there were lots of them.

Crocus'! Oh, wonderful. No winter this year? Reminds me, I must start getting those bulbs in my new garden. Another chore. I simply aim to plant 5 or 10 a day until they're all in. Just can't manage it all in one day. Sad about the war dogs. At least they're remembered.

Ron, all I can say is I wish they could drop some of the rain they had recently in South Carolina in your area. They said that the amount of rain they had there was a 1 in a1000 year event. They also said that the amount of rain they had in the that time would have stopped the drought in California of the past few years (and slowed it's wild fires down). It's too bad we can't regulate where the moisture goes and when.
I feel blessed. It is another beautiful fall day here.

I woke to a dull overcast day. It poured all night. Given my problems with flooding I was starting to get concerned but I figured any slight inconvenience was worth it for wonderful rain. I hope Susan gets some down in Victoria. Isn't it amazing how a bunch of living flowers can lift your spirits. Nature! I was watching a show on cats last week and their research has found that just watching kittens playing or even asleep does so much for your feeling of wellbeing and your ability to cope. I wonder if I could hire a couple of buckets of kittens for a few months .Ron. (The problem would be I wouldn't want to return them.)

Chilly this morning and tis at night too, but lovely today. Hope it stays awhile.
Scottsma, anything of the aurora borealis up there?

Yes,but only what I've seen on the local news.I always promise myself
that I will put the alarm on and go down to the coast. hahaha

I hope you've got the unpacking sorted

Good start but clouding over now...........Apparently we are expecting cold Easterly blasts and the first snows on the high tops in Scotland in the next few weeks,so that's my mountaineering adventures over for this year. I'll just have to catch up with my reading instead.

well it is hot here. Don't like it , there is only a few degrees between day and night. It gets very hard to get to sleep when it stays hot at night. Ron.

Back to warm and humid with storms predicted for most afternoons. Another weekend passes and I did nothing. Back to work tomorrow. I hate wasting my time off just resting. Such is life. Ron.

still some warmth during the day. loving feeding the hedgehogs cat food, mealworms, suet, raisins and cake. I had two happily slurping at the dish last night. Hope to feed them up before their hibernation this winter.

It has been quite pleasant today some sunshine around keeping the chill off. Aw spooky thats a nice thing to do. lucky animals that have you to feed them up.. I have an somewhat unwanted mouse in my house i bought a humane trap today so i hope to release it in the morning, if it fits in the trap as my son described it as being more like a hamster in size...

Expecting 30c and a storm today. We don't seem to be getting the 30's when they predict them of late. Still in the high twenties but not into the 30,s. May they get it wrong all summer. On the other hand the humidity has not been under 70% for a couple of weeks and that can be more uncomfortable than the heat. I see my gp about starting the oxy taper tomorrow . I have spoken to a couple of pharmacists over the weekend. Both have suggested the slower the better. One said that the ideal taper is minus five mg on one of the daily doses a fortnight. That will take thirty weeks. I will see what the doc says. I may be able to speed up as the dose lowers. Ron.

Warm here too, and expected to get warmer this week. If it were summer, I would love this weather, but I love cool, crisp fall weather better. At least the sun is showing it's bright cheerful face, instead of grey and overcast.

We got a big line of storms formed from the gold coast south of Brisbane to the sunshine coast a hundred kliks north of Brisbane. Anj would have copped it more down on the gold coast. They had pretty well frizzled out by the time they got up here. They said on the news that they had a massive light show down on the Goldy. I figure with all those lightning bolts something has to get hit. We will probably have more storms tomorrow night. For fifteen years I had a big old cuddly golden retriever called Buck. Poor old bucky knew all about storms. You don't worry about the flash , it's the bang that kills you. Ron.

27-29 at the moment but reaching over 30c next Thursday with storms. I fished on Friday in the local river. It was supposed to be calm. The wind was blowing 15-20 knots, very unpleasant plus when I was coming home I had to tow in a cabin cruiser that had seized the motor. I finished up wrecking a shoulder trying to control things in the wind and tide. Still very dry here. Sadly it looks like the drought is over with a vengeance in California. Always the same ,too little, too much. Ron.

Was hoping to get rain this weekend, but no clouds in sight today. High was around 80...sitting here with a fan on me at 8pm, so ready for summer to be over!

Around 28c today . I think it was a nice day , had a nana nap around one and didn't surface till six. I may have trouble sleeping tonight but fortunately I have a home made Enya compilation ,puts me to sleep every time. Don't get me wrong I love her music it just puts me to sleep. I bought a new fan yesterday . It is one of my quests in life to find a quiet fan. This one isn't so bad but still a ways to go , at least it keeps the heat and humidity circulating. Ron .

Grey, damp and dull. Have discovered juvenile hedgehogs that need rescuing as they don't weigh enough to get through winter. I got three in my greenhouse that I must catch again (oven gloves on) and bring in to help them survive the winter. Apparently they have a litter of 6 usually, so I'm hedgehog watching tonight to catch the rest, kindly old soul that I am. I'm sure the hogs don't think that though....and if they give my cats fleas...!!!

Sunny and 5C with a windchill of 1C. Just finished mowing the lawn, the question is will it be the last time this year?

Blimey, that's cold. I thought we were getting it chilly. Winter woollies on and lets hope the grass frosts over for less growth. Are your trees gorgeous?

The mind boggles ,spooky playing mother hedgehog and carol out hugging trees. Why am I not surprised , good people do nice things. Well Enya worked till 2 am then it was hard getting back to sleep. Last week it was on the loo non stop now I can't go . I really hate my digestive tract or what is left of it. Spooky I have your problem I am cat sitting for the lady upstairs for a couple of weeks . It is amazing how animals understand. Mums away but the big bloke will look after me. I have some blow ins as well. Two chooks (chickens) turn up nearly every day for a feed. I think their owners left the area and just turned them loose. Anyway some water soaked bread won't break me. 28-29 c today ,expecting a storm on Thursday. The fire fighters only just managed to save houses in a wild bushfire in Townsville overnight. Thank heaven for the volunteer fire brigades. Ron.

Oh Ron that sounds a close shave with the bush fire.. Sorry your having a rough run at the mo mate. Hugs to you.You old softie you, chucks n cats eh !! I seems spooky1 has got you infected too with caring for the animals. I got a mouse in my house but cant kill it n humane trap dont seem to work lol its been in ate the food n got out, crafy begger so plan b will have to be devised . Any tips welcome. btw from anyone..

I know they have to be a certain weight before they can survive hibernation. We've rescued them before, but luckily we have a dear chap a few miles away who has turned his garage into a Hog hospital.I would ask your vet if they know someone in the area who does the same.

Good start but clouding over now.Washings on the line, but not drying very well.

sunny n warm today.. just like me :) haha
